I believe there are two basic ways you could go about this.
1) Install the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) on the machine in question.
2) Use JSP to make a server side app that interacts via browser on the local machine.

More simple way for creating dummy variables

I am finding for more simple way for creating dummy variables.
For analyzing by linear regression, logistic regression ... creating dummy variables from categorical data is necessary.
Most simplest way for creating dummy variables is may be pivot function.
But I need more simple method.

Best way for building an application main frame

I'm about to program a desktop application.
The main frame will have menus, toolbar, status bar etc.
There will be a lot of interaction between the menus, toolbar buttons and other custom gui components (such as an editor).
My question is which is the best way for building it.
Cramming all the code in one class file is out of the question.
I thought about making my own custom JFrame and add API functions like for it so different GUI elements can be accessed.
Each component which will be manipulated will be in its own class file with the constructor accepting a reference to my custom JFrame object which it is contained in.
Any suggestions on the matter would be of great help since I've never done extensive Swing programming before.
P.S.
The application makes extensive use of RMI.
What considerations should I take into account (except using SwingUtilities.invokeLater()) ?

I have replied on this subject somewhere else today but what I do is have one simple entry point where I just instanciate a JFrame.
On that frame I have a main JPanel. On that panel I add new objects like JPanels, tabs etc.
I keep each new panel in a separate source as it is easier when the application grows, and it will. That also means that several programers can work with the same application without interfearing each other.
I hope you understand what I mean the the thing is to split up the code into several sources.
It may not suit everyone but I found this approach to be the best for me.

Did you check if Portal is running? If yes,
Do not deploy application directly from NWDS. Just generate the par file by (In Qucik Par Upload)-
chekcing the option Include the source code of the Portal application and,
uncheck Deploy par.
Now go to Portal
System Administrator->Support->Portal Runtime-> Admin Console.
Browse and Upload the par file here.
You can create a iView from par file and check your appliaction

Hosting application server useful for running developed applications?

For my online applications, I am going to host the application to run on internet using hosting server.
My doubt is, as like my local application server , Will i be apply to use the hosting server to run the application?
Or I need to use my local application server in that hosting server to exclusively run the applications ?

Is there an alternative to Rosetta for Running old applications?

Our company has a Canon C3220 Colour Copier and a ColorPass Z3000 RIP with about 30 Macs printing to it. The installer for the Z3000 driver is an old Power PC application that no longer runs in OS 10.7. Is there an alternative to Rosetta for running the installer? Or does anyone know how to manually install the components by copying them over from a Mac running Snow Leopard? I've tried moving over the driver and PPD from the latter and placing them in the same locations in the Library folder on the former, but then get an error when I try to create a printer in System Prefs.
I know the driver/PPD still works, as they work in Lion on Macs that have been upgraded from Snow Leopard after the driver was installed. I've looked around on the web and asked Canon about an upgraded installer, but they don't support this model anymore, even though it's not that old and was a VERY expensive setup to buy.

Not really. You can downgrade back to Snow Leopard, but only if you have a model that supports Snow Leopard.
Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

Now that Apple has dropped the price on Snow Leopard Server by 95%, I always recommend purchasing SLS in the first instance.

Run compiled application (LV 8.6) without run-time engine

Hi,
I just recently wrote a small 200KB program that performs simple calculations that I'd like to use on several different computers. The application works perfectly, but the problem is that I really don't want to go through the download/install/reboot process of installing the LabVIEW Run-time 8.6 software on every single computer (especially since downloading a 100MB file to run a 200KB program seems counter-intuitive). Is there a way to get the application to run without the engine? Previous searches resulted in old posts of people simply copying the engine files from the shared folder into the application directory, but that did not work when I tried it. Is this no longer possible on LV 8.6? I'll have no choice but to rewrite the application in a different programming language if LabVIEW isn't capable of running standalone compiled applications.

I made the test with LV 8.6 on Windows.
I used a VI which does not need any drivers neither serial nor any other hardware execpt the graphics card.
I made an application from this VI on my normal development machine and checked that it will start and work as expected.
I setup a NI free partition with Win XP Prof. SP2. I have some non NI programs installed like a virus scanner, defragmentation tool, Adobe Reader, a drive imageing tool and WLAN drivers. The .NET Framework 2.0 is installed.
I copied the application and all files under National Instruments\shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\8.6 to the machine in a temporary folder.
I booted the machine into this partition. The application will start and work as expected. You do not need to make a complete runtime installation until you do not need any drivers.
The above mentioned folder has a size of about 64 MByte. Dependent on the application and desired languages you can remove parts of it.

during the various LV 8.x versions it was possible to do it as described above exepct one version, 8.2 I think, which needed an ini-File in the Windows folder.

Sometimes i write exe files (for windows) in C to start Java applications. The exe file calls a simple ShellExecute( "java", "-jar blah blah" );
If you use a C compiler for Windows, you prevent the command line box to appear.

Best way for mouse enable application?

In my application I have a form with three blocks. 1st and 2nd block is not data base block. 3rd block is database block. My forms "defered required" property is No and "mouse navigation limit" property is form.
My 1st block 1st item required property is Yes. Also I have when-validate-item trigger in the 1st item and when-validate-record in the 1st block. After running the form I am in the 1st tiem. I did not enter any value into the item and click in the 2nd block 1st item by mouse. At that time when-validate-item and when-validate-record triggers are not firing. Also it is not asking for enter the value for this item.
So for this type of problem how to over? I can put in the form level validation for all the items. But I would like to do in the record level validation and item level validation. Is it possibel if yes could you please give me how to do it?

i am using sql server 2005. our company has many branches. each branch is located in different country. so when i update database in any country over the VPN connection then i need to update db in another country one by one over the vpn connection. it
is very tire some job....so i was think that there could be any easy trick to update multiple db in different country easily. so am developing a store procedure which will connect each DB in different database one after one over the vpn and read script from
sql file and execute the script in remote db over vpn. so please have look at my script and tell me how to do it. please do not advise me to use any 3rd party.

We have developed a J2ME application for browing/uploading/downloading files from mobile device but we need SSL certificates to make our application work on mobile phones.

Firstly, are the certificates purchased from an external Certificate Authority (CA) or internal?
On your Remote Desktop Session Hosts, can you bring up MMC, add the Certificates snap-in (for computer account, and then local computer)
Under Certificates\Personal\Certificates - check that the certificate you are using shows the small key symbol on top of the certificate icon (this indicates the private key). If you open the certificate, and select 'Certification Path' does it show three
levels of certificates, with all three certificates showing as 'This certificate is ok' under status?
If you repeat this process on one of your Windows 7 clients, (or from a server, and select 'Another computer' when adding the certificate snap-in) if you expand 'Trusted Root Certification Authorities\Certificates' and 'Intermediate Certification Authorities\Certficates'
are the certificates on the server matching those in your client?
If the CA is external, and they aren't present, you can manually update the list.
