Since 5.1.5 I cannot post images in Apple discussions

I often post to a few Apple discussion forums.
Often, to help others, a picture (more than likely to be a screenshot) is worth a thousand words.
Since installing Safari 5.1.5, the dialog to insert a picture - in a post such as this - does not work anymore.
Am I alone in this? Any solutions?
I would appreciate if people let me know if it is working or not. If it is a bug, and not just a glitch in my mac, I plan to let Apple know.
I figure it should have come up by now, so maybe it is just me... I have had to use Firefox just for this kind of thing.

Hi Luis ...
I have the same thing happen and the cache is usually the culprit.
Try emptying the Safari cache more often. From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache.
If that doesn't help, go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
For Lion v10.7x:  To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.

  • Since Firefox updated yesterday I cannot post on my blog - getting 'bad request error 400' message.

When I opened my blog today (more than once) the page came up but after I signed in I got a page up which says 'Bad request error 400' and I am unable to create a message or anything else. When I go back to the blog page there are no options on the top right for new post etc. This was all after Firefox automatically updated.

  • Cannot post images or links? Can you please verify my account?

    Hi,
I have updated my account with all my details and verified my email address via the auto generated email.
Can you please verify my account so I can post pictures/links.
    Thank you

If you are being told you cant post a link, or embed a picture (or any other restriction) you just need to post to this thread saying your account has not been validated
Look for the verify your account thread that is stuck to the top of the page.

  • Cannot log in to Apple discussion forum

    Hello,
I can't log in to apple discussion forum with safari on my MacBook Pro. With my iPod touch I haven't any problems. Why is that so? What can I do?
have you got a solution for me??
PS: I am from germany, so please excuse bad English.
    Thanks

    What should i do there
    As mentioned above:
"If you do have any \[accented characters in your name\], change them to unaccented characters in the email section here: http://myinfo.apple.com "
The problem is connected to your first and last name associated with your AppleID, not the forum as such. In the 'email' section at the linked page you can change those.

  • I cannot open images in my email since the Firefox update. Help!

I cannot open images in my email or view the embedded photo in a new tab since the Firefox Update. "IE" will let me open them, but not Firefox... How can I fix this?

Hi Pat..When I tried to run Fix It the computer pops up a screen that says this trouble shooter does not apply to this computer .The article refers to Internet Explorer 10 and Im running Internet Explorer 11. I did try to see it it would fix my problem but the registry entry does not exist on my computer (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\TabProcGrowth) I can get as far as HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer but I dont have the option to choose Main. I only have the option to choose New Window which does not open up when clicked. Internet Explorer also has no value. Is there anything else I should try?

  • What exactly does a new poster have to do to get permission to post images?

Recently there was a forum update that disabled new posters to add images
(AND links?) Supposedly this was to reduce spam. So far so good.
Not surprisingly, immediately after the update we have numerous posts in the Forums Issues forum complaining about this feature and no doubt plenty of users just submitting to this policy in silence.
This whole feature is a SEVERE (that's right. bold AND in caps) hindrance. I don't have the stats, but I'm sure a considerable percentage of
(non spam) original posts are from new users with no previous forum activity. Pictures are especially important in the Chart Control forum as visualization is what charting is all about.
(This is the forum I frequent. So yes, I'm biased.)
Ofcourse, I'm sure the forum developers have weighed the pros and cons and studied the stats and then decided what to do after serious consideration...
The question is: What exactly does a new poster have to do to get permission to post images? Wait for how long? Reply to a confirmation email? "Participate" more?
(Say it ain't so.) How much more?
If there really is a workaround by adding an image tag with the edit html button, I don't want to hear it. It's as silly a way to add images as in the before times, the long long ago.
(Also, if this is possible, this whole restriction feature is actually worse than useless. Spammers will exploit this sooner than later. (A very good point made by our dear friend Quincy in a post that has since been deleted it
    seems.))

I believe answering that question defeats the purpose of having the "feature".
    I suspected as much.
I was hoping to add some explanation to the chart forum FAQ, I guess "Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account."
(if this really is the only message new posters get) will have to do.
I still feel this is more of a hindrance to the quality of the forums than not. As confirmed it seems by Naomi, spammers already have a workaround.
Sipla, it sounds like we should add this FAQ to this article:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/7359.forums-help-faq-en-us.aspx
    What do you suggest?
What does the message say to the user who cannot post links and images yet? We should map to that language.
    Thanks!
Ed Price (a.k.a User Ed), SQL Server Customer Program Manager (Blog,
    Twitter,
    Wiki)
It says "Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account."
If this means you will get a verify email, then you should get a verify email.  The message infers that either action will be taken by the forum mods that will be apparent to the user or that the user needs to take some sort of action.
If this is not the case, the wording needs to be changed; it should not mislead you.  This is an incredibly vague status message.
I do not have any record of a verify email in my inbox history.  All I have is an email this morning from MSDN Site Support (I also posted a request yesterday in MSDN Site Feedback) asking me which account I needed verified.  I only have one account.
Almost immediately after I replied, I was able to post links and photos.  Honestly I do not know which came first though, the "verification" or my reply to the email or someone noticing the thread about compaining about it a month after signing up.

  • From iPhoto. I simply took a PDF and saved it to iPhoto as a photo and then sent it as an embedded "photo" that was my document. Since changing to Lion, I cannot do it this way. Help!

I used to send embedded documents rather than as an attachmentfrom iPhoto. I simply took a PDF and saved it to iPhoto as a photo and then sent it as an embedded "photo" that was my document. Since changing to Lion, I cannot do it this way. Help!

I found the solution on another post by user rbii:
You can add this using Automator:
    - Run automator, select File->New, chose Print Plugin
    - From the PDFs part of the library drag "Render PDF Pages as Images" to the workflow on the right, set resolution to 200.
    - From the Photos part of the library drag "Import Files into iPhoto" to the workflow section.
    - Save the workflow
That should get you back this feature."
Save the workflow as "Save PDF to iPhoto" and you'll get that option back on the list. Hope this helps!

  • Cannot delete images from LR 5

    First, my setup:
    LR 5.3
New 2013 iMac with 3T fusion drive
    OS X Mavericks
I migrated all of my apps, files, etc from a 2007 iMac, following Apple's procedure. To take advantage of the speed of the fusion drive, I moved my image files from a La Cie external drive to the iMac's fusion drive. (Yes, I am backed up, triply backed up with both external backup drives and cloud backup.) There were a few hiccups, but I straightened them out and now can access every one of my images, process, etc.
But...since the migration and importation to the iMac internal fusion drive, I cannot delete images. When I'm sorting, I use the X key to mark images for deletion. Then, when I use the standard cmd-delete key combination, I get the standard window offering me the option of just removing the image from the catalog or deleting it from the disk. When I select the latter (since I don't want rejected images clogging my hard drive), a new window appears: The file named "___" could not be moved to the trash folder."
The problem occurs only since the migration and moving of the images to the new drive.
I have tried numerous fixes suggest in various forums—create a new folder, then delete it to create a channel for LR; check permissions; repair permissions; run various commands through terminal. It's maddening because I sometimes reject a few hundred images at a time, and there's simply no reason to retain them on my drive. Any help will be much appreciated and rewarded with a dram of virtual single-malt scotch.

You're right, Suzanne, I had...or so I thought. I had checked at too high a level in the folder hierarchy. When I drilled down, I found the last two levels of folders didn't even have me listed as an owner. Odd. What I found, to my delight, was that I could change permissions on the master image folder, then instruct that those changes be applied to all folders within the master folder. Solved the whole problem.
So Suzanne, Geoff, even though neither of you directly provided the solution, your answers got me to check a couple of things that turned up the problem and the solution. So thanks!

  • Cannot post a reply

For whatever reason, although I am logged-in to Adobe Forums, I cannot post a reply to a message that was posted in reply to my original message (which began the discussion).  A blank white space, barely discernible, is displayed below the two lines with their respective radion buttons for "Yes my question was answered." and "No, my question was not answered."  The choice is "No", but I did not ask any question(s) to begin with.
Instead, I posted three screenshots which showed  problems that I encountered while attempting to download and install the most recent update to Adobe Reader for Firefox.  Someone posted a reply that the same problem occurs with Opera.  I wanted to tell him that Firefox, Safari and Opera all use the same add-on for Adobe Reader.
But there was no way that I could discover to enter any text into the field for it.  Javascript was enabled, or I would not have been able to use the Reply feature to access the screen on which the message was to be composed.  The field never contained a cursor, regardless of my attempts to cause one to appear, whether with the mouse or with the keyboard.  Please understand that I do NOT have any desire whatsoever to go to Jive Software, open an "account" with them, and attempt to engage in some problem-solving for their software.  I am not a beta-tester!!   My name and other data about me is in far too many databases as it is.  If you can't hire people whose product works, then  DIY.
In fact, Adobe's use of subcontractors has become very alienating.  When I attempted to update Adobe Reader on the evening of July 29, the process was a travesty.  First, it was not clear whether the update in which the security vulnerablilities have been corrected was available, let alone installed.  This  is partly because your website maintainer(s) are too ignorant, or too lazy, to post the entire version number of the current Adobe Reader release.  They just post "version 9.1" and omit anything after it.  So they don't have to update the page until either of the two digits change.  But it is the digits that follow "9.1."  which disclose whether the version that I'm about to download (http://www.adobe.com/downloads) is the one that is already installed, or a version that is subsequent.  Perhaps you are afraid that disclosing technical data that is actually useful will intimidate and alienate the artists and writers who are the primary users of your products (you're lucky that they aren't all running the Apple MacIntosh instead).  But I doubt that will happen.  It is the failure to disclose such data that will eventually alienate EVERYONE.
For what it is worth to you,  I have posted the message text below at the following link:
    http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-12846-0.html?forumID=102&threadID=314113&messageID=313100 9&alertspromo=100901&tag=nl.rCOMBINED
    What makes a difference is
    http://www.get.adobe.com instead of http://www.adobe.com/downloads.
    {Update 2009-08-01: when I tried the first link with Firefox 3.5.1 today, Embarq, my ISP, displayed what used to be an HTTP 404 (?) error message but now is an Embarq website page that leaves you wondering why you are looking at it instead of what you wanted. I don't know what has happened to the first URL, but that was what Securnia PSI used during its downloads of the updates, as described below.}
I have used the second one for years, but now it has nothing but problems. Thanks for the link to the IE 8 download. What I did this evening was to first run Windows Update (with IE 7).
The MS update site offered: (A) upgrade to I.E. 8, (B) cumulative security update for I.E. 7 KB972260, and (C) Silverlight update to ver. 3.0.40723.0 KB970363. The one for Silverlight surprised me; it wasn't there on Tuesday 14 July. After all of them were installed, I ran I.E. 8 just to go through its initial configuration routine, so that it should not interfere with subsequently updating any add-ons.
Then I ran Secunia PSI and had it do a new scan. It reported updates: (A) for Adobe Air; (B) Adobe Flash Player (ActiveX) to 10.0.32.18; (C) Adobe Flash Player (General Plug-In) to 10.0.32.18; and (D) Shockwave Player 11.5.1.601. I used the Secunia "Download Solution" feature for each one; it obtained the respective updates from http://www.get.adobe.com. Secunia continued reporting the Flash Player version as 10.2.22.87 until I deleted Flash10b.ocx from the C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash directory; the current one is Flash10c.ocx.
Curiously, Secunia did not report Adobe Reader as insecure or outdated, on my computer. AcroRd32.exe Properties > Version showed Version: 9.1.0.163 but also displayed File Version and Product Version as 9.1.0.2009022700. Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs reported the Adobe Reader version as 9.1.2. Go figure.
However, updating Adobe Reader via http://www.adobe.com/downloads on July 29 required installing two Firefox add-ons: an extension for the Adobe Download Manager, and a plug-in "getPlus+ for Adobe 16236" (if my memory is correct). Of course, there were a couple of .exe files under the radar in C:\Program Files\NOS and some more in C:\Documents and Settings\...\Application Data\NOS. After all of that, I subsequently learned, from looking at the Secunia report for I.E. Secure Browsing, that "NOS Microsystems getPlus ActiveX Control 1.x" is "insecure, no solution".
Already I wasn't happy about having one of the NOS executables installed as a service, as though that is what the memory must contain after every system boot. And I didn't like Yet Another Firefox Extension just for the convenience of one particular software developer and/or their distributor. Firefox already loads slower than I like and adding YAFFX like that makes it even slower to load.
So I uninstalled Adobe Reader and all of its Additional Ware from NOS; I found files from both all over the HDD. I think that I deleted everything that I don't want or need although the I.E. NOS ActiveX control remains. I have never downloaded a .PDF, or looked at one, with I.E. and I don't plan to, so maybe I should just get rid of that one, too, if I can.
For the time being, at least, I'll be looking at .PDF files with Foxit. Of course, Adobe Flash Player and Shockwave Player remain installed, with Adobe AIR and Adobe Download Manager.
    Posted: 07/31/2009 @ 09:32 PM (PDT)                  (edited 08/01/2009 @ 06:18 PM (PDT))
As of this writing, I do not have any Adobe or NOS add-ons (extension or plug-in) installed in Firefox, and I am planning to remove the insecure ActiveX Control that has been installed for Internet Explorer 8.
Continue to follow your current strategy, and you won't have the burdens of maintaining either Adobe Flash Player or Shockwave Player as well.  I had Adobe Media Player installed, but I removed it since I've never found a reason to run it.

    Hi, Kath H.,
I hope that you heeded the warnings.  Adobe has, however, released updates in which the security flaws have been corrected.  From my reading of posts on some (non-Adobe) forums, what everyone has a problem finding is where to download the updates and/or to install them directly online.
    The customary location is:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads.
You will find three "buttons" labeled "Get Adobe Reader", "Get Adobe AIR", "Get Adobe Flash Player" and one hyperlink for "Get Shockwave Player". You need to update the ones that are installed on your computer (usually, at least Flash Player and Shockwave Player).  The website button will automatically present you with the version that is appropriate for the browser that you are running at the time that you access the download.
BTW, please be aware that what I found at the customary Adobe downloads website on July 31 for Adobe Reader and Firefox was a travesty.  I don't know whether Adobe has taken corrective measures since, but their "instructions for Firefox users" were outdated and simply wrong.  I had already updated Adobe Reader on July 29, but I was not sure that I had actually obtained the update, since some people were reporting that they had to do it twice before it was installed correctly.
Something that may interest you is Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI).  It inventories all of the software on your computer, and compares (via the Internet) each  version that it finds to the Secunia database to check whether it is up-to-date, or it might be known to contain security flaws.  An individual user can download, install and use Secunia PSI without charge (commercial use requires a license).  You can obtain it from:
    http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/
One  feature is that, after Secunia PSI runs a "scan" of your software, it displays any "insecure" programs on a tab labeled "Insecure".  Each entry has a [+] box which is expandable into an explanation, and a toolbar at the bottom with several actions that you can take, the first being "Download Solution" (when the software developer or publisher has a software update available).  That is what I used to update the "insecure" Adobe Flash Player and Shockwave Player add-ons for Firefox (and for I.E., also, which I have installed but don't run often).  Secunia PSI downloaded them from  https://www.get.adobe.com but I haven't been able to connect there with the browser.
Since Secunia PSI did not report Adobe Reader as insecure, I have supposed that it was updated.  (You can scan my first post here to find out why I uninstalled it and installed Foxit instead!)

  • Cannot open image files in PS CS3 from Bridge CS3

Cannot open file in Photoshop CS3 (10.0.1) from Bridge CS3 (2.1.1.9)
Tried choosing File>Open and double clicking the image thumbnail
Error dialogue box pops up and reads:
    Windows cannot find\C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Photoshop.exe
I wouldnt expect CS\Photoshop.exe to be found because CS3\Photoshop.exe upgrade is installed.
Will downloading the Adobe Photoshop update for Adobe Photshop CS3 (11/15/2007) or Adobe Bridge CS3 update for Adobe Bridge CS3 (11/15/2007) be my best bet for correcting this problem?

Thanks to Freeagent for pointing me to the solution.
    For fellow Windows XP user's:
Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types
It would have been nice if the Install Wizard of PS would have handled this automatically or had an advisory instruction to manually associate image files in Windows XP.
I thought all along this was a Photoshop CS3 / Bridge CS3 problem since Bridge was calling for both the image file and Photoshop.
If Freeagent has anyone's ear at Adobe please pass this on.
    Thanks Again

  • Edge poster image no longer visible in design mode

    Just updated to Muse 2014.3
In design mode the preview of Edge Animations has been replaced with the "Eg" icon.
The animations works just fine but it is more difficult to place them properly without a preview image.
I checked the Edge Animation file to make sure that the poster image was selected.

Yes, it came down to something corrupted with OS X as suddenly I started getting the long grey progress bar every time I booted OS X (no problems when booting Windows 7 on the Boot Camp partition).
Disk Utility could not repair it and for some reason I couldn't boot off a USB drive that I had setup as a recovery drive, so I couldn't repair it via Disk Warrior nor TechTool (I misplaced the boot DVDs over the years of moving).
Since this was my laptop that I only use when I'm on the road, all my important information was synced to my desktop Mac so I just started over and reformatted the entire hard drive and reinstalled everything (it gave me the opportunity to try out 10.7 preview release on a clean install as well as I wanted to upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit Windows 7 anyways) and now everything works fine, including Target Disk mode.
