Since I've updated to iOS5, my first-gen iPad has trouble with Safari. It crashes frequently, while I'm on many different sites. Any ideas? Thanks.
I recently updated my re-manufactured first-gen iPad to iOS 5.0.1, and it's having trouble running safari. It crashes many times while I'm using Safari. . This didn't happen until I updated to iOS 5 and 5.0.1. Anyone else having this problem?

How about this for irony .... As I was typing my response to you, Safari crashed on me for the 5th time today! Yes the issues has been reported many times on this discussion site.
These are the basic recommended fixes. Start with the reset Safari tip - the last one listed. Good luck!
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by e tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus (-) sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

You maybe running low on memory since you are using the original iPad with iOS 5.1.1 and the iPad is crashing. This may help and it certainly won't hurt.
Quit all apps completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. SInce getting the new updates I am unable to move and scale a picture when I am trying to assign it as wallpaper or as a contact. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?
It's a known issue. You do have more control if you go into the photos app, resize etc and then send it to your wallpaper. It wont' be perfect, but better.

Opon further expirimentation, I've discovered that the facelets view handler can not handle the <%@ taglib > declaration, returning me an
com.sun.facelets.FaceletException: Error Parsing /mapviewer.jsp: Error Traced[line: 3] <Line 3, Column 2>: XML-20201: (Fatal Error) Expected name intead of %.
With the facelets handler off, the non-xml facelet declaration is handled fine, but is no help.
Which means I'm bound to use the xml style for facelets, which means I'm going to have to catch the inserted javascript in some manner.
In any case, the original question in this topic is not the problem anymore, so I closed it here and awarded 5 points for a helpful answer.

Ok, so mybrother who has Down Syndrome threw myfirst gen iPad, and now it has a thick line about 2/3 of the way down.it never goes away. How to fix it,or how much would it cost to replace?
I don't think this is going to do the trick, because the iPad hardware has probably been damaged - but did you try rebooting the iPad?

First gen iPad having problems after iOS5 update
I have recently upgraded my first gen iPad to iOS5 (and subsequent update) and have had nothing but issues, sometimes to the point of making my iPad unusable with apps that take ten seconds to update (talking about even apple apps so it is not a third party issue), the system freezing up and not responding for well over ten seconds (example of this is while typing), and Safari crashing almost at least once an hour. I have rebooted the system numerous times and these issues have continued. I used to expect problems like this from Windows system, now it looks like I can expect the same from my Apple products as well.
Anyone else having issues like this?Same problems here. Also browser issues, Safari (the worst), Atomic and Opera. Have tried every cache clearing and reset suggestion I can find. IOS 5 has been a royal pain. 5.01 didn't help anything here.

Since updating to iOS 6, my 4th gen iPod touch, and my 3rd gen iPad has sound in and out. Sometimes it's on, and then all of a sudden, no sound. I've tried everything from restarting to fully resetting each one starting fresh, but nothing. Please help.
I have exactly the same problem. I have tried almost everything and I am nowhere near an Apple shop as I am working in Africa.

Will the first gen ipad support display mirroring via airplay when IOS5 is released?
From what I have read, IOS5 will support display mirroring on the ipad 2.. Is this likely to be added to the first gen ipad ? If so then great, but if not, why not? Im sure if you can wirelessly stream music and movies to an Apple TV device (connected via wifi) from the ipad one, then surely you must be able to use display mirroring ?

Has anyone else been having trouble with safari ever since the update? I have restarted several times, it still doesn't work.

After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an error with Safari. You may want to consider resetting your device, which is different from restarting. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Have a first gen iPad with 4.3 IOS. Can't download version 5.1 because iTunes 11.1 need to be downloaded. Cannot download version of iTunes. " errors occured while installing updates. if the problem persists choose tools>download only and try installing manually". This is as far as I can get. Can't find tools to manually download. When I try to reset to factory settings, I get an error also.
Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

I already tried rebooting, and I tried hooking it up to itunes as well, no luck there either.Try to reset all settings.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings. It won't delete your data.

Hi all, Since I updated to Mavericks I am having trouble with Safari showing all the buttons/clickable options, but they are gray and will not work. Specifically, the Trash Can/Delete and the "Move to" folder button simply do not work. Any ideas?
