Since installing CS6, jpg thumbnails viewed in Bridge lack color depth and contrast. When opened in Photoshop, the color and depth is normal. How can I correct the issue in Bridge? I have emptied my Cache and that has not corrected thed issue. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Unless using embedded thumbs, you need to set your ACR defaults, and make uncheck auto settings in preferences/camera raw.

  • Can't open EPS files in Illustrator CS3 since installing CS6

I'm on Windows 7, and need to be able to open .eps files with Illustrator CS3. Since installing CS6 yesterday I'm no longer able to associate EPS files with Illustrator CS3. When I right click an eps and go to "open with", only Illustrator CS6 is listed. When I "choose default program", only Illustrator CS6 is listed. If I "browse" and manually select the Illustrator CS3 executable, it still defaults to CS6. Using the same process with .ai files works fine, there is no issue. However these .eps files are not behaving like .ai files. If anyone could suggest a solution to my problem I would be very grateful.
    EDIT:
Also, attempting to set the default program through the "set associations" control panel doesn't work, after selecting the Illustator CS3 executable it still shows up as CS6.

Some research solved my issue. Need to create a registry entry for Illustrator CS3 (v13) in the eps file extension section of the windows 7 registry.
    1. Navigate to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.eps\OpenWit hProgids
    2. Create a new "binary value" key called "Adobe.Illustrator.13" (leave the value blank).
That's it. CS3 is now a valid choice for eps files. Hope this helps anyone who has the same issue.

    Hi there
    Thank you for your reply.
When I click on the link for the cleaner however, before I can download the

    Thanks for that information!
I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?!

Since installing Premiere Pro CC 2014 upgrade, Mac Pro jumpy video and freezes constantly. Worked perfectly before. Anyone else finding these issues? I'm running a quad core Mac Pro, so it's definitely not the hardware.

I've maxed out the memory assignment, but this isn't a memory problem per se.
It looks like certain Premiere Pro conditions are associated with a huge increase in kernel_task memory, zeroing out any available free memory.  In my case it seems to be associated with effects applied to titles or jpgs  or imported psd (Photoshop) files.
Program restart pulls kernel memory back to the 1.3gb normal size.

  • Illustrator CS4 won't open any files since installing CS6

Every since I installed CS6, whenever I try to open files in Illustrator (all files, not just the new downsaved from CS6 files), the program goes into "Not Responding" and I can't do anything until I crash out. It also will not let me create new files.
I've tried deleting my Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder as I saw suggested in another discussion, but it did not help.
Since my CS6 trial is ending soon and I'm not sure about upgrading yet, I really need my CS4 to be functional.
I'm running WIndows Vista 64 bit. Never had any problems with Illustrator before this.
    Any suggestions?

Ok, so I uninstalled Illustrator CS4, ran the CS Cleaner Tool, which messed up all my other CS4 programs, reinstalled the whole CS4 Suite, and Illustrator CS4 STILL won't open files (or allow me to create new ones). I only have two days left on my CS6 trial and I'm not sure if I'm upgrading right away, so I really need to figure out a way to make my AI CS4 work soon!

  • Since installing mavericks, I cannot view pdf's in preview...

Since installing Mavericks, I am unable to view pdf's that I download using Preview. I receive the following prompt:
The file “Contract & Payment Express” couldn’t be opened because you don’t have permission to view it. To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info.
When I go to the finder to do that, however, there do not seem to be any permission issues. Please help - I don't mind using adobe reader, but I do not like not being able to solve why something is not working when it was prior to the update. Thanks

  • Since installing Webroot Security, Firefox regularly crashes - are others experiencing this, and does anyone have any ideas to stop except binning Webroot.

I have used Mozilla for longer than INternet Explorer and think it's great. However, since installing Webroot Security Firefox has routinely started crashing. Not always in the same place or with certain sites, but randomly. I emailed Webroot who said it's not a problem they have encountered, but they issue reguar updates - blah blah.
I usually use Norton which is fine, but we have so many PCs / Laptops at home it made sense to buy a bigger licence product.

Thank you thefourthbrother for providing the Firefox crash reports. After reviewing them this is indeed the result of a known Firefox bug which the Webroot Secure Browsing functionality is triggering but not the cause of:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=542040
Since there is currently no timeline provided by Mozilla as to when this bug will be addressed, Webroot is currently working on an alternate method to protect Firefox users which should eliminate the possibility of triggering this Firefox bug, and will provide this new functionality in an upcoming release.
In the interim those that encounter regular Firefox crashes with the Webroot Secure Browsing functionality enabled, and would prefer not to have this added malware protection for the time being, may disable the Webroot Secure Browsing feature in Firefox by going to Tools > Add-ons > and click the "Disable" button on the "Webroot malicious URL Filtering" extension.
An update to this post will be provided by Webroot when the new functionality Webroot is currently working on to prevent the possibility of such Firefox crashes going forward is deployed.

  • Protected View Error "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened"

    All
I have a problem with Protected View in Office 2010 on Windows 7.
Symptom:  When downloading a file from the Internet, the file will not open if launched directly from the source location, or saved locally and then opened.  This
is impacting both Word and Excel.  I haven’t tested other applications.  The user gets the error "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened.".
Expected behaviour:  Documents should open in Protected View because they are coming from an untrusted zone (Internet Zone).
    Troubleshooting Results:
     -      If I turn off Protected View the error goes away and the documents open without
issue (but not in Protected View obviously)
    -      If I save the file locally, then copy it to a network drive, the problem goes away (because the zone information is changed?).
    -      If I save the file directly to a network location, then open it, the problem does not impact me (also doesn’t open in Protected View)
    -      If I repair Office the problem is NOT fixed
    -      If I reinstall Office the problem is NOT fixed
The problem doesn't impact all machines, but any new machine I build suffers the problem.  All Protected View options are set by group policy and all machines are getting the correct settings.
    -       The setting “Enable Protected View for files originating from the Internet” is enabled
    -       The setting “Enable Protected View for files located in potentially unsafe locations” is enabled
    -      The setting “Enable Protected View for Outlook attachments” is enabled
    -      Enable Data Execution Prevention mode is enabled
Has anyone seen this problem or can anyone offer suggestions of where to start looking for the root cause?  There are lots of postings on this around the various Internet forums, but most
just suggest turning off Protected View, that is not a valid solution to my mind, Protected View is there for a very sound reason and it is not something I'm willing to turn off, especially when it is working on some machines as expected.
    Thanks.
    James.

Thanks for coming back, James, and I'm glad you've found the source of your
    problem.
As an aside, I had no idea HP made software like that and will take a look
at it - or would if I could. Personally, although I love their hardware, I
wouldn't touch HP software, and the fact that their web page doesn't load
(in IE8) just reinforces my feeling.
    Enjoy,
    Tony

  • View of PDF file changes or looks strange when opening a file.

    Hi all,
I have strange problem, that is haunting me.
A PDF file is created from Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 system. I guess that Microsoft have their own pdf-writer-engine.
From time to time, we have seen that the PDF files, on some computers looks correct, on others gibberish.
One user has a Win7 machine, 32-bit system. 4gb of memory. Today he opened a PDF file from the AX system. When He opened the file on his desktop., it looked fine. After 5 seconds. The entire view changed to strange signs and letters. I opened the same file on a Win-7, 64 bit machine. Everything looks allrigt.  Both of us have Adobe Reader 11.04 installed. one-two houes after the first error, he opened another PDF file. That started to look like gibberish, and after 5 seconds it looked allright.
In general we only see these types of errors something like 1 out of a hundred times. Most common is that the view is gibberish from the beginning, and never changes.
Any idea to solve this, will be much appriciated
    /Hector

I think this is done by the browser when it is saving a temporary file and there's already a file with that exact name in the temp folder.

  • Lightroom 5 and Bridge 6- Color Label and Keyword compatibility

I've added color labels and keywords to images in Lightroom 5 but I'm not seeing them in Bridge CC.
Lightroom Metadata > Color Label Set is set to Lightroom Default (Red-Yellow etc.
And Bridge Preferences > Labels is also set with "Red, Yellow etc" text.
In other words they are the same,  But I'm not seeing the color labels or the keywords in Bridge.
    Thanks,

The answer to this problem is that, in order for Bridge and Lightroom to share labels etc. Lightroom has to write its metadata into xmp sidecar files.
To do this go to: Lightroom > Catalog Settings > Metadata Tab and check : Automatically write changes into XMP.
