  • Apple Mail Still Will Not Work with Verizon

    Greetings to All:
    Sunday, March 24, 2013
I've been trying to get Apple Mail to work with Verizon email for some years without success. I read the boards and find that this is not an uncommon problem. I received the new server settings for Verizon email today and eagerly plugged them in thinking this would solve my problems with receiving Verizon email, but, alas, it did not. Microsoft Outlook does a dandy job of pulling in Verizon email, but Apple Mail cannot. It's ridiculous that I should have to jump over to another email app to open one email account. All of the settings have been checked and double checked and the machine rebooted as the instructions mandate.
I don't understand what the problem is with Apple Mail and Verizon email. Apple Mail pulls in just about every other email service without flaw. Does anybody out there have any insight into this?
    -Dr. John

I am beyond frustrated with this issue.  I've just spent 90 minutes on the phone with verizon support and it couldn't be fixed.  I was told to call Apple.  HAH!  "Please call during normal business hours."  Would anyone know what they are???!
I did NOT have trouble until I changed the servers, per Verizon's request. I am so happy I didn't futz aroudn with my iPad.

  • Apple Mail App won't work for Yahoo Mail

About two months ago I switched from using the Yahoo web interface for my Yahoo mail to using the Apple Mail App.  (Yahoo changed their web interface and I didn't like the new one).  The Apple mail app worked fine until 2 days ago.  I couldn't get new mail or send mail.  It appeared that mail could not connect to the Yahoo mail server.  I killed mail and started it up, that didn't work.  I took the account offline and then back online and that didn't work.  When I tried to do things like delete mail that I had received before the problem started Mail appeared to hang and I had to Force Quit Mail.  Finally I deleted the email account from mail and then tried to recreate it.  Now I can't recreate the account via the normal mail process of creating an account.
I have a MacBook Pro which I bought about 4 months ago. I'm on OSX 10.9.1.  I'm using Mail version 7.1 that came with the MacBook Pro.
So I am back to using the Yahoo web interface, that I really don't like.  BTW my mail works fine on my iPhone.

Well, Mail crashed.  Then the WiFi I was using went down (I'm at a Texas State park and the power failed) and I switched to using my iPhone as a hot spot and it suddenly connected.  Could the problem have been the Texas State Park router?

  • Since upgrade to yosemite aperture 3.4.5 won't work

    I have 'upgraded' to yosemite.
Aperture 3.4.5 won't work this version of OS X.
    Help.
Do i have to buy new version of aperture? Will Nik software work?

Sadly as i had suspected, i had to use option 4 and pay for the upgrade.
Try to contact Apple Support again - you should not have to pay for an incremental update.
Contact the AppStore Support and request a refund. You will need to provide a proof op purchase of Aperture and insist to talk to the manager.
    Use this link: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/
Apple sent redeem codes for Aperture 3.6 to several users who had bought the version on disks, if they could provide a serial number, so they could download the update for free.  See for example this discussion: (The post marked as the solution)
Re: Aperture update not possible after update to Yosemite
It is really unfortunate you missed the window of opportunity with Mavericks MacOS X 10.9.5, when the update was easy.

  • My apple mail application won't work on my macbook, iPad, or iPhone.

About a week ago, my apple mail (aol and google accounts) stopped pulling. They won't work on any of my apple products. It keeps saying unknown error. It will add my contacts for google and calendar, but nothing for AOL.
I have erased my computer and reinstalled the new operating system thinking maybe something was missing (component wise) but it still won't work. I don't know what to do. Please help.

This is what I am seeing on my screen. It won't let me even add a google or AOL account. It keeps saying there is a connection error.

  • Mail will no longer work with AOL

My wife can not access her AOL email account through Mail.  She has accessed it for long time but this morning she came down and was prompted to enter her password. "The AOL IMAP server "imap.aol.com" rejected the password for user xxxxx"  She entered her password but it wouldnt take.  She actually has two AOL email account that she accesses through Mail and neither would work.
She logged onto www.aol.com and was able to sign in.  She changed her passwords to be safe.  We went into Mail and Preferences and changed her passwords for each account making sure to save the changes.  But again, she was prompted to enter her password and still the same message as above.
After reading the boards here I went into Keychain Access and ran Keychain First Aid.  I ran Verify first and no problems found.  Then ran Repair and no problems found.  I shut the whole computer down and restarted.  No luck with getting mail to interface with AOL.  Note: on my user account (Admin) my AOL account is working fine.
The inbox error message is "Unable to Connect"  There may be a problem wit the mail server or network (not the case as I am getting my mail fine).  Verify the settings for account "xxxx - AOL Mail" or try again.  The server returned ther erro: The attempt to read data from the server "imap.aol.com" failed
Then I went into her Ipad, where the mail was also not working, and deleted the mail account.  I went into to create the new account and go the message "The user name or password for "imap.aol.com" is incorrect.
Again, I can go to AOL.com and log into her account and get her mail fine.
I dont know what to do.  Nothing seems to make sense.
    Help?!?
    Thanks

Mail stopped working w/AOL for me 3 days ago on all 4 computers and iphone.  I have two accounts and neither can send/receive mail.  Tried everything I can think of/found online like other users here.  Extremely frustrating to have to login to AOL server to check it.  I did discover today that I can disable the wifi on my iphone and connect just fine over 3G.  This tells me my settings and passwords are fine on the computers-seems to be a problem AOL has w/network connections.  Any ideas?

  • Mail app won't work with my university proxy

    Dear all,
I have a problem with the mail application on Lion. I'm behind a proxy server in my university and all other applications such as Safari, Chrome and Skype works well with this proxy when I have configured it in system settings.
Mail application, however, never works. It looks like exactly when I'm completely offline and have no internet access. This is not something new on Lion and I had the exact same problem when I was on Snow Leopard. I wonder others have a workaround for this.
Some more information: Proxy server works on port 50 with authentication.
    All the best,
    Arman

some updates on this issue, Mail application uses the same proxy that has been set on your system (system preferences==>Network==>Advanced==>proxies). People usually use HTTP/HTTPS proxy for surfing the web. You should make sure to set SOCKS proxy as well. Mail application works with SOCKS proxy. Note that port number for SOCKS proxy is usually different from the port number for HTTP and HTTPS but the IP address of  your server (apparently) is the same.
    Hope this helps

  • Outgoing mail (SMTP) won't work

Setting up mail in new Imac and having problems with outgoing mail. Using SBC Global.net, (AT&T) have previously not had problems on prior system. Lost all previous settings, etc. on other so could not just transfer. Incoming mail seems to work find, but when trying to send keep getting msg. that the smtp server rejected the password. Have went to keychain and verified password, checked settings mail preferences, nothing seems to work, any ideas appreciated!

I think I may have just figured out a part of this puzzle. I have more than just my att account set up in Mail. Even though all of my accounts are setup to use the ATT SMTP server only (with the appropriate ATT login info) I am getting the same rejection notices as everyone else.
I noticed that in the rejection notice though, that it was saying I was sending mail from my other main account, not my sbcglobal (ATT) account. I thought that was strange since I set up all my accounts to use the SBC (ATT) login info for ATT's SMTP Server. So obviously it is a problem in Mail. Mail is somehow confused and sending some wrong piece of info to the SMTP server. When I changed the sender from my other account to my SBCGLOBAL account, the mail went right out with no other problems.
So this isn't a solution for those of you who are struggling with only an ATT account, but I think it points to a possible problem within Mail. The answer might be to delete the accounts in Mail and set them back up again. It's looking like Apple might need to make a tweak to Mail to fix this if indeed this is the correct cause. Hope this helps someone.

  • Mail & Calendar won't work with Mavericks

    1. I open Mail in Mavericks and cannot see any of my new or saved emails from my Gmail account.
    2. When I try to open Calendars the screen briefly flashes and Calendars will not open.
Is there a fix for these issues?
Mavericks seems to be a waste of time, my Mac Pro worked fine with Mountain Lion and now I seem to have a very buggy system.

  • Apple Mail and Safari not working, other browers fine

Apple Mail suddenly won't download mail, it spins and spins, but gets no mail.  It also won't quit, I had to force quit several times.  And Safari has become sluggish, can't even load a page. I tried reset, it made Safari work to load one page, but since then won't load any more.  At the same times, Opera. Chrome and Firefox work great, very fast.
    And ideas????

Regarding Mail, does the spinning beach ball start when you click on specific messages?  Spam messages, perhaps?  If "yes," you need to create a rule that deletes these messages.  You want to select a characteristic that is sufficiently broad to catch the offending sender every time BUT is also sufficiently narrow so that legitimate mail is not deleted.
One example that I found is sender includes:
    .info
That catches most of the messages that were causing my wife problems and we certainly don't know anyone named John.Info.  Of course, if we ever do get a friend with that name, we've got a problem.

  • When I updated to OS 5.0 my old apple id which was not an e-mail address won't work anymore, how can I fix this?

When I updated to OS 5.0 my old apple id which was not an e-mail address won't work anymore, how can I fix this?

There is no way to consolidate iTunes accounts.
Setting up an iPhone has never required creation of a new Apple ID.
You've apparently purchased content with both Apple ID's.  Sign into the device with the correct Apple ID and sync the content.
