SimpleTap/tablet Icon Request-Screen Rotation

I'd like to see a tile that helps with screen rotation.  It is a bit slow if you need to rotate your screen by 180 or 270 degrees by pushing the button on the front of the tablet multiple times.  Usually, if I'm pushing the button I'm needing to rotate 180 degrees(so the pen that sticks out is on the top rather than the bottom of the scren).  What I propose is a simple tile in Simple Tap that will help with this.  When clicked, 4 boxes should pop out around the icon (one on top, bottom, left and right).  The current position should be highlighted a different color.  And there should be some type of Asymmetrical picture of an object that rotates so you can tell what the orientation will be.  For 180 degree rotations, this is pretty obvious but at least I would probably mess up frequently going forward or back 90 degrees.  Even something as simple as a stick figure with head, arms and legs would help determine screen rotation and orientation.  The top position should be the orientation for when the laptop is in laptop mode.

I thought of one more way this could  be enhanced.  It would be nice if this screen orientation was also tied to the pushing of the screen rotation button.  Maybe a quick tap rotates once and a press and hold brings up the utility to change the screen rotation.

  • Moving desktop icons with Yoga screen rotation and Windows 8

I have a Yoga 11s.  I have a bunch of desktop icon shortcuts and folders on my desktop as I rarely use the Windows 8 "tiles."  Unfortunately, when using the Yoga as a tablet, whenever the screen rotates, all my desktop shortcuts and folders move around.  Is there any way to get them to stay in place in Windows 8?  I realize that when one rotates the tablet around that the icons have to move around to accommodate the screen rotation, but when I rotate the screen back to the horizontal position, they don't return to the position they were in.
    Thanks!

I did get a potential solution over on a Windows 8 forum.  Unfortunately the solution doesn't stop the migration of the icons.  It only restores them to their original position with a few mouse clicks.  I have yet to find a solution that keeps the icons from moving in the first place.
I downloaded a program called Iconoid. When you first run the program, a little windows pops up.  You click on the positions tab, then put the dot in the selection that says "use relative positions for all resolutions."  You then hit the "save icon positions (relative)" button and now the program remembers where all of your icons are.
When you rotate the screen and all your icons get messed up, you open Iconoid (in systray for me), go to that same "positions" tab, then hit the "restore icon positions now."  That moves all the icons back to where they were.  You just have to make sure that if you change your icons on your desktop a lot, that you hit that "save icon positions (relative) button once in a while so the program gets updated icon positions.

  • Screen rotation not available (with rotation of tablet Hp Henvy x2)

Hello, When I turn my screen 90 °, the monitor will not switch. it remains always in landscape mode instead of going in portrait. In Settings> System> Display the "lock the screen rotation" is disabled. Thanks

Well, after searching every where, somewhere (not sure where now) I saw the suggestion to turn off bluetooth and NFC. I turned off both and it *seems* like the issue may be corrected. But what if I want touse a BT device, I guess I am stuck?
As to your questions, I my have changed to a larger mouse cursor, either that or the default cursor.
I think I may have had "mouse trails" clicked, not sure if that it the same as a mouse shadow?  Neither ofthese options seem to make a difference.
I had a standard Windows provided background for use, no personal photos.
Hopefully this partial fix (turning off the other settings) helps someone else. It seems to have fixed the problem for me, at least in the last 3-4 days since switching I have not noted a return of the problem.

I wish I were writing with a fix.  I, too, have a new X2 -- I like it very much.  I have not seen what you describe.
Instead, I have more questions;  I am intrigued.  I wonder if the way in which you have the system set is having an affect on the way it is behaving.
Do you see the problem regardless of which mouse pointer you set?
There are a variety of choices -- I use an extra large white arrow most of the time; sometimes I switch to a black cursor just for grins.  You can change the selectors, too.  Right-Click on the Background Screen and click Personalize ...
Are you using the entirely useless, but oh-so-pretty "mouse shadow"?
I am wondering if changing the pointer has had any effect on the disappearing act.
What about the background?  Are you using a personal photo?  Lots of colors?  Does changing the background make any difference?

  • Screen rotation kills mouse on Thinkpad X220 tablet

Screen rotation with xrandr causes the screen to black.
Switching to the tty and back using Alt-Fx, gets the rendering back, but now the mouse click on the touchpad, stylus don't work anymore. I know xorg-server was updated recently, but I'm not entirely sure if this is related.
I got rid of my old xorg.conf.d files, and the problem persists. It's also does not seem to be related to xsetwacom.
I'd be very happy if someone knows of a way to fix this.
    (Sorry for the half-baked description.)

You're triggering Chiral Scrolling. You can disable it in the UltraNav control panel.

  • HP Spectre x360 Battery Life/Screen Rotation/

I bought the HP Spectre x360 (Intel Core i5, 256 GB) and the battery life is just horrible. I use it for about 30 minutes and already 10% is gone. I read reviews on this and saw it would give 12.5 hours. I expected it to be about 9-10 hours but im only getting half of that. Also, after I upgraded to Windows 10, my screeens don't rotate when I'm in tablet mode. Help?

Ahmed and others, without doing too much digging, it appears that screen rotation in Windows 10, by default, can be enabled only in tablet mode. To get to tablet mode, open up the action centre, and the top left icon/button at the bottom of the screen is "Tablet mode". If it is a dark grey, then it is disabled. If you press it, it becomes a lighter grey and is enabled (you will also see a few different features in your taskbar). Once in tablet mode, you should be able to rotate the screen and Windows will correctly rotate the display for you. It does not seem to be as quick as it was in Windows 8.1. If it is not rotating, then try pressing the button labelled "Rotation lock" in the action centre. Hope that helps! On the battery side of things, I am getting decent hours out of my i7 model with the FHD screen. I can spend a day at work (school teacher) and come home with between 40 and 60% available. This would be after a good 5-6 hours of periodic use, sleeping in between, using the HP recommended power settings.

  • Screen rotation doesn't work on Dell Venue 11 Pro

I'm running Windows Technical Preview for Enterprise Build 9879 on a Dell Venue 11 Pro. It has the Intel Core-i5-4300Y processor and Intel HD graphics chipset.
All devices are recognized in Device Manager, but the screen does not rotate if I turn the tablet.
Is anyone else having issues with screen rotation?

I have Dell venue 11 pro 5130 version with the atom processor. And I think my tech preview just updated to the 9879 Build... I have only had tech preview installed less than a week.
The previous build I had (and I have no idea what the build was) Did rotate the screen just fine, but now I have to manually toggle the orientation.

  • Screen rotation not working in iso 5.0.1 ver

Screen rotation is not working in ios 5.0.1 ver in ipad2 with 3g please help

Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If so, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If there isn't a lock symbol then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

To do this, press the Home button twice, hold the Mail icon at the bottom until you see a - button in it, and press the - button to close it. Finally, open the Mail app again

  • Portege R500 screen rotation on Vista

    Hello,
I've a Portege R500. I've installed WinXP on it as soon as it arrived so didn't have any experience with Vista.
I used iRotate software to rotate my screen desktop on the external display.
Later on, I installed Windows Vista Enterprise but screen rotation utlities, be it irotate or pivotpro stopped working.
I've done latest BIOS update, installed latest Intel GMA drivers but the result didn't change. In the control panel of Vista, in tablet PC settings I only see primary landscape option, however all of my friends with different brand of laptops see 4 options there including portrait ones.
I don't want to go back to XP just for this simple thing, can anybody help?

Just curious. What external monitor are you using, and what resolution is it running at? I can't get my R500 to drive an external monitor at a useable resolution (see separate thread).

  • Why won't my iPhone 4 screen rotate and why do my apps launch upside down?

Hi, I've had my iPhone 4 for maybe a month now and it's been working completely fine until today some problems developed.
    1. My screen won't rotate when using apps, text, etc. even though I have screen rotation unlocked.
    2. When opening some of my apps (example: Cleverbot, Bejeweled) they launch upside down for some reason, but only when I have screen rotation unlocked. If I lock screen rotation they launch upright.
P.S. Screen rotation and the apps were working completely fine up until today all of a sudden they stopped working right and I have no idea what I could have done to cause it.

    To be precise:
Check to see if Screen Lock is ON, then turn it OFF. Press Home Button twice quickly > scroll new bottom row to the right > Tap Screen Lock icon on left side.
NOT the little icon at the top of the screen.
