Since I upgraded my operating system my iPad won't connect to iPhone hotspot

Hi,
I have recently purchased an iPad to work alongside my iPhone 4S and found the "hotspot" feature really useful
However I know find that it doesn't work.
I turn on the iPhone hotspot and the iPad, sees it as a Network which tries to connect to but never makes it. The circular wheel just keeps going round and round.
The iPhone says "Personal Hotspot 1 connection ", but I can't get onto the internet with the iPad.
The only thing that has changed is I have recently upgraded the operating systems on both items
Is that just a co-incidence?
What has gone wrong?
Thanks
Kevin

Workaround: drag the images from the email to the iPhoto icon on the dock.

Ever since I updated the operating system, itune doesn't play music on iphone 4. If it plays, it plays only one song and gets stuck. I've tried to reconnect to the computer to see whethere there has been missing portion during the upgrade... but not really. does anyone have the same issue?

    What does "gets stuck" mean?
    It repeats?
    It stops playing?
Have you tried the basics from the manual?  Restart.  Reset.  Restore.

HI, I recently upgraded my operating system IOS 5.0.1 on an iphone 3gs. My question is, how do I get the text messaging preview to just pop up so that I can see the name only when the lock screen is on? The conventional ways of doing this, such as using turning off the SMS preview under the "passcode lock", well that option no longer exists, or if it does, I'm somehow missing it.
When I go to the "messages" setting under settings on my phone, I still don't see an option of turning it off.
If I can just get the name of the person sending the message, as I had it before, I'd be happy.
    Help!

That option still exists in Settings > Notifications > Messages > Show Prview (OFF) and View in Lock Screen (ON). Here's how to configure your Notifications and Notification Center for iOS 5: http://iphone-and-i.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-customize-notification-center-in .html

  • Since I upgraded to OS 6 my ipad will not connect to my WiFi

Since I upgraded to OS 6 my ipad will not connect to my WiFi unless I am right next to it.  if i walk more than three feet away it looses connection. I have tried the brightness, resetting the network settings, changing the channel on my router...help.  I have century link in Phoenix arizona.  modem/router is a
ZyXEL - PK5000Z.  It seems to work ok on my work wifi.
My iphone and netbook work perfectly with it.  I do have an upgrade to the software on my iphone, but I fear that will loose wifi as well.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Now operating system for iPad won't let me post photos in Facebook. The sent and upgrade to fix bugs but it freezes in my settings and won't launch

bug in new operating system for iPad
fix stalls and freezes in Settings

You are not speaking to Apple here. We are all users like yourself. we cannot "fix" anything. Please describe which Settings area you are having problems with, what exactly happens and what, if any, error messages you receive.
one thing that cures ,any system errors is to reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

  • New iPad won't connect to Mobile Hotspot using WPA or WPA2

I have a new iPad running iOS 6.01.  It connects to wifi networks perfectly.  I also own a Blackberry 9790 that is capable of running a wifi hotspot.  When I try to connect my iPad to the mobile hotspot when WPA or WPA2 Encryption is used the iPad cannot connect.  If I change the Encrypstion to WEP I am able to connect the iPad and wifi works on it.
Is there a reason the new iPad won't connect to a mobile hotspot that's using WPA/WPA2?  Is there a way to resolve this issue?
I am able to connect my MacBook Pro to the mobile hotspot using WPA/WPA2 so I know that it's not my phone or the hotspot not working properly.
    Thanks

It appears as though I fixed my own problem...I hadn't yet tried restarting my blackberry or my iPad since I had been trying to setup the mobile hotspot and connect the iPad.  Anyways, I restarted both devices and then tried connecting using WPA/WPA2 and it worked.
iPad is now connecting to my mobile hotspot using WPA/WPA2 with no problems.
Maybe try doing the same if you haven't.

  • New operating system on ipad won't play video

previous store video will not play on new operating system just downloaded 11/19/2013.  Opens like it will play then nothing

I know my original post is long, so I'll put a few of the key points in Bold here.
Neither Video nor Audio will play in any app, even files I know work normally.
Both local files and streaming content are affected.
Restarting fixes the symptoms (temporarily) and allows me to play whatever media I want.
    The problem is very infrequent.
The problem has both times first appeared while in Nightstand app, but I'm not sure that is the cause.
With such an infrequent problem, I hesitate to reinstall everything and see if that works.  I am hoping I can manually generate an error report or mini-dump next time it happens.
Sorry for being passive aggressive here.

  • IPad won't connect to personal hotspot

I have an iPhone 4S that I use as a personal hotspot for my iPad when I'm away from home. My bf has an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1 that will automatically connect to my personal hotspot without me having to do anything with my 4S. My iPad however requires that I unlock my 4S, go to the personal hotspot settings page and then it'll connect. I'm trying to figure out why the iPhone 4 connects to the personal hotspot automatically when the iPad won't. Both connect via wifi. Bluetooth is too slow with the personal hotspot, so I just don't use it.

I was having the same issue. I starting searching and found a few people who suggested turning up the brightness on your iPad. I thought what in the world would that have to do with connection to my hotspot but I tried I and it worked. My brightness was set to about 50% and I uped it to around 75% and it worked. Try it anyway. Hope it will work for you as well .........

  • Ipad won't connect to cell hotspot

My iPad 2 connected to my htc network hotspot from my cellphone wonderfully for 4 months, but will no longer even recognize that the network is available.  The network is continuing to be noticed and usable by my laptop.  Any advice?

    Mborr-
If you can unplug power from the hotspot, do it for a few seconds.  Then reset the iPad's network.  Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings.  You will need to reconnect to WiFi.

I just purchased "Unbroken". It won't open in iBooks on my iPad. Earlier today I upgraded my operating system. Is that the problem?  How do I fix it?

Try deleting it and downloading it again.
Any problem with any other book?
If only with that one, use the Report a Problem link on your receipt and ask for a refund.

As long as you don't need all the bells and whistles of the iTunes Store such as Ping, and don't need to sync an iOS device running iOS 4.x, then iTunes 9.2.1 should work for you. It should be available via Software Update, but if not, you can still get it here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1056
but it would be best to upgrade your Mac to Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6, since it's probable that eventually the iTunes Store will no longer support iTunes 9.x.
    Regards.
P.S. Mac OS X 10.4 was discontinued three and a half years ago, so yes, it's getting rather long in the tooth. Cheers.

  • Updation of operating system in Ipad

In India Ipad is not yet launched, however i have an opportunity to get it from one of my friend here in Mumbai. if i get from him,can i register this device with apple, and also whether i can buy extended warranty online. i don't have bill details for this purchase.
also please advise can i upgrade the operating system time to time?
    rgds/vipul

    Yes, you can register online.
The extended warranty can be purchased online provided it is offered in India's online Apple Store. I'm not sure otherwise. You can buy the extended warranty any time within the normal one year warranty so you don't have to purchase it right away.
Of course the iPad you are getting from your friend must not be stolen.

  • I have an imac 4.1 with 2g of ram and is currently running 10.5.8 operating system, How high can I upgrade the operating system?

I have a 2006 intel imac 4.1 with 2g of ram. I am currently running 10.5.8 and wish to upgrade the operating system. How high can I go as I would like to link it up with my newer imac, iphone and ipad...please advise and 10.5.8 is not cutting it.

You can run up to 10.6.8 on that particular model. That OS version is still available:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
10.6.8 will run on 2GB RAM, the max for that model.
