Since going to IOS 7 constantly lose wifi connection

Since going to IOS 7 we constantly lose wifi and end up on data (Who do i send the bill to Tim?) usually it takes a while for the proper wifi to eve show up.
Does anyone have a similar propblem and hopefully solution. Besides going back to ios 6.1.4 ?
BTW love the phone but hate the colors and icons and operation on 7 as a result of all this pain.

  • IPad constantly loses wifi connection

I have an iPad and a iPad 2. They both disconnect from my home wifi connection constantly, every few minutes. I could be standing right next to the router and the problem persists. Surely this isn't the normal function of a $400+ device that claims "iPad with Wi-Fi makes it easy to stay connected". I also have a macbook and an iMac which have no issues connecting to the wifi. Is there something wrong with the iPad? Can you change the settings to solve the problem?

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Since 3.1 update, constantly lose 3G connections - how to revert?

A week or two ago, I updated my 3GS from 3.0 to 3.1 and ever since then, I would lose 3G connectivity in places where I've always had 3G. The ironic part is that the "level" indicator, in most cases would show 5 bars, but when I, in desperation, switch over to "Edge", the 5 bars would sometimes become a single bar - how is that? it's the same AT&T towers! If anything, it should be the reverse!
Anyway, this is clearly due to 3.1, so I want to restore the iPhone back to 3.0. How do I do this? When I connect the phone to iTunes, there's a "Restore" option, but it doesn't tell you whether it'll revert it back to the previous version (3.0) or to whatever the OS was when I first got the phone? Does anyone know? When I did a google search, some of the hits implied that Apple doesn't let you go back from 3.1 - I hope this is not true.
    Any info/advice are much appreciated.

The 3G and EDGE networks are two entirely different networks and may even use different frequencies and therfore are subject to different signal levels from the same towers.

Are you running OS X Lion? If so there are unfortunately numerous threads on here discussing exactly the same problem. So far there doesn't seem to be a definitive solution, with everyone hoping that Apple will come up with a permanent fix.
Here's a quick search of these forums alone - depressing reading:

This 'fix' has worked for a few people but, unfortunately, not everyone:

  • Why does my airport loses wifi connectivity often?

I am trying to find out my my airport loses wifi connectivity.  All of a sudden, there is no wifi in the  house.  What do i need to check?

    Hey barbaraeberle,
Thanks for the question. I understand that your AirPort seems to have lost its connection to the internet. To troubleshoot this issues, let’s try the following:
See if you can isolate the issue first by using Wireless Diagnostics:
    About Wireless Diagnostics
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5606
Additionally, check for sources of interference and reset your base station:

  • My ipad loses wifi connection every night, why?

My ipad loses wifi connection every night, why?

This is a user forum so no one here would know Apple's plans. By the way the problem may very well not be Apple's.
Even if your router is "new" visit the manufacturer's support web page to see if there is a firmware update for it. Also check to see if there is a support hotline or forum.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router.

  • My iPad 2 loses wifi connection on home network?

My iPad 2 loses wifi connection at home, iPhone remains constant and macbook remains constant. iPad rechecks every couple of minutes, then about every 15min or so loses connection, then I have to reselect network. Wifi is working on husbands iPad and iPhone without problem... suggestions?
Is a pain while surfing - suddenly get the "no internet connection", have to exit and go to settings and reselect the network. Frequently takes more than one attempt to reconnect.
    Thanks

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.

  • Time Capsule continually loses wifi connection

What causes time capsule to continually lose wifi connection with iMac (Early 2011 - 12,2) and how can I prevent this?

    Troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues

  • Ever since updating to IOS 6, my wifi has not been staying connected

This is applicable for my iPad and iPhone 4S. My iPhone doesn't connect to my home wifi at all and my iPad has issues staying connected. I never have these issues using my work place's free wifi for either device. At home I lose connection with my WiFi on my iPad on a regular basis while I'm using the device. I have to turn WiFi off and back on to reconnect and that usually works, but sometimes I simply can't connect to the internet at all even though my iPad shows it is connected to my WiFi. These issues were not happening prior to the update and not a single thing has changed with my wireless at home. No other devices (PCs and other smartphones) are having any issues with the internet at home, it is only my Apple devices.
Help! This is extremely annoying and inconvenient and I have tried different things with my internet (reserving IP addresses and devices) and it does not work.

    Try #5.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • MacBook Pro loses wifi connection upon wake since I bought a new AirPort Express

Hi. I've been using Apple devices and computers since february 2008 and had no problems until now. I currently own an early 2011 13" MacBook Pro and a PC running Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10. Until early February, I used a 2nd gen AirPort Extreme to connect to wifi upstairs, being connected via Ethernet to my ISP's modem located downstairs which provides a weak wifi signal (of course my ISP says it's impossible since their modem is the best on the market), not even compatible with Apple's wifi systems (all other French ISPs modems are compatible with it), that's why I had to get a 30 ft ethernet cable running down the stairs. My connection was lost everytime I went upstairs/downstairs so I bought a new Airport Express to replace my ISP's modem wifi signal and I'm using my AirPort Extreme to extend the wifi network upstairs. Now all my devices and computers have a strong wifi signal anywhere in my house with only one downside: My MacBook Pro (and only it) loses the wifi connection upon wake after sleep and I have to disconnect/reconnect it manually. I didn't bother installing Windows on it as I removed the Superdrive to setup a DIY Fusion Drive a few months ago so I can no longer boot optical medias and I can't know if it's a hardware or software problem. Again, everything was working all right on it until I changed my Wifi network configuration a month ago when I bought my Airport Express.
    Can anyone help me ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Well this isn't making sence.
What is the model # on your extreme?

  • Ios 8.2 wifi connection no longer working

"upgraded" to ios 8.2 on iPod touch 5 and now no wifi connectivity no matter what steps.  Already did the reset, hard reboot, etc .

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost Likely you did this but not sure what a hard reboot is)
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Lose wifi connection

The last 6 mons or so, since buying a new macbook pro, iPad and macmini my wifi randomly disconnects to my airport extreme and therefore to all items in the house (including my iphone) and I have to go unplug it and plug it back in. It can work for days at a time or cut out over 20 times a day. It is incredibly frustrating. Is this fixable or just a giant bug for me to enjoy? I love mac products but this is incredibly frustrating.
Do I have to recreate my entire wireless account on the airport from scratch again to fix it? If so, how? It was working fine with our old macs until we upgraded everything.

Not sure that is the issue, as the airport extreme is directly connected to the shaw internet connection box by cable, yet still somehow loses internet connection. The two units are right beside each other. When i unplug it and plug it back in after a minute the wireless is ok again for a while. The issue is all my computing items will randomly all of a sudden lose wifi signal...nut just reduced bars but the signal is gone all together. It is wierd.

  • Mac loses WIFI Connection...

I just start experiencing this problem since I moved to a house with some DSL router but never experienced it when I was using my own NetGear router with a cable connection. My Mac loses its connection every once in a while and I have to turn off WIFI and select the router again. Since I am the only one having the problem people will say its my Mac, but I am not sure. Perhaps because I am living in a city with about 15 other WIFI networks around my be the problem as before I was living in a more isolated area with only a few WIFI networks.

Wifi problems seem to crop up a lot on here and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a 'one fix' solution.
However, sometimes any one of the following can help although, unfortunately, not always - in no particular order:
Check wifi security - if it's WEP change it to WPA or WPA2 (preferably, as it's more secure)
Change the wifi channel on the router
Create a new Network Location: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5289
    Reboot the router
Also take a look at this link and the links within the article for other ideas. They mainly reference Lion, but still seem to be relevant to Mountain Lion:
