Since I installed my XFI Xtreme Music

... my PC freezes almost every time, the PC runs, so that I must restart my PC. I don't know if the soundcard is guilty, but befor I built the Soundcard in, everything was ok. I have updated my BIOS, the XFI driver, my windows(to Service Pack 2) and I don't know what to do next. Does anyone knows this bug? sorry for my bad englisch, I come from Germany

You have a SB0467 which is a Dell oem X-Fi card. I do not believe it's "origional" or retail. I got mine on ebay brand new for $45. I knew what I was buying (my system is a Dell). The clue to not being retail is that there usually is no retail box, manual, software, etc. I got the card only. So in a nutshell: no support

XFi xtreme music PCI + HD 2900XT vista 64 drivers incompatib

I can get my HD 2900XT card working fine on its own.
I can get my XFi Xtreme music PCI card working on its own.
Installed together they cause constant lockups and crashes.
Which ever cards drivers I install second after a clean windows install takes many many hours. Very odd.
Disabling AVS unified stream- no effect
Disabling XFi driver with card installed improves stability slightly but still multiple crashes.
Any suggestions, bar snapping the sound card in two?

Creative XFI Xtreme Music & Nforce6 prob

I recently upgraded my computer system from a MSI Nforce4 motherboard and a AMD-FX 55 processor to a Intel Quad core Q6600, and a MSI Nforce 6 650i P6N SLI Plantinum (or is it premium? i can't remember) Motherboard. After this change i started to get random system crashes. After many many many days of trouble shooting and formatting, i narrowed down the problem to my Creative XFI Xtreme music sound card. When my system crashes, the system will freeze with all but some sound glitches (if playing anything with sound at the time). Only way out is to reboot. No errors in the event logs indicated to me what could have been the problem.
Even though i have updated all system drivers, Bios, formatted, even used the creative XFI Beta drivers the only thing that solves my system crashes is the removal of the xFI card itself from the system. (yes i have disabled onboard audio). So my question is, Does anyone have any experiences with the Generation XFI cards and a Nforce6 based motherboard that has had a issue like this? Or is it just a compatibility problem with the MSI P6N 650i SLI board itself? Could even be the card has gone bad, however these problems only started after changing hardware which leads me to beli've in a compatibility problem. Could it be the card needs a newer EPROM Chip?
Any users with the same issue or similiar?

. I was running WinXP Pro before, and currently Am still running WinXP Pro.
2. I Did as well change PCI Slots with the same end result of the system freezes/crash.
3. Toronto699, yes i have noticed the problem only goes away when the SOund card is removed, so at least i Now know i am not alone in this problem.
I figured that nforce 5/6 must be a issue, although i know there are many people out there that are running XFI cards on these chipsets, it does appear from all of the complaint posts through-out this forum that the latest drivers are not up to speed with all of the newer motherboards/chipsets out there. Esp since it Did work fine on my Nforce4 board (which i know there was a bug Even with the XFI and nforce4 chipsets early on tho i never had any), and only after i changed over did the problem start happening, which lead me to beli've in a incompatibility issue.
Even though i will probably never come accross a fix.. IF i do, i will be sure to post it.

LOUD HISS FROM XFI-XTREME MUSIC C

I have a Logitech 5500 speaker system and am getting a lot of hiss from the direct input from my sound card- XFI-Xtreme music. I have my cable box connected to the coax input and my DVD player hooked up to the optical input and they work fine but the sound card hisses very bad on the direct input. I have tried everything to corect this to no avail. Can anyone help me fix this PLEASE!!!!

Ok, lol. Is it a hiss or a hum? From your last post my first thought is a 60Hz hum, probably from a ground loop. Ground loops occur when one device is not getting a proper ground and is connecting to if through the analog cable to the other device. This extra noise is contaminating the true signal and thus gets amplified as a HUM.
But first, mute the inputs on the soundcard one at a time and see if it goes away, try not plugging your speakers into the same power strip as the computer (if used), and finally, make sure the outlet / computer is getting a proper ground.
If all else fails, then it is likely as I discussed above and you will want to look into a set of ground loop isolators or ferrite beads for your setup.

Hello ! I am heber from argentina! bs as! federal discrict! Hey guys! you are soo cool! you help me a lot of times! but now i have to write to you becausa i dont get a solid solution to my problem. I search and see that there are some users with the same problem but i dont see a solid answer. The things that i do to try the fix the problem was clean and unninstall the drivers and soft with tools like driver sweeper etc and install the last driver but the result is the same. The only thing i found like a temporal solution when the problem happend its do the the assignement in the panel thx. I want to ask you if there is a solution, a permanent one...plz! becausa i am going to the thx panel like 30 times per day!!! i am going crazy! For more details i copy and edit a message from a user that have the same problem that i , read it plz : Ever since installing the latest drivers, 2.5. or whatever they are, I have sound and 5. support now using an X-Fi Xtreme music with Vista 64 bit (2GB), The card just randomly swaps channels on me. What I mean is, if I start from a fresh boot, I'll get all 5 speakers working in a 5. movie or video game or mp3. Shortly after though, it will swap all the sound to only the back channels and then only teh front channels, and sometimes only the center channel. Most of times it does in pairs , meaning that it wont be like front left and back right, always both back speakers and then both front speakers. Either way, it totally breaks the surround sound and it's rather annoying to hear the sound travel from front to back etc. Is there some way to fix this or anyone know the cause of this I'm about done with Creative and their crappy support for Vista. I might have to go back to on board 5. support if this keeps up. Well if you need something else! please let me know! and if you give me a hand i will be very happy ^^ . Been having problems with sound since installing Win7 Pro 64 bit. I previously ran my system on XP Pro 32-bit. The sound just isn't the same as before. Since the original CD that came with the card is not compatible with Win7, I was forced to download and use the drivers on Creative's website.
Note that I am using the same EXACT settings I had back when running XP at 35% max volume.
Since Windows 7, I am forced to run at 20% max volume, yet music and in-game sounds sound distorted from time to time.
Could there be an explanation behind this?

XFI Xtreme Music prob

Ever since I installed the X-Fi Xtreme Music on my computer it likes to hang up occassionally when trying to open certain programs meaning that I will click on say Internet Explorer and it just sits there for 5-0 seconds before it opens. It did not do this before I installed the X-FI. Sometimes it will run games like Nascar Racing 2003 Season, sometimes it won't. I deleted all the drivers, software etc. for my old sound card and used Driver Cleaner Pro before I installed this card and the software. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I can verify I have the same exact problem and have as yet been unable to fix it. I just updated X-FI drivers. It seems to hang much worse after playing D3D or OpenGL games. During the gaming it usually runs perfectly.
I tried killing all of the (for lack of a better word) Garbage processes that Creative seems to think I want. This does absolutly nothing, save freeing a few megs of ram.
I do notice DLLML.exe constantly uses around 2 ticks on the cpu scale of task manager (with no sound playing). This seems odd, as even video drivers usually use around 0. I would check to see if it got stuck around 00 when the computer decides to lock up, but the screen tends not to re-draw during the "locking up" time.

Xfi-Xtreme Music Problems after updating dri

I recently updated my xtreme music sound card drivers from this website and since my music quality has not been the same. With my headphones off music seems sound poor and while watching movies the sound fades out to the point i cant even hear it. The only way i can fix this is by moving the graphic equalizer to the left or right and then i can hear it again. I also dont seem to get any sound out of my centre speaker but i do with the other 4 around my room. Ive tried reinstalling the new drivers and even the old ones and nothing works. Ive alo tried doing the clean boot and driver uninstallation but i get stuck at the point where i hide all microsoft services and click disable all. For some reason i cant click disable all when microsoft services is clicked. Ive run out of idea's. Any help would bhe appreciated.

You need a cable that meets the HD audio spec. AC97 is not correct for that card. I've heard of some damage actually being done to some cards by using AC97 on a HD audio header connection. I've also never heard of a case front panel assembly not having the cable as part of it.

i have looked everywhere for the THX console. i noticed on a webpage its next to the speaker selection.. not on mine..
it has the thx logo aswell as 2 others on the front of the control panel?

USB XFI 5.1 sounds much worse than XFI Xtreme Music

why does the XFI 5. Surround USB sound so much worse than the internal XFI cards like the Xtreme Music? The USB version sounds really cheap despite using the same settings. I don?t think its broken, I also tried it on 2 different pcs with the same bad result. it sounds like some cheap onboard sound.

XFi Xtreme Music Audio is crackly when running Camfrog (Vista drive

My?Winamp and someitmes WMP audio is crackly when I run Camfrog (webchat software). It's fine when I don't run Camfrog. I've checked my settings, system resources, drivers, nothing's helped. I'm running verion 5.33. My other system specs are:
Dell Dual Core 2.8 GHz CPU
2 Gb RAM
Sound Blaster XFi Etxreme Music (with latest Vista drivers)
Windows Vista Home Premium (fully updated)
Could this be because Winamp is not fully Vista compatible? Is it a problem with the XFi Vista Driver? Any help would be appreciated, and thanks. XTrail

I have the same Problem under Vista64, under Vista32 i didn't have the cracking sound at all.
Somewhere in this Forum there is a Thread, who says it has to do with the 4Gig Ram other Thread says it has to do with the driver them self.
I just found a workaround to avoid the cracking in going to the Hardware Manager inside Vista and disable the sound card, then enable it again and change the Sound Quality setting in your Playback device to 24bit or 6bit, a change is necessary then hit the Test button if it crack start from the beginning again till it doesn't crack anymore.
I know this solution is really a bad one but it works. Most of the time x disable and enabling will solve it but sometimes i have to do it twice.
If anyone has a better solution or workaround pls post it!

Hy! I have a problem with my soundcard:sometimes when I turn on the computer,I'm getting a crackling noise wherever I'm playing:music,movies,games,anything that has sound. No Creative services running in the background except opening Creative applications, which will launch "CTFISPI.exe". But as soon as I close those applications, "CTFISPI.exe" will disappear again.
