Since installing Yosemite, I problems with email, Apple TV, FacetTime.  Any ideas?

Some time ago, I selected my iCloud ID as "AnyName"@me.com.  Then, Apple changed the @me.com to @mac.com but allowed us to keep the original @me.com ID.  This may have created a problem with Yosemite, and I suspect that problem is located somewhere within my WiFi network.  Apple TV is frozen, I receive many notices every day that my iCloud settings need to be adjusted, another email address has appeared in my email InBox (OutBox, Sent, etc too).  Any ideas what I should be doing.  I see a recent post concerning WiFi settings from another reader as well.

You might be able to find a driver here.

Final Cut Express was discontinued about 18 months ago, before the release of Lion (10.7).  It is no longer a supported product and was never supported on Lion, nor on Mountain Lion.
While some FCE users have had success running FCE on Lion, many have reported problems including problems with chroma keying.   I do not recall any solution to the chroma keying problem, but you might try searching this Forum to see what others have discovered or tried.
Final Cut Pro X is the app supported on Lion & Mountain Lion, and the future direction Apple has taken.  Since your computer lab has already moved to Lion (10.7.5) and presumably will move to Mountain Lion in the future, you should begin the process of moving to Final Cut Pro X.  I appreciate there are implications for cost, training, inconvenience and re-doing lesson plans.  But technology moves on and at some point we need to move with it too.

  • Problem with my blog's comments, any idea ?

    hi !
I need your help. I've created a blog on iWeb one month ago, with 70Mo free for 2 months. People could add comments on the articles and pictures since 1 week ago. But now, when someone clicks on "add a comment", the popup sends us on "http://www.apple.com/mobileme/migrating/".
Is it because I've a free account (number of comments limited ?) or have you got an other idea about this problem ?
Thanks a lot for your answer,
    Oliwood

I don't think this is because you've got a free period. I've been using iWeb for quite a while and only just recently I discovered a similar problem with comments on a blog page.
I made a bunch of changes and edits to my site and kept getting error on publishing messages. The problem was isolated to an "add Comments" selection on the blog page. When that choice is UNCHECKED the page publishes fine. When checked, I receive an error on publishing message.
Anyone have an idea how this can be resolved?

  • I am having problems with my wake button responding, any ideas?

Having problems with iPad 3 wake button responding.  I have reset iPad; but no help.

If you mean the button on the front (home button) then it is probably a hardware fault, I would recommend taking it back to the apple store. But for now, I have a work around, go to - Settings, General, Scroll down to accessibility and turning on 'AssistiveTouch' this then gives you a temporary work around.
If you mean the top button (wake/sleep) then I'm afraid there is nothing that can be done other than getting it repaired, again take it to the Apple Store.
    Hope this helps

  • Having problems with National Lottery website. Any idea why?

Tried to get onto National Lottery website today and message saying website not responding. Checked with friends and they are saying all ok for them. Rang Lottery HQ and they said no problems with their website. Advised me to delete all history and cookies and download Internet Explorer. Is there any reason why I should no be able to use Firefox?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • I have an old apple ID that is associated with an email I can no longer access, but over half of my apps are associated with this Apple ID. Any idea on how to reset the apps to go with my newer Apple ID without completely wiping my iPhone?

I have an iPhone 4s. The email I need to use is completely locked because Windows believed someone else was trying to use my account (another reason Windows and I don't seem to get along). Anyway, I think my little sister may have accidentally clicked "Forgot my Password" while trying to download an app on my iPad that was under the same ID. So, an email was sent to my old hotmail account that is lockedried unlocking it, but the alternate email that was listed was an old one of my moms and she can't remember what her username was. I tried answering security questions on my Apple ID to maybe get my password to reset that way, but - since I made this account when I was about 12 or 13 - I can't even begin to remember what the answers to the security questions are. (And before anyone gets on a pedestal about how I was too young to be doing something like this, I did have parent supervision and wanted something like this of my own, so lets stick to the ACTUAL problem). So, main problem here. I now have about 30 app updates that are under an account I basically have no access to. I've deleted the apps from my home screen and tried downloading them with my new Apple ID, but it shows as if it's stored in the cloud and will only let me download it from the old Apple ID. Is there any possible way to dissociate my apps from my old ID and associate them with my newer one WITHOUT completely resetting my phone?

    You can not merge accounts.
Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them.

  • Since updating to 5.1, my phone will not turn off or on.  Black screen with white apple icon.  Any idea how to fix?

    I don't know if I have a 4 or 4s.

The latest version is 5.1.1. If you are trying to update to 5.1 that is your problem; it can't be done.
As your phone is "stuck" follow the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
It doesn't matter if you have a 4 or 4S, but you can easily check by entering its serial number here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

  • Problems with a large video library - any ideas on speeding up opening?

One of the things I really like about iMovie is that it is the best tool I've found so far for managing my large and rapidly growing collection of home video. The raw clips are all nicely organised by event and date, and where I have taken the time to produce an edited movie, this is also easily accessible by name and date.
My problem is that with getting on for 500GB of media in my Events Folder, opening iMovie can now be a 10 minute task, as it seems to need to Optimize and Process the Events even if nothing new has been added since the last time it was opened. There must be some sort of cache though, since if you wait for it to finish processing the events, closing and immediately reopening iMovie happens very quickly.
I assume the cache is getting flushed regularly to free up space. Does anyone know if there is a way to stop this happening, or offer another explanation/work around?

Assuming there is nothing wrong with your computer, maybe iMovie just has too much to open as you say.
If you are done using the majority if your events in your projects, you could move them to an external HD disk. Then if that disk is not on/connected at the time you open up iMovie it will not have to go through them to open up. To do this, do an iMovie Help Search using "move events to external" and find the topic "Copying or moving video from your event library to and external hard disk". The events will be there anytime you need them and will show up in iMovie when that HD disk is hooked up and on and iMovie open. You dont have to move them all, just the large ones you are not using. You have the option of moving or copying them to the HD, you want to move them. Moving them deletes then from your main HD so you may want to be backed up first... This way iMove (With external HD not connected) only now has to open up a lot less video.
The other possibility is to just back up all events pre-thinning, then thin the events on your HD, by either choosing " Move rejected clips to trash" or by "Space saver". if you go to this old post i wrote a description of the difference between the two options, they both work but are different.

  • Problem with creating "updatable" view. Any ideas?

    Hello to nice people!
I'm trying to create plain, simple updatable view such as:
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW v_admin_maint
    (from_addrs,mail_invoice_addrs,auth_off,location_cd) AS SELECT
    A.from_addrs, A.mail_invoice_addrs, A.auth_off,
    A.location_cd FROM admin_maint A, sysusers B WHERE A.location_cd
    = B.location_cd and B.user_id = USER;
    TABLE admin_maint
    from_addrs,
    mail_invoice_addrs,
    auth_off,
    location_cd (PRIMARY KEY)
    TABLE sysusers
    USER_ID (PRIMARY KEY)
    FIRST_NAME
    LAST_NAME
    LOCATION_CD
View works great as view-only, but I got an error on update
statement "ORA-01779: cannot modify a column which maps to a non
    key-preserved table".
    UPDATE v_admin_maint SET from_addrs = 'test' where location_cd
    = 'HOME';
TABLE admin_maint does have PK and this column included into
    VIEW.
    Any ideas? Please advice.

You need to create a unique index on the location_cd column of
the sysusers table, then re-create your view:
    SQL> ALTER TABLE sysusers
      2  ADD CONSTRAINT sysusers_location_cd_uk
      3  UNIQUE (location_cd)
      4  /
    Table altered.
SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW v_admin_maint
      2    (from_addrs,
      3     mail_invoice_addrs,
      4     auth_off,
      5     location_cd)
      6  AS
      7  SELECT A.from_addrs,
      8         A.mail_invoice_addrs,
      9         A.auth_off,
    10         A.location_cd
    11  FROM   admin_maint A,
    12         sysusers B
    13  WHERE  A.location_cd = B.location_cd
    14  and    B.user_id = USER
    15  /
    View created.
    SQL> SELECT      column_name,
      2              updatable
      3  FROM        user_updatable_columns
      4  WHERE       table_name = 'V_ADMIN_MAINT'
      5  /
    COLUMN_NAME                    UPD
    FROM_ADDRS                     YES
    MAIL_INVOICE_ADDRS             YES
    AUTH_OFF                       YES
    LOCATION_CD                    YES
    SQL> UPDATE v_admin_maint
      2  SET    from_addrs = 'test'
      3  where  location_cd = 'HOME'
      4  /
    1 row updated.

  • Problems with email, Macbook Pro, Yosemite

Keep getting knocked out of email. Different errors, mostly cannot connect to server. Per Apple's mail support page. One of the settings should be Password. When I change to password in settings, it keeps switching to MD5 Challenge -Response. Could this be causing my problems with email?
I have a macbook pro & am using the latest Yosemite. But have been having these problems before installing Yosemite. No email problems on an iPad.
    Thanks for your help.

    UPDATE for anyone who's interested.
I called Apple support. The woman was very helpful and, so far, seems to have corrected my issues. She removed & reinstalled my email accounts. The problem was that the accounts were set up as POP accounts when they should have been IMAP accounts. The authentication is now set to Password and all mail settings are as shown in the Apple's Mail Settings Lookup page.

Please can anyone help with the continuing password rejection problem with email on my imac.My Ipad and other systems work fine but despite reloading my password on imac it bounces back.Apple store has been visited and I have tried everything they suggest.

I use free Yahoo mail webMail access because folders I created in webmail access doesn't get set up in Apple Mail. While I was searching for post about password and keychain issues, I stumbled on several threads that complain about Mail folder issues, so I'm holding off on Apple Mail.
On the password and keychain issue that your post is all about.  I've been using login keychain to save and automatical fill my login screens for a year or so successfully, with Safari and Chrome. Automatic form fill also works for Facebook login. Unfortunately, about 4 to 6 months ago, automatic password form fill stopped working with Yahoo webmail, while still worked for GMail (Safari and Chrome). I tried deleting the password entry for my two Yahoo email accounts to start fresh, but neither Safari not Chrome will even ask me if I want to save the password. I was so frustrated that I eventually installed the keypassX 0.43 (password manager) that is quite primitive sompare to OS X's keychain (when it works). Probably no surprise to you yet.
The surprise, to me at least, is that, for whatever reason, password auto form-fill from keychain started working again for Yahoo webmail login on Safari about 5-7 days ago. Still doesn't work on Chrome!
Two tips I can share, at least with webmail access:
    1. Password is save only for one of my yahoo mail accounts. When I login in with my other yahoo account, I get no prompt to save the password, and form fill doesn't work when I try to log in a second time with my other Yahoo mail account.
    2. On inspection of my login keychain, I see a webform password item saved for my Yahoo account that works with keychain. The name of the password is: login.yahoo.com(MyAccountName1#). When I open the password item and look in the Access Control tab, I see Safari and Chome are listed as allowed to access this password item..
I also an "Internet password" item with a name of just login.yahoo.com. When I open the the password item, it looks just like the password item created for MyAccountName#1, but the MyAccountName#2 is listed in the Account field. Inside the Access Control tab, no apps are listed in access permission. I added Safari and Chrome to the lists of allowed app, saved the password item.
Now when I bring up the Yahoo login page(by bookmark) on Safari, form fill fills in MyAccountname#1 for name and the proper password and I can login in. When I change the name to MyAccountName#2, the correct password is retrieved and I can log in! Alas, it still doesn't work on Chrome.
BTW, I changed the password item type from "Internet password" to "Web Form password" and saw no difference! I also edited the name to be "login.yahoo.com (MyAccountName#2)" to look like the web form password item that works, but it has no effect either.
From my experimentation, here's my observation:
    1. A Web Form password item is created for the first account name(MyAccountName#1) for login.yahoo.com and typed as Web Form password. When I log in using MyAccountName#2, an Internet Password is created, but no applications are listed as allowed to access the password item, even when the password item was created after just logged in and logged out to yahoo with the account name and password for MyAccountName#2.
    2. Manually adding Safari as an app that is allowed to use the password item works. Doesn't work with Chrome!
The version of Safari I'm using is Version 5.1.7 (6534.57.2). My installed version of Chrome is Version 21.0.1180.79 beta.
