Simple Pass/ fingerprint scan not working

I have recently begun to experience trouble with my Simplepass 2012/fingerprint scan and have contacted Hp Customer Services to no avail. I Just want to know if there is a fix to this or is this a really expensive lesson I had to learn?

Many users seems to be experiencing the same: worked great under iOS 7.0X, now just not scanning. Some 'kinda' fixes: make sure your finger is cold or, plug in the phone to the charger or computer, or place your phone in the fridge for half an hour or so. All the others of rescanning / resetting your iPhone seem to offer no improvement.
Not exactly what we have come to expect from Apple!
Other users who have experienced the same issue are saying Apple will swop out your 5s for a new one (indicating this is a hardware issue that is exacerbated under the 7.1 changes to the scanning software). That sounds great in the US or Europe; however, it remains to be confirmed the same will apply in South Africa...

After upgraded to IOS7.1 yesterday, noticed all my finger print unlock failed to work.
Deleted all existing prints with intend to re-register again, however it seems that the home butoon cannot detect when I placed my finger at all, tried many times and still the same.... no living with my 5S without finger print unlock...
    Anyone encounter the same?

  • IdeaPad B50-70 fingerprint scan not working!

    Hello guys,
First of all, excuse my poor English
I have one really annoying problem with the lenovo laptop mentioned in the subject.
I have bought this laptop yesterday and installed fresh windows 7 64bit
Everything was great and smooth, until i tried to activate fingerprint scanner device.
This device is detected by device manager. It was 'unknow device' until i installed this:
    Fingerprint Software for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Lenovo B40-70, B50-70, E40-70 Notebook
After that, device manager recognized the bloody thing as Biometric Devices > Validity Sensors (WBF) (PID=0011),
with the following status: This device is working properly.
    Link to image 1
Ok, now i try to open that 'lenovo fingerprint manager' from my desktop, i enter my windows password, picture of left and right hand and i need to select one finger. When i try to do that, i receive the following error message:
The enrollment could not be completed. Please try again. If the problem continues, please try enrolling a different finger.
And it's impossible to select different finger, because i get the same message every time. And that's where the story ends.

In bios, there is nothing similar to 'fingerprint option'. Under security tab, i can only set user password, admin password or HDD password.

Oh, almost forgot... i updated BIOS from v2.02 to v2.08 (donwloaded from Lenovo website), and yes it's for my B50-70 laptop.
    Please help.
    Thanks!

  • Scan not working after windows 10 upgrade."1510 series not detected"

upgraded to windows 10 couple of days back. now scan not working, printing fine.tried updating drivers no joy.Hope HP finds  a solution soon.

Well, it has been a long road on the Win 10 upgrade. At first I got the same error message as above, but after deleting the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 in Win 10 using Control Panel Programs and Features and rebooting, I got into the continual BSOD upon reboot. Here are the steps I took to at least get stable on Windows 10. First, I rolled back to Windows 8.1 using the advanced feature in the BSOD recovery options. Once back in Win 8.1, I deleted the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Then I downloaded the Win 10 update and re-installed it. Once that completed, I updated the Intel Graphics driver under the display adapters (on my G780 it is an Intel HD Graphics 4000, and the driver can be found at  https://downloadcenter.intel.com/). Currently I am running version 10.18.10.4252 for my machine. Then, under the Device Manager, I updated the Conexant SmartAudio HD driver under the Sound, video, and game controllers. That driver is currently at 8.66.4.50 and was automatically downloaded from the web when I requested to update driver.  I also changed several others settings such as Notify to schedule restart after updates are installed instead of automatic (under Settings --> Update & Security --> Advanced Options) and Do you want Windows to download driver software and realistic icons for your devices? --> No, let me choose what to do, never install driver software from Windows Update.  After that, I shut down the machine, waited a moment and booted back up. I have no idea why this helped or if it is overkill, but I am stable and running without a fear of rebooting now. Hope this helps if someone else is having this same issue.

  • Envy dv7-7202tx Fingerprint scanner not working

It was working until this morning. I woke up, turned laptop on, realized the built-in fingerprint scanner on my dv7-7202tx device isn't responding/working (no blinking at the start, it should be) I tried swiping my fingers over it, no response. I researched it online, one of the solution was to uninstall the HP Simple Pass program and the Validity Sensor driver under Biometric Devices and to reinstall both - I downloaded the Validity Driver (sp58900) off the HP website under my product , yet it's still not responding. The only problem here now is the Validity Sensor driver (HP Simple Pass is working fine). I opened Device Manager and scanned for hardware changes, now there's no Biometric Devices (or driver was it) but there is an unknown device under other devices (error code 43). I want the fingerprint scanner working again.
    Note:
Yes, I did reboot after reinstalling. I even shut it down instead of restarting it.
    I need help! Thanks!
EDIT: Also, I checked the Biometric Device under Control Panel, and it says Windows did not find any....
EDIT 2: In the Device Manager, I clicked on Show Hidden Devices, still no Biometric Devices ...

    Hello LouieBot,
There was an update to the BIOS for this notebook on the 15th of last month.  I'd like for you to begin there.
Simple Pass is located here amongst all your other drivers.
Please let me know what happens after you update the BIOS.
    Good luck!

  • The same problem again with HP Simple Pass fingerprint reader after upfrading from Firefox 4 to Firefox 5. I have already installed HPSimPlePass 7.0.74.0 to fix the problem after upgrading to Firefox 4.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 with a fingerprint reader. I had the same problem as many other people when upgrading to Firefox 4, : I couldn't use the HP Simple Pass to enter a website needing a username and password by just swiping my fingerprint. I fixed the problem by downloading the new HPSimPlePass 7.0.74.0. This fixed the problem and I was very happy. Since upgrading to Firefox 5 I have the same problem again, but I already have the new version of HP Simple Pass. How can this be fixed so that I can use this fingerprint scan feature again, or where can I download Firefox 4 again?

  • ENVY dv7-7225dx Fingerprint Hardware not working

    Hi,
My fingerprint reader is not working.  It used to flash white when it was working.  It no longer blinks since I upgraded to Windows 8.1.
I updated BIOS, Simple pass and fingerprint driver.  The simple pass program opens when I open it and according to device manager the biometrics is working.
It seems that the fingerprint reader itself is not working properly.  Simple Pass asks if I want to save a login, but the reader does not seem to be "on" (no blinking white light) for me to use the reader.  I tried to delete the fingerprint I saved to Windows to unlock my computer using the fingerprint reader, but now I can't even re-register a fingerprint since the reader is not reading.
Please help! I loved the fact I could use my fingerprint to unlock my computer.

    Hi @Zona_G ,
I would uninstall the Simplepass software and reinstall it. This will bring the register your fingerprints back up.
Did you clean the Fingerprint Reader?

My iphone 6 plus fingerprint scan is not working while charging. Is this normal?
I tried my iphone 5s and it works just fine even while charging.

I think I got an answer to my own question
If you're using generic lightning cable (non-original lighting cable), the fingerprint scan doesn't work while charging.
I just find it weird as my iphone 5s works even if i'm not using the original lightning cable though.
