Simple servlet doing a Get method.

Question

I've tried to use the below code to call a URL using get function. Although it seems to produce a POST. Waht is wrong? I'm looking for a way to simulate an URL get call.
Please help.
url = new URL("http://mycomputer/cgi-bin/ccmInterface?cmd=verify&serialno=test");
HttpURLConnection conn = (HttpURLConnection url.openConnection();
conn.setRequestMethod("GET");
conn.setDoOutput(true);
PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(conn.getOutputStream());
out.flush();
out.close();
