Simplified Chinese Font 8.x

Hi.
The IFS version running on our Citrix servers require Adobe Reader 8.x. We have Chinese users loading documents with Chinese Fonts. What I'm searching for is Simplified Chinese Font Pack for Adobe Reader 8.x. We have earlier used Adobe Reader 7.x, then upgraded to 9.x. But then we had to downgrade to 8.1. At Adobe Support there is no download for other font packs than Chinese Simplified Fonts for 9.x.
So if anyone have the Chinese Simplified Font Pack for Adobe 8.x I would be were pleased.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Thanks a lot for your help. I'm searching for Adobe Reader 8.x for Windows Fonts pack.
What I tried was to copy the Acrobat 7.0\Resouce\CIDFont and CMap folder to the Reader 8.0\Resource\CIDFont and CMap folder. This works! I'm now able to view PDF documents containing Chinese fonts. I'm not sure if this could lead to other problems. For the moment it could be used as a workaround until I get the Windows Reader 8.x Simplified Chinese Font pack.

  • Simplified Chinese font missing ...

I recently bought a 17" MacBook Pro--bought in China--and have discovered that one of the most important Simplified Chinese fonts, Song.dfont, is missing. The machine came with OS-X 10.4.7 which I have upgraded to 10.4.8, fully updated. To try to find it, I did an "archive and install" on my bootable back-up disk, but Song.dfont is missing from that new 10.4.7 installation. The Hei.dfont and Kai.dfont are there on both versions of the system.
I tried copying the font from my old Rev 1 TiBook, which has it, though it is now running 10.4.8 but when I tried to install it on the MacBook Pro, I got an alert that it was corrupt ... something to do with a conflict with the original SIL Doulos IPA font, I believe.
Can anyone suggest how I can get it. Song is essential, as I exchange files with Chinese Windows users on a regular basis, and they are in Song. The system installs STSong, but that doesn't help, because I also need to produce PDFs and STSong is not licensed for embedding in a PDF.
So please, can anyone help me to find a source for installing this font on my MacBook Pro?
    Mark Hilton

Look through the files on the Main re-install disk that came with your MBP. In the "System" folder you will find "packages". Inside are the various installers. One of those may well have the install package for your Chinese fonts. Maybe this works.
Another way might be to get Pacifist, and if you can find the right package, drag it on to Pacifist's window. This would be another way to install the font.
Note: I am not exactly which package would do the job. Pacifist is very helpful at searching this out for you. Find Pacifist from versiontracker.com.
    Note 2: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25710
This indicates that it is in a package called "Additional Asian Fonts". This wil make it easier for you.

  • How to download traditional and simplified Chinese fonts in PS? [was:Hello, is it possible]

to download traditional and simplified Chinese fonts and install them into Photoshop (if I can find a site that will allow me to download them)? Would I just download them and install them to my Windows font folder and Photoshop would display them under its font tool just like it would Times Roman, Verdana, etc?
    Thank you.
    Steve

Yes, fonts are handled by the system. Depending on what type of fonts you may however still need to change your system language and region settings to actually get access to them...

  • Accessing Simplified Chinese fonts

I've just been asked to design a dual language magazine that uses Simplified Chinese. All the fonts I currently have are Traditional Chinese so when I cut and paste the copy my client sends I get a lot of blanks.
Does Adobe provide any Simplified Chinese fonts? If not, does anyone have any tips on where to download a few free fonts? I'm not ready to spend money on Linotype fonts until I know I've got the job!
    Thanks,
    Clem

If you really need to distinguish trad. and simp. Chinese you should know you cannot rely on the fonts bundled with InDesign.  For example, although Adobe Song includes more simplified forms than Adobe Ming, both offer both simp. and trad. variants of characters in Ming/Song style. When the distinction matters you need  a more reliable way to present one form or the other.

  • Traditional vs. Simplified Chinese Fonts - Captivate 6

Hello, I am creating 3 versions of a class - Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and English.
I understand that some of the Adobe fonts (Heiti, Fangsong, etc.) are more appropriate for one Chiese version or the other. Can someone advise which are for Traditional and which are for Simplified Chinese?
This has been such a long and trying process; I appreciate any and all help.
    Thanks!

    Hi Christine,
I beileve you posted this on FB page, I have responded there.
But would let you know my answer again. I have not experimented much but have made a project once using both these languages/fonts.
    I used :
Kozuka Gothic Pr6N for Traditional Chinese
    Simsun for Simplified Chinese

  • Chinese font characters disappearing in CS6

I need to redesign an InDesign file that is in Chinese and originally created in CS5. When I open the document in CS6 some characters disappear (no pink box). When I substitute the font with another Simplified Chinese font, some of the missing characters appear but then I lose other characters. Is this a CS6 issue? Any solutions?

Chinese fonts can vary dramatically in character count, whether simplified or traditional, but older simplified fonts are particularly small (GB vs. GBK, etc.): the ChineseMac site has a handy list showing character counts for a bunch of fonts.  And sometimes ID doesn't show a pink box, just a blank.
Differences can be really subtle.  Several years ago I worked on a job using Adobe Fangsong, if I recall correctly.  Some stuff disappeared on a colleague's machine, and it turned out he was using a version of the font bundled with an earlier version of InDesign and hadn't installed the revised font when upgrading ID.  (The older one lacked some of the vertical punctuation symbols I'd added to the files.)
    Good luck!

  • Unable to read Simplified Chinese in downloaded excel

    Hi,
We are running an MDMP Simplified Chinese SAP system.
After extracting some data with both English and Simplified Chinese and saving it as excel file, we are not able to view the Simplified Chinese characters when it is opened in MS Excel.  "Garbage" are being displayed in place of Simplified Chinese.  English display is ok.
The PC already has Simplified Chinese fonts installed (Control Panel->Regional & Language Options->Language tab->Install files for East Asian languages), and Windows XP is an English version.
In addition, we are able to key in Simplified Chinese via the keyboard using Hanyu Pinyin.
I am suspecting that the issue is with MS Excel which doesn't know how to convert the Simplified Chinese.
Does anyone know how to overcome this problem?
    Thanks

    Hi,
as far as I know you need to set the system locale (Language for Non-Unicode programs) of Windows in the control panel to Chinese.
In addition in a standard  MDMP system it is mandatory to logon with language Chinese if you want to download Kanji characters.

  • Problem printing simplified Chinese on PM4i printer using multi-byte data

I am new to printing data in Simplified Chinese and have tried for a period of time to get it to work but it is not working. I would appreciate any help.
    This is what I have:
    1. Chinese data stored as multi-byte data in oracle 10g db. It is in one of the attribute fields on the mtl_system_items table. The data field it is stored in is defined as varchar2(240). I have to extract that data and print it out as simplified Chinese characters on 3x4 label stock on PM4i printer which is setup to use IPL as the default language.
    2. Purchased the simplified Chinese font kit ( compact flash card ) and plugged it into the compact flash port on back of the printer. The simplified Chinese font is assigned.
    3. Created simple program to build the label file to send to the printer to print the Chinese glyphs. I expected 3 to print but it only prints 1 Chinese glyph and that is not the correct.

    Hi,
Welcome you post on the forum.
However, this is not the right forum for you. It is only for SAP Business One user. Please search entire forums first to find which one is more proper.
However, this issue may not be related to SAP at all. Search on the web would be better.

  • Could not find Simplified Chinese input method when using FormsCentral

    Hi
When I creating files using FormsCentral, I could not find the input method of Simplified Chinese, therefore, the document I created look strange. The font is not what I wanted but I really could not find Simplified Chinese to edit the document.  Could anyone please show me how should I do it or where I can download the font pack?

We currently do not support Chinese forms.

  • Won't display simplified Chinese

I just checked out an ebook written in simplified Chinese from an online library . The ADE displayed the title and the table of content correctly on the left pane, but the content of the book displayed on the right pane were not - just a bunch of special characters. Do I need to download a language pack to make it work? What do I need to do?  This is the first time I use th Adobe Digital Editions so I really don't know much about it.

I have the same problem. I got the book Niubi: The real Chinese you were never taught in School, by Eveline Chao. The Chinese caracteres doesn't appear, the Latin letters with diacrits also not. I noted that Adobe Digital Editions, doesn't have a proper place to fonts, in this case Unicode, would be apreciated. How can I solve the problem? Without this, there isn't any sense to have a software and a book which you can't read properly.
At Adobe PDF, when you open a book like this one, immediately the PDF upload a plugin for that specific language.  I also would like an aswer about this problem with Digital Editions. Thanks.

  • Can't get Acrobat 9.3.2 to read Chinese characters or install Chinese fonts

(Please read what I've done already before suggesting solutions.)
I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9.3.2 on Windows XP Professional with administrator privileges, and I just cannot get it to read PDFs in simplified Chinese. (Apparently the Asian fonts weren't installed when my IT people installed Acrobat.) I've downloaded and installed FontPack90_zh_CN.msi. No use. I have gone into Add/Remove Programs, gone to "modify" in the Adobe Acrobat item, and ensured that the Asian fonts are installed through that. Everything seems to go OK, but I still can’t read Chinese PDFs.
When I try to open a Chinese PDF, I get a message saying, "The Simplified Chinese Language Support Package is required to display this page properly." It then offers to install it, and I click "OK". Then it goes through the installation process. But at the end, I get another message saying, "The missing CMap or font was not successfully installed. This could be due to insufficient privileges. Please check with your system administrator to ensure that you have sufficient privileges." Recall that I already have administrator privileges.
    Suggestions?

"When I try to open a Chinese PDF, I get a message saying, "The Simplified Chinese Language Support Package is required to display this page properly." It then offers to install it, and I click "OK". Then it goes through the installation process."
I have the same problem, but I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.  I have Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.2 installed.  After installation, it reboots my computer, but the same error comes up.  After doing this twice, I tried using Control Panel/Programs and Features to Modify the installation and add Simplified Chinese Language Support.  That process also completed succssfully (i.e. no error messages) but even after rebooting again, and re-entering control panel, it showed that the support had not been installed.  When opening the same document the same message was displayed.
It is clear that Acrobat 9.3.2 has an issue across a number of Windows platforms.  Will soneone (anyone?) from Adobe acknowledge this issue?

  • Newbie: Simplified Chinese characters are displayed as square boxes

    Hi,
I am using Windows XP Simplified Chinese Version SP3, Sun JDK5.0 Update 20. I want to run Apache Ofbiz POS; however, the Chinese characters (zh) in PosUiLabels.xml are all displayed as square boxes.
I have tested run Ofbiz in Mac OS X and the Simplified Chinese are displayed normally, and other languages can also be displayed in Windows XP.
    What should I do?
    Regards,
    Terence

When you say "displayed" I assume you mean displayed in some GUI component. In which case you should assign a font to that component which can render those characters properly.

  • Simplified Chinese displayed as boxes with numbers

Firefox used to be able to display Simplified and Traditional Chinese character pages perfectly when it's set at "Auto detect- Chinese". However, ever since I updated to 4.0b7, Simplified Chinese characters have all started to be displayed as boxes with little numbers in them.
Despite trying different encodings, such as GBK and GB18030, nothing is able to properly display Chinese simplified characters. I have IE as well, and it is able to display both S and T Chinese pages without a problem like Firefox before 4.0b7. I'm using English version of FF with 64bit Windows 7.

The boxes with little numbers mean that Firefox is now unable to find a font which supports the characters in question. (It's nothing to do with the character set detection.) This could either be because the fonts have been removed from your computer (unlikely, if IE can find them), or perhaps because the website has changed to ask for fonts you don't actually have, or perhaps it's serving different pages to different versions of Firefox. Were you on 4.0b6 before, or 3.6.x?
