• TestStand Simple OI does not close properly

Hi there.
We have build a test system that is running TestStand 4.2 and the code modules are created with LabVIEW 9.0. The SW is running on a PC with Windows XP.
We are currently using TestStand Simple Operator Interface (LabVIEW version) to run the tests, and it is with the Operator Interface that we are having a problem.
If we use the TestExec.exe file that came with the TestStand installation everything works fine. But we need to make some modifications to OI and if we open the project file and recompile the OI, then the OI will not close properly. It seems to shutdown the testengine and stop execution of the VI, but the window does not disappear until we move the mouse.
When I open the project file LabVIEW informs me that the project was last saved in version 7.1.1 and we are now running 9.0.
Can anyone tell me what is holding the window on the screen until there is activity on the mouse?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I was looking through TestStand 4.2 known issues, and I found this:
ID# 148697
LabVIEW User Interface might hang when using LabVIEW events
A LabVIEW User Interface that registers ActiveX callbacks and uses an event structure might hang when the user interacts with a LabVIEW control or indicator. The hang is rare, but when it occurs, TestStand User Interface (UI) Controls remain responsive, but all LabVIEW User Interface elements appear frozen.
Workaround: Activate another application and reactive the LabVIEW User Interface.
Not exactly the same as I am experiencing but sounds similar - Does anyone know more about this issue?

• HP Simple Pass: Does not allow widows log on

I have just bought the HP ENVY 17. On the HP simple pass I enroled my fingerprints and attempted web log in however nothing worked. I attempted windos logon but it did not work either. The palms with fingers do not show up and now afer disabling all the options I attempted to enable windows logon again but it says tha the passord is wrong an it is not. On top of this under biometric devices it says I do not have a finger print reader.
How do I fix the HP simple Pass or restart it?
This question was solved.

Hi KN26,
Let's use the HP Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers. You will be looking for the Validity Fingerprint Sensor and the HP SimplePass software. Once those are installed it should be working again.
That would be the preferred method but if for some reason you don't have the HP Recovery Manager you can install the drivers manually: Validity Fingerprint Sensor and HP SimplePass.

• Why is a simple Java applet not diplaying properly in its window bounds?

Hello, I am having difficulty displaying applets on the Mac. Here is one of the simplest applets copied exactly from the Sun java website. This applet runs fine on PCs, unfortunately, on my sister's Mac, it does not display properly. It looks like the browser reserves the proper cutout window for the applet. But then the applet does not display in that window, instead, it paints itself shifted away from that window, even covering browser's borders and toolbars.
She is using Leopard, the Mac was bought new last year, and the browser is Firefox. She is using java 1.4, I don't want to switch that, because that is what is by default running there. Most internet users would not know to switch their java version if an applet does not show properly. So it has to show properly for any java version that may be default on a Mac.
Here is the SSCCE:
file HelloWorld.java:
import javax.swing.JApplet;
import java.awt.Graphics;
public class HelloWorld extends JApplet {
public void paint(Graphics g) {
g.drawRect(0, 0,
getSize().width - 1,
getSize().height - 1);
g.drawString("Hello world!", 5, 15);
file HelloWorld.html:
<APPLET CODE=HelloWorld.class WIDTH=850 HEIGHT=730 >
</APPLET>

You'll most likely get a cogent response posting to the Unix forum under OS X Technologies.

• Simple Button.Text not changing properly

Hi all,
The WPF learning curve is steep.
I have pulled my hair over this simple Button.Text change and I can't get it to work.
In WinForms this works:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub BTN_1_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles BTN_1.Click
BTN_1.Text = "CLICKED BUTTON 1"
BTN_2.Text = "CHANGED BY BUTTON 1"

BTN_2.Text = "CLICKED BUTTON 2"

• Pass Message not working properly

My pass message in the quiz manager should say - My company's
name and number(next line)Thank you for your partipation (next
line) Please click the "Email your evaluation" button. This is what
it produces:
My company's name - 205-9xx-xxxx
Thank you
for your participation.
Please click the "Email
Your Evaluation" button.
Any ideas?

Hi Brock22
Sure looks like the same codes you see in web pages. The most
common (I think) is the %20 everywhere a space occurs in a URL. If
I recall correctly, the 0D and 0A are the same codes one uses to
force carraige returns in E-Mail messages when doing these via
JavaScript.
Wish I had an answer for you. Fact is, i'm sure they never
dreamed that someone would want a message that may span two or more
lines. Hopefully we will see improvement with this aspect in the
next version.
Cheers... Rick

• HP Simple Pass - does not function anymore

My Hp Simplepass software was working perfectly on my HP envy laptop. I used to have windows 8.1 but then tried to remove my antivirus program (Norton) from my lapto so that I could install a new antivirus software. Since I could not clear my laptop from the norton antivirus program, I decided to reinstall the op sys and now I have Windows 8 on my laptop. Now the HP Simplepass program prompts me to login with my windows software each time I reach any site that requires a password.
Could the reason my HP SimplePass is not working anymore be because I am now running windows 8? I also checks my biometric device settings and saw that there was a problem with this directory but I can't fix it. The program just wants me to manually type my main windows password each time I try to go to a site that needs a password.
I read other users who had the same problem and they tried to reinstall the program but it made no difference. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the Validity Sensor Fingerprint Driver from device manager?
If not try that.
1.) Press the Windows button + Q and then type Device Manager in the search box and hit enter to open it.
2.) In Device Manager, Click on > next to Biometric Sensor to expand it.
3.) Right Click on Validity Sensor driver and then click on Uninstall and follow the on-screen instruction and restart the Noteboom.
4.) Press the Windows button + Q and then type Recovery Manager in the search box and hit enter to open it.
5.) In Recovery Manager, click on Hardware driver installation option.
6.) Select Validity Sensor driver from the list and install it and restart the Notebook and check.
If this does not resolve the issue then try to perform System Restore, to set the Notebook to earlier date and time when it was working fine.
cehck the below link for the instructions to perform System Restore:

I downloaded Firefox 3.6.25 (I couldn't download 3.6.22) to test this and couldn't reproduce the problem.

• Simple Pass not working with Windows 7 Premium

I have a Pavillion Notebook, model dv6-6b51sa running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit O/S
For some time now my Simple Pass has not worked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the programme but to no avail. I have read several posts to the community here and have tried just about all recommendations including; hard reset, system restore (in case it had anything to do with Windows updates) a BIOS update and shutting down and rebooting after each process.
Now, having reinstalled Simple Pass (from the HP Support website) , biometric devices do not even feature in Device Manager!
Can anyone kindly offer me assistance?

Hi @tagl
Welcome to HP Forums! I will be happy to help with the SimplePass problem you are experiencing. The fact you are missing a biometric device in your Device Manager would be a problem because for it to work you need the software and the accompanying biometric device. Here is the Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver, install that and then see if you are able to use your fingerprint reader.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a terrific place to find answers.
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I see that your Simplepass was working until this morning when it was not. You have uninstalled and reinstalled software and updated the drivers but no change.
Was there any updates installed?
Have you tried dong a restore back to when it was all working? HP PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
Next I would do a Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8).
If the issue still remains I suggest you do a recovery back to factory. HP PCs - Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8) . During the recovery process you will notice an option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss. If you have not recently done one I suggest you do one now.

• FF4 not compatible with HP Simple Pass - where can I download 3.1.6?

My laptop is equipped with a fingerprint scanner which works with HP Simple Pass ID protection software to store and populate login and password data for applications and websites.
Simple Pass does not recognise login pages for which it has data stored when they are opened in FF4. It workled fine with the previous version, and still does with IE.
Really liking FF4, so hope there is a fix on the way soon. Otherwise, please can I have a link to download 3.1.6?
HP Simple Pass (by Digital Persona) version 5.00.140a on Windows 7 Professional fully up to date.

This is the correct procedure to revert to a previous version.
#Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.16] and download it to the desktop.
#Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Mozilla Firefox and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
#Then reboot and delete the folder called Mozilla Firefox at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#Finally run the installation file you downloaded earlier.
