Since I downloaded os x10.8.2 I get a gray screen on my home page from time to time.Going to perferences to try to fix this small problem does not work . I have to restart my mac mini (mid July 2011)to temperly fix this. So I am looking for a permanent fix, any ideas ? Thanks.
Thanks for helping... unfortunately i get the same result when i use the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
I also forgot ot mention that I ran a hardware test and it said there was no trouble with my hardware. Still scratching my head about this

from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste (command-V) into the text box that opens, then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
I've seen an unconfirmed report that the "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you might need to remove it as well, if applicable.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again. -
When I open iphoto says I have 4500 pics I haven 't downloaded that many. When I looked I have pic of ebay home page facebook a lot of different web sites I've visited How do I stop this and why is this happening.
This happens when someone drags the HD or a system folder icon to the iPhoto Window by accident. Solution: restore from back up created before this occurred.

I have updated my Macbook pro to mavericks since yesturday it has been running none stop with a gray screen and the apple logo in the midle. Does anyone has incounedt that same of problem? Please help. Thank you in advance.
The startup disk may need repairing ...
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to repair the disk and restore OS X using OS X Recovery -
My Ipad screen is stuck on vertical since I downloaded and installed iOS5. I want to use it on horizontal for reading 2 pages at a time. I've toggled back and forth on the lock screen switch, but it still goes to vertical. Ugh. Please help!
To do so: Hold the home button and the sleep button at the same time (ignore slider) until the apple logo appears.

Films that I have downloaded from iTunes won't play. I just get a black screen. My computer crashed last week and I had to do a Total Recovery - Films played perfectly before this. I must have deleted a program or link.............. anyone know what could be missing? I can play YouTube videos etc. but nothing in the iTunes store - films or trailers won't work.
The movie is from iTunes. You would think that a download from iTunes to a MacBook could be watched on an HDTV using Apple TV without any headaches bit this does not appear to be the case.

I download a suggested "update" from the App Store for my iPhoto yesterday. Now when I try and open my iPhoto, I get a grey screen with the rotating circle icon in the middle......that just keeps rotating. Ergo, it won't open!!! Before the "download" all was fine in Heaven & Earth....now, I'm a little peeved.
Anyone have a suggestion?

ps Have a good day, God Bless America ...............and be weary of iPhoto update downloads,very weary.No need to be wary of iPhoto updates however it is a good idea to follow the instructions when updating. I haven't updated iPhoto from the App Store before however it should not be much different than doing a DVD update. Here are instructions on updating the library:

I downloaded Mountain Lion about a week or so ago. Ever since then I have constantlly been getting this very annyoing message saying:
"Your Mac OS X startup disk has no more space available for application memory"
And makes me force quit safari, mail, and anythin else I have open. If you guys are having the same issue please let me know. Also if you know any way to get rid of this stupid thing please help me!
Thank you!Your hard drive is too full. You need to delete some stuff. You should have at least around 10% of the total hard drive capacity free.

Since downloading the ios7 my phone will freeze or just randomly turn off or an app i'm working in will randomly close. Anyone else having these problems?
I would restore your device. Preferably with Itunes through a computer if you can. If not then settings>General>Reset>erase all content and settings. Save a backup if you need to through Icloud. That should clear up any software related issues.

Firefox will not open @ all I keep getting the message that my browser (Firefox) is offlineIf you have the problem with the ini file then you may have a problem with security software that is protecting ini files like application.ini and restores an old copy.

The normal google page works fine, but the search boxes on the home page (below firefox logo and the one top RH corner) just go nowhere unless you change the search provider using the dropdown, to yahoo or bing etc, in whcih case it searches fine - just won't work with google, which I prefer to use. I have an older version 3.6.13 on another desktop and that still works fine.
Any ideas team?golden-grace, to answer some of your questions:
* Firefox 3.6 is no longer supported and will no longer be updated for security vulnerabilities or any other updates.
*On resetting '''browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone''': It's normal for the "welcome to Firefox" tab to open and for that preference to revert back to user-set and show Firefox 14.0.1 afterwards.
*On deleting the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder and then resetting that preference again: You can open the Profile folder from the Firefox Help -> Troubleshooting Information page. See the [[Profiles]] article for more information.
* On installing new search engines from http://mycroft.mozdev.org that simply adds new search providers to the [[Search Bar|Search Bar]]. It does not install a new search bar. You will still have a single Search Bar and the "normal" Google will still be listed.
Getting back to Google not working from the about:home homepage or from the upper right corner search box, you said,

If you can go to www.google.com directly, and it works fine:
I would try removing Google from the list of search providers and then use the "Restore Defaults" button in the Search Bar "Manage Search Engine List" dialog to add it back to the list, then select it again as your default. The [[Search Bar|Search Bar]] article explains in detail how to do that. (Alternately, try the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Search Reset] add-on. This should also add back Google and set it as the default.)
If you try going to www.google.com but it never connects, that's a whole other issue. Putting that aside for now, if you would rather use google.co.uk from the Search Bar, you can install it <u>as an additional choice from the Search Bar drop-down menu</u>, by going here:

I tried to download a Cisco website application. The app did not download and it is stuck on the window where it has the option of open.....it will not open. The problem is that I cannot get the window off the screen and I can't get back to the App Store home page! Help! Thanks
Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -

Ever since I downloaded the iOS 6 update, my car stereo no longer works like it did before
My Pioneer car stereo worked exactly like it was supposed to with my iPhone 4s. By syncing to the car stereo, I could listen to all of my music on my iPhone and receive Pandora in the car. Since I downloaded the iOS 6 update two weeks ago, my car stereo has basically become inert, no longer syncs to my iPhone and has turned my expensive car stereo into a glorified CD player. I googled this problem first and noticed many other people had the exact same problem that I have. Since I can't undo the iOS 6 update (****, I wish I could), is there anyone out there with a similar problem and is there anything to remedy this problem. I will never download an Apple update again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the pioneer avh-3400bh. Prior to iOS6 on my iphone 4, everything worked as it should. Upon updating to ios6 on the 4, and now also with the iphone 5, my head unit will play BT audio, but it receives no track/data information. Using USB, I can no longer use my phone to browse songs, I can only use the head unit control. the phones tell me that an accessory is connected and won't allow me to do anything. Same for the pandora app -

Lion has nothing to do with Apple TV, the latter is running a version os IOS. Also, Netflix runs natively on the device. If you were having problems with Netflix on your computer that would be different.
Maybe some more detail? Have you tried rebooting the ATV?
