Simultaneous capture with usb and gige cameras ?

Hi,
I am unable to capture (continuously) simultaneously from a USB and a GigE camera, is there a limitation in Labview ? Both cameras work if I use them one at a time. I am using Labview 2012. Both cameras are IMAQdx devices and I am using IMAQdx VIs.
Thanks,
Best,
Saumil

I have just converted to low level, just in case. Not tested yet...
USB camera: USB 2.0, 10 frames/sec, 1280x1024 -> about 13 MBytes/sec
GigE camera: 300 frames/sec, 640x480 -> about 90 MBytes/sec
So both cameras data rates are within their respective interface limits. Although when I started to archive raw frames from the USB camera, everything in labview became super slow. The slowness was reduced dramatically once I started storing to compressed AVI files (rates went from 15 Mbytes to approx. 1.5 Mbytes/sec). I have not tested  archival with the GigE camera yet, I am expecting troubles, just dont know how severe.
Thanks for your help,
Saumil

  • 4s Hotspot tethering only works with USB and BT but not with wifi

    Hi,
XP sp3 - iPhone 4s with ios 5.0.1 - on Three one plan
Tethering with wifi works to a friends Samsung phone, wifi on the pc confirmed working with the apple store wifi, tethering with USB and BT works with good connection speeds on my laptop but when i try to tether with wifi it connects to the laptop at 54mbps and all appears well, even claims to have received a small amount of data packets, but no data comes to any browser. The iPhone reports 1 connection to the hotspot and stays connected with a non-pulsing blue bar after the first minute.
In the PC i have tried this http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-the-order-of-network-protocol -bindings
I've deleted my firewall (zone alarm) completely and turned off windows firewall to go naked surfing for a second even though they don't cause a problem with USB tethering, makes no difference
I've deleted the network connection numerous times
    "repaired" connection
    dissabled and enabled the wifi
turned off the wireless with a hardware switch and on again
    disabled bluetooth
    rebooted many times
    reinstalled itunes (latest)
loads more things i can't remember
This is causing me a nightmare. I've been through everything i can find online, been to the Apple store genius bar (genius appeared to have sub zero knowledge / interest as it involved a MS machine), been to a Three shop (legally not allowed to touch my PC apparently) and been to a Sony shop (laptop make, not their fault if my iphone doesn't work). All very frustrating.
Please help if you can! Any suggestion will be tried unless it involves sledge hammers or lakes, and only then for a few more days at most.

Turned off bluetooth on phone, turned off hotspot and on again, phone asked if i wanted to turn on bluetooth or go with USB and wifi only, said usb/wifi only. Still nothing. Rebooted PC and iphone. Turned on hotspot, pc seemlessly connects to network, still no data comes.
One odd thing is zone alarm asks me to "select a security zone for the wireless network at ip address: *******.0" every time and doesn't seem to remember the setting over sessions. When i get the status of the connection the ip address is *****.2 and default gateway is same ********.1 Not sure if that's anything.
Also getting a javascript error about an undefinded component (trustcheckermozilla) since i updated zonealarm but as i said even completely uninstalling zonealarm made no difference. I'll update firefox as well but tried with IE and still no data.

  • Can I use HP Pro 8600 with usb and wireless at the same time

Can I use HP Pro 8600 with usb and wireless at the same time?  Sometimes I cannot get the wireless to work, it seems to be my laptop.  It would be nice if I could use the usb, but it doesn't work.  What should / can I do, if anything?

    Hi,
Same physical printer but when connecting to SAME computer using both USB and wireless it becomes two (logical) printers. Probably your default prnter is the wireless one, you have to select the right printer before print .

  • CMOS camera with USB and labview

    Hi,
I'm looking for an USB camera with a CMOS sensor that I can use with
Labview. Preferable with Labview drivers and low cost.
The size of the image may be VGA or 1.3Mpixels. I need to have full control
with labview and saving RAW images.
Is there anybody who can recommend me such a camera?
    Thanks!

I have a solution,we can call Mirco CMOS sensors DLL and OVT sensor DLL then you can writing register freely, but you need to design the hardware or buy it.

  • Timecode error when capturing with USB in Premiere Elements 7

When trying to capture video from my DV I get an error "\src\Timecode.cpp-955" and PE7 crashes.
I upgraded from PE2 to PE7, and I just checked that it still works in the old version.
I'm using a USB cable, so the Device Control is set to USB Video Class and split scenes are set to content. The camera is a Panasonic NV-GS300 and I'm on Win XP Pro with SP3, Celeron 2.8 Ghz, 2GB RAM.
    Any ideas?
Will a firewire solve my problem?

I would not recommend capturing over USB in Premiere Elements -- even though it supposedly works with USB Video Standard 1. The results are too inconsistent and problems, at least in my experience, are common. It's really a pretty obsolete video capture method.
Try it with FireWire and you'll likely see the problem go away.
But it still might not hurt to make sure everything is updated on your computer -- that you're using XP SP3 and that you have the latest Quicktime and firmware for your graphics card.

  • 20" Cinema display with USB and firewire ports not working

I have a new 20" display and was wondering why my USB and fire wire ports at the back are not working. I have an external drive that is powered hooked up to the fire wire port and a no powered piano keyboard to a usb port.
    Any help please

Verify that the display’s USB and FireWire cables are firmly plugged in to the
computer. Do they show in your profiler?
Try different ports in the computer.
Verify that your computer ports are working with other known problem free device.

  • Read out from OBD-II Freematic Emulator using ELM327 with USB and LabView

Hello. I have an Freematic OBD-II mk2 emulator which simulates diagnostics of a real car. I have connected an ELM327 diagnostic device with USB cable to the emulator and a PC. The connection between emulator, diagnostic device and computer works. Now I need to read out parameters in LabView. How do I do it? I tried to use the NI VISA functions, but didn't manage to read out anything sensible. How can I for example read out Engine RPM? Do you have some example code?
I want to avoid using Automotive Diagnostic Command Set, because it's to expensive for me.

Oh yes, I didn't realize what this hardware does.  Some beginners think that a DB9 is a standard interface for a CAN bus, and when they see the DB9 serial port on their computer they think they can just use that.  I was worried this was what you were attempting.
So yes VISA is the right way to go.  Once you have this device installed and recognized in Windows it should appear as a COM port.  You can open the Windows Device Manager and by plugging and unplugging your device you should see a COM port appear and disappear.
Assuming you do launch LabVIEW and go to the example finder and search for Simple Serial.  This is an example VI that can send serial data to a COM port, wait, then read the response.  It can basically work like hyperterminal.  Assuming there are no already made LabVIEW drivers (I haven't seen any) this will be a good place to start.  Using documentation on your hardware you can start to come up with commands to do things like read and write CAN data, by sending the appropriate commands to the hardware over serial.

Depending on what you want to do it might be a decent amount of work.  Of course if you do get anything good and working feel free to post your progress here so others can benefit.

  • Can not capture with CS6 and blackmagic multibridge pro on HP Z820

    This is the setup:
    Z820 and Windows 7 pro
    Multibridge Pro and driver 9.7.7
    CS6.0.5
In premiere I can not capture via the Multibridge. The app crash when entering capture mode. I can not change setting in my capture device.
On the same PC I CAN capture with Media Composer v7 and BM Media Express.
I've tried several version of the BM driver, no changes.
The BM PCIe card is in slot 1 and the PC bios I have update to v3.50.
    Anyone having the same experience?
    Regards
    Danny

Thanks for the reply. I know YouTube is not the way to check quality but it shows the stutter in playback. The quality wasn't the issue and it is filmed with my phone. The video shows what it needs to show.
Disk setup is a ddp server (check http://www.dynamicdrivepool.com/ for info) connected with 2 network cables for optimal speed.
Video cars is a NVIDIA Quadro K4000.
Premiere Pro CC is up to date with the latest version.
Export settings? I think you mean sequence settings:
For the record: I'm not trying to play a sequence with multiple layers of video of different codecs and loaded with effects. It's just a video chopped to pieces and an adjustment layer with some simple effects. The way Adobe is advertising the performance of Premiere Pro, one would think that couldn't be a problem for any Z820. Or that's what I was thinking. Hope you or anyone can help.

  • Image capturing with ni1409 and Jai CV-A1

I am using NI IMAQ 2.5 version.
I have done the procedures for interfacing Jai A1 camera with IMAQ 1409.
    1. Download and install the camera control utility from the JAI Web site.
    2. Launch the JAI A1 control utility, and click Start>>Programs>>CV-A1 Control Tool>>CV-A1 Control Tool.
    3. Click the Shutter and Sync Signals button.
    4. Set the Pixel Clock Out radio button to On to output the pixel clock.
    Configuration Files
    1. Copy the JAI CV-A1(1409).icd file into the \Data folder. Go to ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/imaq/camera_support/
camera_files/analog/jai/ to download this camera configuration file.
    2. Launch Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).
    3. Expand the Devices and Interfaces branch of the tree view.
    4. Expand the IMAQ PCI/PXI-1409 branch of the tree view.
    5. Right-click Channel 0: RS-170, and select Camera>>JAI>>JAI CV-A1.
    6. Click Save.
When we are using the software for JAI A1, Camera control Tool interface(downloaded from JAI web site), the About window and Camera control window shows red color bar at the bottom and Communication window shows status in red color i.e. offline. I have tried to connect the camera control tool with JAI camera using the Communication window by clicking “auto” button. It is showing “no camera found”.
I have tried with both types of wire viz. BNC and NI. But the results are same.
The picture error.jpg shows the different windows those I have opened.
The window “Acquisition Error” arises when I have tried to grab the frame using NI Measurement & automation software. Rests are for Camera Control Tool software for CV-A1.

  • Portable HDD with USB and FireWire

Alright, I did a bunch of research and found a bunch of conflicting information.  My question to you all is this:  are there any good, portable external hard drives that support both FireWire and USB?  I have an iMac and an MB Pro, but a lot of people I know don't; I would like to use the FireWire and still be able to use the hard drive with others' computers who do not.  I was looking for something that:
did not require an actual electrical plug (wanted the USB/FireWire to be used as the power source)
is at least 1TB (would prefer 1.5TB)
is (preferably but doesn't have to be) rugged
I plan on doing some traveling and whatnot and just throwing it my bag; I'd probably go a while without having a chance to really maintain it, hence my wanting these things.
The main ones I was looking at are the LaCie MiniRugged, LaCie Rugged, Transcend Storejet 25H2P and 25M2, and the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex.  Unfortunately, I've either heard bad reviews or they don't meet all my criteria.  The LaCies, for example, were said by some to be outdated, flimsy, etc. (and the mini doesn't have a FireWire port).  The Transcends don't do FireWire, nor does the Seagate.  In case anyone was wondering, I included the Seagate becaue I have a friend who just got back from a year-long trip bumming around Asia with it and it stood up fine (but, again, no FireWire).
Given all this, I was wondering if anyone could suggest anything.  I realize I may not get exactly what I'm looking for, so I'm not going to be super picky.  Thanks in advance for any help anyone might be able to offer.

If you can tolerate a somewhat larger enclosure, the OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro mini has USB, Firewire 800 and eSata connectors.  It can be USB powered or with an external adapter.  You can get a bare enclosure and install the HDD of your choice or get one with a HDD installed.
I have four of them and I rate them very highly.
    Ciao.

  • Still waiting on Apple to come up with front and back camera for laptop.

The Ipad, Iphone and Ipod have front and back camera.  Why can't the laptops have front and back camera? I have a mac pro and it would be great if I don't always have to turn the laptop for people to see what I'm trying to show them.

You would like to be looking at something while using facetime (for
example) and switch over to a different camera while continuing the
conversation without moving the computer.  That way you could see what
you are showing them without having to look sideways at the display.
So basically he wants a rear view camera.
There is a issue with this because computers are stationary and thus the rear view camera could be used as a covert monitoring device.
At least with a iPod or iPhone when someone holds it a certain way you know they are taking a video or picture, with a desktop/laptop one wouldn't know.
For instance say your a pretty girl in coffee shop using your laptop, so now instead of a bunch of rabid geeks trying to catch your eye you have all their laptop rear view cameras pointed at your direction and streaming it online.
    Creepy.
If one wants a rear view camera, buy a third party one and mount it on the top. It comes with a swivel base and thus can be pointed at any direction. Thus people can see your video recording and it's not covert.
A rear mounted camera requires the entire Mac to be moved, which in the case of a large iMac is impracticable. Laptops being moved increasing their chances of being damaged, even more so if they have hard drives.
Also there are laws about covert video recording/taping in many States and countries, you have to do so with the persons consent so things are not taken out of context.
I'll have to vote no on this, especially since not many people will use it and we will all have to pay for it.

  • Simultaneous Capture with many cameras

I need to capture video from many cameras simultaneously. I need to handle up to 32 cameras. I would like to use the pci1411 boards and capture rgb32 ntsc video (30fps). I need to capture about 10 seconds worth of video, storing each image into an array of imaqimages and be able to replay it after (individually). My question is how many boards can I run at the same time on a pci bus, transferring each frame to an imaqimage array? My guess would be 4 capture cards and about 2gb of system memory per computer (8 computers). I figured 1mb per frame, 30 fps, and four cards = 130mb/sec, and 10 seconds worth = 1.3 gigs. Am I on the right track? What kind of computers should I run this on (p4, zeon)? Can I use more capture cards per computer
? Is there a better way to do this?
    Thank you
    -Dave

    Dave,
If you are acquiring 4 640x480 images simultaneously at the rates you mention, you will be tranferring 140 MB/s. This will exceed the limits of the PCI bus even if there is no other traffic on the bus, which is unlikely.
Is there a way you can reduce the amount of data you need to acquire? Does it have to be color? Does it have to be 30 fps? Does it have to be a full 640x480? If you can reduce any of these, it will make your job a lot easier and more cost effective. Otherwise, you will only be able to put two or three cards in each computer.
I don't think the type or speed of the CPU will be a major factor here, unless you are processing the images at some point. If you are just using the computer as a fancy VCR, you just need to worry ab
out PCI bandwidth and memory to store it. You will probably want a SCXI disk drive if you are going to save all these images to disk. A RAID system might be effective also.
