I have seen other users talk about this and make the same claim. Unfortunately, even if you didn't set a passcode, and the iPad is insisting that you did, unless you can successfully guess what the passcode is, you still have to follow these instructions and use one of the methods in here in order to restore your iPad which will then unlock it.

I have tried numerous time but everytime I try to sync my iphone up through itunes it says that I do have the latest version (4.2.10) and that it will check for new updates in a few day.
However, this is not the latest version it is 10.3. Thus, how do i get itunes to download 10.3 for me. there are several apps i want to use and can not because they need this lattest version.

BobIf it's a Verizon phone then 4.2.10 is the latest version for it - that is the Verizon equivalent to version 4.3.5 on AT&T (i.e. sim based) iPhones.

How can I retrieve my four digit security code? I've never been asked to use one before when trying to do an update.
There is no way to retrieve the 4 digit code. You have to restore the device if you don't know the code and you cannot unlock the device. There have been more than a few users that are asking about this and they are all saying the same thing that you are saying - they never set a passcode before.
What is the exact message that you are getting when you try to update? -
My account keeps asking for 2 security question answers saying this is the first time I used this computer not true used this computer many times. Then when I put ansers in says incorrect answers. What's up with this?
There have a few other posts from people saying that they are being asked their questions despite it not being the first purchase on the computer or device.
If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get them reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support :http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team :http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312 . I'm not computer literate. It says contact your server administrator but I don't know what this means.
Your "server administrator" would be, for example, Google support for Gmail, Yahoo support for Yahoo mail, Microsoft support for Hotmail, your company IT support for work email, iCloud support for iCloud email, et cetera.
Quite likely, some setting in that email account is not quite right. Perhaps it got mangled during the update, or perhaps it is a coincidence. -
I have Windows 8.1 on my PC. Ever since downloading the latest version of i Tunes, it will not recognize any of my i Pods (3) and therefore am unable to sync any music from my i Tunes to the i Pods. I've tried all the obvious things like resarting the PC as well as the i Pods tried different patch cables but the i Tunes software will no longer recognize my i Pods. I have automatic sync selected, but I even tried to manually sync by clicking on devices under File but the sync icon is "grayed" out. When I look under Preferences and click on devices the serial numbers of my i Pods appear and are correct but again will not recognize the i Pod when plugged in to the PC. Bottom line I'm dead in the water....appreciate any suggestions....thanks

While downloading the latest IOS update to my iPhone 4S, my phone went into a frozen state with the update 2/3's complete. It's remained like this for the past 12 hours. I can't turn the phone off, and I can't connect it to iTunes. Anyone know what to do?
If the place of purchase does not have a 'Lemon' policy (three replacements = refund or complete exchange), sadly you are out of luck.
And Apple themselves do not have any power over what policy a reseller uses. You can call Apple Care and have them replace it, but the odds are you would probably get a standard replacement again like has previously happened. I'm pretty sure Apple holds their own sort of 'Lemon' polocy where if it's been replaced three times through them they'll swap it out for a brand new phone. Not 100% sure though, best bet is too call them again.
And it ***** getting a response like that from their support personel, but hey, they can't all be that bad can they? I'm sure if you plead your case they'll try and help out. I've dealt with them in the past and had one or two people that rubbed me the wrong way, but most of them have been a great help and kept me a happy customer, haha.

Hi, I don't know if this will help you but I have both an iPhone 4 and a iPhone 6 that would not work. In my case the latest version of iTunes is 12.01.035. I remembered having a similar problem on Windows 7/64 bit a while back and decided to reboot my computer go into the bios and basically disabled a bios setting called Intel xHCI Mode. This flag in the bios is used to turn off the USB 3.0 controllers. As soon I did that, and saved my system booted fine and it noticed both phones just fine. I tested this several more time on my system which is still fairly new having been build from scratch last last year. Each time when I turned USB3.0 back on, iTunes and Windows 7 for that matter would not notice my phones. If you do a search on that bios setting you will find the USB 3.0 has caused problems with many of the older device drivers and technology.

Google and Apple got into a fight and Google took his ball and went home (or Apple refused to use Google products). No YouTube, either...another Google app. You can download it in App Store. You can also download an app called Maps + Street View. I haven't downloaded, but previews look sharp. You can also go to Google and use their maps on the Internet. -

I've been working on this all day!!! I've tried everything I know of and can't get it to load either. Sounds like lots of people are having problems. Here is what I have so far...I have uninstalled EVERYTHING on my pc from apple and reinstalled itunes to no avail. I have tried all sorts of things I've read as fixes online. NOTHING has worked. Here is something interesting that i have noticed though. my main pc (which is the one i have always managed my itunes account with for years) is a 32 bit system running windows 7. Yesterday I installed itunes for the first time on my new netbook which is a 64 bit (windows 7) system and it works just fine. i have three other laptops (all window 7) in my household that are all 64 bit operating systems and ALL have updated to 10.5 and THEY ALL work fine. this is FOUR 64 bit systems ALL updated w/10.5 that work and ONE that is a 32 bit that will not. Can't get any help from apple. their suppot *****! I want to get someone on the **** phone or a live chat but cant. *** APPLE????? please let mw know if you find SOMETHING i can try next. I'm out of ideas and patience!
