Simple support Apple makes hard - where's the 10.4 documentation?

Anyone have a clue how/where to access the latest 10.4 PDF documentation? If you go to Support -> Servers -> Tiger, the only documentation resource link there goes to the latest version (10.5). Searching Apple's site is pointless - Apple seems to think server software is like an iPod: new one comes out you can forget last weeks model.

Try this:
http://support.apple.com/manuals/#mac%20os%20x%20server%2010.4

    Writing in pages in Afrikaans. Spellcheck keep on correcting to dutch. Switched off spell check and also looked in System preferences - keyboard. this stops the "Auto-correct" but does not help me with Afrikaans or other language spell check.  Where do I get languages other than what Apple offer and where is the dictionary, Library, spelling files.

    You are basically limited to what Apple deigns to offer.
    Try LibreOffice [free] which has a huge selection of languages.

  • Where is the WLSTUtil API documentation

    I've been playing around with Python/Jython and WLST.
    But I cannot seem to find the API for the WLST commands.
    I can get code completion in eclipse that gives me all the possible commands for a certain variable for a dataSource say. But where are the commands/API of each Jython class that WLST defines, documented?
    For instance, if I run a configToScript, I get a script that has the following lines:
    jdbcSR = create(dsName,"JDBCSystemResource")
    theJDBCResource = jdbcSR.getJDBCResource()
    theJDBCResource.setName(dsName)
    And in eclipse, theJDBCResource code completion shows me the methods on that member variable. But where is the documentation for that jython class.
    I looked here (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs92/javadocs/index.html?weblogic/deploy/api/spi/WebLogicDeploymentManager.html) but that again does not contain the WLSTUtil class.
    BTW: I ran writeToIniFile and got:
    from weblogic.management.scripting.utils import WLSTUtil
    import sys
    origPrompt = sys.ps1
    theInterpreter = WLSTUtil.ensureInterpreter();
    WLSTUtil.ensureWLCtx(theInterpreter)
    execfile(WLSTUtil.getWLSTScriptPath())
    execfile(WLSTUtil.getOfflineWLSTScriptPath())
    exec(WLSTUtil.getOfflineWLSTScriptForModule())
    execfile(WLSTUtil.getWLSTCommonModulePath())
    theInterpreter = None
    sys.ps1 = origPrompt
    modules = WLSTUtil.getWLSTModules()
    for mods in modules:
    execfile(mods.getAbsolutePath())
    wlstPrompt = "false"
    ~
    That tells me that all the jython classes are in WLSTUtl class. Just need to get at the javadoc for it.
    The weblogic.management.scripting.utils package does not contain WLSTUtil as expected.
    Thanks

    i couldn't find the api either however if you implement the class you will simply get compiler errors explaining what you left out.

  • Where is the official Oracle documentation that describes Hot Backup?

    I have used the woefully inadequate Metalink search utilities and Google but the nearest thing I have found is a description on "Ask Tom".
    I am looking for the official Oracle documentation that describes what happens internally during a Hot Backup. There are a lot of web sites and blogs out there that describe it but I am looking for the description from Oracle themselves. The only things I have found in the Oracle documentation so far is how to start and stop Hot Backup but not what happens internally. Preferably 11gR2 if it makes any difference.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks mseberg. This is what I was looking for. I had read this manual before but apparently glossed over this paragraph:
    "When performing a user-managed online backup, you must place your datafiles into
    backup mode with the ALTER DATABASE or ALTER TABLESPACE statement with the
    BEGIN BACKUP clause. When a tablespace is in backup mode, the database writes the
    before image for an entire block to the redo stream before modifying a block. The
    database also records changes to the block in the online redo log. Backup mode also
    freezes the data file checkpoint until the file is removed from backup mode. Oracle
    Database performs this safeguard because it cannot guarantee that a third-party
    backup tool copies the file header before copying the data blocks."
    Hot backup is still quite useful and Rman doesn't cover all cases. What we are doing with it is using storage-based replication (Shadow Image) to another set of LUNS which we then mount on another server and backup using Rman. This removes the overhead of Rman on the Production Database server and extends our backup window to almost 24 hours.

  • Where's the OES2 SP1 documentation?

    Novell Documentation takes us to the documentation for OES2 SP2. This is now the current release (just released) of OES2.
    Since NOWS SBE2 2.5 is based on OES2 SP1, and has just been released, the OES2 SP1 documentation is still needed.

    Thanks Paul,
    I don't believe that link was there at the time of the original post. I knew about that link but I'm glad you posted it so others have access to it.
    There is one issue that still remains: The links in the NOWS SBE documentation retrieve the OES2 SP2 documents. This is still to be resolved but at least we now have a way to retrieve the correct documents.

  • HT201272 I have always had and used the same Apple ID, so where are the rest of the songs I bought from itunes? I've bought at least 400 songs and I only am being able to download 178. Where are the rest of my purchases?!

    I have always had and used the same Apple ID. I have changed credit card information on my Apple ID account several times though. Does that make a difference when downloading past purchases? I'm very angry at Apple and Itunes because I have been using itunes since 05/2005 and I do not have even close to the amount of songs and albums that I have purchased from itunes. If the credit card info does make a difference even though the account is the same one then itunes needs to make sure to notify users of this because I am not the only one who is wondering this same thing. I have numerous friends who i've talked to about this and they say the same thing, that they too have songs purchased in the past that have disappeared when trying to download past purchased items. It should not make a difference. $12 is $12. Especially since I have ALWAYS used the same account. If itunes does not change their ways, I will not be purchasing songs or anything else for that matter from them ever again. I will go back to buying CDs where I KNOW that it will always be with me and I don't have to deal with this. I will also make sure to find a better more reliable source to download music from and will make sure everyone I know and come in contact with knows what it is and how much better it is than itunes. There should be no experation date on the music I PURCHASE, nor should there be any other little loop holes that allow itunes to rob us of rightfully purchased products. What's the deal itunes??

    So I basically won't run into any trouble? I
    There should be no issues. Its designed to work like that.  You don't change Apple IDs just because you get a new device.

    Is there any chance that the phones can fall out of sync?
    Unlikely. But nothing is impossible.   Though I don;t see how that would happen. As long as both are signed into the Same Apple ID / iCloud Account they will be N'Sync. (Bad Joke)

    If I get a message or buy an app or take a photo on the iPhone 5, how do I get those things onto the iPhone 6?
    If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
    Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
    SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.
    Images, can be transferred either through Photo Stream
    My Photo Stream FAQ - Apple Support
    Or any Cloud service you want such as Dropbox, or One Drive.
    mannyace wrote:
    Also, something i forgot to ask initially: Should I update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8 first or does that not matter?
    If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important.

  • It's not as simple as Apple make it out to be?

    I'm considering the switch back to Apple after a few years in the PC wilderness, but I do need to retain an element of compatability with Windows.
    So, Boot Camp seemed ideal. However, there are so many problems posted here that I'm getting kinda worried about my proposed purchase.
    The only time I've seen XP running on a Mac was in my local Apple store. It booted, but the sales assistant couldn't get the mouse or keyboard to respond. It wasn't a good sales advert.
    Am I being too cautious?
    Si.

    .... and Windows newsgroups and support forums are any different?? The forums are devoted to problems. Ever take a look at the OS X Leopard forum?
    It depends (obviously) on what computer, what programs, etc. wireless, BT, graphics. And don't base it on what you saw in a store. Macs use EFI (UEFI64 on Mac Pro) and XP 32-bit doesn't know enough about EFI, therefore the need to help convince XP and trick it into installing. EFI is support, on 64-bit hardware in Vista SP1 using 64-bit version.
    You may be fine running XP in a VM like Parallels to retain a certain element of compatibility with Windows, rather than running native.
    Vista 64 doesn't work well on MacBook, but 32-bit does, while on Mac Pro you are better off with Vista Ultimate x64 which I use Vista 90% of the time. My sister uses Vista on new laptop after using XP for years, and Mac laptops before that.

  • Photos iTunes Apple tv issue - where are the photos?

    Hi - We've  just installed Apple tv.  In iTunes, I went to File/Home Sharing/Choose Photos to share with Apple tv.  Followed the instructions, hit "Apply", and it appeared to work (I'd chosen an iPhoto Event with only 3 photos in it, and the window under "Home Sharing" now says 3Photos).  So all looks fine, except I have no idea where to find the photos in iTunes.  (I'd expected an icon would turn up under the iTunes Library list)
    If anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate it - thanks!
    Lynne

    Oh gosh thanks so much, it never occurred to me to go to the Apple TV screen - this has much more to it than I'd imagined - I'd only heard that people watched things and played games etc that we have no interest in, and we only got it because I found out about the mirroring, and that I could use the tv as a 2nd monitor - which I'd love to do when in iPhoto and iMovie.  It appears to either store copies of the photos or keep the link intact...I'm wondering what its capacity is if it stores.
    But - I'm not going to bother you or anybody else with more questions, until I've spent a lot more time on this myself.  For the moment, I'll use the mirroring - just once, to review my very old photos inherited from grandparents - when my cousins who did the initial research come over we can all look at them on the tv screen - I scanned them all, and they show SO much better than the real photos do - we'll be able to see them as we never have before.
    Then I'll give this Apple TV to our son and his family, and replace it when I have more time than I do at the moment to enjoy learning all about it.
    Thank you so much for your help -
    Lynne

  • Will apple make Siri available for the iPod touch

    I have an iPod touch 4g and I think it would be cool to have Siri but sadly apple has not done that yet. I hope they do it soon. Does anybody have any information about this.

    Unless and until Apple releases an iPod that uses the dual-core processor compariable to the chip in an iPhone 4S or an iPad 2, Siri will never run on an iPod.
    Not only does Siri need some serious computing power, Siri also has to have access to Apple's data servers, and if I were a betting man, I'd wager that Apple and the various cell phone carriers have some interest in getting its customers addicted to having instant access to its data servers via 3G and 4G networks....
    Just sayin'.....

  • Apple...where is the fix for iTunes 9.2??

    It looks like many people are having problems with the 9.2 update. My trouble is with syncing. I have an 80GB iPod Classic. Whenever I plug it in to the computer, iTunes starts to sync, but then it freezes. I thought it could be an iPod issue, so I restored the device. Now, I have an iPod with no music on it. This issue is starting to get very frustrating. Apple, will there be a solution soon??

    When you start the sync it will freeze for say 20 second and then starts up again. I had the same problem and did the same trouble shooting. task mgr said not responding and I said lets see what happens and let it go. After a few second it went. I have not had a problem yet. I plugged in the wifes and no problems!!?? Go figure??

  • Now that bridge support has been pulled, where are the updated docs for valid MXI tokens?

    Since CS6 Bridge support has been inexplicably pulled from Extension Manager. So I need to find a way to install Bridge scripts. I'm after current documentation on the MXI format. Can someone point me to it? Thanks!
    ...Mike

    You can find all the tokens and their corresponding directory on Windows and Mac from http://help.adobe.com/en_US/extensionmanager/cs/using/MXI_tech_note.pdf. Also the FAQ link in the Extension Manager user forum page (http://forums.adobe.com/community/creativesuites/extensionmanager/faq) describes how to install extensions for Bridge CS6 manually.
    Another way is to copy configuration sub-directory from Bridge CS5/5.5 to Bridge CS6, and modify all the version-related values in XManConfig.xml accordingly. Then launch Extension Manager CS6. Bridge CS6 will be listed in Extension Manager CS6. You can install extensions for Bridge as usual. But we don't give you any guarantee for it.

  • Where is the "Push" service documentation.

    Does anyone know where to find documentation about the Apple "fix" to the background application restriction with a push service, mention here:
    http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/06/09/appletackles_iphone_background_app_limits_with_pushservice.html
    Thanks in advance.

    Ouch this hurts !
    So at this point there is no way to create an application that changes the icon (a la default Calendar application) based on information retrieved from the network every so often right?
    No background services allowed, and no push notification service.
    Is this correct?
    Any one know what "in the future" means?
    (me crying ... )

  • Where is the Flex 3 documentation and help files?

    The page on Adobe.com gives all broken links (it redirects to the general help section, but does not link to the PDF or LiveDocs):
    http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flex/flex3.html

    *Bump*
    No comment at all on this?
    What is the use of integrating web comments and collected information into LiveDocs if you're going to yank it from the site without any warning anyway?
    How many carefully edited insights have been destroyed this way? Of course I have the PDFs lying around somewhere, but the web is made out of linked resources, and killing the online resources now broke half the tutorial articles on Flex 3.
    Is this the way Adobe is treating it's userbase?
    Just tough luck, suck it up and move on please?
    People, we have businesses to run on your technology. You don't just remove such a resource without at least giving your users a heads up.

  • Do all Macbook Pro hard drives have the apple sign on them?

    Hi there,
    November 2012 I bought a new Macbook Pro because my old one had beer spilled on it. I decided since I was getting a new computer I might as well as upgrade my hard drive. I bought a Seagate Momentous SSHD 750 GB. It is a hybird drive between SSD and HDD. I got my computer running on it with little effort and things were going well. 2 days ago My computer froze, which does not happen often. I held down the power button until the Macbok turned off. When I turned it back on it took me to recovery mode where I can pick between disc utility and reinstall the Operating System. I went into disc utility to verify and repair my hard drive. There were no issues. I decided re just restart my computer and move on.
    When I restarted a second time it took me back to recovery mode with out me doing the *command R* prompt. I checked my disc again and this time it said that I needed to reformat my hard drive. I tried to back up all my data however every tool I used was unable to saying the HD was not accessible. I erased the hard drive and tried to do a clean reinstall of the OS. I was unable to do so. The computer just keep going into an infinite loop when downloading the OS. It would get down to 8 minutes remaining and then jump magically back to 1 hour 45 minutes. After about 8 hours of letting it do that I canceled the process.
    I took the computer to a Mac Store and the guy there told me that because the hard drive was "third party" and not from apple, that Intel Macs running 1.8 had trouble talking to the firmware of those hard drives. I found this to be confusing because the hard drive worked well for 4 months with no issues. Also, I am not sure what he meant by third party seeing as apple does not make hard drives. He explained to me that "typically" the only hard drives I can use are the ones that have the apple sign on the label. They said that they could not honor my warranty because I didn't have the original hard drive with me. Once I get the original hard drive then they would fix it.
    My question however now is if it is really true that only apple labeled hard drives are the only ones that will work with my Mac Book Pro. The apple store wanted 220 euros for a new 500 GB hard drive plus another 80 euros for labor. I am fully capable of installing a hard drive and I am a cheap student. I don't want to pay that kind of cash. I have looked online and there are several retailers who claim to be selling Mac Book Pro hard drives however the images do not contain an apple label. I am not sure if I am understanding the label thing correctly, the Apple guy were speaking German and English is my first language.
    I appreciate any help and advice!

    I have performed verify and repair on the hard drive from the disc utility and everything checks out on the hard drive. I am not getting any error messages. I am unable to load my operating system back on it however. Last night I finally was able to get past the download portion of the OS install and it restarted and brought me to a screen that shows it installing the OS. It never loads on the progress bar however. To me it seems as thought the hard drive is having trouble writing any data to itself. What do you think? I am not getting any clicks from the hard drive like it is struggling,  I am not seeing any physical damage to the hard drive and disc utility says it checks out.  Thank you for your help!
