Bullets which include links will prevent correct copy/paste content from word document to wiki page.

I have a word document around 20 pages which contains the following sentence (a bullet with two links):-
Now if I remove this sentence then copy/paste the 20 pages from word to wiki page they will be pasted correctly inside the wiki page , where all the pages, bullets, etc will be mapped correctly inside the wiki page as HTML tables, bullets ,etc.
But the problem if I kept the above sentence then the whole 20 pages will be pasted as plain text inside the wiki page.
So can anyone advice on this ?and how I can overcome it ?

You can try this (1) Save as Word Doc as single file web page (2) Open that file in normal text editor(notepad or so) and copy all (3) Goto Wiki page edit source and paste all (4) Save it

Pasting text from word replaces Keynote styles

I get documents that are styled in Word that I have to convert to Keynote. Even though my text boxes are styled in the Master Slides, when I copy and paste text from word it comes in with all of word's formatting and disregard's Keynote's styling for that text box. I tried to convert the word docs to rtf or just plain text, but the text just imports without Keynote's styling applied to it. It would be very tedious to have to style each text box as I bring it in to Keynote. Does anyone have any suggestions to make the workflow less painful?

I can't copy and paste text from Word to a Facebook Post since I've been using Firefox. Why am I getting the background code? Internet Explorer lets me copy text from Word to Facebook.

I type my text in Word then open Facebook. I press Control-C to copy this text into my Facebook post and the result is that a lot of background code shows up.

I would use the older version so you can continue working while troubleshooting continues in CC2014, if you haven't uninstalled it yet (and it didn't also lose the ability to copy/paste).

When I copy content off a web page in Firefox and paste it in Microsoft Word, I lose the original formatting. It works fine in IE but I'm wanting to eliminate IE but I can't at this time because of this problem....

That is a problem with the clipboard. Firefox now places more formats on the clipboard and some software selects the wrong format.

Is there a way to paste content from one ID doc to another without importing the styles?

Hi all,
I often work with transferring content over from one catalog to another...each catalog has a completely different set of styles. Since I am an organization freak and like to keep things as organized as possible, it drives me crazy when all of the styles from the other ID doc are transferred over into my my new document. What I used to do was delete all of the styles from the catalog I was copying over from and save a copy like that simply for the use of copying information over (so that no styles were brought over), but I am currently working with copying over content from multiple catalogs that were built in InDesign and it will take me forever deleting all of the styles in those documents.
Normally it is a GOOD thing when styles are copied over, but not in this case. It is not important that format is carried over either...I just want the content. Normally I will grab a bunch of content (tables, text boxes and images) at a time to copy over. I amjust not able to use "Paste without formatting" either:( It is greyed out. I very often use the "Paste without formatting" when pasting in text by itself into a text block and that works great! But is there any way I can do something similar with a bunch of contents that are being pasted? Or even if I just want to paste a text block or two?

Thank you both so much for your input...those are both really great ideas! I had actually not known about the ability to "break the link" to the styles... I must have missed seeing that all this time I have been using InDesign...that is really useful!! And I also like the ideas of renaming the styles...I will have to see what works best tomorrow as I continue on. There are just soooooo many different styles involved that renaming them may not be feasible in this particular instance so I may need to just "break the links"....but then I just remembered that there are lots of table styles, cell styles and character/paragraph styles linked with the tables alone that I have to copy over....grrrrr. (making my hair stand on end thinking of it...lol)
Isn't there a way to break the links to EVERY style linked to one selected item (break the link to all table/cell/character/paragraph/object styles in one fell swoop) ?

Copy Paste content from PDF shows a missing character

Our website, a4academics provides a platform for sharing academic projects and seminar reports in PDF for Students. We are getting a complaint from students, that when they copy and paste the content from PDF, the word " F " is not getting copied in some reports. What might be the reason ? Is it because of the issue with the software which created the PDF report. Its happening in few PDF files only.

Characters going missing after placing content from Word

I am trying to place a chapter from Word to InDesign, recently I noticed in few chapters that characters at the end of a sentence are getting truncated from the actual content and getting added to the last page of the InDesign file.
I have extracted few pages from the InDesign file and marked the sentences on page 2, 3, and 4 where the characters have gone missing and have also marked the location on the last page where these characters have got inserted.
I am using Adobe InDesign CS4.

This particular annoyance used to pop up only very infrequently, but lately it happens more and more (perhaps upgrade related? I'm on 6.0.4 now). Saving the same document as RTF definitely does *not* help (only in the sense that I usually get other random fragments of text at the end).
It's not true it has anything to do with footnotes -- I just saw it in an entirely regular document, no thrills nor frills.
With every new version importing Word documents has detoriated more and more, where older versions happily import the exact same files that the newer version chokes on or simply imports wrong. I've noticed and reported this since, oh, CS2 came out, and -- sadly -- every new version since.
[Edit: It's a bit like that **** annoying line in the quotes that get inserted automatically!]

Copy/paste Footnotes from Word

I am writing my thesis and want to format in Pages. I did most of my work on Word, but it does not format pictures nearly as well. I copy-pasted my essay to Pages, but the new program does not recognizemy footnotes. Any help or suggestions?

Pages divorces foot notes from what it classifies as body text. If the footnotes are not preserved in the Pages body text, you will have to perform insert footnote to in the corresponding location of the original Word text.
Select the actual footnote text in word, copy, and in Pages, single click the corresponding footnote text area at the bottom of the Pages document. This will display as a box around the footnote text area. Double-click in this specific footnote text area, and then paste the content from the Word footnote text.

Pasting Text from Word to InDesign (need preserve selected formatting)

When I import text from Word to Indesign I want to preserve the Italic and semi-bold but nothing else.
The Indesign document has a template set up with ipsum text styled with semi-bold and normal text as well as a character style for the italic.
When I paste the text into InDesign I want the ital and semi-bold to translate into the already styled text frame with no other formatting from Word.
As there will be hundreds of text frames like this I want the ital etc to automatically translate. I also need to paste text over these templated text frames (see attached.

I'd like to answer this in a slightly different way..
It's a good idea to format anything you paste into RH in RH
using paragraph styles etc. Hardcoded formatting won't be under
stylesheet control which is very bad news.
In fact I generally paste stuff from a word doc into notepad
first to remove any formatting soI have "clean" text to begin with.
That way you ensure consistency when styles are updated etc
as well maintaining consistency with what's already there.

I have just dowloaded iTunes new version 10.4 (on Windows), and I can't paste artwork from Word anymore, only directly from the net (where the size or the quality are not always optimal). Any way around this?

Look out for "japiohelp".
In short:
a) press Windows key + "R", enter "cmd", and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter (= runs as admin)
b) enter "netsh winsock reset" and pres enter
c) reboot the computer

Pasting tables from Word into Dreamweaver MX

Hi everybody,
Did a search for this but didn't find anything.
I used to be able to paste tables (or individual rows and
columns) from Word XP directly into a Dreamweaver MX table.
Yesterday, I had to reinstall Dreamweaver MX due to a computer
crash and now can no longer paste in Word tables.
The rows or columns being copied simply delete the
Dreamweaver table and get pasted as text only.
Am i missing something like a patch or an update? Is there an
option or preference that can be set?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

However, Dreamweaver MX does not have a Copy/Paste option
under Preferences.
I have noticed that after the Word table gets pasted as text
(deleting the Dreamweaver table in the process) the Edit option to
undo says "Undo Paste as Text" and not "Undo Paste".
It is possible that somewhere there is a 'Paste' option set
to 'Paste as Text' and not 'Paste the Object'?

Boris title3D crashing when pasting Japanese from Word

Doing Japanese subtitling for a feature doc.
Not sure if this holds true for all versions of Word, but figured this might save someone a lot of pain.
When I try and copy Japanese text from Word into Boris Title3D, FCP consistently crashes. The solution, open up the doc in TextEdit and copy from there.
I am using a relatively old version of Word. May not hold true for later versions.
