Since downloaded OSX upgrade from Apple cant start applications or see mail

Apple sent a 150Mb OS X software upgrade to my powerbook last night, which downloaded successfully, but it quit during installation and gave an error message saying it had been put in the trash.
Since then the mailbox lost its settings and now they are replaced it wont show any messages, although it shows they are in the mailboxes; applications such as Word wont start due to a "shared library error"; Safari quits if I try to access any website including Apple. On clicking "Software update" it tries to load and then quits and prints an error message to send to Apple.
How can I get it to work again?

Hi Saudi Software Engineer,
Just a quick thought. If nothing else will work, try booting from your Mac OSX install cd (holding down C during boot up when your cd (1) is loaded) and trying to do an "Archive & Install". It will keep all your documents, etc, but it will revert your system to the pre-update state. Maybe this will help....

I had the same problem with some apps and printer setup software. SInce Rosetta has been discontinued on Lion my only solution was to restore to 10.6 since the manufacturers either have not yet or will not release updated apps. In this case you have to determine how important those old PPC apps are to keep around and if there alternitives that are available to replace the functionality. I would expect a broadband provider to update thier apps if it is something that is required to connect.

You can't have content in iCloud without having it on your phone, you will need to look at deleting items from your device that you don't need. Movies and TV shows from iTunes are possibly a good start because they tend to be large and can be redownloaded at a later date.

I cant update to Lion 10.7 and there is no way a i can download the update from apple unless i pay... AGAIN????

Exactly which Mac OS X version is currently intalled?
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
If you see v10.7 you can use Lion Recovery to reinstall OS X.

The OSX upgrade couldn't be started because the disk is damaged and can't be repaired.

I'm getting the above error message after trying many different "fixes" described on message boards. Here's the issue: I have a Macbook Pro that developed a problem with an endless boot cycle. The solution ended up being to wipe the drive using Disk Utility. I then reinstalled OSX from a Snow Leopard disk, and the computer appeared to be working normally. Then, when I attempted to upgrade to Mavericks from the App Store, I get this message when the computer tries to reboot and install the OS. I have tried verifying and repairing the disk, resetting NVRAM/PRAM, resetting the SMC...but always I get the following error message:
Install Failed
OSX could not be installed on your computer
The OSX upgrade couldn't be started because the dis Macintosh HD is damaged and can't be repaired
Curious if anyone has experienced this problem or has a possible fix. Thanks for your help

I did not verify/repair from Snow Leopard...simply reinstalled then attempted to download/install Mavericks from the App Store. Having seen this suggestion, I've now rebooted into recovery mode, and when I try to verify/repair, it aborts both processes and I get the respective errors: "The volume couldnot be verified completely" and "Error: Disk Utility can't repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files."

Are you sure, it is the AppStore version and not an Apple Store version? The version number suggests, you are running Snow Leopard and not Lion or Mt. Lion. With MacOS X 10.7.5 you should have been able to upgrade to Aperture 3.4.5 by now.
If you bought Aperture from the AppStore ( Not the pre-Lion Apple Store version), then the usual solution is to reinstall Aperture. Have you kept the installer you downloaded? You cannot download you current Aperture version again, since the AppStore version is now 3.4.5.
But if you downloaded Aperture from the Apple Store, you should have received a serial number by email. If you cannot find your serial number, contact Apple with a proof of purchase:

I have just downloaded the upgrade from Mountain Lion to Yosemite. In the process i am now unable to gain access to iTunes. The app on desktop no longer works and the install is not able to be opened.

Some days ago I downloaded an album from Apple-store. Unfortunatly I was in an area with bad connection to the internet. The download started and stopped several times. When I listen to the album I can hear scratches and stops.How can I fix this? Is it possible to redownload the whole album for free?

Use Office for Mac 2011. If you have it, open one of the programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and do Help > Check for Updates from the menu.
Otherwise, purchase Office 365 and use that.
