Since Reader X previous view tool not working with linked documents

We have many linked pdf documents. After upgrading to Acrobt Reader X we can´t go back to the parent document by using the "previous view" command. In older versions we can use this function to navigate back. Is there an option in the preferences to reactivate this possibility?

I have been told by Adobe support that this is not a bug, but a security feature.
Our company has, over many years, developed for our most important software application a PDF help system with hundreds of books and thousands of pages. There are myriad links between and within the books. In order to make navigation through this morass easier, we have provided our users a starting "Main Menu" with links to the books. We also set it up so that only one PDF is open at any given time ("open in same window" option), otherwise a user could end up with hundreds of open PDF documents on their taskbar or desktop. We also have our users take advantage of the "Previous View" mechanism to make it easier to navigate while keeping only one window open at a time. (The browser "Back" button trick will not work with PDFs that have been closed).
However, Since version X of the Reader, the Previous View mechanism will not work with PDFs that have been closed. That is, you can only get back to a previous view in another PDF if it is still open. As mentioned above, this could leave our users with hundreds of open PDFs, and thus it is not an option for us. But Adobe has ignored our pleas.
You must vote with your feet; that is all Adobe understands. Adobe does not care about our needs and we have given up on them. We are currently telling our users:
"If you use a non-Adobe PDF reader, you will be able to install it on a system alongside any version of Adobe Reader, including version 10. We have found that Tracker Software makes an excellent free product called PDF-XChange Viewer, which may be downloaded HERE. PDF-XChange has a smaller footprint, is faster, and has more features than Adobe Reader, including a 64-bit version for Windows XP/Vista/7.
To set up this program to optimally use our help system, go to Preferences, and under "General," specify that the Documents Layout be Single rather than Multiple. Then you will be able to use the Alt keys with the arrows, or the Previous/Next View buttons on the toolbar, with closed PDFs."

Said option (found under Edit/Preferences, category Documents), which works like an automatic bookmark in that it takes you back to the same place you were at when you last closed a document, is very useful, but apparently doesn't work with *all* documents.
- Does anyone know what determines whether a given document works with this option or not?
- Is this by design or a bug? A matter of PDF format version?
- Is there a way to work around the problem?
I've compared two documents, only one of which works with the option, to determine what the relevant difference may be, and found two suspects (under File/Properties): the PDF version (1.5 in the document that works, 1.4 in the one that doesn't), and 'Fast Web View' ('yes' in the document that works, 'no' in the one that doesn't).

This seems to be a problem with some PDF files.
Suggested workaround: If the PDF you have allows "Save As", then try save-as to a new file. The "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" option should then work as expected (in the new file).

Rotate View Tool Not Working

When I open any type of document in Photoshop CS4, the Rotate View Tool continually tells me that the:
"Could not complete your request because it only works with OpenGL enabled document windows"
I'm not sure what this means and would appreciate any advice. This tool would be very beneficial to me considering the type of work I do.

The message means that OpenGL has not been enabled, most likely because either your video card does not support the necessary OpenGL functions or the video driver needs to be updated to provide this support. In PS CS4 look at Edit > Preferences > Performance. Try to check on Enable OpenGL Drawing.

Is there any updates since February 2014 re: macbook pro not working with Smartboard?

My computer recognizes that it is attached but will not display what is on the desktop. I am currently running Snow Leopard on MacBook Pro and trying to project in onto a Smart Board 600 series. The MacBook Pro used to work with Smart Board; now, all of a sudden it does not work. And, sometimes it will project, but many times it simply will not. I am using a brand new adapter, and projection works with my Epson Powerlite 78 at home.
Smart Board refers me to Apple Support believing the conflict to be hardware. Incidentally, I downloaded Smartboard software to my MacBook Pro previously, but uninstalled it because it was causing crashes to my computer. But, users do not have to download SmartBoard software for projection.
Are there any possible solutions to my inquiry? Thank you for any considerations.

It sounds to me like you're having troubles with the wireless channels on the Home Hub.
Here's what I'd suggest you do: Download istumbler on your Mac (or inssider 2 on your PC) and use this to check which wireless channel you're currently on and if need be, change to a less congested channel.

Polygonal lasso tool not working with stylus on Surface Pro 2

Hi guys,
I'm new here so please bare with me if I'm posting in the wrong place or don't make immediate sense.
Hardeware / software used: surface pro 2 and I'm running photoshop CS5.
Problem is a fairly basic one: I am trying to make basic selections using the polygonal lasso tool (using the stylus that comes with the tablet) but it simply will not work. All I get when I touch the stylus to the screen is the circle that appears then fades. If I attach the keypad and try using that then it works no problem at all.
Does anyone have any ideas as to whether there is a particular setting that I need to switch on or off e.g. something relating to pressure sensitivity (although not sure why this would affect this particular selection tool)?
I've searched the web and come up with nothing so far so any help is greatly appreciated!

Fingerprint reader on Lenovo KUF0452 keyboard not working with Lenovo X1

Hi, I have a Lenovo KUF0452 keyboard with built-in fingerprint reader. Up until two weeks ago I had a two year old X1 Carbon laptop which co-existed happily with the keyboard - I could unlock Windows with a swipe of the keyboard's fingerprint reader. I've now replaced the old X1 with a brand new X1 Carbon and can no longer unlock Windows using the keyboard's fingerprint reader - I just get this error on the Windows 8.1 lock screen: "A match for the fingerprint was not found in the fingerprint database." I have the latest Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro installed and have used it to enroll a couple of fingerprints for the X1's fingerprint scanner, but when I try to use it to enroll fingerprints for the keyboard's scanner the app's progress bar doesn't move off 0%, so I assume the app isn't accepting the keyboard's fingerprint scanner as a valid input. The X1 is docked, with the lid shut, so I have no easy access to the laptop's fingerprint scanner which is why I want to use the keyboard's fingerprint scanner to unlock Windows. Can you try,
Remove the AC and the Battery
Hold the Power Button down for at least 15 sec.
Reconnect just the AC and see if that'll work
If not You can contact a Lenovo Support Team or a Local Technician to have the Keyboard connection checked.

List in mobile View comp not working with AIR 3.1

I've been using ViewNavigators and Views from the mobile mobilecomponents.swc in a couple of AIR desktop apps with out issue for some time now. For the last several months i've been building against Flex 4.5 with a merged in AIR 3.0 and everything has been great. Today I got arround to updating to FB 4.6. The release sdk with 4.6/3.1 is producing a very strange behavior that does not occur with 4.5/3.0.
Application has two components based on spark/Group that each contain a ViewNavigator. (GroupA, GroupB) These are loaded and unloaded with state changes within the main application mxml. There are two Views (ViewA, and ViewB) When GroupA loads it subsequently loads ViewA into its ViewNavigator, and likewise when GroupB is added to the stage it loads ViewB into it's ViewNavigator. There is a List in each of the two views. If GroupA and it's view ViewA are displayed first then everything works as expected, but when changing states to show GroupB and not GroupA then the list in ViewB does not respond to any input at all. If GroupB is the first to load then GroupA when loaded after will not behave properly.
The strange thing is that the same application when set to build with the merged sdk works without issue and passes all my tests. I can't find any notes on significant changes between 4.5 / 3.0 and 4.6 / 3.1. Am I missing some changlog somewhere with significant behavior changes from 3.0 to 3.1?

I eventually ended up deleting the affected keys from cacerts
To output the keys affected from {JAVA_HOME}\bin (Windows):

Reading the EDI X12 file not working with the patch 8233048

I have installed the latest path 8233048 on my windowsXP system, now I am not able to see the File being polled and processed.
In b2b.log I can see the last message as "oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.data.MsgListener:run start listening on message" after that no log.
In b2b_dc_transport.log, I can see only

This is working on b2b with only patch: 5907304 which is installed in another windows XP system.
The same configuration with the latest patch is not working.

I have restarted my system many times, not only B2B.
I have taken the print out of both the tip.properties and compared line by line and wanted to check out which line was making it not to function.
I added the mismatching lines one by one by one, it was working for all teh updates. Finally I changed it to my new tip.properties.
Then surprisingly it is working.

I have a Lenovo KUF0452 keyboard with built-in fingerprint reader. Up until a month ago I had a Lenovo X220 laptop which co-existed happily with the keyboard - I could unlock Windows with a swipe of the keyboard's fingerprint reader.

I believe it is the Lenovo B570 you're saying,
Try doing a power drain,
Remove AC adapter and Battery, then hold down the power button for at least 15 sec. this will drain off the power from the MOBO.
Reconnect everything and see if that works,
Also try using an external Keyboard to test out the Windows.
If that did not work I suggest Calling Lenovo Technical support for Hardware Concern.

Parameters not Working with Links

Hi everyone, I have a question about opening pdf files with hyperlinks. I am trying to open a pdf file to a specific page number with a hyperlink from a word document. The hyperlink I'm trying to use looks something like this:
file:///C:folder/file.pdf#page=5
As far as I can tell, that should open the pdf to the 5th page. But no matter hwat I've tried, the pdf is always opened to page 1. I've trying using various different word processing programs, and even opening the hyperlink with different pdf viewing programs. But even with Adobe reader, the pdf still always opens to page 1. I've also tried opening the file with other parameters, and none seem to work. Interstingly, if I copy and pase the link into my browser (but not open the link with my browser) it works as desired. But I'd rather not copy and paste the link every time I want to open it to the correct page.
So can anyone offer me a suggestion of why the parameter isn't correctly being applied when I open the document? I'd be really grateful for any help you can offer; thanks.

Turns out this only affects Firefox, a possible workaround is to set the browser to open new pages in a new window rather than a new tab. It looks like this workaround may work fine in FF 3.0x, but not in FF 3.5.
This was traced back to a bug in FF. A workaround solution is due to be put into SP3

Airport Express worked with previous ADSL modem, not working with new one

hello all.
maybe the majority of you people won't be able to help me, since i am in Brazil.
this is the story:
for the last 4 years i was a subscriber of the Speedy ADSL provider (in conjunction with the Terra content provider). the Sppedy service is part of the Telefonica telephone company and uses the regular telephone infrastructure to provide the ADSL signal thru telephone lines.
approximately 2 years ago i bought an Airport Express and set it up with the ADSL modem that Speedy provided to me. configuration was a breeze and it worked flawlessly since then.
as of last thursday (april 7th) i became a subscriber of the Ajato ADSL provider. the Ajato company is part of the TVA (cable tv) company and uses the TVA cable tv infrastructure to provide the ADSL signal.
the problem is: when i connect the Cisco DPC3000 ADSL modem to my Macbook via ethernet cable, i can surf the internet with Ajato with no problems. but when i connect the modem to my Airport Express (even though i have reset AE in order to clear the previous Speedy/Terra configuration), i get no internet in my home wireless network.
i know you guys don't have Ajato there, of course. but i suppose some of you might have faced similar problems in similar cable ADSL environments.
this said, any kind of help or hint is greatly appreciated.

First that Cisco DPC3000 is a cable modem, not a ADSL modem. You probably don't need the DSL configuration that you had before.

How did you "reset" the AE? How is it configured now? You probably need a setting of "Connect Using:" "Ethernet", rather than the "PPPoE" setting you may have had before.
If everything else looks good, it's common to have to reset a modem when switching what device is connected to it. Try powering down the modem for a few minutes. If it has a reset switch, press that.

Retouch tool not working with grayscale images

Upgraded to both Snow Leopard and Aperture 2.1.4 yesterday. Today I notice that the retouch tool doesn't effect black and white images. Still works fine with color, but not BW. Don't know if it's SL, 2.1.4, or both, but really annoying, as much of my photography is BW negs, and almost every scan requires some retouching for dust, hairs, etc.
Is this a know issue that's being addressed? Tried merely reverting to Aperture 2.1.3, but that installer doesn't execute --- says "Aperture 2.0 or later required for this update", then quits.

Having a similar issue here too. Found this thread after doing a search as I've just started editing some old B/W images I had scanned ages ago.
Slightly different here though, I'm only seeing this on some images, not all. All my images were scanned at a similar time, on the same scanner, using similar settings when scanned (greyscale, jpg etc.). Some of the B/W ones will clone/repair fine, others do nothing.
I can see where they differ too. When they work, you can see the area smudging as the tool is drawn over the defect. On images were it doesn't work, the defect is visible through the repair marker.
These aren't mission critical luckily, as they're only some family photos I'm tarting up.
However, surely such tools in Aperture are just a bonus. It is essentially a media manager, and is clearly stated that more advanced editing will need an external app.
It is a shame that these don't work too well though. Like some other comments, I also seem to find other tools almost useless - sharpening and noise reduction to name a couple.

View Report not working with CVI 9?

Hi:
We recently installed the CVI 9 run time engine on several of our stations. However, now we're seeing a problem where the 'View Report' button on the batch and parallel model result panels no longer work. If you try to view the report, the panel freezes instead.
I've verified this problem with the default Teststand Full Featured CVI User Interface and the default modelsupport2 files. We are running Teststand 4.0.1f1.
Any idea what is going on? The report button works if we run from the sequence editor or downgrade back to CVI 8.1.

Thanks for reporting this. I've already been able to reproduce the behavior on my machine with TestStand 4.1.1 and CVI 9.0 installed using both the Batch and Parallel Process Models.
As a result, this was reported to R&D (#138134) for further investigation. We will treat this with high priority.

Subselection tool not working with IK joint?

Greeting all!
Just starting to use IK bone tool. Having trouble with subselection tool on IK joints.
Its works on joints of shape armatures,I click it and I can reposition it. Why doesnt it work on movieclip armatures?
Has anyone had the same problem?

It could be the old problem of something else running in the background. What other porgrammes/applications do you have operating at the same time? Turn them off and see if the problem disappears

Colour replacement tool not working

I have a jpeg file loaded into Photoshop CS6. This is a black logo on a white background. The colour replacement tool has no effect on this (I want to change the black to another colour)
I have read somewhere that the tool doesnt work with black and white? is that correct and if so, how do i get the colour changed

Hi Cjacs,
You may try using blending modes to achieve your desired result. Starting with a black and white logo:
1) Create a new fill layer by going to Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color.
2) At the first dialog box, click OK. Then choose the color you want the artwork to be.
3) You logo artwork will then be hidden, but don't worry! We'll using blending modes to change this.
4) In the Layers Panel, look for the area where it says "Normal." This is where you change the blend mode. Open this dropdown menu and select Screen.
5) Your artwork will then be changed to the color you chose before.
