Sims 3 freezing

I have played Sims 3 on my MacBook Pro for the longest time.  But since I upgraded to Lion it has been freezing within 3 minutes of starting a game.  Has this happened to anyone else?  And does anyone know whats wrong/how to fix it?

I'm in the same boat as you.  If your MBP runs an NVIDIA GeForce 9400 (all types) or an NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics card, you will be unable to play the game.  For some reason the combination of the graphics card, Lion and TS3 isn't compatible.  I and many others have spent a long time with EA Customer Support, so they are aware of the issue.  Whether or not they'll make a patch, who knows?  I haven't been able to get an ETA out of them.  So we basically have to wait patiently for EA or Apple or NVIDIA to update and patch something to it works.  But, whatever you do, DO NOT follow the directions EA support with give you. They're not really knowledgeable about Macs (one guy actually told me to buy a PC so he could help me...) any further questions here's the link to the 20 page thread we have on the EA website.

There's quite a bit of us, so it's in their best interests to fix the issue.

  • Lumia 535 Dual SIM lcd suddently freeze/blank when...

I just bought a Lumia 535 LCD Dual SIM. I charge the battery 2 times. The first charge run smoothly but when the battery charge for second time suddenly the LCD not working (freeze/blank).
I 've tried the instructions on the website that guide me to try soft reset or hard reset by pressing the volume button and power button in certain order but there is no effect at all.
Has anyone encounter the same problem or indeed because there are factory defects?
Any suggestion to resolve the issue?
    Thank you in advance.

Hi, @ongky74. We'd like to follow-up on your concern. Have you received any update from your vendor? What was their recommendation? Did they replace the phone or directed to you send it to the Care Point?
How about you, @supertimin? Do you still have the phone with you or did you send it for repair? Since you've done all the recommended troubleshooting steps, your next option is to have it checked by our authorized technicians. Before sending the phone for repair, be sure to create a backup file to avoid any data loss: Back up my stuff. You can check your local support on this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en/mobile/support/locations/.
Since most of the users on this thread have reported sending their phones to the Care Points for evaluation & repair, we suggest waiting until the repair process is complete. We encourage everyone to update this thread & post the outcome of your concern.

  • IPad 1 32 GB  with sim- OS5 in reboot cycle - Itunes freezes

My Ipad showed a popup saying it couldn't call anymore and needed reactivating. I restarted it (pressing the two buttons until the red slider showed) and it has been in a vicious cycle for hours now showing the black screen with the white apple - then the startup page with a popup saying "activation demanded". When i slide the slider it asks for a network I show it my wifi and i get a grey screen saying it will take 3 minutes to reactivate. But after a while a black screen slides across and the whole cycle starts again.
If I try to connect to my mac (running Lion and latest edition af itunes) ITunes freezes.
I've tried ejecting my SIM card, but it doesn't change anything...
Can anybody help me with my problem?

I was in a trip to Singapore when i put my device on airplane mode. BTW im using and iPad 3G (first Gen). When I turned off airplane mode I do see a message that my iPad needs to be reactivated.
I turned the iPad off and when I turned it on im on the activation process, also tried to activate it via wifi and still a black screen slides and it restarted, same goes when you try to activate via itunes. restored and everything still same problem.
I do wish anyone can help us enlighten this issue.

  • Sims 2 Patch Install freezes MacBook

I have my Sims 2 installed, and I downloaded the Universal Binary Patch for the game. I double clicked on the install icon, and then my MacBook freezes up, forcing me to force restart. I uninstall Sims 2, and the .plist file for it, reinstall the game, then try the patch install again. It freezes my MacBook up again. Anybody else have this problem? I can't seem to find a way to fix this. Thanks in advance.

    Greetings.
I recently read that you ran SIMS 2 on 2GB of RAM. I have recently purchased the SIMS 2 and love the game; however, there is an issue with lag. I run the program on my Macbook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz processor on my Intel GMA 950 video card with 64 MB of VRAM and 1G of RAM. I have set the graphic settings to the lowest possible settings. Would it be a good idea to upgrade my RAM from 1G to 2G for better performance? Or does the lag result from the video card? I also intend to purchase SIMS 2: Open for Business. Would my notebook be able to handle this expansion pack with the present specifications? Any possible suggestions would be extremely appreciated. Thank you for your time and effort. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you once again.

  • Sims 3 Pets Freezing

I just got Sims 3 Pets the other night, and my game keeps freezing with in a few moments of playing. At first the game would last for five to seven minutes. letting me get my sim a job and adopt a horse. but moments after the house gets to the home it froze. after two tries I felt like just diving into a already started home, thinking it may let me do this. But my game freezes just as it loads the home! So freezing takes place from seven minutes into game play into two minutes.
I had posted about the problem on the Sims 3 Site and they said it had to be a Mac problem and sent me here. :I To add it looks like I am not the only person with this problem on the game and its mostly relating to when people use the horses on the game.
    Help me out?

I have Lion... I was going to buy the pets expansion but I have heard sooooo many complaints! I really want the game but there is no way I am switching to Windows... I love my Mac.. And I know it isn't Apple's fault! It's EA. They need to come up with a patch before I even THINK about purchasing the expansion. It's like "ohhh hey look at all these cool new features ...but Mac users...you can't have them.. Just a taste.." I bet you guys loaded up the game, got excited and then went for that horse...the NEWEST edition to pets and had a mini heart attack when the game froze... Someone needs to fix this... THAT, or a bunch of us need to send a ton of complaints to EA so they will fix this for us! WE DESERVE A GLITCH FREE EXPANSION FOR MAC USERS...and I just thought of this...haha for everyone who tried the pets expansion; You were like "YAY!!! " AND THE HORSE WAS LIKE "Nay... -_-" Which is dissapointing... When this gets resolved, let me know...I'll spend some cash and upgrade to pets.. >_> Rant...complete...

  • The Sims super collection freezes.

    Hello community,
I have recently downloaded "The Sims 2: Super Collection". For a while it worked seemlessl. But lately, every time I want to load my newly created family, it starts loading and in that process freezes.
I Have already tried to delet and reinstall the app, which didn't make it better. Though I noticed that this problem can be temporarily resolved by letting the family move out and move back in. But after a few times loading it keeps freezing again with that particular family. I created a new family, with whom the same thing happens after a while playing the sims stop moving. I can move stuff but that's it. When I log out of that house and log back in it freezes in the proases of loading.
    plz anyone with a solution?

NOTE: Have already created a support ticket concerning the issue.
Then you have done what you need to do. It's in the hands of iTunes Support now. They either will or they won't. The policy is that all sales are final. They usually give one refund per account. If you have already received the one refund, then I doubt that you will get another.

  • Any word on the sims 3 freezing issue on nividia 320m graphics card being fixed anytime soon?

everytime i try to play the sims 3 on my 2011 13" macbook running os x lion it freezes afer several minutes. after doing research I found out it was because of an incompatible graphics card. any word on this being fixed anytime soon? or any way to get around this?

try updating linon to 10.7.2 plus there is a updated from electronic arts if you haven't done so already.  I have a macbook with a nvidia 9400 which had the same problem.  As soon as I downloaded the update from EA it solved the problem.  The update from EA was done back on September 1st 2011.

  • Iphone 3GS problems with reception, freezes, bugs, SIM Card

I have an all legit iPhone 3GS 32GB I bought last October in the Netherlands together with my subscription to T-Mobile. Everything went perfect until about 3 weeks ago when my iPhone would loose network connection, stay in "Searching..." limbo forever and end-up with "No Service". I tried everything from resetting my iPhone, my settings, to taking in and out my SIM card, to updating it with iTunes etc… It works for a while if I leave it on “Edge” without activation its 3G. But then, out of nowhere, it will ask me to unlock my SIM card, will freeze and stutter while I’m doing so. I would wait for some time before my iPhone will resume normal service (albeit still on “Edge”), by itself, and repeat this nightmare all over again the next day. I can also find it running iPod all by itself even though the iPhone is on sleep. This iPod "demonic possession" is generally a precursor of troubles to come.
Is my love affair with the iPhone coming to a very sad end? Or can somebody save our relationship? Please help!

The insurance company is coming today to pick up my iPhone. They will give me a non-iPhone "smart phone" as replacement for the 6 weeks it will take for the "repair". This is what I'm reduced to. If the iPhone comes back defective, I'm planning to just smash it with my bear hands and buy a Nokia or BB or sthg.
I hate that repair stuff. It's should work fine though. Make sure they really fix it.

  • Updated to Lion and now The Sims 3 freezes. Any ideas?

Recently upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard. The sims 3 was running fine on Snow Leapord but not seems to crash and not work at all on Lion. Any ideas why?

If the Sims 3 had been running under the Developer releases for NVidia 9400 and at the last minute Apple introduced something that broke previously checked code then shame on Apple. It's not inconcievable,
they blew a few other things with Lion, such as not having a convenient "run this App without any of the
trackpad enhancements" switch or providing a clear disclosure that PPC apps would stop working.
But, in this specific case I think you have to blame EA. At the absolute minimum they owed customer who they sold the Sims 3 to a warning that "Sims3 will not run under Mac OS X Lion with an NVidia 9400 graphics card."
And if anyone wants to initiate it, I'll join a class action here. EA is *still selling* the Sims 3 as being Mac OS X compatible. This is simply, and undeniably fraud.
Now if Apple were doing as good a job as they did a decade ago there would have been a simple switch to click to say "Run this application as though under 10.6". But they did give EA more than enough opprotunity to fix their application or at least warn users to delay an upgrade. This is also specific to something the Sims 3 does.
I'm running Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II fine, both under Transgaming's cider.

  • My charger switched off my iPhone and now my phone will not switch on unless connected to the charger. But, I cannot access wifi or my sim and the date and time resets. It does not connect to iTunes and freezes after five minutes

It will not recognise sound and if I take it off the charger, it immediately switches off. I've installed iOS8 previously but nothing is working. Please help!!

There's only one thing you can do: make an appointment with Apple genius at the Apple retail store for a out of warranty replacement.

  • Lumia 1020 Freezes, Battery Heating Up, OS Crashes...

Hi there everyone, this is my first post here, I hope I can get some help from you guys regarding my problem with my lovely Lumia 1020.
10 days ago, I received my Lumia 1020 ( it was a gift from a friend from Norway), I live in Iraq. So warranty isn't provided here cause I went to Nokia Care in my country, they checked the IMEI and they told me that this phone wasn't imported by them, so no warranty is provided for it.
Once I powered up my phone, completed settings,  it checked for an update and asked me to download it. And sure I did download it at once!. Kept updating until it reached the latest Lumia Cyan Update. Checked and saw I have a WP 8.1 phone.
Took some photos, here and there, everything was going good. Plugged in the charger to charge my phone. Then an hour later I went to check the charge and I was surprised to see my lovely Lumia 1020 heating up like crazy!!! .. I'm talking about severe heating, not a normal one due to charging.
Plugged out the phone from the charger ( original Nokia charger provided with the original box ), and I tried to unlock it, but no way! it doesn't respond to anything at all, Glance screen was stuck at the time of an hour ago. Quickly opened my laptop and googled the issue and did a soft reset at once. Then put the mobile in front of the air conditioner until it cooled down. Time/Date was reset ( very annoying ) but everything was normal ever since until at some random time, the phone freezes. Sometimes it doesn't heat up, I wait for 5 minutes or so and the phone reboots by itself. But there are times that the phone is stuck for hours ( no heat though ) so I have to soft reset it manually. And there are times when the phone freezes and heats up like crazy and I soft reset it on purpose being afraid that something might happen to the phone.
Googled everywhere, tried everything: Replaced charger, Replaced SIM card, Tried Airplane mode, Factory Reset, Nokia Software Recovery, Disabling Background apps, Disabling/Enabling Location w/wo NFC, Deleting FB & Skype, Disabling Glance & Double Tap to wake, Downgrading to WP 8 ( both Amber & Cyan via Nokia Care Suit ), ... etc everything software related has been tried. And the phone still freezes randomly. Which leads me to say that it's definitely a hardware defect that is causing these issues as my friend has the exact phone, everything enabled, and not a single freeze.
I'm desperate here, if anyone of you could give me an advice, I would be thankful.
Thanks and sorry for the long post!

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with it.
As you mentioned here, you've done everything that can be done to your phone software wise, and it still plays up.
And as you further mentioned, it's related to hardware failure.
As your device is not covered by warranty in Iraq, you will either have to pay for the repairs down there or send it back to your friend in Norway who can then send it in for warranty repair/replacement.

  • HT1688 I updated my IPhone 5 to IOS 7 and after that now it freezes when I try to type anything.

I got a new IPhone 5 at the end of July and it worked just fine, but when I updated to IOS 7 now it freezes anytime I type something.  I can push the letters on the screen and then about 1 minute later they will display on the screen.  I even updated to IOS 7.0.2 hoping this would fix this problem, but it did not.
I doesn't matter if it is a text or in an app on the phone I can't type with the keyboard with out a long dely in the time I type the letters and the time they appear on the screen and then if is misspell or misstype something then I have to wait again to delete it and retype it.
What can I do to fix this problem I have rebooted the phone several times and it continues and I have even HARD booted the phone by holding Home button and top button to lock or power off until it shuts off and then turned it back on and it still does the same thing.
I can't really use my phone to type anything it is very frusterating!!!!!!

I have Sprint and all my friends have other carriers. There's are working perfectly fine. I have an iPhone 5 and since I updated it, it gives me an invalid SIM message. I called sprint and they told me to take out the sim and put it back in after a minute. No matter what I do, after about an hour of restarting it it shows "Invalid SIM"

  • Macbook Pro A1226 Keeps Freezing

Hello and best wishes for the new year,
My macbook freezes at different intervals but most of the time while it boots up or shorthly after; once in a while it will freeze after a longer period of time.
When it freezes I have to restart it a bunch of times, when it freezes on each occasion before I can eventually get some work done for a subtential period of time.
I had the same problem about 3 months ago where eventually it was impossible to boot and I send it to an online repair service that replaced the logic board with a new used one.
All along the hard drive could be access in T mode so I think it is good.
It worked for a while but now it is starting to act up again in the same manner.
From my research it seems like it could be the GPU, graphic card or maybe some weird kernel panics.
I am attaching 2 logs from the console between 2 freezes and the Etrecheck.
Should I attempt to repair and if yes how or is this machine done?
    Thank you.

I have done both of those, and even taken the computer in for a repair and the problem still hasn't been resolved. Any ideas? The apple store did a full system erase and reinstalled the software, and I'm still having freezing problems. After playing around on programs more, I have noticed that when I'm only using safari or itunes it's rarer for my computer to freeze (it still happens, just not as often). I have recently noticed that connecting my mac to my tv using a HDMI cord often causes instant freezes, and while I didn't think so before, it does seem that Sims 3 and Logic cause almost constant freezing too. Is it possible that this could be a graphics card issue or something like that? It seems weird to me that a computer with such high specs can still freeze playing a Sims 3 game or having a few safari tabs open while playing a song on itunes. I'm at a loss since I've now sent it in for two repairs and still haven't resolved the issue.

  • IPod Touch 1G "touch-screen freeze" after Wi-Fi connect (since 1.1.4) + log

    Hi everybody,
I have a big problem with the touch-screen since approximately 2 months.
    The problem is:
    1. I turn on my iPod Touch 1G (Firmware 3.0), works
    2. I activate my Wi-Fi (it connects, wi-fi bar is visible), works
Then the real problem starts (mainly while and after using Safari, sometimes even without using it)
After a few seconds the iPod freezes.
The strange thing is, only the touch-screen itself seems to be "deactivated"
If I leave the iPod calm for some minutes I am able to "unlock" it again.
All in all it seems, that the iPod deactivates the touch-screen after being connected to the Internet, because if I turn off the Wi-Fi connection, everything works fine.
This problem appeared since firmware 2.0 (1.1.3 worked fine i think) and now I have 3.0 and it is still the same problem.
Already downgraded, upgraded, jailbreaked, un-jailbreaked it. I tried everything.
Another solution to come to my Home-Screen is to Lock/Unlock a few times, sometimes this works.
I renewed the firmware more than once (10-15 times) and still do not ger rid of this problem. (Also in "recovery" mode)
    Same thing with Youtube:
    1. Starting Youtube
    2. (If I am able to search a video) selecting a video
    3. Video plays, but no touch-pad reaction anymore
I am not able to work with it anymore.
And I am sure it is a software problem, due to the fact the touch-screen reacts(!).
_A "forced restart" (Home + Lock Button hold for a few seconds) does not help, problem is still the same._
Thanks to everyone who has an idea.
I am happy about every kind of information which could help to solve this problem.
    Greetings
    Eimer
P.S. If you need some more information about the iPod e.g. do not hesitate to ask.
Here is my Log (out of the newest "iPhone Utility Program")

Has someone an idea how to get into the system of the iPod, that i am able to see what he is doing?
I already tried to works with XCode, but not able to connect to my device.
Also worked with the iPhone Utility, nevertheless a bit helpful.
Or a hint, how to destroy my actual firmware and to set up a new one, means setting up a completely (brand) new iPod like i bought it at the store?!
Support can not help me any more because my warranty is over ince 2 days.
    Thank you
