Simpleviewer / iweb / iframe / safari!

Hello! I have followed all the great sites out there that explain how to embed a simpleviewer gallery into iweb.
However, safari does not seem to be supporting it!? All looks/works fine in IE, and while it loads in safari, that's it. The gallery just loads...
Is this a safari issue? I find it hard to believe, as I have seen so many great sites that do this successfully (viewed with safari).

Is there another way to embed a simpleviewer gallery in iweb, other than iframes??
Thanks so, so much!

bluetg,
I see you turned off nav menu in your page, your iframe is inside your nav_layer, see my posts in this thread:

  • Problems with iweb and safari - 'buttons' not working in safari/firefox...

Hello. Help! I've been using iweb for a while with no probs - but on trying to launch my most recent site I'm finding the navigation buttons (graphic images not text buttons) work fine in iweb on my mac, plus fine on a PC but only partially in safari/firefox browsers... see sarahgreen.me and you will see that none of them work on the home page. Is this some kind of bug? I was wondering if it is anything to do with there being too many objects on the page or something? They are fine on a PC.
    Thanks for any ideas.
    Sarah

In iWeb do Command-Shift-L to see the layout of the page.
The content in the Navigation layer is blocking the content of the Header layer. The body layer is empty.
Move ( +Use Command-drag+ ) EVERYTHING in the Navigation layer and EVERYTHING in the Header layer INTO the Body layer.
    Put content where it belongs.

  • Iweb & mobileme & safari & latest update?

geez...can't remember if the last update had iweb as part of it so i don't know if it's that or the mobileme conversion...
i've noticed any 'stroke' pict. frames used are not working in safari now...and end caps (the tops & bottoms) of pages like 'elegant' are not working....it really looks lousy. so i'm wondering if i should just redo everything or wait for a self correction?
comments? i sure don't want to wait long...need to go check other browsers in the meantime...

The answer to your question is in this thread

don't redo anything yet it will be back. The transition was not as smooth as they had anticipated but all will be restored.

  • Why is a Screenshot a different color when dropped back in to iWeb in Safar

First post ever, new to iWeb. I took screenshot of an image and dropped the screenshot PNG back into my iweb pages. It blends correctly with the background color in IE (on a Vista PC) and Firefox on both Mac and PC but the color has shifted significantly in Safari so it doesn't blend at all. Is this a color profile issue with Safari? and if so how do I change the png to match the background file? Thanks...

Thanks Alancito for the response. I changed my Mac to 2.2 Gamma etc as your link suggested but it did not help. Its not really a color from monitor to monitor or monitor to printer issue.
The issue occurs because of the way Safari handles the snapshot of the section of the iWeb page - it is darker than the background therefore it doesn't blend. IE and Firefox show the blend correctly because they are ignoring the color profiles. Safari is looking for color profiles so the solution seems to be to change the snapshot color profile to match the iWeb background profile. I don't know what that is, how to do it or where to do it. Any suggestions?

  • IWeb on Safari

a conundrum for you: My iWeb site works perfectly on Firefox but on Safari, the photo detail pages freeze up completely. I tried re-uploading the relevant pages via FTP but no dice. I reset Safari, ditto.

which version of safari are you using? In safari 4 it's under the 'safari' menu 'empty cache'. Can't remember where it was in earlier versions! In firefox it's under prefs/network. You should always clear your cache when updating. Browsers remember things so it takes less time to load, but if you update then it might reach for the old info. In fact... I clear my cache a few times a day depending on what sites I am visiting and if I am updating my own sites.
upper vs lower case letters... make sure you type the url exactly as you have named it in iweb. case sensitivity matters. IE: www.yourname.com/page1 vs www.yourname.com/Page1

  • Iweb or Safari problem?

Can someone please look at this and tell me if it is a Safari glitch or is there something I need to fix in iWeb?
It is looking and working well in Firefox on Mac and Windows, and IE 7 in Windows.
But Safari screws up the colors, doesn't let the text menu work, etc.

  • Iweb/iFrame/Wordpress issue.

I have Wordpress embedded on my site and it works great 99%, however when i select 'comment' on wordpress the frame bounces, moves upwards and i see the footer of the Iweb page behind (even though the footer height is set to 0)
it only seems to be when i select Comment on wordpress, which i guess resizes the page or something and iWeb/the iFrame has difficulty dealing with it.
Anyone else had this issue? any ideas?

    Try the following:
    1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
    4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and republish.
Adding a 5% opaque drop shadow to the text will convert the text box to an image file and it will display exactly as you see it in iWeb. However, that will remove that text from being used by search engines and add additional "weight" to the page thus making it load slower. If you have a lot of that type of text I would think twice before converting those text boxes to image files.

  • Help! Odd text box behaviour in IE compared with iWeb 08/Safari.

    Hello All
I have been tasked with building my girlfriend a website so have fired up iWeb and got stuck in. It all looked fine and dandy to me in iWeb but she is complaining that when she views it on her PC using IE one text box is messed up. In iWeb I centered the text both horizontally and vertically within the text box but IE shows the text at the bottom of the text box and hence loses some of the text.
I'm wondering if there is a work around for this to make the site look the same in IE?
    Thanks

    Jonno,
Make sure nothing else is touching the textbox on the iWeb page. You can click on any element on the page to select it, then use <select all> (command A). This should allow you to see all the boundary boxes for all the elements on the page, make sure none of them are touching the problem text box.
Also make sure the textbox isn't touching the edge of the page or the header , or footer or anything. Make sure there is space all around the box.
If you post the address to the page others can more easily help you.
    Sincerely, David

  • Photos change from iweb to safari ? HELP ?

I wasn't having a problem with this before when I worked on my G5. Now, using my MacBook Pro, I put a photo in my template and it looks great - colors are great. I publish and when I go check it out, the photo is usually really RED in color. Looks horrible. On the blog pages it's like this, but yet the thumbnail picture is great - it's only when you go to that particular page.
    What the heck???

First, backup your current iPod touch. (right click on your device in the left pane in iTunes then click backup). Once you get your new iPod, it should allow you to restore from a previous backup, (after you connect it to iTunes.) keeping most (sometimes not all) of your data. Hope it all works! If not, I would go to YouTube and look, I am sure you can find a solution there.

  • How to get excel work sheet into iweb

I searched for the answer to this and found a post that said save it as a web page and insert as a snippet.
Well its not quite that simple. It's a very small budget in excel, about 25 lines 5 columns. I saved as a web page to the desk top and I got one file called budget.htm but when I open it isn't any html that I can insert as a snippet. It is just an excel worksheet.
    It also saved a folder called budget_files and in that are 7 files: one is filelist.xml, then sheet001.htm, sheet002.htm, sheet003.htm, sheet004.htm, stylesheet.css and tabstrip.htm
Now there were other sheets in the excel file that i don't want so maybe its sheet001.htm that is the file however when I click on that to try and open it so I can copy the html and insert it to html snippet in iweb a safari page opens up and says it can find the address. Huh? Please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
    many thanks,
    Susan
    iweb 3.0.2

There are two ways you can do that:
    #1
A - put the budget.htm file on your server where you can link to it.
B - on the web page add an HTML snippet with the folloiwng code:
    <iframe height="XXXpx" allowTransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="width:XXXpx;border:none" src="URL TO BUDGET.HTM FILE"></iframe>
Set the width and height, in pixels, so that the snippet will display the entire table.
    #2
A - open the budget.htm file with a text editor and copy all of the code.
B - add an HTML snippet to the iWeb page and paste the code into the snippet.
An example of both methods are near the bottom of this demo page: Tables.
With method 1, you can edit or change the table without having to use iWeb. Just replace the budget.htm file with the new and improved version on the server. That will automatically be seen in the published site.

  • IE 8 not able to see image reflections created in iweb 08. What can I do?

IE 8 cannot see the reflection of images on webpages created in iweb 08. Firefox sees' them fine. I am using a web style that automatically reflects the inserted image below it on the Welcome' page and 'All about me' page. However after publishing, most PC/IE 8 users only see the reflected image as a solid image repeat directly underneath which then covers up the text below. Is there anything I can do other than unticking the reflection box in the graphic inspector box? This is a pity as it's a really nice feature. Can anyone help?

    Bonjour
Before beginning, you need an image with a reflection effect in iWeb
    1. Publish, visit your website with Safari
Make a selective screenshot of your image and its reflection in Safari (sometimes the colors are not the same in iWeb and Safari - you need the colors showed in the Browser)
and replace your original image by this screenshot in iWeb.
    Publish
Now you have a JPG file published in your website (if you don't add a mask, a rotation or a flip to this image)
    or
    2. copy your image in iWeb
    open Preview
    cmd N
You can see your image with its reflection in Preview.
    show the Preview sidebar
drag and drop the thumbail from the Preview sidebar to iWeb
Now you have a PNG file published in your website
I prefer the first way to do because I will publish a JPG file and not a PNG. PNG makes a big file.
