  • A simple question: do i have to close the stream?

    do i have to close such input/output stream:
    HttpServletRequest.getInputStream()
    HttpServletRequest.getReader()
    HttpServletResponse.getOutputStream()
    HttpServletResponse.getWriter()
    and why?
    thanks!

    i found one reason y we won't close the streams beacause see the example and explanation;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
    Obtain an output stream by using the HttpServletResponse object and one of the methods shown in the following two examples:
    PrintWriter out = res.getWriter();
    ServletOutputStream out = res.getOutputStream();
    You can use both PrintWriter and ServletOutputStream in the same servlet (or in another servlet that is included in a servlet). The output of both is written to the same buffer.
    Write the contents of the response to the output stream using the print() method. You can use HTML tags in these statements. For example:
    out.print("<html><head><title>My Servlet</title>");out.print("</head><body><h1>");out.print("Welcome");out.print("</h1></body></html>");Any time you print data that a user has previously supplied, BEA recommends that you remove any HTML special characters that a user might have entered. If you do not remove these characters, your Web site could be exploited by cross-site scripting. For more information, refer to Securing Client Input in Servlets.
    Do not close the output stream by using the close() method, and avoid flushing the contents of the stream. If you do not close or flush the output stream, WebLogic Server can take advantage of persistent HTTP connections, as described in the next step.
    Optimize the response.
    By default, WebLogic Server attempts to use HTTP persistent connections whenever possible. A persistent connection attempts to reuse the same HTTP TCP/IP connection for a series of communications between client and server. Application performance improves because a new connection need not be opened for each request. Persistent connections are useful for HTML pages containing many in-line images, where each requested image would otherwise require a new TCP/IP connection.
    Using the WebLogic Server Administration Console, you can configure the amount of time that WebLogic Server keeps an HTTP connection open.
    WebLogic Server must know the length of the HTTP response in order to establish a persistent connection and automatically adds a Content-Length property to the HTTP response header. In order to determine the content length, WebLogic Server must buffer the response. However, if your servlet explicitly flushes the ServletOutputStream, WebLogic Server cannot determine the length of the response and therefore cannot use persistent connections. For this reason, you should avoid explicitly flushing the HTTP response in your servlets.
    You may decide that, in some cases, it is better to flush the response early to display information in the client before the page has completed; for example, to display a banner advertisement while some time-consuming page content is calculated. Conversely, you may want to increase the size of the buffer used by the servlet engine to accommodate a larger response before flushing the response. You can manipulate the size of the response buffer by using the related methods of the javax.servlet.ServletResponse interface.
    The default value of the WebLogic Server response buffer is 12K and the buffer size is internally calculated in terms of CHUNK_SIZE where CHUNK_SIZE = 4088 or 4Kb; if the user sets 5Kb the server rounds the request up to the nearest multiple of CHUNK_SIZE which is 2. and the buffer is set to 8176 or 8Kb.

  • SIMPLE QUESTION: LYNC 2010 -- AVAYA CS1000 DIRECT SIP: IS THAT POSSIBLE? PLEASE HELP!

    Hello,
    I would like to ask really simple question here: is that possible to establish (configure, setup, create, make etc.) a direct SIP connection between LYNC 2010 and AVAYA CS1000 PBX. On one side I have Lync 2010 Standard Edition acting as Front-End Server
    with co-located Mediation Server. On another side I have AVAYA CS1000 IP PBX Version 7.0. We are trying to make this happen for 1 full year with no luck. The issue is that we do not manage our PBX (external company does).
    Here is what we are basically trying to achieve:
    All I want is that basically LYNC user (phone # 5678) can dial PBX user (phone # 1234) and talk. Also PBX user can call LYNC user and they can talk. I'm pretty sure that all I'm asking is very simple thing. I don't expect magic to happen (e.g. when one user
    calls another user the world will change). All I want is to be able to call between LYNC and PBX users so they can talk.
    Sorry for repeating again but here is my simple question: can direct SIP (or call it SIP trunk if this is the right word) be established so LYNC and PBX users can call each other and talk. Whatever protocol is (G.711, G.722 etc.) I will be happy.
    If you can let me know I would very much appreciate this. I'm sure I'm not alone in this world and many companies out there using AVAYA CS1000 and deployed LYNC and probably have the same question so it may be helpful to other people as well.
    Thanks!

    Hi Thamara for reply. I can see where you are going, but the challenge here is that I have found many threads including in this forums from people who successfully connected CS1000 PBX to Lync 2010 for two-way calling, and even dual-forking (which I cannot
    even dream about at this time).
    If you go to AVAYA WEB site, you can find official AVAYA compatibility MATRIX that is available here:
    http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=avaya%20compatibility%20matrix%20lync&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBwQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fsupport.avaya.com%2Fcss%2FP8%2Fdocuments%2F100135385&ei=v3-5TsXVKMLX0QGHpdSkCA&usg=AFQjCNG6cmW5izdOASMuW34b8iK0vWnwuw
    According to this document, only CS1000 version 7.5 supports Lync 2010 and only via ACE - starting first quarter of 2011 (which is done deal by now) - see below for details. The problem is that I have a hard time to understand the meaning of the word "Supported".
    I do not really need full support, all I want is to be able to call in both directions using 2 distinct numbers (e.g. 4 digits extensions) that are configured in both systems.
    Another thing is this ACE. Apparently it is a big monster software that you need to buy and pay big bucks and lots of configuration just to make it working. But I'm not even sure what will work. We do have one-way calling (from Lync to PBX) - it just does
    not work other way, and I have no idea why. I'm not sure if this cannot be working, or because it was not setup right. As I mentioned before we have no access and clue about IP PBX - this is one of my issue here. Withoul knowledge how it works on PBX side
    I cannot be sure what is causing this.
    So I was wondering if anybody in this world was able to connect CS1000 PBX to Lync and perform two-way calling using two systems.
    Thanks!
    Microsoft OCS 2010 Lync
    Supported (via ACE) - 1Q11

  • Simple question: addChild

    Hi all!
    I got a simple question. I have one SWF with a document class with code in there. My stage
    is empty except one background image for the application. In the document class I added all
    stuff I need to stage (addChild(new MyClass())). When I test it with CTRL+ENTER (Air Debug
    Launcher - mobile) everything is working fine. When I add it to iTunes and then to my iPhone 4,
    nothing except the background image is shown up.
    When I add the the content directly to the stage in flash, everything is working right. Why addChild
    is not adding stuff to my stage?
    Please help, thanks

    really?  All Adobe has for customer service is a forum?  I have a simple question.  Can't just contact someone?  Are you that cheap?

    Not to be critical, but in the time you have waited to find out how to contact Adobe you probably would have had your question answered by someone here on the forum. Many times people have been given bad information when they have found a way to contact Adobe. Much of the so-called technical support has been outsourced overseas. And the people manning the phones have no experience with Adobe products. So you can complain some more. Or, you can ask your question. It's your choice.

  • Hi, i have a simple question

    Hi all. New to the forums, and Java.
    My question is probably very simple to all of you, but call me dumb, I just can't figure it out. I'm trying to figure out how to "check" an input so it is not 0. If it is, I want the program to use the while loop to prompt for a re-enter, and when it gets an input other than 0, the program continues. Here is the code:
    import java.util.Scanner;
    public class Assig1Ex1Ver2
       public static void main(String[] args)
          Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
          System.out.println("Type in the first number and hit \"enter\": ");
          double input1 = -1;
          double input2 = -1;
          if (input.hasNextDouble())
               input1 = input.nextDouble();
          else
               System.out.println("Entry of first number failed");
               System.out.println("The first number will be set to -1");
               input.nextLine(); // we must read what the user typed and then ignore it
          System.out.println("Type in the second number and hit \"enter\": ");
          if (input.hasNextDouble())
                 if (input2 == 0);
                      while (input2 == 0);
                           System.out.println("Do not input 0. Please re-enter");
                 else
                      input2 = input.nextDouble();
          else
               System.out.println("Entry of second number failed");
                System.out.println("The second number will be set to -1");
                input.nextLine(); // we must read what the user typed and then ignore it
          double answer = input1 / input2;
          System.out.println("The quotient is: " + answer);
    }The "else" above "input2 = input.nextDouble()" for some reason is seen as an error (I guess that's my second question), but I if I omit that "else" I get this answer:
    Type in the first number and hit "enter":
    34
    Type in the second number and hit "enter":
    6
    Do not input 0. Please re-enter
    The quotient is: 5.666666666666667It's seeing the second input as always being 0. Anyone have an idea for this?

    Ok, I rewrote it and got rid of the while statement.
    import java.util.Scanner;
    public class Assig1Ex1Ver2
         public static void main(String[] args)
              Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
              System.out.println("Type in the first number and hit \"enter\": ");
              double input1 = -1;
              double input2 = -1;
              if (input.hasNextDouble())
                   input1 = input.nextDouble();
              else
                   System.out.println("Entry of first number failed");
                   System.out.println("The first number will be set to -1");
                   input.nextLine(); // we must read what the user typed and then ignore it
              System.out.println("Type in the second number and hit \"enter\" (Do not enter 0): ");
              if (input.hasNextDouble())
                   if (input.nextDouble()==0)
                        System.out.println("Cannot divide by 0.");
                   else
                        input2 = input.nextDouble();
              else
                   System.out.println("Entry of second number failed");
                   System.out.println("The second number will be set to -1");
                   input.nextLine(); // we must read what the user typed and then ignore it
              double answer = input1 / input2;
              System.out.println("The quotient is: " + answer);
    }Now what happens is that after I push enter after inputting the second number, nothing happens. What's wrong now? Please help.

  • Simple question: calling URL link with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT is not working

    Hi folks,
    this should be an easy question, but I have no idea why it's not working :-(.
    In one of my form, I would like to place an URL link behing button.
    For this purpose I'm using below code:
       WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('http://www.google.com','_blank');But when above code is executed, nothing happens :-(.
    Could it be because I'm using it within modal type of window?
    Thanks,
    Tomas
    I'm using Oracle Forms 10g

    have you checked with using self instead of blank to see if it will replace your current page with the one you are tyring to call?
    Have you got any other firefox plugins running such as Ad block? can you try disabaling all addons and even the internal pop-up blocker jus to see if this will work?
    if self works but blank does not how about having the main app called from a multi frame page. one frame with the app in and the other frame with some javascript that can be called to open a new window? dont know if that will work and its late so probably not thought it thorugh fully :)

  • HT4753 I have a very simple question: how do I view where Lion has autosaved my current version to (without the convoluted route of using finder)? In days gone by i'd simply use the save as function to see where it was being saved.

    I have a very simple question: how do I view where Lion has autosaved my current version to (without the convoluted route of using finder)? In days gone by i'd simply use the save as function to see where it was being saved.

    It's actually even easier than using Save As to see the full path to the currently open document. Just do a "Secondary click" on the document title in its window's title bar.
    Like you, I relied upon Save As my whole life to check a file's location and considered it a must-have capability. Turns out it's even faster to use the single-click method to reveal the full path to the open document. It displays the entire path to the current document starting from the level of your Mac, and works for files stored on drives as well as iCloud.
    If you're not sure how to do a secondary click, go into System Preferences, select Trackpad, Point & Click to find the current preference for secondary click on your Mac. If you happen to have a mouse with more than one button, it's probably the right button. As a trackpad user, I check the box to "Click or tap with two fingers," so a simple two finger tap on the title of an open document reveals its full path. This feature actually has been around for a very long time.
    Note that this is not the same thing as the Autosave and Versions menu, which is exposed using a little drop down triangle to the right of the title. There is no visual clue for the presence of this feature - you just have to know it's there, probably because this feature goes all the way back to pre-OS X days.

  • Simple Question Calling methods from Java files through JSP without JVM

    Hi.
    I've got a simple question (forigve my newbieness)...
    If I'm running Tomcat can I exectue a method in a compiled Java file from a JSP page without having the JVM installed on the server?
    Any thoughts or additional comments would be appreciated.
    Many thanks.

    No... but that's because you can't run Tomcat without
    a JVM installed on the server.
    If you are running Tomcat, you are running a JVM for
    the JSP pages to run in, in which case, yes, the JSP
    pages can call the other Java code... as long as it's
    in the classpath.Thanks a lot for the replies.
    So just to check, if I sign up with a hosting company that offers Tomcat then the JVM will be installed on the server and I can call other Java code as long as it's in the classpath?
    I just want to make sure before I sign up with a hosting company =D
    Thanks again!
