It seems you have a network conflict that isn't allowing your MacBook Pro to connect to the internet. This may be caused by both computers sharing identical network settings. You may want to consider creating a new network location on your MacBook Pro to assign new network settings. The following article will instruct you on how to do that:
OS X Yosemite: Add a network location
A network location is a group of network settings
A network location is a group of network settings for your various network services (Ethernet or Wi-Fi for example).
If you often change network settings, you may find switching between locations quicker and easier than repeatedly modifying individual groups of settings.
For example, you might want to make a location for “home,” where you connect to the Internet with a telephone modem, and a location for “office,” where you connect to your company network and the Internet using Ethernet or AirPort.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.
Click the Location pop-up menu, choose Edit Locations, then click Add .
Enter a name for the location, then click Done.
Enter settings for each network connection service you want to use in that location.
After you create your locations, you can switch all of your network settings by clicking the Location pop-up menu and choosing a different location.

My MacBook Pro will not connect to my home wifi but will connect everywhere else. My other Apple devices (I-pad, I-touch, another MacBook Pro) connect to the router without problems. It was working fine but all of a sudden stopped working.Thanks!
try this.
get back into your router's settings and start deleting devices that are not connected to your router.
you can also delete the ones that are connected - they'll connect again.
on the DHCP side of it, increase the amount of users that can connect/log in to your router.
see if that sorts it out for you.

In the past, I have just used my time capsule to back up my macbook pro. It connected wirelessly and everything worked great. I recently purchased a new router and now I cannot connect to the time capsule. Please help!
Is that other router the "main" one? If so, you'll have to configure the Time Capsule to "join" the network created by that router. The details of how to do that and whether it's possible may depend on the brand and model of that router, but I have no details on that.

Since the update to iTunes 11.0.4 my AppleTV can not connect to my library
Ever since the latest iTunes update my AppleTV gen 3 can not connect to the library on my laptop. It worked perfect until this update. I checked to see if there was an AppleTV update but it says there isn't one.
I checked that all are on the same network and Home Sharing is on and everything is signed in to the same iTunes account. All the settings are the same as they were before the update.

Apple plans to do nothing. I just spoke with Tech Support who told me that it has been my imagination that I have been using Home Sharing without having iTunes open on my computer. Further, that these issues are occuring and complaints about them are from other websites, he had no idea that Apple had these threads running on their website - idiot! I guess that the only way to Home Share is to have iTunes open on your computer at all times, even if you have everything in the cloud. He could not explain to me how every other device was able to Home Share without iTunes being open.
Apple is aware that these complaints are all over their site, however, they have no intention to resolve the problem and if you want someone to toy with you like you are an idiot you can purchase an extension of your Apple Care and allow them to frustrate you more. -
Yesterday firefox installed a new version on my Mac OS X. Now my Mac keeps freezing immediately upon trying to use the AOL site Games.com when I register as a guest. This usually happens during the first game of pinochle. Although I have used computers with technical proprietary programs at work for over 25 yrs, I am a neophyte with all this web stuff and I need help. When you received your printer you should have received two insulation disks one is for Windows computers and the other one is for Mac ( Apple Computer) If you have the disks please install Mac disk. Apple computers do search and down load the parcel software so you can do basic printing commands. You need to find the program that is some where in your computer that allows you to hook up Pinters and Devices. Ounce you find this open it up then connect the printer cable to the lap top. The computer program will list HP's printers yuo need to select your printers model number. Then it will down load the drivers for it to run basic commands. Ounce they are download run a test to make sure it is working right. Contact HP's store and asked them to send you a new set of insulation disk. Your old disk may have fine dust film on them. Clean them off pior to inserting them If you use glass cleaner and fine cloth make sure they are dry off before you insert them. If you used them before maybe a speck of dirt blocked out parcel program that caused it not to install correctly . frrw -
New MacBook Pro can't connect to D-link router
Hi everyone! I just upgraded from an early 2007 MacBook Pro to the latest 15" MacBook Pro with Core i7 chip. Did a full migration with the Migration Assistant. Everything went fine. Could connect effortlessly with my Airport Extreme Base Station at home. However at work, I use a D-link wireless router. And somehow, the computer refuses to connect to it!! I see my office network on the list when I click on the Airport icon in the menu bar but when I attempt to connect to it, I get a connection time out error. The office network is also in my Network pref pane under "Preferred Networks". But somehow, the computer refuses to connect to it. I've already tried turning the Airport off and on again. Re-starting the computer. Re-starting the router. Nothing works.
My old MacBook Pro was fine with the D-link router but this new computer seems to be rather cranky.
Does anyone have any ideas?Strange thing happened. Today the D-link router suddenly decided to work with my MacBook Pro!! I did not do anything or make any changes to any settings. Multiple re-starts yesterday failed to yield any results. And yet today it is working!! I have absolutely no idea why.
Perhaps the hardware is "shy" and needs multiple "introductions" before it wants to come out and play. Your guess is as good as mine. Anyway, as long as it works and stays working, I'm happy! -

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad or your router?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Even though you are connected to the Internet, sometimes resetting your router can help. It's very easy to do. Just unplug it for about 30 seconds, plug it back in and let it start up. -

I can't get a proper IP address from DHCP. Now I have to go wired.
But some other routers I can connect to.
is this the driver problem? is this a known issue?

My MacBook Pro does not connect wirelessly to new BT homeHub 5
I have been able to connect my iPad and iPhone to the new hub, but not my MacBook Pro. The wireless key password keeps being rejected as invalid, although it is correct. I have called both BT and Apple support and have tried options such as resetting the hub and restarting the laptop. The wireless connection is then sometimes picked up but drops after a few minutes. Has anyone else had this happen to them and can offer any suggestions?
I agree with your diagnosis, but if this only started to happen after you messed with chaning the WEP encryption to WPA2, then something wasn't done correctly. If you truly went in and deleted all the entries for the settings on the WIFI password from the keychain and then made sure your network settings are on Automatic and not personalized ones and then deleted all the network .plist preference files as I asked, then there's nothing left that could be causing this on the Mac short of a reconnection issue because it's WPS2/AES and 802.11n band with a specific radio in that WIFI router vs the radio that's on the Mac.
I've recently seen an issue that with some router chipsets, new iMacs had issues staying connected when the 2.4GHz band was set to n speeds. This doesn't happen on all routers, but it happened with this particular model. So, AS A TEST, you can try dropping the speed to b/g and see if the Mac automatically reconnects. If it does, then bump it back up to b/g/n and change the encryption to both WPA/WPA2 instead of just locking it at WPA2/AES. Then test again with a reboot/sleep/wake and see if it reconnects. If it does, finally put it back to just WPA2/AES and if it really is a bug, it'll stop auto-reconnecting at this point.
