Simple Slide Show  makes all photos landscape. Why?

I am trying to make a simply slide show and all photos are incorporated in "landscape" mode no matter whether they were taken in the usual landscape orientation or in a "portrait," or vertical, orientation. So all the portraits of people where the photo was shot by turning the camera 90 degrees clockwise show the subject horizontally in the slide show. How can I rotate these photos 90 degrees counterclockwise to get them back to the orientation in which they were taken? I opened the Simple Slide Show .PDF in Adobe Acrobat but when I rotate one picture 90 clockwise, all photos in the show are rotated 90 degrees clockwise. John Wirt

Since you said Simple Slide Show, my guess is that you have Elements version 3.
You did not say how if your camera photo files are designating that this was a portrait mode photo. There is an orientation indicator that many (but not all) cameras set indicating that the camera had been turned to portrait orientation when taking the photo.
My experience has been that if the camera is setting this indicator, then when I first view a portrait photo in the photo well, it looks OK. Whereas if the camera does not set this indicator, the photo initially appears on its side and I must rotate it myself.
What did you initially see in the Photo Browser for these photos - as a portrait or on its side?
My suspicion is that there is a bug in the Elements 3 slide show that it is not recognizing this orientation indicator and that is why you see a portrait photo on its side.
If your camera does set the orientation indicator, a circumvention is that before you do any edits on such a photo, in the Organizer Photo Browser well, rotate it 90 degrees one direction and then rotate it back to its original position. Then it will probably appear ok in your simple slide show. This cicrumvention has worked for many people.

I do not see a way to disable the Picture Frame icon.  I looked at Settings-Picture Frame, but none of the options turns it off.  The only way I can thinik of, would be if all of your photos had been deleted.  If there were no photos, you couldn't have a slide show!
One thing to try is to reset (reboot) your iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

  • Trying to get simple slide show to work.

Can anyone tell me why this simple slide show isn't working on the left side of my page? The black and white image should be changing and showing two other images every 2.5 seconds.

    Assuming you're following these steps
    http://www.javascriptkit.com/howto/show2.shtml
You seem to have omitted the name attribute in the <img> tag described in Step 3.
I'm still not sure if that fixes it but see how you go.

  • In Photo 1.0, how does one access the map showing where all photos were taken, as could be done previously in iPhoto?

In Photo 1.0, how does one access the map showing where all photos were taken, as could be done previously in iPhoto?

    Hi JohnDory,
The information side-bar from iPhoto has been removed in Photos App, and so it's been converted into a pop-up window showing both the exposure, aperture and so technical photo parameters, as well as the comments, faces and LOCATION for that photo.
This small floating window is shown whenever you click the button in the app title bar, right clicking a specific photo or pressing ⌘i
If you open the albums view (clicking in the name of the album list, NOT an album name, you can see in your left sidebar - which can be shown or hidden) and press ⌘i without selecting a specific photo the Info pop-up will show the map for your whole library (as well as the total amount of photos, videos, GB used, etc)
So, I'm afraid the "Locations" view (which I really loved) from iPhoto has been ripped off... and we can only get "some sort of locations view" by this method.
As for locations... there is no option for manual geotagging (so, setting location to a specific photography which doesn't have it yet)... that really ****** me off

  • HT204347 HOW DO I DOWNLOAD A SLIDE SHOW OR A PHOTO FILE TO A FLASHCARD?

HOW DO I DOWNLOAD A SLIDE SHOW OR A PHOTO FILE TO A FLASHCARD?

The way that you would transfer photos from iPhoto to the iPad would be to sync with iTunes. Connect the iPad to your Mac with the cable and launch iTunes. Select your iPad under the devices heading on the left. Then click on the Photos tab in the iTunes window on the right. You can select the folder from which you want to sync your photos in the drop down menu bar - so select iPhoto there. Then select the album or events that you want to sync from the windows below. After you have made your selections, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
I am not sure how the iPad will handle a slide show in the photos app that was created on your Mac. You can create basic slide shows on the iPad using the different albums, events or faces that you have in the Photo app, but as for the captioning that you have already set up, I don't know how that will work in the app when you sync the slide show.

  • How to make slide show out of photos

I have about 60 .jpg's I like to make into a slide presentation. What I would like to be able to do is give a friend/relative a disk and all they would have to do it....well, nothing. I'd like it to open on my image number 1. I would like the image to stay on the screen until it's manually advanced by "clicking" on it or on and "advance" button. It seems like it should probably be easy, but I can't figure it out. I'm not adverse to using third party software. I want the images to be as clear as possible. Am using OS X Maverick with 32 GB of ram.
    Thanks in advance.

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto (see this:  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2423 ), iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

  • Wanna make a slide show of my photos and burn to dvd

I just got my mac.  Novice at best.
However, I am a quick study.
    Tech nerd.
I want to make a slide show of photos and burn to a dvd for my "non-tech" parents to play in their dvd player.
    What's the easiest way.

The easiest way is to use iDVD; however, Apple doesn't bundle that with new Macs and you can't buy it from the App Store. It is apparently still available on iLife disks, but you'd want to check the label.
iPhoto will create a nice slideshow which can be converted to a movie. Then you will need something like iDVD or Toast to create the DVD.  http://support.apple.com/kb/VI195
As you say you are new to Macs, I don't imagine you have an old copy of iDVD on another Mac.

  • A simple slide show

    Hi,
is there a way of selecting a number of photos and showing a full screen "slide show" on my pc monitor? I've tried selecting a number of photos and then using "View full screen", that nearly does what I want but gives inconsistent results, sometimes it runs, sometimes it stops, sometimes it shows unexpected photos.
I tried the "full" slide show thing but I'm just clicking "no" all the time and the result, a wmv, is slow to produce and not good quality to look at.
    Thanks,
    John

    >not to mention recatalogueing (why don't they do migration tools?)
    John,
Come back on this one - I don't understand why you conclude you need to recatalog. My catalog upgraded from PSE 3 to PSE 4 and I worked with someone who came from PS Album 2 to PS Elements 4 and their catalog successfully upgraded from PSA 2 to PSE 4.

  • Simple slide show

I am just beginning to learn Flash for work. I want to make a
slide show for my parents' anniversary. Should I do this in Flash
or is that making it more difficult than necessary. I'd like to use
it though to reinforce what I'm learning ? I'll most likely have to
    run it on a television.
    Thanks in advance.
    Gretchen

I wouldn't use flash as a video editing tool (especially for
tv output). Exporting flash to avi (or related dvd media) is
sometimes hit or miss when it comes to quality. Do you have any
actual video editing tools? I would rather use the crappy Microsoft
Movie Maker before flash for a simple slideshow to tv.

  • So you need to use timeline for a simple slide show?

Do you have to do anything with the timeline to run a simple
looped slide show with no sound. What is a good rate (fps)? I am
desperate. Why does it not advance to the next slide? How do you
reset the program to its original defaults.
    Thanks

Beyond adding your images and animating them...no. But not
sure what you are referring to
specifically when you ask what you have to do with the
timeline - you certainly need the timeline to
animate something over time. Flash will loop by default
    unless told to stop.
What is a good rate (fps)?
"good" is relative - depends on your needs - 1 frame rate may
be good for some projects and very bad
for others - depends on how heavy the animation is.
    I am desperate.
    Desperate for what exactly?
    Why does it not
    > advance to the next slide?
Impossible to say without looking under the hood - "slide"?
Are you using slides or the main
timeline? We have no idea how your FLA is setup so we can't
possibly troubleshoot it - provide some
specific information or better yet the source file and we
    will take a look.
How do you reset the program to its original
    > defaults.
Not sure what you mean - default what? Panel layouts? Doc
Properties? Why would this solve your
problem(s)? The only way is to reinstall flash i believe -
why do you need to do this?

  • Best way to create slide show with last photo having links

What are some of the best ways to create a slide show (more like a season greeting flash) with the last photo having links and buttons for the viewer to click?
I already have the code for the slide show. What I need now is how do I reference or point to a keyframe that contains the last slide as the background with buttons and hyperlinks? Perhaps, I also need a way to not showing this slide until the last? How do I do that? This last slide with buttons and links are on it's own layer.
The other route would be to create the buttons and hyperlinks in the AS3 code instead of design time. If so, how do I do on the last slide?

  • I created a slide show using my photos on iphoto can I burn this to a dvd with the music in the backgroun

I created a slide show using photos from iphoto and I was able to put it to music to view it on my mac. I am trying to figure out a way to download it or burn it to a DVD with the music in order that it can be given as a gift. Also is there a way to use multiple songs for the slideshow.
    thanks much

First if you slideshow requires more than one audio track go to iTunes and create a new playlist with the music you want.  You can take the total time of the playlist and divide by the number of slides to get the approximate playing time for each slide.
In iDVD go into the slideshow window and then click on the Audio button at the right.  Locate the playlist and drag it into the music bin at the bottom of the window.
Be sure that non of the audio tracks are DRM protected tracks from the iTunes store.  You won't be able to use them if they are.  And remember this is only for slideshows created by iDVD from still photos imported from iPhoto.

  • App icns files showing in All My Files - why?

For some reason .icns files within applications are showing in the All My Files view (under Images).
Any idea why this is happening and how I stop them from showing?
    Many thanks,
    M.

Solved it.  I downloaded Apple's Icon Composer tool that allows you to open .icns files and just opened and saved each .icns file.  The files then stopped showing in All My Files.  Odd.
