Since Apple's Xserve has only one power supply...

Has anyone used this APC device with Apple's Xserves?

I like to find a way to spread my Xserve's power across 2 circuits for redundancy. Obviously this doesnt help things if I my Xserve's power supply dies (I have a parts kit with a cold spare), but it would be nice to have for other power issues (circuit pops, etc)
I sure hope Apples next gen Xserve provides a few more features like:
2 power supplies
Dedicated network managment interface (a 3rd NIC dedicated to management)
Internal hardware RAID onboard (no slot required)
Internal Onboard video (no slot required)

The APC redundant power switch is completely agnostic as far as what's attached to it (as long as you don't exceed its amperage rating). It'll work just fine with your XServe.
As for the other features - there are very few vendors putting dual power supplies in a 1U case. It happens, but isn't common. I'd eschew a third/management NIC for a proper serial console port, although either would be welcome. Off-hand I can't think of a single vendor who offers RAID 5 out-of-the -box without an additional card of some sort (of course, a dedicated slot rather than a PCI slot would suffice), and I don't miss the video card other than when troubleshooting boot issues which thankfully aren't that common.

A new post to my iTunes U course shows up in my course both on my Mac and my iPad Air, as well as on other students' iPads, but for one single student. We have closed the app and forced shutdown. Student recently added more icloud space, but that is all. iPad is up-to-date in terms of iOS and iTunesU app. The student has only one Apple ID associated with her iPad.
We have reposted two more times. The second time the post showed up for a few seconds, but then disappeared. It does not show up under any other section (assignments, discussions, etc). Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Have you contacted Apple support?
I don't know if these will work, but you could have the student try the following:
logout of his or her iTunes U (i.e., iTunes Store) account using Settings
force-quit iTunes U
relaunch iTunes U
sign in to the newly launched app when prompted

I tried what you said again but without success. I even updated the driver so that that audio driver is the same as the graphics driver i.e.. NVIDIA but this has not helped either:

The 16G IPOD catalog entry should have in bold THIS THING HAS ONLY ONE CAMERA. I bought one for my dad thinking it was same as the last one i bought. my fault, but also theirs.

I just ordered a new 16G iPod touch for my dad. the bigger models said they had an hd camera, so i assumed this one did not BUT AT LEAST HAD A REAR FACING CAMERA.
So it arrives and he says it only has one camera and I say of course it has two cameras.
it turns out just a front-facing camera (so i guess thats what Facetime camera meant).
so now he wants to return it
be careful ordering. my fault, but also theirs. it's like selling a car without a windshield. their should be a giant sign that says, this thing has only one windshield

Disagree for three reasons:
1) this is a KEY feature that was removed from prior models. removing something that cutomers depend upon requires more than burying in a cryptic spec.
2) even spec does not use clear generic terms like "front-facing camera" "rear-facing camera" or "has one camera" - instead it used Apple-terms like Facetime camera and isite camera, which on a casual glance appears like just upgrade/downgrade camera version. 16g model says facetime camera, and cell next to it it says isite camera (instead of also showing both models have facetime camera on the same row) and that's not a proper comparison grid, comparing apples to apples, so to speak...
3) you presume every person that orders finds this page (which i contend is not clear). i don't want to spend an hour learning what apple-jargon translates to "this model has only one camera"

Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Security Filter fails when level has only one member

This is Essbase version 9.3. I have a forecast app\db to allow users enter\modify the forecast of the different products. The Product Dimension has the following hierarchy.
All Products
Planner 1
Supplier A
Product_A1
Product_A2Supplier B
Product_B1
Product is the lowest level, level 0, or Gen 4.
I need to allow the "Planner 1" to write only to his products, where the member is "My Scenario" from Scenario Dimension, and where the UDA's for the month is Forecast. The same planner can't write to the "All Products", "Planner" and "Supplier" levels.
I have created the following filter:
None: "All Products"
Read: @IDESCENDANTS("Planner 1")
Write: @REMOVE(@LIST(@DESCENDANTS("Planner 1")),@LIST(@LEVMBRS ("Planner 1", 1))), "My Scenario",@UDA("Time","FORECAST")
Basically, this is the portion most relevant of the filter: @REMOVE(@LIST(@DESCENDANTS("Planner 1")),@LIST(@LEVMBRS ("Planner 1", 1)))
where

This filter works perfectly but it has a little\big exception...
Based on the example, the filter works fine for Supllier A. Meaning that the user can modifiy the forecast for the products under Supplier A (Product_A1 and Product_A2), and the user can't modify the upper levels, "Supplier A", "Planner 1", "All Products". This is GOOD!
Now. For Supplier B, Essbase will allow write back to the Product_B1, OK. But will also allow write back to Supplier B, the upper level.
So. When the supplier has only one product, Essbase presents this exception that allows write to the upper level. This happens everywhere a supplier has only one product. When there are more than one product per supplier, the filter works as expected.
Is there a missing piece in my filter? Is there a different, better approach to accomplish this?

It's probably an implied share problem. That is, because Supplier B has only one child it is treated as a shared member. You can use the "never share" storage property setting to avoid that problem.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP 14-d006la Notebook and having issues with connecting a microphone. Audio-out (headphone)/Audio-in (microphone) jack connects optional powered stereo speakers, headphones, earbuds, a headset, or a television audio cable. Also connects an optional headset microphone. This jack does not support optional microphone-only devices. Be sure that the device cable has a 4-conductor, a connector that supports both audio-out (headphone) and audio-in (microphone). Here is a document on connecting a microphone.

Dead B&W G3 ? Only the power supply seems to work...

Hi Everyone...
Here's my setup:
Powermac G3 B&W Rev.B
Processor: Powerlogix G3 750FX (1Ghz)
Ram: 1GB (4x256Mb)
OS 10.4.9 (latest OS supported by Powerlogix)
HD: IBM desktar 120MB
DVD-Rom: Samsung DVD-/+R
PCI 66Mhz -> Radeon 9200
PCI 33MHZ -> M-Audio 2496 Audiophile Audio Card
PCI 33MHZ -> Sonnet Tango 2.0 (USB/FW)
PCI 33MHZ -> Sonnet Tempo ATA133 (my main drive uses this card)
The B&W G3 has been one of my hobby machine for a year (I mostly use it as a jukebox to listen to AIFF disc images in PCM / uncompressed sound).
Anyway... it died on Saturday night... just after upgrading to a Sonnet Tempo ATA 133 card...
As I've been a Mac user for a long time (and I've been there before with a Gossamer MB in my beige G3 which died out of the blue once), I completely did empty the motherboard... adding one element at a time to isolate the issue but the fact is that:
a) no startup sound
b) black screen (nothing comes out of the Radeon 9200)
c) only the power supply seems to work
d) even when plugging the HD into the MB IDE socket, the HD doesn't even activate itself (no boot).
Of course, I went through the CUDA switch, tried to reset the PRAM, checked the jumpers on the HD (master position)...
I also tried to boot the system off the OSX Tiger Install DVD but nothing...
I have a feeling that my MB may be DOA.
What do you think ?
If this is the case, since I'm using a Tempo ATA 133 PCI Card, does it make any difference to replace it with either a REV.A or B MB ?

I posted the following on another thread, but I haven't gotten any response.
I'm having a similar problem with a B&W 350 MHz (rev 1 I think). I get the start up tone and nothing appears on the monitor. Not sure if the machine is actually booting or not.
I am trying to repair this machine for a friend. They had been having a problem with the machine booting into a blue screen. I suspected a corrupt directory, so I ran Disk Utility (from another machine) and also Disk Warrior. Both Disk Utility's Disk Repair feature and Disk Warrior found problems. Disk Warrior was able to successfully rebuild the directory.
I had removed the hard drive from the machine and put it in an external casing in order to run Disk Repair and Disk Warrior. Upon putting the hard drive back into the B&W and booting the machine, I was able to successfully boot the machine into Tiger. I tested the machine for a few minutes and it seemed to work fine.
Next, I ran software update and installed a new version of Safari and then after the required re-boot, tried to repair disk permissions. During the repair of disk permissions, the machine froze up completely. The clock stopped ticking and there was no mouse or keyboard response. I tried using the re-boot button on the front of the machine, but the machine would not fully re-boot. I get a boot tone, but no video.
I tried re-setting the CUDA chip by pressing the re-set button on the logic board, but to no avail.
Finally, I did take the battery out and had it tested at Radio Shack. The battery is showing a good 3.6 volts.
I have a second B&W (300 MHz) that is basically doing the same thing. Do you know what could be causing the lack of video signal?

PS: I tried re-setting the logic board as described in another post (unplugged machine, pressed power button, removed battery, waited 10 minutes). I have tried the CUDA reset several times, but I only press the button for a second, not 15 seconds. I have re-seated the RAM. I have removed all the RAM and tested each. Nothing seems to work.

Help for beginner: Need labview signal to power on =2 actuators of 8 with one power supply

I am a beginner in using labview. I need to use labview signal to turn on >=2 ac 8 actuators with one power supply. The 24VDC, 0-3A power supply is enough to drive all 8 actuators which need 24VDC and 0.1A current. So the main function is like turning on 2 or more than 2 switches in series with the 8 actuators with one power supply. Any suggestion of some simple module for this purpose? Thanks.

Maybe I didn't say the question clear. I have one power supply (24VDC, 0-3A) and 8 solenoid valves (24VDC and 0.1A). Two valves (or more than two in future) have to be activated each time. I would like to find something that can work like switches installed in series with the valves. Then I can wire the valves (with the switches) in parallel with the power supply. As I turn the switches on and off with signals from Labview board, power to that specific valve will be turned on and off.
Any advice for this kind of switches or any module that can be controlled by Labview signal? Please help! Thanks.

In actual fact, the Psu is an internal unit. It seems there has been an error when listing the specs.
It is a 180W internal PSU.
The question remains for anyone willing to help us understand.
How is it possible to run this system with these components with just a 180w PSU at moderate to full load/system resource capacity.
Every single Wattage calculator I've used online (mainstream manufacturers and industry accepted benchmarks) show that this setup needs at least a 220w to 300w psu to run at full load. Have there been comprimises made in some shape or form?
I'd really appreciate any input that the community can provide.
Please help fill in the gaps!

Pass value of column when report has only one row

Hello everyone,
Sorry for not being very accurate with the title of the thread.Here's my situation:
I have an item that, when modified(key pressed) refreshes an interactive report. All the report column have link to a javascript function, so when the user clicks the row it passes a value to another item on the page.
To be more specific it goes like this: the user enters a numer in the item, and as he presses a key the report is shrinked down based on the number that it's made.(asynchronous search like google)
Here's my problem:
I have made all this working(using dynamic actions and a little javascript), but, for the sake of making it user-friendly i want that when the report is shrunk to only one line, the value of a column in that line to be auto-passed to a page item.(or a javascript function)

I am currently work on something similar, sort of, unless it's not.
Anyway, the first function called by the action, onChange in my case, returns a count of items. If there is an exact match, meaning a one is returned, the function branches one way. Otherwise, it branches another way.
In the case of an exact match, I run some other JS/AJAX to populate other details on the line. If not an exact match, in my case, I show a <div id="searchCriteria"> for the user to refine their search or accept what they typed in the first box and get a list of all possible matches. Obviously yours would behave differently.

Issue with Selection Listener when the table has only one row

Hi All ,
I have developed a table in which I am using Selection Listener to perform some task when any row is selected.
It is working fine when I have more than 1 row in the table, but when I have only one row in the table , the selection listener do not call the corresponding method in bean.
I understand that selection event will be raised only when the row is changed, but in the use case when only one row is there, what should be done to make the selection listener work ?
In the selection listener I have written code to make the selected row as current row , and perform the required task.
Please suggest a way out for this situation.

HELP!! my computer shuts down at random ONLY when power supply is attached

I still have the factory power supply. My problem just happens when ever it feels like it. I could be watching something on Quicktime or have Adium running. I have had it happen to me regardless if it was being used a little or a lot. But It ONLY happens when my power supply is attached. If I plug in my power supply to charge my computer it will shut off. I have read some other posts pointing to the problem being the logic board and that a few of the iBook G4's are subject. If this is a common problem with this computer model I think Apple should recall them and fix the problem. Any insight will be great.

I wouldn't suppose Apple woud repair it for less than the cost of a new ATV Black :-(

it's a universal device, so will work anywhere.
the only thing you will need to change is the power cable/plug.
