Since I updated to Mac OS x 10.6.8, I am unable to burn a CD on iTunes

Updated my Macbook to Snow Leopard a few months ago because it stopped getting all updates (thanks Apple). Since I've updated, my iTunes is currently on version 11.1.5 and it will no longer burn CDs. The CD loads and initialises the burning process but stops before anything is transferred. I've tried lowering the speed to 1x and every other speed above that and I'm still having the same problem. Please help!

My Macbook Pro has a black screen when running in Bootcamp Windows 7. Since I updated the mac side my windows side now starts up with completely black screen - no prompt, nothing, Cap keys still light up as does mouse and DVD drive seems to run.
Will not show up in safe mode, will not show when started from Windows 7 DVD.
I suspect the Mac update wiped out my PC video drivers but can not think of a way to re-install?
Can see the PC volume from Mac side with files.
I've looked at all the online solutions so far and have tried most of them without success. Please help!

    EDIT: RESOLVED
For anyone else who finds their way here like I did, this link did it for me: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/527599/windows-8-issues-solved-please-r ead-if-you-39-re-having-black-screen-and-or-flickering-/
Specifically, the posts by Dunsany and valkyr did the trick.  I booted in safe mode, uninstalled and deleted the Nvidia driver, disabled automatic driver installation, and restarted normally.  I then manually downloaded and installed the previous Nvidia driver for my graphics card (which at the time of this writing was 335.23, rather than the latest which was 337.88), and everything is now bueno!
Two hiccoughs along the way: First, when I tried to uninstall the Nvidia driver the first time, when I restarted I got the login screen (which was a good sign), but it quickly went black again.  I powered down, restarted in safe mode again, and repeated the uninstallation process, and it worked the second time.  Second, when I started the manual install of the 335.23 driver, the computer played a sound similar to the one for disconnecting a USB device, and the screen went black.  I'd seen a lot about trying to increase the brightness (though it hadn't worked up to this point; but if you haven't tried it yet, might as well); I tried it, and it worked! So far I'm back up and running. [/fingers crossed]
    Hope this helps someone else!

my iphoto wont open since i updated my mac, please help? it says i need to install an iphoto library upgrader which I have installed but still cant see my photos.

What version of iPhoto are you using? 9.6 is the current version.
    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Ever since I updated my Mac to Maverick it has become exceedingly slow everywhere. Also annoying, when I go into Applications to open something, it now automatically opens 3 things I don't need. What can I do to fix this?

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • I am having trouble watching livestream since I updated to mac os Lion, anyone else?

Ever since I updated to mac os lion, two live streams I used to watch don't work anymore (eurosportplayer.nl and nos.nl)!
I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and how to solve it.
As far as I know safari execpts cookies and I've reset safari and deleted all history, I've tried privatebrowsing. They just won't start playing...
please help out if you know what to do or also had this problem.
    tnx

I think there was a problem with silverlight. When I deleted the version I had and installed the latest version, I was ably to view things livestream again...

  • Since I updated my Mac to OS Yosemite, the scanner on my MX920 no longer works. I just get a questio

Since I updated my Mac to OS Yosemite, the scanner on my MX920 no longer works. I just get a question mark in My Image Garden. It was working fine before the upgrade.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi lalyc,
Reinstalling the printer using the latest drivers from the Canon USA website should get the scanner up and running.
Please click here to go to the Drivers and Software page for the PIXMA MX922.  Once on the initial download page for your model, please do the following:
    1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.
    2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "RECOMMENDED FOR YOU" section and click on the CUPS driver file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click on the checkbox below the DOWNLOAD button, then click the red DOWNLOAD button to begin the download. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.
Once you have downloaded and installed the CUPS driver file from the website, please also install all other items from the RECOMMENDED FOR YOU and DRIVERS section of the website.  To install the rest of the software that comes with the printer, please follow the steps above, except for in step 2 you will want to click on the red arrow next to the "SOFTWARE" section instead of the RECOMMENDED FOR YOU section to locate and download the software.
Once all items have been downloaded, please double-click on each of the items on your Mac to install them. If you plan on using the printer wirelessly, please be sure to install the Canon IJ Network Tool last after all other software has been installed; it should be the very last item installed.  Once all items have been installed, please restart your Mac and attempt to scan.
    Hope this helps!

  • Mail issues since manually updating to Mac OS X 10.5.5

Many email issues have popped up since I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.5.5.... could I have some help please?
I have a gmail IMAP account in Mail, and a POP account.
my most recent incoming emails are not showing up in Mac Mail but they are on the web at gmail.
the little circle is constantly turning next to my gmail Inbox and no new mail is showing up.
Sent messages are not showing up in Mac Mail.
I sent two tests msgs to myself from Mac Mail --one shows up only on web gmail, not in Mac Mail Sent or Inbox. The other is slowly sending according to Mac Mail and has showed up in web gmail.
I'm sure there is other important info I'm leaving out.

    Gayle,
I thought I wrote a response that now I do not find. In it I said that in my setup for my Gmail IMAP, "Use IDLE" is not checked, and Compact mailboxes automatically is checked but gray.
Nevertheless, with a Gmail account you should be able to remove the account, and then add it back without losing anything that is stored on the Gmail server. You would do this in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account Information, where you would highlight the Gmail IMAP account on the left, and then click the minus sign beneath that column. Then when you add, by clicking on the + sign, you again set it up as IMAP.
For double safety, you can use the Finder to open Home/Library, locate the Mail folder and Duplicate it, and then drag the resulting copy to the Desktop for temporary backup.

  • Has anyone experienced a problem with the adjustment brush since last update (for Mac) last week?

Following an update to Lightroom on my Mac Pro work station last Friday: when I apply my adjustment brush to an area in an image, a faint box encompassing a much larger area than the size of my brush appears (extends well beyond the area I've identified with my brush and is clearly a large square shape). When I release my mouse, the adjustment I've made affects my entire image. I had no issues with adjustment brush prior to the update. I've been on the phone with Adobe support (no help). Have uninstalled/reinstalled Lightroom several times (no help). Adobe directed me to Apple (recommend use of Time Machine to date before Lightroom update came through). To ensure it's an isolated bug, I checked my MacBook Pro. Worked fine without update; I let update come through and find the adjustment brush "bug" is intermittent. When it occurs, however, I always see the larger "box" area, and the adjustment brush ultimately affects my entire image.
Anyone else experiencing this? Adobe support insists it's a Mac issue. Thanks!

Same problem (rectangular areas) + others under Windows. The adjustment brush and the clone / heal tool have been totally broken in LR 3.2. You're not alone. See this thread. I have filed a bug report. No answer until now.

I have updated my 13" MacBook Pro OS to Yosemite 10.10.3 two days ago. I immediately noticed the start up is slower than the previous version. It gives me a black screen for sometime in the beginning and then comes the apple logo. Is this a common issue?

  • I cannot scan after updating to MAC OS X 10.10.2 (Yosemite)

    Hi,
I have read lots os posts on the forum and tried all of them, unfortunately without success so far.
I am no t able to scan anymore since I updated to MAC OS X 10.10. The scanner is not recognized, only the printer and fax.
I have used the latest version of the HP Printer Software through the App Store/Update. After that I remove the printer through System Preferences/Printers and Scanner; reboot the computer, and added the printer again; however, only printing or Fax options are shown.
Please give me some magic trick so I can use my scanner.
    Thank you
    Carlos.

    Hi Carlos,
Unfortunately it looks like that printer is no longer supported for scanning with Mac, but you might still have some options to scan without the printer software, see this thread:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-Printing-and-Scanning/HP-Color-LaserJet-CM2320nf/td-p/3688882
Look at ShlomiL's reply, there's a link there for VueScan that might work. Also, you should be able to scan from Apple Preview, here's a short video explaining how to do that. You still get a lot of features even though it's not the printer software.
