  • MacBook Pro 2008, won't go past the start up page, just keeps telling me to restart

I have a MacBook Pro 2008, it freezes then has pink pixels, restarts but then says I need to restart it again but it never gets past the start up page, just keeps telling me to restart again. I've tried taking out the battery and plugging it in, I'm not sure what else to do

Don't know about the pink stuff....
You may be experiencing a Kernel Panic, as shown in Apple doc. #HT1392. If not disregard
Bad or incompatible RAM is, more often then not, the cause of most Kernel Panics. It could also just need to be reset.  Here's the most used site for Resolving Kernel Panics. Please do all the steps in order, even if you don't think you need to do a certain step.

  • Since LION update problem with iphone syncronisation

Since the LION update on our macbook we have problems with the iphone syncronisation, reset the iphone has not solve the problem - what ist the mistake?

What worked for me was not on the Apple troubleshooting list. I tried the whole list.
First, I reset the phone. (Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time. Hold them both until you see the screen go black and the white Apple logo appear. When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting.)
    Second, I restored the phone.
I could not restore the phone until I reset it.
    Good luck.

  • IPhoto can't see items added to Aperture since Lion update

lots of Lion issues so the actually issue may be much deeper...but.  since i udpated to Lion, Iphoto doesn't recognize any photos, folders or projects added to Aperture since the date i upgraded to Lion.  I'm talking about the "show aperture library" option.  any ideas?  thanks in advance.

the only app i know of to view the aperture library is when i sync my iphone in itunes.  and surprise, under the photo syncing tab, it is the same issue.  i see my entire aperture library, but none of the photo or projects i've added to aperture since the date of my lion update.  is lion storing photos in a new location possibly?  thanks

  • ICloud on Mail not connecting to IMAP server since Lion update

Since the latest lion update, my Mail has been unable to recieve or send any mail.
Mail connection Dr is showing the following error; "Could not connect to this iCloud IMAP server."
Here's a few screenies showing the problems; http://imgur.com/a/VA7x1
Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks.

    Thanks for the responces, both!
I've tried re-signing in, in both mail and through system pref. I just get the following error at the starting "Welcome to mail" splash screen
The iCloud IMAP server “p04-imap.mail.me.com” is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue, you might not be able to receive messages.
As to the mail server, I can only assume no! As far as I can remember it was just a case of username+password and I was good to go. Really stumpped as to why this has happened.

  • English since lion update

hi, since my update to lion my mac shows the programs and apps in english, the finder is in german. the language i choose in german, all the other languages are marked off.why are the programs and the system preferences still in english?

Normally everything should be in the language which is at the top of the list in system preferences/language & text/language (after logout/login).  If not, something has gone wrong with the install and you might want to try reinstalling.

    Hey jimandsons!
I have an article for you that can tell you how to change the country setting for your iTunes Store:
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311
    Change your iTunes Store country
Sign in to the account for the iTunes Store region you'd like to use. Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region.
Follow the onscreen process to change your region, agree to the terms and conditions for the region if necessary, and then change your billing information.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

  • Since Lion update, Mac App Store doesn't work properly

    Hi,
with the Lion update, my problems with the app store started.
It loads descriptions, sometimes a few pictures, sometimes nothing. and sometimes it even works fine.
But most times, the beach ball appears and the app store freezes forever.
otherwise the computer works fine, including the internet.
i repaired disk permissions, and freshly rebooted. i tried everything several times.
the itunes store works fine as well.
(regarding other posts: i don't use bootcamp, spotlight is active, about 10GB free HD space. there are no other speed problems)
i have a mac book air 2010, 4 GB ram.
    i'm grateful for any suggestions.
    cheers,

    Hi, thanks again.
I reinstalled Lion (using Recovery), but the problem remains. Even worse, Apple Software Update didn't work any more. As soon as I selected something for installation (e.g. iTunes), the progress bar would show but then it used to freeze forever (internet connection was fine). I tried several times after reboot.
The I tried a hard shutdown (holding the power key pressed), and after that, the app store was working (very slowly) and i could also install the software updates.
However, after a normal reboot, the app store didn't work any more.
I repeated this twice with the same result: the app store works after a hard shutdown, but not after a normal shutdown+reboot.
    Any suggestions?

  • Help! My Macbook air keeps telling me to restart my laptop!

Ever since I installed the new OS X Lion, my macbook air keeps telling me to force restart! This problem already happened 3-4 times and I dont know what to do. I am worried! Someone please tell me how to fix this problem. Thank you!

Sounds like you have a hardware problem. I would take the computer in for service. Otherwise, all I can suggest is you reinstall Snow Leopard:
Erase Drive and Reinstall OS X
    1.  Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
When formatting has completed quit DU and return to the Snow Leopard installer. Complete the Snow Leopard installation.
If you are not even able to successfully boot from your Snow Leopard DVD without the panic occurring, then take the computer in for service.

  • Keeps saying install failed "OS X could not be installed on your computer" and keeps telling me to restart... but it comes back to the same screen. please help!

Please help!! After installing OS X Maverick it told me to restart to fully update and now it keeps restarting and telling me that it has failed and to restart again, only to tell me again that it has failed and needs to restart. What should i do??

I went to the apple store and got my laptop looked over by a technician who then told me that the hard drive was broken, which was the reason why it was doing so. It's best to take it to the store and get a good decision on what's wrong with it and  get the solution. I hope  this helps.

  • Since i updated to Mavericks i have had 16 random restarts! What's going on?

My 13-inch, Mid 2012 MacBook Pro has randomly restarted since i updated to Mavericks. After 15 times it seemed to locate the problem - it had found a program that i never installed (Tuxler) that caused it to crash. The computer removed the files (that i could not locate). I thought it was over and it happened again. Here is the latest panic log:

  • I recently tried updating my iMac, now when I power up it keeps telling me to restart the computer. How can I fix this on my own?

I tride installing updates for my iMac, and now when I try to turn it on it just comes up with a small window that tells me to turn off, then back on the computer. Is there a way I can fix this on my own?

Do you have any backups of your system prior to do those updates?  If so revert them out.  Or reinstall the system from your recovery partition.
The reason for this is those updates clobbered a log of people:
Thunderbolt Software Update 1.2 Causes Boot Failures
Thunderbolt Update plaguing MacBook Pros with kernel panics
So the only solution is to get them out of there and the only way to do that is revert your system.
