Simplepass for windows (8.1) logon

I recently had my Windows 7 OS crash after shutting off during an upadte. I had my harddrive backed up and saved then wiped the HD. Windows 8.1 was then installed and I have not been able to load the simplepass onto my computer with teh windows fingerprint logon. Is there a way to get the fingerprint reader back as a windows logon tool? That was a big reason for why I purchased this computer a few years ago.

Hi @zoojenn22
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.
Even though this is a Commercial product,  I would suggest to uninstall HP SimplePass and reinstalled the latest version for Windows 8.1.
Thanks.

    Hi,
Only thing you can do now: wait. Unless you are a tester (for HP), all end users have to wait until MS has its Windows 8 operating system sorted out.

    Lonny,
The best way to authenticate users when they logon using SAP GUI for Windows, is to use SNC authentication in SAP GUi. Then, the browser iview will launch the GUI and the GUI will authenticate the user using their AD credentials issued during the Windows logon. You will need to setup an SNC library on both the ABAP system which the user is logged onto, and the workstation where SAP GUI is installed.
If you don't use SNC, and you just launch SAP GUI for Windows from browser, then an SSO2 ticket is used to authenticate the user to the ABAP stack, and this is not secure due to the fact that the SAP GUI session which is used to pass the SSO2 ticket is not protected - anybody can intercept the SAP GUI session, take the SSO2 ticket from this traffic and logon as that user - clearly this is bad security and needs SNC to make it secure.
    Thanks,

  • Need help with two-factor auth for windows logon using CSS

    Hi all,
I have been trying for a couple of days now to get two-factor auth for windows logon working on my X1C Type 3443.
I am running Windows 7 (64-bit) with Lenovo System Update 5.06.0007, Lenovo Solution Center 2.6.001.00, ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software 5.9.9.7282, ThinkVantage Client Security Solution 8.30.0031.00. If it's of any importance, my X1C was originally shipped with Windows 8, but I couldn't stand it and reinstalled Windows 7 instead.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the above programs in the following order:
    1) Install System Update and reboot
    2) Install Solution Center and reboot
    3) Install CSS and reboot
    4) Install Fingerprint Software and reboot
Everything seems to be working fine by itself, except that when I try to configure two-factor auth in CSS, the Fingerprint tab (on the left of the GUI) is greyed out and CSS tells me that I have no fingerprints enrolled. The Fingerprint Software, however, is working just fine and shows me as having a fingerprint enrolled there.
I have spent all morning searching for a solution, but everything I find dates back to 2011, when ThinkPads still came with ThinkVantage Toolbox. I obviously can't download that anymore, so I'm at a loss. Can someone please help? Thanks!

  • 'Secondary Logon' service for Windows servers - enable or not?

    Hi,
Since have only one windows server working as 'TS server' to remote employes on our network and another 04 (one for SQL, another for Exchange, another for File and another for DHCP/DNS), can we disable that service on all servers except TS server or we can
    disable it on all??
    >>> There is some services that depends on it?
    interesting article:
    http://tech-wonders.blogspot.com.br/2009/08/disable-secondary-logon-service-to.html
    useful links:
    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/sys_srv_secondary_logon.mspx?mfr=true
    http://www.blackviper.com/windows-services/secondary-logon/

Windows Secondary Logon allows administrators to log on with a non-administrator account to perform administrative tasks without logging off by using Run as option.
Enabling/Disabling depends from one organization to another.

  • Writing CSP (plz help) for windows logon

    Hi all,
I am using Gemplus GemXpresso 211 PK card for windows 2000 log on..
How to write CSP for the same?
Is there any "Cryptographic Service Provider Development Kit" available???
    Hope any positive reply.
    Thanks in adv.

    1) You need to contact GEMplus for the gory technical details of how to communicate with the card (probably there is a device driver written by GEMplus, you need to know how to communicate with the drivers). Check if the GEMPlus site has some technical information available.
    2) Search "CSPDK" in MSDN downloads ( http://msdn.microsoft.com ) , there is a download of the CSPDK. The sample programs do not work as is (you'll need to change some file names...), and you need to search the MSDN newsgroups ( news://microsoft.platformsdk.security - or http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups, require a .NET Passport, but it is free - just a single registration) and ask for help.
To make it work in a production environment, you'll need to submit the finished DLL to microsoft ( mailto : cspsign at microsoft.com ).
    3) Prepare yourself for a daunting task - your skills will be heavily exercised.

  • Jabber for Windows login to the IM&P but not to the CUCM

    Hi,
I have Jabber for Windows, IM and Presence Server 10.5 and CUCM 10.5. The problem is it says it cannot communicate with the server upon logging in. But if I typed a wrong username / password it says "Your username and password is not correct."
When I try to login to the IM&P it seems okay (even though without phone services). When I try to login to the CUCM it shows some problem.
I've create CSFMGUIDO device with password 12345. When I logon to the CUCM with the following credentials: mguido - 12345 it says "Unable to communicate with the server". When I logon to the CUCM with the following credentials: mguido - 00000 it says "Username and password is not correct".
I'm not using neither LDAP nor DNS. With Android Jabber all it's working correctly.
    Has anyone experienced this?
    Hope someone can help.
    Thank you.

J4W does rely very heavily on DNS, you should at least all required entries to hosts and lmhosts.
How are your servers defined under system -> server??
Are you able to log into UCMuser page??
Have you properly configured all user/device/line association, and created the necessary service profiles???

  • SAPGUI for Windows via Portal - problem with frame

We are launching SAPGUI for Windows via Portal to drive single sign-on via AD.  Our problem is that when SAPGUI launches, it is contained within an IE browser frame that causes some of the SAPGUI screens to not fit on the screen well.  Those same screens fit just fine if we launch SAPGUI directly.
Is there any way to launch SAPGUI from Portal, with SSO enabled, but without the IE frame around it?

  • Password Vault for Windows 7?

    Hello,
I have installed Windows 7 RTM on my laptop.  I've downloaded all the Lenovo ThinkVantage packs and utilities that I think I need, but the password vault does not appear to be installed or working.  I did install the Fingerprint Reader driver, and have enrolled my fingerprints, but I am not being prompted to save username/password at websites, and the Windows logon screen still shows the default MSGINA, not the Lenovo fingerprint logon.
    What have I missed?
    Thanks!
    -Christian

    Christian,
Try going to the Fingerprint Software Settings and check-mark the box that says "Use fingerprint scan instead of password when logging into Windows." This will allow you to use the finger scaner to log-in.  As far as saving user names and passwords, you will need to download the ThinkVantage Client Security Solution:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=migr-46391
Unfortunately Windows 7 is not yet supported.
Does anyone have a link to the beta ThinkVantage Client Security Solution for  Windows 7?

  • MARS - NFS on Unix Services for Windows and deleting files

    Hello !
I've prepared NFS server on W2k3 server with Unix Services for Windows installed. It works OK, the only problem is moveing/deleting files and folders. It seems like a problem with permissions for anonymous user. Does anybody have similar experience ?

If you receive the following error message "Error ./pnarchiver Thread 2051:PN-0102:SQL error: ORA-01005: null password given; logon denied" then there is a Problem with archiving to NFS server. The directories for the archiving are properly created on the server but those directories remain empty. The workaround is that an inter operability issue exists between MARS and CygWin NFS server running on Windows 2003 server. To work around such inter operability issues, replace the NFS server with Microsoft Windows Services for Unix.
