Since Installing iTunes 7, I Can't Burn CDs

i just installed iTunes 7 a few days ago and i have tried to burn a data CD on several occassions and it begins to burn, but after about 2 mins. cancels the burn and comes up with the pop-up indicating error 4000.
i bought a 100 pack of sony CD-Rs and i have wasted like 10 already trying to burn. this is really frustrating because i've always been able to burn with iTunes and my computer so i'm assuming that iTunes 7 has something to do with it.
any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I have the exact same problem and have read many other postings describing variations on this frustrating theme. I am getting "unkown error 4450". It is clear from the number of postings that the problem is with the new release and not our individual computers. How can we get Apple to address this and let us know when it is fixed?

  • TS2776 After installing iTunes 11, we can no longer sync our iPhone and iPad devices with Outlook 2007 or 2010.  We are trying to install iTunes 10 to replace iTunes 11. Anyone have a fix for this?

Since installing itunes 11, we can no longer sync to our Outlook 2007 and 2010 calendars (there may be other Outlook files included in this syncing problem). Using the iCloud is not an option as it does not support Vista OS.  We are trying to reinstall iTunes 10.7, however; that is not going particularly well, either. Does anyone have a proven solution for this mess?

FYI: It seems it was a network problem with my WinXP PC. After complete deletion and new installation of XP and iTunes my iPhone will be recognized correctly, Wifi synchronization works (mostly) fine.

  • When starting iTunes I continually get an error message " The registry Settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."

When starting iTunes I continually get an error message " The registry Settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."  I have unistalled and reinstalled iTunes several times and have cleaned up the registry using a 3rd party Windows utility.  Any tips on removing this error message for good?

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • Can't add itunes library to my ipod etc since installing itunes on my new computer. HELP!

I have just installed itunes on my new PC and am trying to add some songs onto an ipod.  The songs were purchases from the Itunes store.  I go through the process of drag and drop onto the device (its the same with my ipad and iphone) but it won't work.  Since installing itunes on my new computer I have bought an album off itunes and it downloaded with no problems - but any of my old purchases won't transfer over.  Not sure what I am doing wrong.  I haven't as yet transferred over my music libray from my old PC (songs that I burnt )  so not sure if it would be the same.  I would have thought that songs that have been purchased in itunes should easily transfer.  Help please?

Move the files for your new purchases out to the desktop.
Migrate your library properly from your old computer as given below.
Move the files stored on the desktop into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.
    Migrate iTunes Library
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Device filter Problems, can't burn cds in iTunes, Blank CDs appear to have

Problem was first noticed because I can't burn CDs in iTunes.
The problem is that all blank CDs show that they have no space on them available. If I look at the properties of a blank CD, they show 0 bytes used, 0 bytes free and 0 bytes available.
By removing the upperfilters and lowerfilters in the registry, (accoring to the Microsoft prescribed method for this problem found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060) the problem is solved for my whole sytem except for iTunes. iTunes then tells me that "the registry settings used by iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. ... Please reinstall iTunes."
I reinstall or repair iTunes and then iTunes opens fine but I can't burn with iTunes or any other program since I am back to all blank CDs showing there is no space available.
The iTunes toubleshooting Fac found at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302976 has been tried also and does not change the problem of blank CDs having no space available.

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

Same problem here!!! This is driving me crazy. Glad to see it isn't me not knowing what I am doing when a couple of months ago I had no problems now as of last night after trying to burn to a CD I had the exact same issue.

  • Since installing iTunes 7.3, all audio playback on CD/DVD drive skips

    Hi,
I am running Windows XP home edition, and have recently downloaded iTunes 7.3.
Since installing iTunes, all audio playback via my CD/DVD skips/stutters. This occurs in all media playes, Windows Media, Sonic DVD etc. Audio files stored on the hard drive play back fine through these same programs. So far I have updated firmware and drivers for my CD/DVD drive and sound card.
I have looked on this site and Dells, and cant find any solutions as to what the problem may be.
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers
    Aidan

One thing you could try is to check your computer manufactures site to see if there is a firmware update for your CD drive.

  • What can I do to correct this error: The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  The drive works fine when I burn a CD using Media Player.

What can I do to correct this error: The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please reinstall iTunes.  I have reinstalled several times but it hasn't changed this error message.  Why am I able to burn a CD using Media Player but not iTunes?  I am using Windows XP and I have burned cds from iTunes in the past.

1: Follow this support doc to completly remove iTunes (your files remain)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
2: Download, install and run the Registry cleaner portion of the free Ccleaner

    3: Reinstall iTunes

  • After installing itunes 7 i can't name any playlists

after installing itunes 7 i can't name any of my playlists. when i make a new one it says untitled playlist 13 or whatever number it is and it won't let me name it something else. Also i can't rename any of my old playlists either. Please help!!!
      Windows XP Pro

I'm also experiencing this issue since installing the latest update (currently running iTunes, 7.1.1.5 on Windows XP Professional) -- I've tried naming a playlist when it's first created, double-clicking, and pressing F2 (a known Windows rename keyboard shortcut). It LOOKS like it is taking the characters I am typing, but after 2 seconds reverts to the default name, for example: "untitled playlist." this is HIGHLY ANNOYING because I try to make new playlists every day and none of the new playlists I want can be added to my iPod. I also notice that the Sort options no longer "stick." The particular podcast I like to download (the Adam Carolla Show) is broken into 12 segments that appear in reverse order. I USED to be able to set a descending sort on these segments after I dragged them to the iPod. Now as soon as I disconnect the iPod, the sort options I choose are reset. I can start to try manually reordering the segments, but I don't understand why iTunes no longer works the way it did before. I will try reinstalling and let folks know if this resolves the problem. I am surprised that there aren't any release notes or known issues documented anywhere on this site. Our problems are just buried in informal forums and not answered. Typical arrogant, overpriced Apple.

  • Problem occured while downloading itunes 8.0 - Can't burn or import

Upon downloading itunes 8.0 for windows an error must have occured because every time I open iTunes the "itunes setup assistant" pops up with a message that reads:
"Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of install other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I have tried repairing and removing and reinstalling itunes multiple times and the error still occurs. I also have not installed CD burning software anytime recently. The only CD burning software I have came with my computer and worked fine with the itunes prior to the download of itunes 8.0. Please help me solve this issue. Thanks.

  • HT201413 The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  Do I have to uninstall before I re-install iTunes?

Note I am receiving when opening up iTunes:  The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please reinstall iTunes.
Question:  Do I have to uninstall iTunes and then reinstall?  I am a little hesitant to do this!
    Noelyn

Hi for the message error "Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
Here are the resolutions I found and it fix the problem for me.
    Resolution
iTunes installs a device filter which helps it work with your optical drive. If this device filter is missing, you will see the message mentioned above. To resolve this issue, reinstall iTunes to put the device filter back in place. To reinstall iTunes, follow the steps in the article below appropriate to your OS:
    HERE http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
If you still get the pop up error "Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
    Do this

    Good luck!
