Simple Web Auth policy and simple posture assessment policy in ISE

G'day All,
I've just finished reading through the Cisco BYOD with ISE document and it's left me a little more confused than when I started.
I completely understand the onboarding process and the different policy elements that make up the self registration/onboarding configuration.
What I'd like to do is put together an ISE configuration that is a lot simpler for the BYOD user.
Is anyone able to advise if it is possible to have a single dot1x SSID with ISE that has a policy for Window Laptops using AD authentication for the user and Posture assessment and a policy for all smart devices (iOS and Android) that is just AD authentication of the user, without the need for device registration?
The target user demographic for my deployment are really not technical so having to go through the onboarding process, especially for the Android devices, with the pre-installation of the cisco app, etc, really isn't what they are looking for.
Huge thanks for any assistance.
Cheers,
JS

Yes, that's possible. But without "device registration" then you need to configure Wireless 802.1x manually in every Android device.
Please rate if that helps.

  • Pre-login posture assessment - possible with ISE?

Does anyone know if it is possible (or not) to have a windows machine posture assessed on boot? ie. before anyone logs in on it. Currently, I have to log in on my machine before the assessment starts. It would be good to have assessment begin as soon as the machine boots so that (assuming the machine passes assessment) it is completed by the time I log in. We are using the NAC Agent with ISE1.2.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

As far as i know, the posture agent does not do anything before user has logged in, i have never seen a posture report in ise, that indicates anything else, because you would get many failed posture compliance checks, if it did (checking user keys, user files, av status and so on in machine land).

  • Compiling simple web application in samples

I recently downloaded the J2EE SDK and opened the indexSamplesDomain.html file under the samples directory. Clicked the simple web application link and proceeded to follow instructions to build the application. In this very first example I received an error stating that asant tool could not find the common-ant.xml file in the samples directory. Anyone have any idea the simplest example application has a bug in the build script????
    thanks

    Hi
You should have a variable called FORMACTION_22_0 ,what you could try as well is to remove the forms autocorrelation from the script:
In OpenScript: View -> OpenScript Preferences -> Correlation -> HTTP, click on the +* to open DOM Correlation, then double click on it and uncheck the action check box.
Then you will need to re-correlate the script.
    Script -> Correlate Script
That should remove all the form variables.

  • ISE Posture Assessment

    Hi,
While reading about ISE posture, I got to know that ISE searches” User Agent” attribute for string “NAC Agent” to confirm that NAC agent is present on particular machine. This information is passed to ISE when user opens Web Browser i.e. user gets redirected
If NAC agent is not present on machine then NAC agent will get downloaded and then Posture assessment starts.
While testing this on ISE, I noticed that
If NAC agent is already present on machine then directly posture assessment starts even without opening web browser.
Now my question is, how ISE does come to know that NAC agent is already present on machine without opening web browser.
    Regards,
    Aditya

I second Richard on the fact that it can't be done. However, I was going through this and wanted to share in case it helps.

    Hi,
I need to install a Web Auth bundle and when I download the file from cisco's webpage, its a .zip, but the WLC asks for a .tar file, so I converted it to a .tar and tried again but then it said file was too big.
Can someone please instruct me on how to do it?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Web Auth page not working on WLC

I have a WLC 4402 and I upgraded the s/w from 4.1 to 4.2.176 since I did the web auth on my Guest wlan does not work. I can connect to the wireless ok and when I type in a web address I should get the web auth page but I just get "This page cannot be displayed". However if i type in the ip address of the WLC in the addrsss bar I get the web auth page and it work fine form then on. The web auth page worked fine on ver 4.1. Any ideas?

I opened a TAC case this morning on this same problem, and my solution is what is listed above (config network secureweb cipher-option sslv2 enable)
Basically, SSLv2 is disabled in 4.2. The Default is now SSLv3.
Depending on your Internet settings, if IE is configured to use SSLv2, the webpage will not work.
So in internet explorer, tools, internet options, advanced, There will be a checkbox next to Use SSLv2. (Even if Use SSLv3 is enabled, you still have the https issue).
Basically, my issues was that a select few users could not Web authenticate and a select few admins couldn't HTTPS manage the GUI. Turns out in all cases, the computers that were all able to work, did not have SSLv2 enabled.
By enabling SSLv2, all affected users now work (I think).

  • Web auth not working on new controllers

We are currently experiencing a problem with web auth on one of our sites. This uses WiSM2 controllers running version 7.2.110.0 of the software.
The affected SSID is set up for web auth exactly the same way as our other site and that works (although that uses WiSMs running 7.0.230.0).
Both sites use the same web auth bundle and the same certificate. We have a DNS entry that points back to the virtual interface IP they all use which is 1.1.1.1.
When users connect to the SSID they are not being presented with the login page. Running a preview on the controller at the problem sites shows the correct page that should be being displayed.
The controllers have had the certificate re-applied, the web auth bundle reloaded on and have been upgraded from 7.2.103.0 to 7.2.110.0 but none of these have resolved the issue. All other SSIDs work fine, but this is the only one that uses web auth.
As I say, the only configuration difference is the hardware (WiSM2 vs WiSM) and the software level.
    Any suggestions?

When you mention that the login page does not open, that usually means that is a DNS issue. Make sure that you allow DNS from the guest subnet to the DNS server in which the FQDN of the certificate is being resolved.
Are you anchoring the guest ssid to an anchor controller? It would be the same troubleshooting, but make sure the anchor is configured correctly. The foreign wlc guest ssid needs to have a mobility anchor to the anchor wlc and the FW needs to allow DNS back in if your using an internal DNS server.
If you are not using an anchor wlc, the best way to test is to map the guest to another dynamic interface on the inside network that is working. If that works, your FW is blocking DNS on the guest subnet. You also can remove the FQDN (make sure it was entered correctly) from the VIP and test. If that fixes it, then DNS was not resolving the certificate FQDN.
    Hope this helps

  • Group Policy and GroupWise Attachments

My company uses the "Run only allowed Windows Applications" feature from Group Policy to lock down what can be run on our workstations. We have 2 main policies, a standard (lockdown) policy and an admin (open) policy.
Ever since a 7.0.2 GroupWise client/server upgrade, under my lockdown policy some of my users have complained that when they click the attachment button in GroupWise it no longer goes to the location of the last attached document, instead it goes to a default location. It might be the D drive, the GroupWise directory, it changes from computer to computer. I have confirmed that this is the behavior of the lockdown policy, and when I switch to the open policy the attachment button goes to the previous attachment location as is expected.
I've placed addrbook.exe, grpwise.exe, gwmailto.exe, gwreload.exe, gwsync.exe and notify.exe in my allowed list for executables and can't figure out what I might be missing. In the past I ahve found OCX and DLL files that have had to be specifically added to the policies as well to get certain functions to work, is it possible that this may be the case in my situation or could it be a completely different policy that I should be looking at?
I'm getting ready to push the 8.0.2 clients to my users and this is something that I'd like to try to resolve before I do that push. Thanks!

I just tore apart my group policy and found that using the Hide These Specific Drives and hiding the C: drive is what is causing this attachment behavior issue. Any ideas why it is causing this and any possible work arounds other than unhiding the C: drive?

  • Simple Web and regular Web Repository errors... Need Help

    Hello all!
We're running into a problem with Simple Web and regular Web Repository managers in our QA portal environment.  These repository managers work very well in our Dev portal, but now that we're trying to implement them in QA, of course they aren't working.  :-\
I set up a specific web site in our Web Repository manager.  However, when I navigate to the repository's folder in KM, it just hangs. When I go to the Component Monitor and look at the Web Repository manager, the server is in red. The Status is "startup failed" and the specific error is:
"2008-01-07T19:47:48Z: GET /WhitePages/Spider: com.sapportals.wcm.WcmException: sending request to: http://hostname.company.com/ request uri: /WhitePages/Spider Connection timed out:could be due to invalid address (java.net.SocketException: Connection timed out:could be due to invalid address)"
When I try to set up the same web site in the Simple Web Repository Manager, I receive the same error.  However, we shouldn't need a proxy configured because this is an internal web site.
This works in our Dev environment, so what configuration should I be looking at specifically?  Any tips from anyone?
    Thanks in advance to everyone!
    Fallon

    Hi,
As far as I know such type of problems are common in repositroy managers.
They work on one and don't on the other.
Possible reasons could be the connectivity and access issues.
As u r saying that it is an internal website pls chk connectivity of the QA system with the webserver.
Check ur Repository manager's configuration once again in Sys Admin.
Last option is to create a new Web RM in QA.
I know it is irritating but doesn't takes much time right.
    i hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Sumit

  • Difference between mobile web dynpro and simple web dynpro application

    Hi Everyone,
Can anyone pls let me know what's the difference b/w mobile web dynpro application and an offline or simple web dynpro application.
    Thank U!!
    Ravi Aswani

    Hi ,
    Mobile WebDynpro
The SAP Web Application Server allows direct online access to Web Dynpro applications using mobile devices. As part of the SAP Web Application Server, Web Dynpro provides a development and runtime environment with which you can quickly and simply create professional user interfaces for desktop PCs or for mobile devices. An appropriate infrastructure and renderer classes are provided for developing mobile Web Dynpro applications for Pocket PCs as well as for BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds and Nokia Series 80 devices.

    WebDynpro Java
Web Dynpro is a client-independent programming model of the SAP NetWeaver technology platform for developing user interfaces for professional business applications. It is based on the model view controller paradim which ensures that the business logic is separated from the presentation logic. This architecture is visible in the Web Dynpro perspective of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS).
Web Dynpro helps you with the development of Web applications by:
    ·        Ensuring platform-independence with the meta model approach
    ·        Minimizing the implementation effort through declarative programming
    ·        Supporting a structured design process by applying the model view controller paradigm
    ·        Providing reuse and better maintainability by using components
    ·        Providing graphical support with tools in the Web Dynpro perspective
    ·        Providing the SAP NetWeaver Java Development Infrastructure (NWDI) which supports team work with different services such as source code versioning and the Central Build Service.

  • Simple web services and XA

WSI-15 indicates non-transactional WS, But WSI-16 indicates WS "use short-running,
    XA transactions"

A<WSI-15>Let me clear up any possible confusion. There is no inherent support for
transactions within the web service framework and in particular there is no way for
a web service client to demarcate a transaction. There are some emerging standards
(BTP,SOAP-CTX) that hope to address these issues but they really are in their infancy.
On the implementation side of the web service (with your stateless session EJB for
instance) there is however nothing to stop you using transaction. The actual business
process that you are invoking can and should have complete XA transaction support
which is what slide 16 eludes to.

  • JSP does not have visibility of java classes in simple Web Module Project

    Dear Experts
I am developing what I thought would be a very simple Web Module Project for a simple webservice
to allow a user to logon to Netweaver Portal with a simple logon and password.
I have not done this in over 8 years, and am somewhat rusty.
The webservice is package in  a .war and is deployed via an Enterprise Application project as a .ear.
The issue I am having is that I want to enhance the presentation of the webservice through the
provision of css and adding a couple of images. The "libraries" are visibile in the build path of web
    module project.
At the top of my .jsp for logon form I want to import some java libraries in order
to get String webpath = componentRequest.getWebResourcePath()"/":
    <%@ page session = "true"%>
    <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.resource.IResource" %>
    <%@ page import="com.sap.security.core.sapmimp.logon.SAPMLogonLogic" %>
    <%@ page import="com.sap.security.core.sapmimp.logon.SAPMLogonCertLogic" %>
    <%@ page import="com.sap.security.core.logonadmin.IAccessToLogic" %>
    <%@ page import="com.sap.security.core.logonadmin.ComponentAccessToLogic" %>
    <%  IAccessToLogic proxy = new ComponentAccessToLogic (componentRequest, aResponse, IAccessToLogic.ENV_LOGONCOMPONENT);
    final boolean inPortal = true;
    String webpath = componentRequest.getWebResourcePath()"/";
    // todo: find layout schema...
    aResponse.addResource(componentRequest.getResource(IResource.CSS, "css/main2.css"));
    %>
However, during runtime the libraries are unknown and I get the following SAPJ2 EE errors
indicating the methods etc are not known to the jsp:

  • Creation of a simple web site --- how to get started?

First, I have recently purchased CS5, which is a very nice bundle of fantastic software. However, the thought of mastering all of these packages is mind-boggling. I started by jumping around between different packages, looking at tutorial material, examples, etc. which was quite helpful for getting an overview of how some of them worked and how I might use them. Presently, I have two main objectives --- 1) use Photoshop for doing some painting of images, and 2) use Dreamweaver to build a web site for a friend who offers a place of refuge for homeless cats. I initially thought it might be good to start with the painting project, however, I have changed my plan, and would like to pursue the design of a web page that can be used to help people to find a cat that they can adopt. Note, this is a non-profit application, but one that I believe to be quite important. Here are some of my initial thoughts on this site:
    Site purpose:
To provide a web site for anyone to look at information on cats at this home, and how they
    can adopt one of them.
    Some features of the site:
    1. A cat database that I as the designer would create. This database would contain
an entry for each cat available for adoption. It would include such things as
the name, sex, age, paths to image(s) and/or video(s) of the cat, health status, etc.
Anyone accessing this site should be able to easily navigate around it and to examine
entries in this database. The client (designated person at the home offering cats
for adoption) would be given privledges to modify the database (add, delete, and modify
entries). The user interface for the client to update the database should be very easy
        to use.
    2. A simple form that could be used for information on someone that would like to adopt
one of the cats in the database or to make an appointment to go to the location where
the cat is being kept (for actual contact with the cat).
    3. Track number of visitors to the site
    Preliminary notes on the database
    Fields:
    - ID code (key) % Default: yymmddhrmnName (year-month-day-hr-min-Name)
    - Name
    - Sex (M / F)
    - Neutered / Not neutered
    - Age (estimated)
    - Type (breed)
    - Tagged (chip or ear marking)/ Not tagged
    - Checked In date (yy/mm/dd)
    - Checked Out date (yy/mm/dd)
    - Status (needs home / has home)
    - Social state (1,2,3,4,5)
    - Health state (1,2,3,4,5)
    - Companion state (1,2,3,4,5)
    - Image (file name) % multiple files allowed
    - Video (file name) % multiple files allowed
    - Medical/vet data (e.g. vaccinations, etc.)
    - General information (text on cat that includes comments, observations, etc.)
    Notes:
      * state = 1, Best
                    5, Worst
      Examples:
Social state = 5, very unfriendly, afraid, etc.
                                   3, can touch if careful
                                   1, very friendly, unafraid
Health state = 5, not in good health (e.g. infection)
                                   3, only minor health problems
                                   1, in very good health
Companion state = 5, must have another cat or cats as company
3, could be with other cat(s) company
1, does not need the company of another cat
Now, with this initial information (granted this is very rough), my question:
How, armed with CS5, should I attack the problem of getting this web site up and running?
Keeping in mind that I really would like to learn how to use CS5, and that this would be my first web site project.
Any suggestions, study plan, references, etc. would be welcomed.

In keeping with bregent's admonition - it will invariably turn out more complicated than you imagined, if only because the more you do with this the more you will think of to do. In addition to the excellent suggestions of David Power's books and w3schools, I would offer one other bit of advice: Simplify. Make  your initial project the simplest possible, and then gradually adding more and more features. That will make it easier for you - and this forum - to help along the way.
Perhaps as a first step, create a database with a few entries and then write code to retrieve the data.Even there you may find fields will need to be adjusted, added or removed or even redefined. Try all sorts of queries. Eventually you can create pages that will allow the input to be done with a form.
    Good luck with the project./

  • Need Suggestion to build a simple web service demo

I'm planning to build a demo using java packages JAX* for my team using my workstation and another standalone box.
I got a Sun One Web Services Platform DVD from JavaOne, but it only support Win200 or XP, too bad our company still using Win NT SP6.
I only need a very simple web service that will bring data from server DB. I knew I can download the JWSDP1.2, but there is no tutorial right now. And I have tried JWSDP1.1 but not really understand what it is doing(because only Hello world service is working). I need to do some modification to change the default server port from 80 to 81, and I need to modified localhost to [my-machine-name] so that the other machine can talk to the JWSDP server.
My question is how can I build up a web service demo really easy and quick and what tool should I used, any suggestion will be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
    Henry

    1. Use XML Spy Enterprise edition editor.
    2. Goto www.xmethods.com, select service you want to create demo of.
    3. Get its WSDL url.
    4. In XML Spy SOAP menu there is a command 'create new soap request'. Press that, enter the WSDL url. You will get a SOAP request.
    5. Edit SOAP request parameters. Type parameters of your choice.
    6. Press 'send request to server'. You will get SOAP response. It will contain result from the requested method.
    7. Paste that response inside a JSP.
    8. Write a local method which will return same response (remote method's return value) that came from remote web service.
    9. Paste that method inside abovementioned JSP. Replace static response in that JSP with the response generated by local method. The method parameters will come from client's SOAP request. Parse SOAP request to get request parameters. (As it's your demo, you know the data types of the parameters).
    10. Host that JSP on any Servlet/JSP engine.
    That makes your Web Service.
You can use any package like Aapche SOAP, AXIS or JAX-RPC to generate a SOAP client. Use the URL of JSP(step 10) as "endpoint".
Note: Indside JSP make sure that there in no endline and carriage return character. Otherwise it won't be a valid SOAP response.
    Good luck.
