Simple save as issue

How can I get the save as drop down menu to stick to one format, and not reset to photoshop psd at the top every time I save a file? It's extremely time-wasting that pshop does not remember my last selection.
And no, I cant batch export because there is a bottom layer that mixes with a selection of layers above it, and export layers won't work.
Thanks

Have you tried creating an action? Create a file, open an image, do your work. When ready to save, create a new Action, start recording your steps to save and close your image/work. Select TIFF, PSD, whatever. Once closed, stop recording. Rename action something like"closer" and use it over and over. I have several different closers. Works like a charm. Good luck.

  • HP Simple Save Problem

I recently purchased the 1TB HP Simple save external hard drive to back up files on my HP PC.  It worked just fine out of the box, but I am not able to reboot my computer with the drive plugged in.  If I try to boot up, it just goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor.
I thought the great thing about this unit was that you just leave it plugged in all the time.  Am I going to have to unplug the unit every time I want to reboot?  Is this normal, or is there some setting I need to change?
    Thanks.

My issue was that, after the first use and backup, the HPSS 1.0 TB drive would not start automatically.
Even  after going into the drive and clicking on "HP SimpleSave.exe".
Bottom line: Support sent me to:
    http://hpsupport.wdc.com/hpsupport/product/download.asp?pid=1&lang=en
Follow the instructions but when you restart...click on the HP Launcher but DO NOT allow any software updates.
I allowed it to download a software update the first time and it has bugs which defeated the whole purpose. So I started again and cancelled all update attempts and my HPSS is now backing up properly.
    Hope this helps.

  • HP Simple Save external hard drive not recognized on laptop.

I have tried plugging it into different USB ports on same laptop or a completely different desktop.  It is never recognized.  last week it was.  I took it apart & tried it in a 3.5 SATA external closure.  Still is not recognized.  I have info on it that i desperately need.  Is there any way for me to get my files off of it?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news; this vintage drive might have died.
If you are lucky, it is only the power supply, although this is a thin hope and is not based at all on the facts.
Depending on your level of desperation, you might consider taking the drive to a forensic specialist.
My own Simple Save drive died suddenly one day about five months ago after several years of good service.  Fortunately, I never depend on only one device for backups, else they are not backups, but instead become single points of certain failure.
I hope you find a viable solution.

  • I have a huge iphoto library and an HP simple save hard drive which has been mac formated.

the discssion board states to close iphoto, go to folders, locate, click and drag library to new location (ie-my HP simple save which has been formated to mac)  When I look in my libraries, I have several for libraries, including some that say 6.
When I open one, not all my photos are contained, only a part of my entire iphoto library
which one do I use--and how can to confirm that ALL my photos are on my external hard drive?
    thank you for your help---
    [email protected]

Open a Finder Window and go to your Username then to the Pictures folder. In there you will find a file, actually a folder but I won't get into that, called "iPhoto Library.photolibrary". It is that files (Folder listed as a Package) you need to Copy to your external drive.

  • Adobe Reader X save location issue

Hi All, i would like to seek expert helps on Adobe Reader save location issues. After we upgrade from Adobe Reader 9 to Adobe Reader X.
There are changes on how save location works in Adobe Reader X
If save PDF via Internet Explorer – the save location will according to last save location, HOWEVER
If save PDF via Adobe Reader X – the save location will set according to location the file is being open
Let me show you what i mean over the pictures
I open a reader_X_help.pdf using Adobe Reader X and then save the file using Ctrl+Shift+S at: C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save
    refer my last save location.jpg
Now i want to save another new file back to C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save, I open the file Adobe file2.pdf located at desktop and when i do Ctrl+Shift+S, the location point to my desktop and not C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save
refer my last save location change to desktop.jpg
I have tested this features in Adobe Reader 9 and it's different whereby it's will point according to my last location save.
There is no issue with computer as i have 3 machine running different enviroment, Windows XP SP3, Windows 7 Enterprise, and all using same version of Adobe Reader X version 10.0.1.
    So my questions & concern:
Is there any way to change the save location features same as Adobe Reader 9?
If YES, how to do it? By Computer Changes or Adobe Reader X packages modification using Adobe Customization tools?
If NO, Where can i find this source of documentation stated about this new changes so i can publish this information in HP website as new design changes to avoid complaint or negative feedback.
Looking forward for expert reply as soon.
Thank you very much and Have a great day.
    Best Regards

    Solved it!
    1-go to "edit", select Preferences.
2-select from the left pane: Security (enhanced)
3-click on "add folder path" button just below the big white box
4-pick a folder of your choice and click "ok". (your selected folder path will appear in that white box above the "add folder path" button in step 3)
5-if you want to add additional folders, just repeat steps 3 & 4
6-once you are done, click "ok" on the preferences screen and click "ok" again to accept the changes.
Yes, it seems illogical, but it worked.
I tested by closing the Reader (X), then surfed the web and did what Neher5 was explaining he/she wanted to do just after opening a pdf from a website and lo-and-behold,  it worked!. No more "save to temp folder" issues.
    Hope this helps.

  • Restore only latest versions of files in a simple save backup drive

When I go to restore (transfer) files to a new computer from my HP simple save drive, how do I select only the latest backup versions of ALL files (photos, docs, music, etc...)?
    Thank you

If you have applied raster layer effects in illustrator, then it won't work because you no longer have a vector image.
What is the zoom factor of your composition window? What is the resolution of your comp window? If you would post a screenshot of your composition with the properties of the layers in question revealed by pressing the u key twice maybe we would have a clue what you are doing wrong. It's quite difficult to come up with an answer with out some details. We need more details.

  • Simple Save HP MD1000H on Mac

Simple Save support helped me get this loaded on my MAC.  How do I activate the download?

    Hi,
No by definition, you can connect it to a router which supports sharing USB external HDD. There are many around such as a Netgear D6300 (which I'm using now) but definitely not NAS. In short you can share it on your homw network but not as a NAS by definition.

  • HP Simple Save 2 TB External Hard Drive (3.5-inch, USB 2.0) Broken HELP!

OK so I've searched around for a solution to my problem but have found no answer so I'm trying here.
I've had my HP Simple Save 2 TB External Hard Drive for a few of years now, it's served me great, I used it for storing all my photos but the usb connector has snapped off from the small CD drive inside the casing.
This has simply been through use, it was working fine, not wobbly or mistreated in any way, it must have just came to the end of it's life and now I can't hook it up to my computer to get the photos, I'm desperate to get them back, wedding photos, birthdays etc most of you must know how I'm feeling.
So I looked up a few solutions, one was to buy a USB-to-IDE/SATA adapter and use that to connect to the computer, well it works as far as recognising that a device is connected but won't load the files or folders to view.
As I've looked around apparently the small CD drive that's inside the case has software that my computer automatically loads? Now this is where I'm lost, how do I manage to get this to work?
I'm almost at my wits end, as far as looking every single day on Amazon and eBay to buy a new one to transfer the CD drive onto the broken one to load it up and get my photos back, IF that would even work, I'm not sure.
So if you have any suggestions/help please please get in touch, thanks.

In case anyone it´s interested I restore the autorun.inf into the drive and the problem was that I put all the toshiba software into one folder to be more organized. As soon as I place it back again outside the folder (in the root of the hard drive). It grab the canvio image.

  • Simple save

my computer is not recognizing the simple save.  it will not appear on the printer etc folder.  how can i get software to download  and try and figure out why all of a sudden the simple save it not working.

    Hello fredsfriend,
I am not sure if I can help but I will give it a shot. Remember on a forum you have to be very literal as a persons intension or meaning can be misinterpreted.
So I dont know what "the simple save" is unless you mean the program you are using simply wont "Save" a document and such.
Also I'm not sure what "printer etc folder" is. Do you mean you are scanning a document and it will not "Save" on your computer or you cannot find where the Save option is?
If I am on the understanding you correctly, tell me what computer and model number you have.
How to find my Desktop PC model number
How to find my Laptop PC model number
Tell me what the operating system version is too. Windows XP or Vista, 7, 8, 8.1.
Also if using a printer, tell me what the model number is for that too.
How to find my printer model number
If your having trouble with a certain program, tell me what the program is and the steps you are taking to use it when it fails.
Im at work right now and will be back later today to check on your post.

  • Hp Simple Save 500gb Drive Not Recognized

Hello! I own the HP Simple Save 500gb external hard drive. I mainly used it on my dell computer, which ran Windows 7. Out of no where it stopped recognizing it all together. I got a new laptop after a year or so, and suprise cant get it to recognize on windows 8 either. Normal I would look into reformatting it etc, however, my brothers wedding photos are on it. I would like to figure out how to be able to access this drive again, on either laptop..I still have both, but would prefer the windows 8 one.  Please get back to me as soon as possible!
    -AshleyR092

    Ashley,
Sorry to hear this. I am a little confused about your time frame here.
It worked on the Dell until a year ago so you bought a windows 8 computer and it worked on that until just recently?
Or it never has been recognized on the Windows 8 computer?
And when you say "not recognized", you cannot see it at all in Disk Management? is this correct?

  • HP Simple Save Drive now RAW

On Dec 19th my 1.5T Simple Save backup drive was working fine with years of backup data on it. I shut the computer (HP Pavilion d5200t ,W7 64bit) down properly for a vacation. Power was off to the Surge Master supply.
On Dec 30th , boot seemed normal BUT  SimpleSave would not load. I eventually found the drive has been changed to RAW and is completely empty.  Is there any chance the data can be recovered?
The HPLauncher application is in a separate partition on the drive which still exists.

  • HP simple save hard drive

I dropped my HP simple drive on the floor after saving files in it. Tried opening it on my laptop if it's ok but it won't let me run it. I wanna know if I will still be able to retrieve all the save files from it esp. the pictures of my daughter since birth. Can someone help me solve the problem, please?

You can search the web for "how to open a simple save drive". It quite simple process, U-Tube videos have been made of the process. Then you'll need an adapter to test the hard drive.

  • HP Simple Save external drive

Hi, we have an HP Simple Save external drive. At the begining it worked fine then we had problems to open it as it took quite a while for it to appear on the finder, but eventually it show and we were able to keep using it for back up. However now we are trying to access our info and we just can find it on the finder, besides the annoying launcher icon. Can someone please help me access my info through any other way? should I try this on a Microsoft desktop?

Are you using HP's software to back up? If so, see what instructions/help/support/forms they have. You're not likely to find folks here that know much, if anything, about HP's software.
If you're using Time Machine to back up, try repairing the backups, per #A5 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).

  • Hp simple save model md1000h

I have this external drive that will not respond . I am running windows 7. When I click on the HP launcher it will ask to format the drive. I do not want to loose my back-up information.

    Just a quick note:
Simple Save is just the backup software that came with that external Drive when you purchase it.  Assuming you have not done anything unusual to the disk drive, it is just a normal drive containting a normal folder and sub-folder structure within it.
Open a Windows Explorer window (called File Explorer on Windows 8) and scroll down along the left side -- you should see a list of your "mounted" disk drives, one of which will be that external drive.  For example, your main disk is your "C" drive.  This external disk will have a different label / name.  Maybe it will be "F" or something along with the name "Simple Save" or some such thing.
If the drive is at all able to accept input, you might be able to just click into the contents - that is, just click into the disk like you would any other folder.  If it accepts that and all seems well, it may be the program launcher that is out-of-whack.
You might be able to run Error Checking on the disk ... depends on what it does when you try to access it using normal Windows commands.   IF you can at least look at the data, you might want to try and copy the most important files first... on the other hand, the disk may be fragile and unstable.  You will have to look and decide the best course.
Right Click on the Disk > Properties > Tools > Error checking
