Since 10.10.2, after sleeping 2hrs, my nMP wakes and crashes

Can anyone figure out why my Mac Pro is waking from sleep in the middle of the night and then crashing?
This seems to happen every night to my 2013 Mac Pro. I believe it started since updating to 10.10.2.  I just did a clean reinstall (format drive and install 10.10.2 from scratch from USB stick) the other day in hopes that would cure this, but it hasn't.
(Note: Under energy saver preferences, the only options checked are "Prevent compute from sleeping automtically..." and "Wake for network access")
Here's some information from the Console.  I put the Mac Pro to sleep at 11:38PM, it appears to have awoken at 1:26AM... Reason: RTC (Alarm)... Why?!

  • X120e 0596 screen wont wake up after sleep mode until unplug it and remove the battery

I recently purchased a Thinkpad X120e (0596) and am genneraly very happy with it however when it goes to sleep the screen does not wake up when the laptop does. when i wake it up i hear the fan spin up but the the screen remans powered off. ive tried waiting several minutes and it still doesnt wake up, ive also tried holding the power button for several (more than 5 ) seconds to force it to power off fully then start it again and the screen still doesnt wake up. the only way i can get it to work again is to make sure to unplug it and remove the battery for several seconds then i can get it to boot with the normaly expected complaints from windows after an abnormal shutdown.
I have the latest updates from lenovo and microsoft installed including the latest firmware. I like the laptop so i would rather report the problem and provide any information neccisary to find a resolution than have to return it. Ive seen this problem with other laptops before and know its probably a  bug in the firmware thats not waking up the GPU is ther any tool i can use to provide the debuging info or any more direct way for me to report the bug I tried calling customer support and they told me they told me my only option was to return it and they could not report or record the issue.

Same issue here, confirmed many times in linux, will likely recur at some point now that I am on windows (8).  The event log from the HAL says "The platform firmware has corrupted memory across the previous system power transition. Please check for updated firmware for your system" even after successful suspends, so who knows what happens when it fails. Since it's video-related, the problem could as well be in AMD's driver (also hinting at this is the fact the system periodically freezes when the screen is simply turned off from being idle).
Also worth noting is the fact suspend seemed to work just fine on my system with the factory BIOS (1.08), with the issue appearing only in newer ones (the oldest one still available for download is already affected, and I am running the latest one). There are also slight differences in the issue between the legacy and UEFI boot modes, but none of them mitigate it.

  • Since upgrading to Mountain Lion LibreOffice keeps asking for Java and crashing.

Java is needed only for Base which I don't use, so I disable Java in LibreOffice preferences, but it keeps asking if I want to enable it. In addition the preferences aren't  being remembered so sometimes LibreOffice crashes when I start to do anything and it has to recover documents. Its all a big nuisance. I have NeoOffice which seems OK, but I'd like to have the option of LibreOffice which I have used for some time. Any thoughts?

Did you install the last Java update 006 _37?

  • After update ATV is very buggy and crashes often

Hulu tends to crash my ATV, usually 2-3 times during the course of a show. This is as bad as Roku.
I also get a very randon screen from time to time asking me for nonsense information. Anyone else getting either crashing from Hulu or the weird message as in the screenshot?
I own two ATV3 and one ATV2 and they all get the same error. Also, I was unable on all of them to even get into Netflix until I deleted all extra profiles via the Netflix site.

The View menu has the option for changing which side the Code View is on for Split. It should show as Design View on Left but that will only show if Split Vertically is also selected, otherwise it will say Design View on Top.

  • Channel 13 missing after sleep

Hello, I am having problem with wifi connection for my MacBook Air 11 inch 2012. at home I am using channel 13 for my wlan since it is the least crowded channel in my apartment block. my MBA region is set to Belgium, so it has the channel 13 support. However, each time I want to use the MBA after sleep, the wifi is disconnected and I cannot find the channel 13 from the supported channel list. so far my solution is to restart the MBA each time the problem occurs. I find this quite annoying after some time. any help will be very appreciated.

Sorry, ignore. Found the problem. Plugged Macbook via cable to router. Seems an update of Mountain Lion did'nt offload correctly. After connecting via cable and finishing off load all returned to normal... Regards

having this prob since the first day i got my mac .
it sim that after sleep the smb connection dropped and only hard reset will solve the prob .
ive been in many forums and this issue sim to be very popular .
im very disspointed that apple dont have any mail service for applecare users .
anyway i hope some experts will read this msg and post up agood answer .
    thx in advance
    moshelog

I was having the same problem but think I have found a solution. So far I have put my Macbook to sleep about 6 times and I can still reconnect to my network servers.
I found the solution here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=518958
    Here it is:
    1. Open network preferences from your WiFi icon in the menu bar. Then click advanced. Delete the network that is giving you problems.
    2. Open Keychain in the utilities folder of your hard drive. Find the passwords that are stored for your particular network and delete them. There may be multiple passwords for your network, so search carefully.
    3. Repair permissions using the disk utility.
    4. Reboot the computer.
    5. Reenter your network data to log into the network.
    Good luck!

  • After a while (possibly after sleep) I can't connect to Icloud anymore

First off, I had some problems when I installed Mavericks. My system password was changed into my apple-id password without prompt, and that messed up the my keychain so whatever I was doing I got a popup asking me to enter the password for "local objects", and whatever I entered was wrong. After deleting that keychain, everything seemed to work.
But now, a while after boot, there seems to be a problem with Icloud. For example, in Iphoto when I click on "Icloud" it times out or just takes a loooong time to load my photostream. And when I click on "Icloud" in system preferences, it says "loading Icloud" but nothing more happens. I'm still on the "main" page for prefs.
And my calender is stuck on "updating...".
After a reboot, it starts working again. I have two theories so far:
1 - After sleep, something doesn't wake up...
2 - My VPN (which I have to use for work) is messing things up. But it worked perfectly with Mountain Lion, and I can connect to everything else on the internet.

Charge ipad via wall outlet for at least 1 hour.
    Then try this,
Make sure IOS is updated to latest version
(How to update your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623)
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings  (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).
If that doesn't work then backup and then restore the device as new first (to isolate cause of the issue). Then from backup if necessary.

  • Password after sleep but not when starting?

I have set the option to require a password immediately after sleep or screen saver begins, and that works fine. Waking from sleep requires a password. However, if I shut down the computer and then start up again, I'm not required to enter a password. Can't seem to locate the settings to require a password in that situation.Any suggestions?

That's under users in system preferences. Unlock if necessary and look under Login Options -> Automatic Login.

  • MacBook Air not wake up after sleep

    Hi,
My MacBook Air(Mid 2012) can't wake up after sleep. I recently updated operation system to Mac OS X Mavericks and now after sleep mode screen goes black and nothing happens after this. Only thing that I could do is hard reboot by pressing power button and boot again. Do anyone have the same issue and suggestions how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance
    Dmitrii

Same thing here. MBA 2011 working perfectly until I updated to Mavericks.
It often doesn't wake up fully. It does draw the password input box but there's no text cursor and no input is possible. The mouse cursor is not visible either. Waiting does nothing (tried ~15 minutes, no change). Closing the lid does not put the laptop back to sleep, it's fully frozen and the only way out is a reboot by holding the power button.

i've spend the past 6 months trying to find out why, and have almost gave up.
Just wondered of anyone had any ideas ?
    Thanks!

I figured out this is because of a flaw in the Macbook. The Bluetooth going in and out. I turned off the bluetooth when ever the Macbook recognizes it again, problem solved for now. Is Mac ever going to fix this hadware issue???

  • Desktop computer crashes after sleep mode since upgrade to Snow Leopard

Since I upgraded my power Mac to Snow Leopard in December, I've had nothing but problems, all of which appear to stem from when it comes out of sleep mode. This computer and all applications were rock solid in Leopard! I also have a mac book running identical programs and that IS rock solid on Snow Leopard. I have a 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon processor with 10 GB ram.
I did a complete re-install of SL and all programs as per the Apple instructions.
Basically, the computer crashes after sleep mode. I've tried all the fixes I've read on the net. Here is the report thread from the last crash. Does it mean anything or throw any light on the problem to anyone?
    Thanks,
    David Wright

The problem has been identified as the RME fireface400 audio driver. I've spent some considerable time experimenting to identify the culprit. It's clear that this is what is causing all my problems since Snow Leopard. Whether it's exclusively the drivers fault or partly also due to a conflict with apple SL, I don't know, but I have crash reports if apple want to see them.
From your first post, it appears you are using Fireface audio driver version 2.64. RME released a new Snow Leopard compatible driver (version 2.65) last December. It is available at RME: Downloads. (There is also a firmware updater for the Fireface 400 there, which you might want to check out.)
It isn't at all unusual for a new OS version to require new drivers for third party hardware. References to this can be found all over the web, in "read me" files & other documentation, etc. -- it doesn't just apply to OS X but to Windows & other OS's as well. (One of the biggest problems with Vista was poor third party driver support.) In fact, the X-Lab "Resolving Kernel Panics" article specifically cautions users to make sure all such drivers are current. See section 6.1 of that article for more details.
I don't know if you missed all this somehow, but if you haven't already downloaded & installed the new RME driver (& possibly the firmware update as well), then do so now. While you are at it, check for other similar updates for any other third party hardware devices you use, using the info in section 6.1 of the X-Lab article as a guide.
Hopefully, this will resolve your issue, which (as already mentioned) is kernel panics, not crashes. If you still have problems, post more about them, being mindful of the difference between application crashes & kernel panics. Because they are fundamentally different, they have different cures, so we will need to know which type they are to offer effective help.

  • Problems with networking after sleep since March 1st EPI firmware update

    Hi,
After the new EPI firmware upgrade of my macbook pro (4 months old) a problem that I had 3 months ago re-appeared again :
when I received my laptop (Lion, fully updated) a few months ago it had problems getting internet access after waking from sleep : it could detect the wifi-network, it was connected and when I tried to ping -for example- google.com in terminal it would answer. This means my network was working and DNS was working too...
Only when opening safari, or software update or any other program that wants to go online, it would give me a 'no internet connection' message. After 3 minutes or so, it would work again (wihtout doing anything). I tried renewing the DHCP lease, moving the order of interfaces, re-adding the networks after deleting but nothing helped.
The problem back then was solved after a firmware upgrade, and it would be online 2 sec after waking from sleep.
After this week's firmware upgrade the problem came back......
Anyone have any suggestions, or anybody know if Apple is working on it again?
    Thanks,
    Koen

For me the problem is solved now.....last night software upgrade popped up with "another" EFI-firmware upgrade, and after this it worked again....too bad I didn't look at version number. But I'm happy I wasn't the only one with this problem....
For the questions above : this was abviously firmware related since it happened directly after the first update. If something has worked and nothing changed in the peripherals the problem is in hte thing that DID change...the firmware. I was surfing after solutions and I did see that there is a problem for some people with the way the OS passes on the DNS (so when pinging, the DNS is picked up directly or something, but in applications such as safari.... it grabs the settings from the OS somewhere). There was a terminal-based solution to reset this setting but by the time I wanted to try it the frimware upgrade popped up....but maybe it can help others...

  • Problems waking up after sleep since 10.8.3 update

A couple of weeks ago, I updated to 10.8.3. Since then, I have been having difficulty waking the machine after sleep. I get the constant beach ball. On a forced restart, I will get the spinning gear followed by the prohibitory sign, like it can't find the OS. I have tried rebooting in safe mode, resetting PRAM/NVRAM, repaired disk and disk permissions with disk utility, checked the status of hardware with (AHT), reinstalled OS X (twice), but the problem persists. I'm at a loss and have no idea what else to do.
I'm seriously regretting upgrading from Snow Leopard at all.
I've been trying to run time machine to back everything up, but my external USB backup disks keeps randomly unmounting, so I can't even get a solid backup now.
    Please help.

No, it has nothing to do with being Friends or not.
There are more and more security issues with java, Oracle comes with updates almost every few weeks. Until lately Apple had it in theuir distribution system, but because of the security issues decided that it was not good business to distribute automatically this leaky system. So with new system updates the Java is removed to make sure the customers reinstall the latest version. You can download from both Oracle and Apple, but don't download from any other source.
Luckily I do not need it anymore and have not installed Java since a few months.

  • Bluetooth lost after sleep (since 10.6.8)

Noticed that since 10.6.8 update, once I wake up Macbook Pro by lid opening, bluetooth become disabled and can't be enabled anymore until I restart whole laptop. Does anyone met similar problem? If this is somecthing general with 10.6.8 update r

I'm having the same problem but I think my case is even worse. I have an iMac (late 2009) and when it returns from sleep I get no mouse and no keyboard (both are bluetooth).
The solution that is working is to switch off one of them (the keyboard, for example) and turn it on again. When does not work(I am unable to even enter the password) I have to turn off thecomputer power button (to put in sleep) and wake it again.
Oh, one important detail: I can not even wake up the computer, because neither the keyboard nor mouse work. The computer nowonly wakes up the rear power button.
