Simple question - system requirements for Leopard

What are the minimum system requirements for Leopard? Can I install it on a G4 PowerBook?
Presumably I can no longer buy Leopard from Apple? Where can I get hold of a copy (in the UK)?
Thanks

Call the online Apple Store. Though they don't list Leopard on the web site, they probably still have it for sale.

  • What are the system requirements for Leopard?

    Hello,
Does anyone know the system requirements for Leopard? I have been looking all over the forums and Apples Leopard sight but cannot find the system requirements.
    Thanks

True Tom a number of vendors do that but usually the condition for debit is that the article is available and they only debit when they dispatch. In this case at issue you make the order. It WILL be dispatched but when you get it it tells you it won't install (maybe). Apple are still playing with it so, possibly, there will be some requirement stemming from Apple Tv or the iPhone that rules out more than G3s.
I doubt if you could put something you could later referr to in court in the 'comments' box on Amazon web order form to plead not fit for purpose. One might say anyone buying a pig in a poke desrves what they get. However this is a broadcast offer for sale by Amazon to a public who will have all sorts of configurations so perhaps they should, to be responsible, remind all those pre-ordering (there are many) nearer the time that the product (I trust Apple will tell them) neds such and such.
My own view is why be in such haste? Is it really necessary to have 10.5 within a week of release? 10.4.9 works OK wait till the system needs are known then order. The world won't fall apart because you are only the fourth kid on the block to have it. Anyway there are bound to be snags turning up once it reaches the hordes with all their many quirky installations. Wait for a few months.

I'm trying to download the trial version of Adobe Illustrator. An error message says that the OS does not meet the minimum system requirements for the installer. 10.6.0 is the minimum required for installation. How do I get my mac to be a 10.6.0 ? Right now I have a 10.5.8 is there a way to upgrade or something?

Buy the Snow Leopard retail installer (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA).
That will take you to 10.6.3.
If required you can then use the combo updater to get to the latest version, 10.6.8 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399)

  • Realistic system requirements for Design Premium on MAC

    Hi,
Can anyone give me some realistic system requirements for CS4 Design Premium? I am just about ripping my hair out with having to reboot several times a day because i'm running out of memory on my PC and am thinking about switching to MAC.
I am currently running a PC well above the recommended specs for Design Premium CS4 and it looks as though I will have to upgrade anyway. Designer friends tell me their MACs never require rebooting (but again i guess it depends on the MAC specs).
    My questions are:
    * If i buy a MAC, what would I need to buy to comfortably run Design Premium CS4 without any crashes?
    * reading some of the other discussion threads in this forum it seems some products don't work/aren't supported by MAC? Of the Design Premium products which ones would I have issues with?
    * Does anyone know what the deal is with switching the software licensing from Windows to Mac? (I heard you can only switch if you are upgrading which would mean I would have to wait until CS5 is released.)
    Advice would be appreciated!!
    Cheers,
    Karen

    Thanks Michael,
    I do use a few of the programs at once:  Bridge + Photoshop + Illustrator + Indesign (actually, have learnt cannot run all of these at once but would love to!);
Dreamweaver + Fireworks (Fireworks constantly causes me headaches where files become locked and cannot be saved - all due to shortage of memory)
Usually run virus software - full scan weekly, so am pretty sure my system is clean.
Great idea about disabling Virus software - will ensure I unplug from modem first!! I will give that a go.
    Cheers,
    Karen

  • Which of these 2 articles is correct on Pentium processor system requirement for Flash Player 10?

http://www.ehow.com/info_8526453_flash-player-10-system-requirements.html says that Flash Player 10 on Windows computers requires "a Pentium 4 processor running at 2.33 GHz or an Athalon 64 2800+ processor."
    However, http://www.downloadatoz.com/essentialware/adobe-flash-player/what-is-system-requirement-of -adobe-flash-player-10_g.html says:
"System Requirements of Adobe Flash Player 10:
    • Windows 2000, XP(SP2 and above), Windows Server, Windows Vista., Macintosh OS X, Linux
    • Intel Pentium 450MHz, AMD Athlon 600MHz processor (for Windows);...(for Mac)"
My ThinkPad PC does not meet the processor system requirement for Flash Player 11 or 12, and does not meet what ehow.com (above) says is the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10. However, it does meet what www.downloadatoz.com (above) says is the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10. Adobe.com has the operating system requirements for Flash Player 10, but no longer has the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10.
    My question is:
    (a) Is that "Intel Pentium 450MHz [or] Intel Core Dual" system requirement (from downloadatoz.com) for Flash Player 10.0 and that "Pentium 4 processor running at 2.33 GHz" system requirement (from ehow.com) for a later version of Flash Player 10 (like 10.1); or (b) is one of those two sources (ehow.com and downloadatoz.com) mistaken as to the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10 on Windows computers? If (b), which of those two is the correct Pentium system requirement for Flash Player 10?

What processor does your thinkpad have?
I know they now come with an Intel M, which is the functional equivalent of the Atom, and for ALL intents and purposes, meets the minimum for Flash Player 12 or 13 as long as it's 1.66gHz or faster.
Using, or even considering using, Flash Player 10 in a system newer than Windows 98 or 2000 (SP1 or 2), is unwise and unsafe, expecially if it isn't a "standalone" (not connected) system.

I think you've anwsered your own question. If it does'nt meet the minimum spec it won't work.

  • What are the system requirements for 4.0 of Firefox?

I am trying to found out what the system requirements are for 4.0 of Firefox.
I ask this because I am currently running Firefox 3.6 on 11.3 OpenSUSE Linux. I am considering an OS upgrade. I built a LiveCD to test the new OS before installing and when I try running Firefox it crashes. It is apparently 4.0 beta or something. Nowhere can I find a simple list of system requirements for Firefox.
Current hardware: AMD Athlon 1.6 GHz, 512 MB mem, USB 1.0 ( an older system )

This is from the Apple Lion site:

  • What are the system requirements for Firefox 4

What are the system requirements for Firefox 4.0? There's all sorts of information on how to improve performance, etc., etc. However, I cannot find the simple list of system requirements that most software companies put on their web site (i.e. RAM and processor speed). This simple information seems to be completely misssing!

    They are available here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/4.0/system-requirements/

  • System requirements for Acrobat X1

Below are the system requirements for Acrobat X1, as noted on the Adobe download page.
Note that Windows XP is supported, as is Windows 7.  Nothing in between.
Does this mean that Vista is not supported?  Really??
These system requirements are for Adobe® Acrobat® XI Pro software, v11.0. Because system requirements change with each software update, refer to the Release Notes for your software version for the latest information on supported operating systems and browsers.
    Windows
    1.3GHz or faster processor
    Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 3 for 32 bit or Service Pack 2 for 64 bit; Windows Server® 2003 R2 (32 bit and 64 bit); Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2 (32 bit and 64 bit); Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit); or Windows 8 (32 bit and 64 bit)
    512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)

It may run, but from what has been reported it appears that it will not even install. I have no clue why, but that is consistent with the system requirements statement. Usually these system requirements indicate systems on which the software has been tested and is still supported by Adobe. It might work on other systems, but no support is provided by Adobe and you are at risk that it will even install. So as I see a question: NO, VISTA is not supported even if you are successful with the install.

  • System requirements for a few versions of Illustrator

Does anyone know the system requirements for the mac version of Illustrator 1,5 and 6

I don't know the answers to your questions Matt. Sorry. I don't have anything older than CS2 installed anywhere.
What I typed was directly off the v5 and 6 Deluxe packaging. No other info was there.
The AI7 packaging states 25mb are needed for installation. I imagine AI5 and AI6 are less than that. I'd also guess that 6 "Deluxe" has the Dimensions trial, and a few other non-required resources on the CD. There was no v6 and v6 Deluxe. It's a "Deluxe CD" that you could get with v6 on it, but the AI version was the same if I remember correctly.
I think Photoshop 5 shipped on CD, but you could contact Adobe to get 3.5" floppies if you needed. If I recall correctly, Photoshop has shipped on CD since v4.
As for graphics requirements, they would be very low end. Mac video cards were not monsters back then. Anything with millions of colors and a 640x480 resolution would work I imagine. But I'm guessing here.

  • System Requirements for iLife 11

According to the system requirements for iLife 11, certain functions require a Mac with "Intel Core Duo or better."
My Mac Pro's "About This Mac" says I have "2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon."
Does my Mac fully meet the system requirements for iLife 11? I don't know the difference between a "core duo" and a "dual core."
    Thanks!

Yes, you meet the requirements and exceed them quite a bit. You should get great performance.
Make sure you are running Snow Leopard. (OSX 10.6.4)
