SimpleTap Update made my cursor go away on my new X220t
I just took deleivery of my new w220t and right i was finished initializing the system I was prompted to update SimpleTap. So being the believer I am I tapped on OK. After the install I was propmpted to re-boot and I did. Upon re-booting my cursor was gone. My solution was to do a System Restore, which did bring it (the cursor) back. So I am OK at this time but I am concerned about future updates or this file that is sitting in my Downloads folder called "Simple Tap Setup64".

The issue might be happened due to some conflict as updating the software does not have issue.
However, if in future you face this issue then you can uninstall TouchPad driver and install the update TouchPad driver.

I can't sign into itunes on my ipad (original) since the software update. Anyone have ideas?No. The problem is that when you changed Apple IDs you did not update your Apple ID to reflect the change, so your phone is still associated with the old ID. How can i update my iTunes account while away from my computer?
I received a new debit card in the mail the other day, making my old one invalid. I am away from my computer and wanted to update my account information so it reflects the new debit card.
Is there any way to do this or do i have to wait until i get home to update it?

You need to do as provided. If no change after restoring as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

Can the specific changes/updates made to a customer be captured with the detail of changes?
One of our 11i Customer placed the below requirement:
We are creating a report that will extract customers that have changed or updated in Oracle. The user requested to include also the specific change made to the customer. Is there a way that we can capture what are the changes/updates made to a customer?
We understand that the last update date and updated by could be tracked. But, is it possible to find what change was done in which field?
Gurus, kindly respond.This will only tell you if the user you're interested in was the most recent person to update that table, but not what they did, and if they were not the most recent, then all trace will be gone.
Have you considered enabling auditing? It's not going to provide details of anything which has already happened, but it keeps fairly detailed records, but at the cost of a large performance hit. -

This is bcoz i guess i tried to update my system, and the only available update was for the iTunes..I said a YES to it..But after this, there have been problems for the iTunes..Everytime i switch on iTunes, it takes atleast 60-90 secs to get stable..Only then am i able to click a song, and listen to it..

Thanx..Undoing an update may be a bit complicated. If you manually downloaded the iTunes 4.9 installer, you can simply delete the copy of iTunes in your Applications folder and re-install it. However, Apple doesn't usually make the previous versions available. For example, now that there is a 5.0.1 update available, the 4.8, 4.9, and 5.0 versions are not available from Apple directly. If you're having trouble with your new version of iTunes, again, I would recommend you visit the iTunes forum and see if anyone else has already encountered and, maybe, fixed the same issue(s) you're having.

I am getting a message that my iphoto library cannot be opened because I mades changes to my photos in a newer version of iphoto and I need to quit and use the newest version of iPhoto. but in update, it says i have no updates. i dont even remember making changes in iphoto.Help. thanks.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

How to see the last updates made during Power Nap?

I am using MacBook Pro with Retina Display with Power Nap turned on. I think it's a great feature, but I wouyld like more control — to be able to see the updates it has made while sleeping.
Is there any way to see the last updates made during Power Nap? Maybe some logs etc.You can see updates installed via Software Update by clicking on the Apple > About this Mac > more info > System Report > scroll down to Software > Installations. That is a comprehensive list - you won't find a separate list of the last hour or whatever (that I know of). There might be a terminal command for that - or not - I don't know of one.
FWIW, I like to know what updates are being installed when, so I do not allow automatic download/installs of anything - I allow automatic checking so I get a notification that an update is available, but then I prefer to choose if/when I will download and install. -
When I touch the trackpad the cursor jumps away from the bubble.
I thought this might be a bug, but I'm not sure anymore. I have Sophos for Mac and it hasn't noted any problems. What happens is that when I initiate a tap on the trackpad the cursor jumps away from the item or bubble I am trying to tap. It is annoying but not bothersome enough to ruminate about. I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem?
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Well Bababooey if you're comparing yourself to a Apple Genius Bar then you should already know my answer, your snarky remark get a snarky reply. Why would I go to a salesperson to fix my computer problem when I can go directly go to the source itself. I used to sell Apple computers over 8 years ago and was apple certified before the Genius bar existed. If I am to go about fixing an issue I can't fix on my own I will go to the source itself meaning Apple's programmers and developers - being UI UX Developer myself I know they should have QA'd all platforms and troubleshooted any arising issues.
This was also the first time in the 20 years I've been using a Mac that I even attempted to go on this forum which i thought would put me in connection with a certified Apple representative. This turned out to be a complete waste of time just being a public forum with no Apple employee involved. I was hoping to find a quick fix but in turn I was only frustrated with stupid responses such as yours that were in no way an answer to my original question.
BTW I fixed the issue on my own and without your help or Apples help. I'm glad if all forums point here regarding this issue because I now have the answer. The answer I was looking for from someone earlier was as simple as this {Download Maverick and reinstall the platform - it will take an hour to do but afterward 10.9.2 was installed and my computer is now able to shutdown and restart without having to do a hard boot.} No more software update bar at top and no problems with my drive which I told both you and Grant - I know my computer better than you and I've probably been using them longer than you.
So again Babowa you were so wrong...... and I am right.
Again anyone having the same problem, I suggest reinstalling Maverick and you'll be suprised 10.9.2 will work fine. -

I recently bought an Epson printer to replace my broken HP printer. I uninstalled all the HP-related software, but I still am getting prodded by Software Update to update software I no longer have! How can I stop the Software Update madness??
There are literally thousands of sites with videos (linked to from yet thousands more) that will prompt you to "upgrade" or update your already updated Flash Player. This is the most common method of delivery for malware like that.
A friend who runs a PC Repair business told me that if you've updated your Flash Player and you see a warning in a web page that you need to download an update to watch a video, it's an attack site.
A simple gesture of holding your mouse over the warning or link, will indicate the address it points to. If it DOESN'T say Adobe anywhere in the beginning of the address (download.adobe.com, or adobe.com/downloads), it's a forgery, and you should leave that page immedaitely. If you download and install whatever they link you to, it may play the content you were looking for, but you've just been infected with something that may lay dormant for months and then suddenly take over your whole system.

Thanks for any advice!!!Anything you have that is powerpc code only will not run on a new machine. OS X 10.8 has no support for powerpc code (universal binary programs should be fine).
Other than that warning, without knowing exactly what programs you have, and what version you are on, it is hard to say whay will or will not migrate alright.

I am on a Mac laptop and never shutdown, just close the lid and put it to sleep. Today when I came back, I saw that only the skin was the same: all my add-on icons have disappeared (for example evernote clipper, session manager, paypal, etc etc - and very importantly Quick Note (where I had a lot of passwords and for example the very specific way to write my credit card address so it will be accepted by a particular site). Firefox has somehow updated itself. I got the window "A new version of Firefox is available. Update now?" And refused it because I know the problem with updating and so never update. I'm really cross and frustrated. Please help me. Thank you.
And next day, although my addons appear in the sidebar, the compatibility checker (recommended here) tells me that ALL my addons are incompatible. Even the Evernote clipper doesn't work.
Also, I have done small tests and any icons I put into the navigation toolbar disappear when I restart Firefox.
I can't decide whether to download Firefox 9 or go back to a year old 3. something version, but will have to decide within the next few hours as I need to get functioning again.
