Try restarting with your drive plugged in. I have a very old 100GB seagate drive and it has been working fine for me so I assume yours would too.

a couple of notes - nothing happened to your photos - something happened to the display of them which you easily fixed
Neither adobe PSE not iPhoto store your photos - your photos are stored on a disk drive and the finder indexes them - no matter what management program you use your photos are stored the same and the same software is used to keep track of where the file is that holds the photo
The only protection for your files (including your photos) is a good backup - I do three - this is true no matter what photos manager you use
I have not looked at PSE recently (I have PSE 6) but I do not believe it has nearly as strong a photo managent system as iPhoto, does not maintain the original as iPhoto does, does not have lossless editing as iPhoto does and it has no integration into other software on the Mac or to iCloud or PhotoStream

I recently updated to Yosemite 10.10.1. Since I updated I can no longer upload photos to eBay, Shutterfly, Craigslist by selecting "events". It is no longer an option.
All my photos come up as one entire library. When I view them in iPhoto they are divided into events, however once I go to upload them the entire library appears without any defining options, such as "events", recent imports, etc. I thought at first this might be an issue with eBay, but realized it wasn't when I tried to list on Craigslist. This is a nuisance and time consuming process. Does anyone know if there is a fix in the future or if I am just missing some quick fix?I would like to add that Comcast is my internet provider. Perhaps that is part of the issue although the Connection Doctor confirms the mail box is connecting to the internet. No other function processes when Connection Doctor program is used to find the source of the issue. I have read forum posts but am unable to find a way to get my Apple mail to be delivered to my computer. It worked fine up until I chose to transfer mail to the Cloud. My mail account is a .mac account.
Still hoping someone out there can help me.

Ever since I upgraded to Lion I can't open Pages. Help?
First off, yes, I do have the latest version of iWork.
What happens is that when I click on Pages, the application loads, however I can't actually open any document or create a new one.

When you have used the CD version of iWork you have to do the Software Update check to get the latest version.
It might be wise to uninstall iWork first with Yvans script.
To uninstall correctly iWork, go to Yvans iDisk :

I've now installed the ad blocker, thrown away the unwanted files, and thrown away a copy of Firefox that Adware said had a problematic extension.
Things are better, but still slow.
Activity Monitor shows that with just Mail, Chrome and Excel running, 2.9GB of my 4GB RAM is used. Opening InDesign (always slow) increase that to 3.2GB. But the graph stays green.
Console shows several potential problems but I don't know if any are significant. In any case I will call my Mac store tomorrow to ask their advice about RAM.

Why can't I download Adobe Flash player since I upgraded to Yosemite?..
I have not been able to download Adobe flash player since I upgraded to Yosemite on my 13 in MacBook Pro purchased in Early 2011 Processor 2.3 GHz i5 Please Help!!
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and except as stated in this comment, I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button. The uninstaller might also be accessed by clicking the Customize button, if there is one.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to restart the computer in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, there may be no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software. -
Since i upgraded to Yosemite, when importing photos to iPhoto, they no longer appear in the 'events' summary in library. Why is this and how can i amend?
The events may be incorrectly sorted. Try to sort the events by date, while in "Events" view.
Go to the "View" menu: Sort Photos > By Date > Descending. That should bring the most recent events to the top of the list. -
I am running a 7 year old MacBook Pro 15. Since upgrading to Yosemite I can not run my airport express' without having to reset each of them every time I wish to use them. I did not have this problem with Mavericks OSX. Does anyone know what the problem is and is there a fix?

Since upgrading to Yosemite I can't upgrade I Photo.
Since upgrading to Yosemite I can't upgrade IPhoto. It gives me this error "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
Do SMC and PRAM reset and see what happens. Is your CD drive connected directly to the Mini? Perhaps it needs cleaning.

I can't move my incoming mail messages on my desktop into my mailboxes ever since i upgraded to Yosemite. It keeps defaulting to the old arrangement. My email account runs on IMAP.
Hello using the settings from my email provider (Virgin Media), I set up my email account on my Mac. The problem arises trying to move the emails from the Inbox to the various mailboxes I set up. All this is occurring within Apple's Mail app, not the Desktop.
Could it be anything to do with the IMAP-enabled synching between my email account on my computer and on Virgin Media's servers where my actions on my computer are not being communicated to the server? I am not an expert and only guessing here! Thanks for pitching in. -
Since I upgraded to Yosemite, my CS5 does not work correctly.
Since I upgraded to Yosemite in October, my photoshop CS5 does not work correctly. When right clicking to change a brush size, the adjuster when moving to the right or left, either sticks or moves radically. As I set the size of the brush and move my cursor back to the image, the adjuster moves with the cursor.
