Since I installed Firefox 5.0, when I open a new window my toolbars are not there. I also cannot open links in a new window.

With the old version, if I opened a new window, my homepage opened and all my toolbars were there. I don't want to have to open my toolbars every time I open a new window. Sometimes they won't open at all.

Hi tomab,
By default Firefox opens a blank tab when you hit the tab button. The fact that is shows an actual page leads me to believe that you have an add-on or something else causing your issue. I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
Hopefully this helps!

I am trying to install Firefox 4 on my Mac OS 10.5.8 and I get the error message "You cannot open the application "Firefox" because it is not supported on this architecture" Help!

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

    Where do these files reside?
    Is there a hidden Outbox??

If you think getting your web pages to appear OK in all the major browsers is tricky then dealing with email clients is way worse. There are so many of them.
If you want to bulk email yourself, there are apps for it and their templates will work in most cases...

This one will create the form, database and send out the emails...

The alternative is to use a marketing service if your business can justify the cost. Their templates are tested in all the common email clients...

I refreshed FF 36.0.4 on invite. Since then "save page as " and "save image as" are not working -- no response when clicked.

I tried troubleshooting plugins, none appeared to be causing the problem.
I installed 36.0.1, but no difference. Went back to 36.0.4, still no change.
I ran a malware check with Malwarebytes, no change.
A past thread here suggested deleting localstore.rdf, which I tried, no result.
People have had this problem in the past. No one has any idea of how to fix it?

  • When closing my Firefox window, all processes are not closing requiring me to open task manager and kill the process before using Firefox again. Received recent upgrade and hasn't worked right since then.

I open Firefox, use it, then close the window. Try to reopen Firefox and it fails with a message that a previous process is still running. Requires me to open Task Manager and kill the old process.

Try to wait a bit longer before reopening Firefox to give Firefox more time to close completely.<br />
Try to use "Firefox/File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.

  • Mouse hover doesn't show URL since I installed Firefox 4.0

Since I installed Firefox 4.0, when I hover the mouse over a link I don't see the URL anymore. All I see is a small empty white box under the pointer. I've tried uninstalling FF4, installing the older version, disabling hardware acceleration, and several other solutions I've found on this site, but nothing has worked so far. I don't have this problem with Internet Explorer, but I don't want to use IE. Any ideas? Thanks.

You should be able to see where a link is going to take you on the Status bar at the foot of the page.
If you want a permanent status bar, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/

I am downloading movies to my pc and that is not a problem, nor is the conversion to Apple TV but when I go into AppleTV the downloaded movies are not there...they seem to have disappeared into the ether somewhere. Any suggestions? Any and all gratefully accepted. Should add that this has not been a problem in the past.

  • Since I installed Firefox 3.6.3, every time I open Google Notifier, two Firefox browser windows open.

I am running Firefox 3.6.3 on my Mac G5 and my MacBook.
Since I installed Firefox 3.6.3, everytime I open Google Notifier, two Firefox browser windows open. This happens on both of my computers.
This never used to happen before, in the earlier versions.
How do I make it so that only one browser window opens?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I installed Firefox 3.6.3 ==
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10_4_11; en) AppleWebKit/531.22.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Safari/531.22.7

I got this all screwed up too.
    hmm.. where to start?
3.6 and 4.0 beta - really aren't intended to play well together.
As has been mentioned above, they tend to write over each other.
I managed to get both 3.6.15 and 4.0 beta 12 on the same machine.
But, I had to do it several times.
I got lucky by deleting everything Mozilla, then installing 4.0b12, then 3.6.15 - while making sure that each installed into a separate folder.
I also took care to copy out a couple of BookMark BackUp files - just in case.
My old 3.6# had become so bloated - and, Unstable - for Me, it was time.
The bookmarks were all that I was still interested in.
All the Plugins, Themes, AddOns, etc... had slowed the app to a crawl.
So, I did as complete a wipe of Mozilla bloat code that I could, including profiles.
I then did some registry cleaning.
    Then I installed 4.0b12 and 3.6.15.
I can't open them both at the same time.
If I open 3.6.15 first, then open 4.0b12 - the beta comes up as 3.6.15.
If I open 4.0b12 first, then open 3.6.15 - the 3.6 comes up as the beta.
This has a lot to do with both apps sharing the same default profile.
I hope to drop down to one app in the near future.
So, cobbling multiple profiles in order to diddle side by side apps - isn't worth it at this stage.
For me, I can't open FF 4.0b12 when my virus protection is running. PCTools doesn't like some thing about the way FF4.0 wants to phone home when it opens.
So, I can't commit to the 4.0b12, yet.
3.6.15 was crashing on open too - until I uninstalled the feedback addon. - go figure -.
Also, I can't get the 4.0b12 to start in safe-mode with the PCTools antivirus running.
At the rater they are going, I don't see 3.6.# going away any time soon.

  • Every since I installed firefox on my system my email has been compermised.

Every since I installed firefox on my system my email has been compermised I am sending out junk mail I changed the password and I am fine if I use IE to check my mail but as soon as I come back for Firefox I get hacked again any help or suggestions? I do have Kaspersky and I have scanned my computer and all is good on my computer.

Are you using Time Machine? If so, you should know that OS X Lion and newer Mac OS X versions make local snapshots on your hard drive. See > http://pondini.org/TM/30.html
It's easy to remove them by turning off Time Machine in System Preferences > Time Machine, but there's no need to do anything, as they will be deleted automatically when your hard drive gets full. Remember to turn on Time Machine again

After installing a new version of Firefox, I get the error message "The procedure entry point JS_GetOperationLimit could not be located in the dynamic link library js3250.dll" when I try to start firefox. Elsewhere in the forum a complete reinstall is suggested; however, I can't do that because of my company's IT policies. Is there any way to solve this problem WITHOUT a complete reinstall? Thank you!

If you can't reinstall Firefox yourself then you need to contact your IT department and ask them to check the Firefox installation.
It is possible that some files got broken with the latest update.

Personal google search settings don't save; remember me options on web sites like Facebook aren't remembered; Youtube and Flixy videos don't play despite removing/reinstalling/upgrading Firefox several times; upgraded the latest flash plugin today, but no difference, symptoms are black play box with youtube and white box with Flixy. • Windows Media Player plugin has stopped working since I installed Firefox 4. I have the newest version of the plugin, worked fine with the previous version of Firefox. Any ideas?

I have tried the suggestions on the help and troubleshooting pages including uninstalling and reinstalling plugins and Firefox 4. disabling the pop up blocker did not help either.

I have had the same problem since I installed Firefox 4.0.
Thank you for letting us know that The RealPlayer plugin conflict, was the source of this problem.
Another way to fix this (for good) is doing the following:
    1) Click on "Tools">Options"
    2) Click on the "Applications" tab
    3) Search in the "Content Type" column, all the applications that start with the words "Windows Media." Click on the content that is listed to the right of each application's name and choose "Use Windows Media Player (default)."
By doing this, Firefox will avoid using the Windows Media Player plugin and will open the corresponding application directly with Windows Media Player.
I just did this and is working perfectly. Try it and let me know how it works for you.

  • Safari won't open since I installed Firefox.

Safari won't open since I installed Firefox. I keep getting a window that asks me if I want to "Reopen" Safari in a large window that includes error messages, lots of them. I click on "Reopen" and a smaller window opens up with the same option to "Reopen", but Safari just goes back to the large window again; the one with all the error messages.

Quit the application. Force quit if necessary.
Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.
