Since installing yosemeti I can't open up iTunes

I installed Yosemeti last week on my 2012 vintage MacBook Pro, and since installing I can't open up iTunes either from the dashboard or from the Finder menu.

It sounds like you updated to Mac OS X 10.10 and now iTunes will not open. I have a few recommendations for you here, and would start with checking for 3rd party plugins that may be incompatible with Yosemite.

    I would start with using Connection Doctor within Mail to see what the issue is when sending email. At that point, look at the sections to go over what to do when you get one of these errors.

    However I can see that incoming emails are downloading into it from the icon on bottom of screen.

  • After Install of Maverick Can't Open MS Word

    Since installing Maverick I can't open my Word documents getting an error message.  I've attached a photo of the message...

    Run Font Book to validate your fonts. This has fixed some Office issues after updating.
    How to use Font Book to validate fonts
      1. Open Font Book in your Applications folder.
      2. Select All Fonts.
      3. Now click in the list of fonts and select all (Edit > Select All).
      4. Under File in the Menu bar, select Validate Fonts.
      5. Duplicate fonts will be marked with either the yellow badge or a black dot.
      6. Select to remove or delete duplicates.*
      7. Delete font caches
      8. Restart your computer
    * Step 6 – remove or delete duplicates is where the tricky part comes in. You can select to let Font Book disable or remove duplicates, but I’ve found that it removes the one you have not been using rather than selecting the best option. See Font Management in OS X, by Kurt Lang, for more info on fonts.

    After installing Acrobat 8, can only open Word in safe mode. If I delete my customized Normal.dot, then all is well. However I want the macros available from the customized Normal.dot. I tried switching Templates after opening Word and it immediately triggers an error message: "Word has encountered a problem and needs to close." It then recovers all my recent documents even though they were fine, had no need to be saved. Thinking that Normal.dot had been corrupted, I went back to the original M$ Normal.dot and re-created my macros and saved as a new Normal.dot. The next time I open Word, I get the error message.
    I have a template with only one macro. It does not cause this problem. The template I prefer has 3 macros and I will need to create more.

    I am told by my company's IT folks that the problem resides with Office 2003 sp3. If you remove SP3 and revert to SP2, the issue vanishes, so they say (I have not done it yet).
    M$ is possibly ignoring the issue permanently, since they are on a new initiative to unseat PDF in favor of their own document format they're working on presently. I've sent a million error reports to them and....NOTHING.

    Try resetting Photoshop Preferences.   Use your Photoshop start icon to launch Photoshop and immediately press and hole Shift+Ctrl|CMD+Alt|Option keys   Photoshop should Prompt you with Do you want your Preferences deleted. Reply yes.   Photoshop should then delete your user ID preferences and then create a default set of preferences for your ID and start successfully.

    I am not sure what your problem is, can you give more details.
    One possibility is you may be in full screen mode, for details on fixing that see the [[menu bar is missing]] article.
    If you are missing various toolbar items, see the [[back and forward or other toolbar items are missing]] article.
    If your problem is something else please give more details.

    Did you upgrade to Lion just before setting up iCloud? that's more likely to be the issue. PhotoShop CS2 is a PPC program and won't run on Lion - on Snow Leopard it requires Rosetta to emulate PPC, and this is not included in Lion. CS3 and lateer apparently work though with issues.
    Click on the program's icon in the Finder and hit command-i. Near the top of the pane it will say 'Kind': if it says 'PowerPC' then this is the problem. It will not run on Lion and there is no workaround. You will need to revert to Snow Leopard (you could install this on an external disk and start up from that).

    I just found the answer, I think. In Safari > Preferences > Security under Internet Plugings, click the "Manage Websites" button. Find Silverlight and select it to run in "Unsafe Mode."

    I had an app that crashed after updating. I deleted it from my device, then redownloaded it and reinstalled it. So you might try that. Just if you have any data tied to it make sure you save that or you'll lose it.
