Since OS Mavericks upgrade any new music added to itunes wont sync on my iPhone
I only sync to a selected playlist, as my itunes library is far greater then the capacity on my iphone, I usually burn lossless but downsize files for syncing. I have tried other file formats and they still dont appear on iphone. According to itunes there is at least 5gb free space on my phone. Can anybody help?
Hello, I was able to get the greyed out circles to stop by updating to the newest software for the phone and itunes. I'm sure you have already tried that though. However, I now have a new problem. Itunes shows certain albums on the phone in the window but they don't appear on the phone at all. They even play on iTunes from the phone. Were you able to find a solution to your problem? I'd really appreciate some help as this is getting old...

How do I stop all of my music in my itunes library syncing to my iphone 5 even when the songs aren't ticked?
The frustrating part about the restore is that is seems to be finished when it in fact is not. The restore will look "finish" and your phone will be at the Swipe to Unlock screen. If you swipe and look at your home screen at this point of the restore, you'll see everything is not quite right. While the process seems to be not doing anything just leave the phone attached and do something else for about an hour. This part of the process is not mentioned during the restore operation. I believe there are about two steps to the restore process: 1) restore the phone settings (ringtones, background, notification settings, etc.) and give the user the unlock screen; 2) without letting the user know there is still more to do, begin the slow process of restoring all the music, movies, apps and what not. It's this second step that causes the confusion. Nothing lets you know to wait that process out. I've restored a couple devices from a computer backup and the 2-step process looks the same.

Since iOS 7.1 any new music that is loaded is only 2:42 long.
I have the full length versions on my computer and none of my older music was affected, but anything I have tried to add since the update will not go passed 2:42.(This happens once I tranfer to my iPhone 5). I have entire albums that every song is that length. I would hate to have to carry CD's again. Please help me. I don't even have a clue where to begin with this.
In iTunes on your PC, go to Music, then select one of the "problem" albums by clicking it. Now go to a track and right-click it and then "get info".
Now click the "options" tab. In there you will see a Start Time and Stop Time. Is the stop time marked as 2:42 with a tick ? If it is - how about the "remember playback position" is that also ticked ?
Try unticking and resyncing. Does that fix it ? -
How do I backup only new music added to iTunes library?

I have my iTunes library of 9000+ songs on my laptop, and backed-up on two external hard drives (a Passport and a Lacie). Is there a way to "update" my backups with just the new songs I've added or do I have to delete the old backup libraries and replace with the new library? Same questions for iPhoto as well. I've loaded lots of different music on and it would be quite the chore to physically look through each folder to see what albums/songs are not in the older iTunes libraries to update them. Thank you for your help as always!I also need this answer for OSX.

I have suffered from this problem for years, but since upgrading to 128 iOS devices in September, the mysterious iTunes/iOS hidden data disease has gotten intolerable. Here's the deal:
I use my iPhone and iPad mostly for media consumption. I don't have a ton of apps. I have lots of videos, music through iTunes Match, and a few pictures. I'm one of those dinosaurs who doesn't use the cloud but downloads it, stores it, and syncs it via USB frequently (which I would bet is the root of my problem). Although I have a large capacity devices, I sync almost daily. And each time I sync, my displayed free space and the space iTunes allows me to use differs more and more. Old fixes used to involve such things as restoring the devices, turning off automatic syncing, turning off photo syncing, turning off other syncing apps, etc. And these things were temporary fixes.
Let me give you an example of what I mean by temporary. It has been exactly eight days since I last restored my iPad to brand spanking new, retaining nothing. In those eight days and approximately eight or nine manual USB syncs, each with an average of 60 GB transferred, I mysteriously have managed to lose 40 GB. This afternoon during my most recent sync, iTunes showed 86.3 GB free. However, as usual, it wouldn't sync anything close to that. By the time I had whittled my selections down to an acceptable amount, it still showed I had 47.2 GB free both in iTunes and in Settings on the iPad. Yet when tested it by trying to sync a 50 MB app, it said there was not enough available space. In days past, problems like this would take weeks or maybe even months to accumulate. And the culprit would usually be the "Other" category. When that happened, the remedies I described would help. This new beast is something else, though. Like I said, this took only eight days.
I finally decided to post something, though, after I reset my iPhone to factory settings this evening. When I was syncing the initial apps and videos, it would not let me sync more than 30 GB of material. I don't know what to do, guys. I bought the maximum capacity devices because I like my HD content. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? If you say I just need to sync less, (1), Apple needs to get its act together, and (2) It might sound crazy, but I can probably only push it to 2 days, so I'd only be postponing my problems a few days.

The computer I had all of my iTunes music on recently got a virus and was completley wiped. I will now be attempting to use my laptop for iTunes, which I just installed. But now my iPhone 4 has 150+ songs and my iTunes has none. I know I cannot transfer my music from iPhone->iTunes, but can I download new music to my iTunes, then sync my phone and not lose all my music? I am basically asking if I have only 20 songs on my iTunes that aren't on my phone, is there a way to sync and add the music from iTunes to my phone (already has music on it) without replacing it with everything I have on it?

Music purchased from the iTunes store can be re-downloaded at no charge. Anything else will have to be restored from the last backup of your computer before it was wiped or you will need to purchase 3rd party software to try and extract the music from the phone. -
I recently updated iTunes to version 10.3.1.55. Since then when I try to sync my IPod classic it says on the top of iTunes (where the barbers pole is) "Step 1of1 Determining Tracks to Sync". This stays like that for about 15 minutes before a message pops up saying "Itunes could not copy ""song title name here"" to the Ipod because an unknown error occurred (-50)". This message pos up for every song title that has been added to itunes since the itunes update. Therefore I am unable to sync any new music. This only happens when syncing the ipod as the iphone syncs with no problems.

The problem is with facebook, go to settings / facebook / your user name and delete your account, the do a hard reset (home+power for some seconds).
dont need to delete the facebook app! just delete your integrate account from settings

When synching my ipod 80 gig classic, I get this message " iPod cannot be synched. A duplicate file name was specified" And yet, any new music in iTunes is added. What causes this message?
Try deleting the iPod Photo Cache from the nominated folder that you have set up to sync photos to the devices.

7.3 Upgrade - Won't save any new music
I have just upgraded to version 7.3 but an error message has come up saying library cannot be saved (-50). I have tried to download again but same message occurs.
It won't allow me to save any new music to the library.
Has anyone else come across this and does anyone know how to solve it.I have exactly the same problem. Every time I start the program It tries to dreate the library and then gives the message "The i tunes library cannot be saved an unknown error occurs (-50) I'm sorry I upgraded and wish I could go back.
Hopefully someone will find an answer. Otherwise I guess I don't buy any more itunes which would make my wife happy!

I have an Ipod touch and recently added new music to my Itunes library. When I sync with the library, the new music does not show up on my ipod. The sync process seems to be working and there is still plenty of space on the Ipod for new music so I'm not sure what the problem is!
What happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

I've recently noticed that since the last upgrade any links to pdf files on websited no longer work. All I get is a blank white page or a blank black page when I click on these links. Can I fix this?

Deauthorized all computers from my account. Which now I think I should have not done!! I reauthorized mine only BUT now I can no longer play any new songs purchased without it asking me to authorize my computer?? When I authorize it tell me my computer IS ALREADY authorized?? And still will not play any new music I purchase. PLEASE somebody help??

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
