Since i added osx mountain lion, my computer runs really slow, especially internet

Can I go back to what I had before (I think snow leopard?)?  This new software is making my computer run too slow.  I sometimes have to wait a full minute just to get online.  Sometimes, I have to turn the whole computer off and back on again to get online.  Can't stand it!

Ever since i downloaded OSX Mountain Lion, Express VPN no longer works properly for me. Even though it says I am connected, webpages refuse to load. However, connection speed is fine when its turned off. I cannot go on many websites without the VPN. My current location is Shanghai, China. OSX Mountain was installed this morning and everything worked fine until then. Is Express VPN not supported? What do i need to do in order to get it working again on my Macbook Pro (early 2011). I want to be able to go on websites such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, ect...

    Hi,
I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal.  I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8.  Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved.  Here is the steps sent to me
Try doing the following to see if the problem gets resolved:
Please follow the instructions here: https://www.expressvpn.org/support/setting_dns_servers_mac_os
(should still be the same for Lion) and then add the following DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 & 208.67.222.220. After adding the DNS servers, please do the following steps as well:
Note: If you're connecting to your ISP via a PPPoE connection, then set the DNS servers on the PPPoE connection itself and then restart your computer for the DNS settings to take effect.
    1. Click on Applications
    2. Click on Utilities
    3. Click on Terminal
    4. Type the following command (without the quotes): "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"
    5. Press enter and then try reconnecting to the VPN.
If you're still unable to connect, please send us in the latest log files.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

  • I am having problems with AOL since downloading new OSX Mountain Lion

Since downloading OSX Mountain Lion I can't access AOL Mail  -- has a line and a circle next to each e-mail.
    Any suggestions.

  • Ever since updating to OSX Mountain Lion, I can't access my FCPX files

When I went into FCPX after updating to OSX Mountain Lion, I was told I needed to update my FCP files or they wouldn't play. I clicked update and left it running all night (I have a lot of large files). The next day, after rebooting, I tried to access my files, but when I click on the "reel" symbol to load a project, the Apple wheel starts to spin endlessly. It goes on for hours, and finally I have to force quit the program. Everything appears to be there, but I can't bring anything up or work on projects. The second the program starts, the wheel starts spinning.

Office 2004 Applications Won't Work in Lion
You must have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

  • Cannot access hotmail and other sites since upgraded to osx mountain lion

Since I upgraded air to OS X Mountain Lion, I stoped accessing several websites such as hotmail (I can open first page but not after I login), and same for facebook, some bank accounts and even some sites that do not require passwords. Any tips? Many thanks from Brasil!

if i increase  the memory will the system become faster.
No.  Installing RAM doesn't make a computer faster.
Can we get it done this in Apple store
Sure, but why pay for that when you can do it yourself.
without upgrading hte memory cna we make this ystem to run faster ?
Have you checked activity monitor to see if any apps or processes are takin up a large percentage of the CPU?

  • Upgrade to OSX mountain lion will airplay run ok

    Hi,
My 2009 iMac with 10.6.8 with the latest updates on it. And will play airplay now OK, I have airport express and apple TV, just brought and installed. But will not connect to icloud so I can link all my apple products, so I am looking at paying for the upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion. Then I read about all the problems people have had doing this! What can I expect, and is it worth the cost and maybe troubles I may get with this upgrade?
Your help and advice will be greatfully received.
    Thanks Steve

  • Mountain lion not downloading --or really slow

Hi, Ordered the download last night. My Mac Pro is using Lion 10.7.4, and is fully updated ---but the mountain lion download appears to be stuck (...still downloading this morning). Please advise. Thanks.

Then the next question is what kind of access do you have, DSL, cable, FiOS, or something else?  The full ML download is almost 5 GB so young can have issues with a slow connection and a file that size...not knowing where you are, can you try an off-hours time for the US west coast?

  • Computer running really slow

still slow after running Disk Diet, dumping all my data onto an external hard drive and doing an OSX upgrade to Mountain Lion. Any ideas?

Crucial is likely the #1 brand recommended around here - I don't know of anyone that has ever had any problems with it. OWC is probably a close second, but it tends to be a bit pricier than Crucial. Third on the list is probably Corsair (that's what I have installed). But you simply can't go wrong with Cruical (I've one of their SSDs and will, hopefully, be purchasing another within the month!).
Use the System Scanner at the Crucial site (if you haven't already). And see if you can save a couple of buck by shopping for Crucial RAM on Amazon (here's the 16GB kit that would be right for your machine from Amazon, for example).
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • HT1338 Since updating to OSX Mountain Lion my Microsoft Word etc is not working. Why?

Help with getting Microsoft Software operating

If your screenname were CHEAPO instead of Cheppo, I would suggest that you purchase Snow Leopard Server for $19.99 from the Apple Store and install it into either Parallels or VMWare Fusion (retail = $79) and be able to continue to run your Microsoft Office 2004.

  • Since the download of the OSX Mountain Lion, my Epson beamer is no more working, what should I do?

Since the download of the OSX Mountain Lion, my Epson beamer is no more working, what should I do?

Plug the device into the computer and make sure it is turned on, then click the apple logo then software update, if some are available from epson install them.  If not contact epson at 800-533-3731  for the correct drivers needed for Mountain Lion

  • Will OSX Mountain Lion slow down my computer?

I have an iMac (about 2 years old) and was wondering if OSX Mountain Lion will slow down my computer.
    Computer Specs
    =================
Processor: 3.6 GHz Intel Core i5 (1 Processor with 2 cores)
    Memory 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    =================
I'm not sure what else could be useful, so tell if there is.
    Thank you

Sorry I wasn't sure which to click (Lion or MT Lion) since I was asking about Mountain Lion but had Lion...
    Anyway, Thanks

  • When installing mountain lion on my computer, why does it say "OSX Mountain Lion couldn't be installed, because the disk \ is damaged and can't be repaired."

I'm unable install mountain lion on my computer. Every time it says "OSX Mountain Lion couldn't be installed, because the disk \ is damaged and can't be repaired. Click restart to restart your computer and try installing again." So I press the only button listed as an option, it restarts, and the same screen comes up again. I can't make mountain lion go away...I've tried many times. What is wrong with my computer? It's stuck like this and I can't even get snow leopard back on there if I wanted to because I can't get away from the same screen. Please help : (

Insert your OS installer disk in the optical drive. Power the Mac down by holding down the power button. Then power back up and hold down the 'c' key so the MBP boots to the installer disk. From Disk Utility you should do a Repair Disk. If DU successfully repairs the disk quit the installer and reboot your Mac. You should update to 10.6.8 prior to upgrading to ML.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Then do your ML upgrade install.
