Simplified explanation on WAS UI Tools

Hello all, I am looking for some explanation/documentation on the differences between: SAP BSP, SAP Dynpro and SAP iViews. I am trying to create a 'picture' on the differences between these various UI tools and - if applicable - how they are tied together. Can anyone provide me some clarification? Much appreciated, Tiest

Hi Tiest,
Phew quite an interesting question for which pages of info can be written ... a simplistic difference between those technologies could be (as far as I am concerned):
BSP is a server side technologie to build web applications by combining static HTML and/or extension libraries with ABAP/4 code.
Web dynpro and IViews are both GUI-driven software development tools to build web applications that use a server side technology (like BSP, JSP, ...) to build a web application.
If I would need to draw a picture then I would put BSP below (part of server side technologies), Web dynpro in the middle (it does use parts of server side technology but also introduces its own (javascript client)) and Iviews on top as this one is clearly a GUI representative using any server side technology ...
Hope this helps,
Steven

  • How to print photo with Count Tool markers visible? [was: count tool question]

I am doing a lab report that requires me to count a large number of objects in a photo using the count tool, i need to print out that photo with the count markers visible to show the instructor, however i cant seem to be able to do that. is it possble. Thanks

I don't have a good answer for you, If you under a deadline to finish the project, you can always view the image at 100% and do a series of screen captures, then piece the image back together. Not the idea solution, but it should work.

  • Shape Tool

Photoshop Elements 3. I've been working in layouts. I'm very new. First off, what is the arrow shape tool used for??? I was creating a layout. A layer had a rectangle shape (it's a mat for a photo, filled with a salmon color)--I clicked on the rectangle shape tool. It brought up window in upper right hand corner. It showed the color of the background, Styles and the Word "Simplify". It was grayed out. Can I apply from this area? I couldn't figure that out? I ended up going to the Layers, Styles, and Effects Pallette and choosing from that area. Is there a way to keep the mat the same color but apply a style? For instance, if I wanted to keep the color salmon and I chose the style cactus. When I tried cactus it changed to the green or colors within the style pallette.

Terri G,<br /><br />No you don't necessarily have to use a clipping mask.  It depends on what you are doing.<br /><br />Here's one way:<br /><br />Open image.<br /><br />Create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer over your image.  (Do this from the layers palette <b>not</b> the from the menu bar).  To make your image black and white, move the Saturation slider to -100 and click okay.<br /><br />Change the Hue/Saturation layer's blend mode to Color blend mode.<br /><br />To add back color, make sure the adjustment layer is active...highlighted in the layers palette.  Use black paint on this layer to reveal the original color of the flower...or whatever.  You can use a paintbrush or any selection tool to select then fill your selection with black.  If you reveal too much of the original image, use white paint to cover it back up.  Hard edge brushes produce a sharp edge whereas soft brushes produce a feather.  Personally, I like to use a hard brush then apply Gaussian blur to the mask to feather the selection.<br /><br />FWIW, the reason I told you not to use Hue/Saturation from the menu is that you don't get an adjustment layer with mask via this route.<br /><br />Masking is a bit like using a stencil.<br /><br />As for the clipping mask, it's a bit like throwing a table cloth over a table.  It only covers were the table exists.<br /><br />Try this:<br /><br />Make a new document.<br /><br />Drag a custom shape...any shape will do.<br /><br />Create a pattern adjustment layer over your shape...any pattern will do.<br /><br />With the pattern layer highlighted, press Control G (or Layer<Group with Previous if you prefer the menu bar).<br /><br />You should see the pattern only where your shape is.<br /><br />Now, add a blank layer at the top of the stack and paint a streak on it.<br /><br />With the layer with paint stroke highlighted press Control G.<br /><br />You should now see your paint stroke confined to where your original shape exists. <br /><br />Now, go back to your shape layer.  Add a paint stroke to it.  (Okay, the simplify request).  You'll see that as you changed the shape the other layers<i> within the clipping group</i> followed suit.  Now, erase some of the shape layer.  Again, note that the other layers <i>within the clipping group</i> follow suit.<br /><br />Terri

  • Can't get "Type Mask Tool" to work

I'm a newbie to the program and have been able to understand how to use all the tools so far EXCEPT the Type Mask Tool. The Product Help in the Adobe Help Center is very brief and vague. I searched all the online avenues and didn't see my problem addressed.
With my photo as the background layer, I created a new layer and did a New Fill Layer / Gradient. I then used the Type Mask Tool to create some text I wanted to cut out of the gradient layer to paste onto a new layer. I can type the outlined text on the gradient layer but that's it. I can't get it to separate the text from the rest of the layer. If I switch to the photo (background) layer, the outline text is there too and it will cut out the text from the photo/background. But I don't want it affecting the photo/ background layer.
Does the type mask tool only work on the background layer? I tried gradient, solid color, and pattern filled layers and result was the same: I could type the type mask text but it had no effect on those layers, only on the background layer. The Product Help (as vague as it is) doesn't say it only works on the background layer. I'm obviously using the tool wrong, but can't figure out how to use correctly following the limited Product Help explanation for the tool. Can someone give a more thorough explanation of what the tool can and can not do and how to use it? Thanks!

    Scott,
You can use the Type Mask on an adjustment/fill layer's layer mask... you just need to fill the selection or the area outside the selection with the appropriate gray-shade to give the degree of transparency/opacity you want.
For a simple example, if you have a background layer, and a gradient fill layer over it, and have selected the gradient fill's layer mask - when you use the type mask, once you have the marching-ants marquee, fill the selection with black to allow the background to show through the gradient in the shape of the text mask. Or, invert the selection and then fill with black to hide all of the gradient fill except the text shape.
While this may seem more complicated at first, a bit of practice will demonstrate that the added flexibility is well worth the time it takes to understand the concept.

When I first downloaded Firefox there was a tool bar at top of screen with print, yahoo and other items. Now it is gone. My question is this--how can I get it back?

Hit the '''Alt''' key and release to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark. <br />
The F10 can also be used on most PC's to temporarily reveal the Menu bar.

    Hi Carsten,
WAS config tool is located under
    e.g. usr\sap\J2E\JC00\j2ee\configtool
    start configtool.bat
there will be opened a configuration tool GUI
Click on the instance_ID.... leaf of the tree in the left pane and then on the server_ID.... leaf.
Java settings will appear in the right pane after this steps.

  • Eim mapping reports changed from tools to webclient?

can anyone tell me how to generate eim mapping report which was on tools for siebel 7.7?
i heard it is now generated through client and when trying to generate it is giving error "No file has been attached to a record please attach a file SBL-SVC-00155".
do we need any thing else installed. i thought it was BI publisher. but when you click on report option on the menu list "My BI Publisher Reports" is already there ??
    Please help
    Thanks
    Amit Kumar

As far as I know in 7.7 eim mapping reports are generated just in tools.
You have to go to EIM Table, select (query) for the table you want, click on the right at the table and then on the Reports option (menu) select the EIM mapping.
BTW you should have SADMIN responsibility to see the option for EIM report.
I understand that BI Publisher reports were introduced in 8.1 for the client. Even for 8.0 client reports are done with Actuate.

    HI ,
    Was config tool working earlier?
Please check if direcories sapmnt & saploc exist are you are able to access them.Check permission on it.
May be your windows server got patched and some security policy got changed.Worth a revisiting and checking.
Other thing you can try is take a backup of bootstrap.properties file and modify the location of library from
server\sapmnt\J2EE\sys\global\security\lib\tools to \usr\sap\J2EE\sys\global\security\lib in the bootstrap file.

  • Select tool

    Hello,
In older versions of Adobe there was a tool that allowed me to be able to drag across a body of text, select it, copy it to the clipboard, then paste it as an image. I see in Version 8 that you can still copy and paste text, but only as text, and not an image like I used.
For instance, if I want to copy a table with numbers in it, I can't copy an image of it, just the text.
Is this feature still possible? And if not, why was it discontinued?
    Thank you.

Can you post a screenshot of that?  Also please provide some system info.

  • FEATURE REQUEST: Lasso Tool to help organize code into separate VI's

Sometimes VI's can end up growing out of hand, and it is not so easy to re-organize sections of a VI into a separate VI.
It would be fantastic if there was a tool we could use to select a portion of our code inside of a VI (see Lasso tool in Photoshop or Free From Select in MSPaint), and have LabVIEW automatically move that code into a new VI with automatic assignment of inputs and outputs. All that code can then be replaced by a single VI.
This would make code organization so much faster and easier.
    What do you think?

For the most part, it's already in LabVIEW.  If you select code in your VI and go to Edit->Create SubVI, LabVIEW will take the slected code and create a subVI and automatically replace the selected code with the subVI.
The only thing it doesn't have is the lasso selection.  You have rectangular selection and can keep addeding to the selecting using the SHIFT key.
You should post ideas to the Idea Exchange, too BTW.

  • Simplify geometry

I'm trying to simplify a layer with line (spaghetti) geometries that are geodetic (SRID 8307).
    1. Does the SDO_SAM.SIMPLIFY_LAYER work with Geodetic data?
When I try to use sdo_sam.simplify_layer function, the number of vertices does not change, regardless of the "pct_area_change_limit" I use (the only parameter where I can change the value). I even tried 100 (which I take to mean 100%).
    execute sdo_sam.simplify_layer('TRACK_TEST','SHAPE','SMPL_SHAPE', '10', '100');
Maybe this is only applicable for polygon data?
    2. Should I use SDO_UTIL.SIMPLIFY, instead, for geodetic data?
I was able to create a simplified layer using SDO_UTIL.SIMPLIFY, but I had understood that the SDO_SAM.SIMPLIFY_LAYER was simply a wrapper around SDO_UTIL.SIMPLIFY. I incrementally tried increasingly larger values for the parameters in SDO_UTIL.SIMPLIFY, and it ended up that I had to change the threshold parameter to 10000, and the tolerance parameter to 9999 before I saw a significant difference in the number of vertices.
    CREATE TABLE TRACK_TEST_2
    AS SELECT ID,
    sdo_util.simplify(
    MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(
    A.SHAPE.SDO_GTYPE,A.SHAPE.SDO_SRID,A.SHAPE.SDO_POINT,A.SHAPE.SDO_ELEM_INFO,A.SHAPE.SDO_ORDINATES),
    10000,9999) SMPL_SHAPE
    FROM TRACK_TEST A;
    3. Why are the parameters controlling the functions different for SDO_SAM.SIMPLIFY_LAYER (commit interval, pct_area_change_limit)
    SDO_SAM.SIMPLIFY_GEOMETRY (tolerance,pct_area_change_limit)
    and SDO_UTIL.SIMPLIFY (threshold, tolerance)?
I tried changing the tolerance in my layer's metadata, but that didn't seem to affect sdo_sam.simplify_layer.
    4. Perhaps my data are not suited for simplifying, but I was hoping to achieve data that displayed more quickly in an on-line map viewer. Are the SIMPLIFY functions best suited to geometries with very closely spaced vertices?
    Any insight would be appreciated!

    Hi Nancy,
first of all: it works... :)
ok, you have between point 1 and point 2 a difference in Longitude with 0.0001 (-4.4782 -4.4783). This is roughly approached 11m (40.000.000 m/360°*0.0001). If you use a threshold oh 10m and then a threshold of 20m you will see the difference of the result (or 100m, 10000m, 100000m)...
The number of points will be reduced by the algorithm, if there are possible distances to reduce!

-- Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
-- Threshold value to be used for the geometry simplification.
-- Should be a positive number. (Zero causes the input geometry to be returned.)
    -- If the input geometry is geodetic, the value is the number of meters;
-- if the input geometry is non-geodetic, the value is the number of units associated with the data.
-- Tolerance reflects the distance that two points can be apart and still be considered the same
-- MUST NOT! be greater than threshold, or null (then internally = 0.005)
--> You have defined a tolerance in metadata with 0.05; so why don't use here?

  • Purchasing Tool - like MF50 planning transaction?

    Hello,
We have a requirement / need for a purchasing tool which basically works similar to the planning transcation code MF50
    1. Shows all the total quantity and release amounts based on searching by vendor, or MRP controller etc
    2. Allows the users to change the quantities which would then automatically update the releases of that material/vendor combination
Is anyone aware of a SAP tool which allows for this type of functionality? I know there isnt anything standard in the ERP side, but wasnt sure if SAP had a different tool which others are using for this type of work.
    Thanks for any comments...

    Hi AKPT.
Thanks for info but I understand how it can be updated manually... What I am asking is if there was any tool which allows you to see all the releases for multiple materials and allows you to change the quantity and then update the release etc... Like how t-code MF50 works with planning.  I'm assuming its not in the standard ERP. but maybe in a SCM add-on, SNC etc....
I think this goes against the SAP principle of set your exception messages, run MRP and review red traffic like materials (MD07) ... But I wanted to make sure.

  • Extend background tool in PS CS4

Before CS4 come out, some promotional video was running on adobe.com , what we can expected from it. there was video about "extend background tool" , with good my attention, because that is very often what I am doing. It was showing how ease you can extend background, with this tool, in case, you object is out of center or too close to edge. Since then I forgot about it, till now somebody asked me, if I am using it , cos I talked about it before.,
Adobe support , when I asked , give me answer, that first I have a registered my product, a then they ca answer. They close  case, before I could give them my register info. Anybody remember that video?  Anybody know where is a tool?

That is how I doing it.  But that was
a tool ,in  that  demonstration , that showed a landscape and extended background with one click. this is not a tool, this is a technike,...
    thanks anyway, Rudy
