Since iTunes update it will not open & it fouls up internet

Since my iTunes automatically updated it will not open. When I try to open it my web browser no longer works. I have to reboot the computer in order to use my web browser. When I tell the computer to restart it gives me a "QT Helper is not responding" message.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quick Time and iTunes both, with no positive resolution. Is this a problem others are having and is there a fix for it. I REALLY miss my iTunes!

Hello and welcome...
Try disabling your anti virus software and turning off the Firewall.

Could not access Creative Cloud today without updating it. After update it will not open. It spins for five seconds then closes. Mac Pro tower 3 yrs old 12 gb ram os 10.7.2

I was unable to access the laptop last night to create a new user; however my client would perfer not to try a second account since that would make it unusable for him while we test the second profile.
Also John Sophos was installed after this started to verify that it was not a virus/malware (I know pointless step but it has happened to me before) so I don't think that is the problem

  • ITunes 11.1 will not open after downloading.

iTunes 11.1 will not open after downloading; iTunes64.msi is "missing". I can't uninstall the present iTunes version (11.0.5.5). Any ideas? Please?

    *****FIXED*****
This is what I did to fix it.  I am running Win7 so I don't know if it will work on Win 8 or not.
    1-Uninstalled QuickTime
    2-Uninstalled Apple Mobile Device Manager
    3-Uninstalled Apple Software Update Manager
    4-Uninstalled iTunes
    5-Uninstalled iCloud
6-Uninstalled any left over Apple software
    7-Restarted Computer
    8-Installed iTunes
    9-Restarted Computer
I did not install iCloud.  I was able to authorize my PC and Sync did work.

  • App update page will not open, help.

When using the app's store update in which it says there is 3 updates, the update page will not open, just a blank page, can anybody help?

There is a problem with Apple’s servers that only they can fix. The problem has been going on for several days. You can try rebooting first and see if that gets the apps to show up in the updates tab.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
This is a workaround only and not a fix. If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    Select update on the Apps
Hopefully the red notification number will go away after the updates are applied.
Another option is to update your apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the updated apps to the iPad.
    1. Launch iTunes
    2. Click on Apps in the list under the Library heading in the left Sidebar.
Click on Updates at the top in the window on the right
    Update all of the apps
Connect your iPad and Sync with iTunes
If you do not see the sidebar in iTunes 11 - go to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menu at the top.

    Many thanks.
That suggests that another application has stashed old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

After I made the 10.4.11 update, Safari will not open. When I clic its icon in the Applications folder, just nothing happens. On the attempt to start the program from Terminal, I get the following:
    $ /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari

    Referenced from: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Syndication.framework/Versions/A/Syndication
    Reason: image not found
    Trace/BPT trap
In fact, /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks has no subdirectory vmutils.framework. Thus it seems that some essential system files are missing. What to do?

Hello Kai and welcome to Apple Discussions ...
Might be a corrupted Safari preference file.. try this: Locate this file: com.apple.safari.plist
It's here: Home/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file, drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. Now try to launch Safari. If it works, don't forget to click on the icon in your Dock, then click, "Keep in Dock".

  • Windows Vista Issue: iTunes auto-updated, now will not open

    Computer: Dell XPS 400
    OS: Windows Vista Ultimate
I was running a version of iTunes that I recently downloaded after installing Windows Vista Ultimate. Yesterday, Apple Updater updated my iTunes install to version 7.1.3.1 and now iTunes will not open.
I have tried uninstalling, registry cleaners, running as administrator, using compatibility mode, etc. I have tried virtually everything listed on these forums and nothing has worked.
iTunes.exe will run under Processes in Task Manager, but will never open.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is Apple planning on fixing this apparant bug in future releases?

This problem is evidently extremely common, as there are many posts saying essentially the same thing about 7.3.1. I installed it and ran into a number of problems immediately, the least of which was that iTunes does not run. The UI appears, but never gets focus so does not respond to any mouse or KB events. There is no error message of any kind. Deleting the preferences files does nothing. Deep removal of all things iTunes (folders, leftover registry keys, etc.) followed by a clean reinstall does not change the situation.
Worse, 7.3.1 uses lots of CPU power (both cores >50% for seconds at a time) while doing exactly nothing. While I appreciate that Apple and Microsoft are dedicated to ensuring that no CPU is left unhammered, this is a bit much.
I have the same version as a clean (first time ever) iTunes install on an XP laptop, and that, so far, is benign.

  • Downloaded update iTunes, now program will not open!

Can someone tell me how to solve this problem.  I downloaded the newer version of iTunes to my PC today, now it will not open the application.  I have unistalled and tried redownloading a couple times now, it still will not work.  I am runnnig Windows 7 64 bit.  Thanks

Try following steps one at a time:
    1. Restart computer, right mouse click iTunes icon and select "Run As Administrator"
    2. If that does not work, check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    3. If that fails or you don't see ApsDaemon.exe in the Processes, refer to following article to remove SC files:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    4. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

  • Itunes 11.4 will not open

I just updated my iMac (2.66 Ghz Intel, with 2GB memory, and 230 GB available HD space ) to 10.6.8 via
System Preferences auto update. Along with the system update came iTunes 11.4. Now, when I click on the iTunes icon on
the dock it bounces a few times then just stops and iTunes will not open. I have tried opening it from the Applications folder
but it then behaves the same way. According to the Apple web site my computer meets all of the requirements for 11.4.
    Any ideas ?

    Linc,
Yesterday, before I ever saw your replay, I did a Time Machine restore from August (backed up everything new/modified since then) and started fresh.
I got a crash at once when I tried to load one of my old libraries.
So, I deleted all the old libraries and I have been redoing all of the family devices from scratch and haven't had a single issue.  Even went through the 11.4 update, and still no issues.
So, I'm thinking something got corrupted in a few of my most commonly loaded and updated libraries and that was the source of my issues.
    We'll see how things go.
Thanks for all the advice and tidbits.

  • ITunes downloads but will not open.

I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes with QuickTime but it will not open up on my computer. I had QuickTime before, and that works fine, I can use that program normally. But my iTunes just doesn't open. When I click on it, the hourglass appears for a few seconds then nothing happens. I have tried the suggested problem solvers that are already on the apple site, but they haven't fixed my problem. I was wondering if there is anything else I could do?

I helped a friend today with his new iPod. He had not updated since I installed version 6. When the installation of QuickTime/iTunes 7 was done, I rebooted the computer. I ran into the same issue as you each time I tried to launch iTunes. The screen would flash once, the hourglass cursor would appear for a few seconds, then nothing. Then I realized I was using an old shortcut from the Windows Start menu. Oops. Once I found the newly installed iTunes application and double-clicked on it, iTunes launched and we were good to go. Created a new iTunes account, redeemed the gift card I gave him, imported some CDs and sync'd the new iPod so he was happy. I went home happy knowing that he is going to be an iTunes addict just like me.

  • Upgraded to Yosemite It's a nightmare!!  Itunes and Safari will not open Iphoto does not exist and the list goes on!!

I've spent all day trying to fix all the problems I'm encountered after updating to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro today.  It's been a waste of a day.  Nothing I have researched has helped.  I wish I never updated.  What is ironic that most of the things that do not work or Apple i products.  I don't understand cloud but have a feeling this is the cause of most of the problems.
After update my computer prompted me to say cannot connect to Icloud Drive (What I don't understand I cloud and didn't know I had an Icloud drive).
Itunes will not open at all and it does not even try to open(I've downloaded it again to no avail).
Iphoto has a Circle slash mark through it so it's not even avaliable.
Safari will not open just like Itunes.
Icloud in preferences just keeps spinning like it's looking for Icloud drive. (Even though I don't use this I feel it is the problem)
So I have no access to my music, my photos  cannot get on the internet with Safari Browser.
I'm afraid of what else probably doesn't work but I've been so consumed with the top three I haven't got to really explore the rest of all the apps.
My main concern at the moment are my pictures and my music.
Please Help, Thank you so much!!
