Since regrade no increase in Upload Speed? Is this...
Hi all,
My BT Infinity has now been upgraded to the 80/20 service for just over a week. The download speed has doubled from 35 Meg to circa 70 Meg. But the upload speed is stuck at circa 7 Meg, which is good but it hasn't increased from the 40/10 service. I would expect the upload to be circa 14 Meg. Is there a reason why? Is there anyway to increase the upload speed even at the expense of download speed?
Thanks
Download speedachieved during the test was - 72.43 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 12 Mbps-77.43 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 77.43 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 7.68Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
Try the upload speed test at http://mcslhr.visualware.com/myspeed/myspeed_line_capspeed.html. The bt tester grossly underestimates upload speed, especially if you have significant latency. It was giving mine as around 6 or 8, when a proper tester (as above) or a good real site was giving 17.
If you have problems with the capspeed tester above (it sometimes has Java issues), http://speedtest.net/ still suffers a little from underestimating upload, but not nearly as badly as the BT tester. It gave 12 or 13 at the same time I was getting the above results.
Now my line and latency are improved the differences are there but smaller: capspeed 17.0, speedtest 15.7, BT wholesale 13.7, BT retail 9.17.

I have the Jetpack 4GLTE, what is the Mbps download and upload speeds for this device?
The avgrage real speed will be more in the area of 25 to 38 Mbps You would need to be in a strong signal area with high grade cell tower service and low customer use to even reach 50 Mbps.
From Verizon page. Just be aware that using the MiFi 6620L can cost a lot of money. And you can thank the device's fast performance for that. In my testing around the San Francisco Bay Area, rathe device delivered blazing-fast download speeds that nged between around 10Mbps to around 40Mbps. At those speeds, you can burn through 4GB of data in just less than an hour. Once you reach the cap, of course, you'll have to pay somewhere between $10 to $15 for each additional gigabyte, depending on the plan you sign up for.

Has B.T increased there upload speeds
I was wondering if B.T has upped there upload speeds, none of my friends have actually received the increase and as i don't have B.T Infinity myself yet i can't check either. My checker says this:
Your cabinet is planned to have WBC FTTC by 31st December 2011. Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 32.9 Mbps and upstream line speed of 13.3 Mbps.
Was just actually wondering if anyone has actually received a significant speed increase of their upload? or is this going to happen at a later date?

Will a new router increase my broadband speed in this configuration
How much (if at all) can I increase my broadband speed by getting a faster router. Here's my config:
DSL line --> DSL modem --> Lynksys BEFSR41 Router --> Ethernet cat-5 wiring in house --> TimeCapsule WiFi
The computers using this network are an Intel iMac (10.6), a PowerPC iMac (10.4), and two Intel MacBooks (10.6).
The modem/router are located in an in-wall distribution box in a utility room. I want to keep the hardwired ethernet available in case the WiFi quits temporarily. The TimeCapsule is in a good location (top shelf bookcase on first floor) for coverage of my 2-story house. In principle could eliminate the Lynksys modem, and use the TC as the primary router, but it would be difficult to physical locate the TC where it could both distribute to the house ethernet and have good radio reception.
Testing via the hardwire ethernet (using Speakeasy and speedtest.net) shows download and upload speed 1.27Mbps and 0.32Mb/s. My ISP is pacbell.net. I get the same result via my W-Fi. Speedtest.net tells me my result is about 40% of the average for pacbell.net to my zip code 94301.
I've heard there are much faster routers than the BEFSR41, but I don't know if my internet speed is limited by my current router or by pacbell's DSL service.
Any insights would be appreciated. Will a new router increase my broadband speed
No...your speed is only going to be as fast as your weekest link, which in your case is the DSL modem and the connection speed package you subsribe to. -
Increasing the Upload and if possible download speed of Linksys X3000
Hi I'd like some assitance in increasing my download an dupload speeds of my Linksys X3000.
Mian reason I want to increase them for include:
1- TwitchTV hardly ever loads properly for me, what methods can I go about to make it stream normally?
2- Here's my SpeedTest results:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/2820023231.png
I'd like to increase my upload speed as I never manage to get a good connection with friends from the mid east and in europe and USA when I play on my PS3. As is, my upload speed based on the PS3's Network Test is between 0.5-0.7 MBPS but never goes higher than that.
What options should I alter in 192.168.1.1 to get the desired results?Port forwarding or on turning on DMZ would help if your issue is regarding unable to connect to server and the like. If your concern is regarding slow download and upload speed, then you need to ask your internet server provider if how much speed they are giving you. In the event that the problem is with the router then you can try the following:
Upgrade the router’s firmware
Reset the router
Check this link: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=fbf8e8564632422eaa8ea80bf9dcba64_386.xml&pid=80&re... to know on how to change the router’s mtu size

How do I increase upload speed?
How can I increase my upload speed to match my download speed? Currently getting 15Mbps dowloan and only 1.9 Mbps upload. Road Runner says its an issues with the router and not their network. I've alread powered down the router and disconnected it from the modem. I've plugged everything back in and noticed an increase in upload speed, but not download speed.
Upload speeds are never the same as download speeds for home broadband. Road Runner (whatever that is) is incorrect.

Upload Speed Shockingly Slow - Answer: Annex M?
Hello BT.
Fibre is not an option at my exchange at the moment. My internet connection works, is 100% stable, and this question is purely about increasing my upload speed.
My download speed is a nice 8Mbps, but my upload speed is 0.19Mbps. This is completely unusable, posting a large photo to facebook is almost imposible, and posting a video to youtube is practically impossible. It's shockingly slow.
I'm on the top residential BT Broadband package unlimited which I believe is ADSL 2+. I've read about a product called Annex M that I know BT offer as an option. This allows you to trade some download speed for upload speed.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITU_G.992.5_Annex_M
Could I please have Annex M enabled on my account, as I would prefer to loose some download speed and get some faster download speed?
If so, what do I ask for when I call BT sales?
If not, why not?
And if not, what *can* I do to add an extra product / pay extra to increase my obismal upload speed?CRS2L wrote:
QUOTE: Hi CRS2L, You could consider bonding 2 or more lines. You may find this useful :- http://www.increasebroadbandspeed.co.uk/2014/bonding-three-four-ADSL-connections Best regards, dfenceman
Thanks, but I want to maximise the one connection I have. Getting two connections is not really viable for me. I just want to increase my upload speed. If that means loosing a bit of download speed, then so be it.
I only suggested it as you did say you were prepared to pay to get an increase in upload speed.
Unfortunately you cannot trade download speed for upload speed.
Until such time as FTTC is available to you bonding is the only real way.
Best regards,

Download and Upload speeds have been dropping sinc...
I have recently been having seriously problems with my connection, every day the router appears to reset/crash, sometimes once and sometimes more than several times a day.
This was the speed I was getting in December, everything was fine.
Now this is the speed that I am getting.
I'm not sure how this is happening but I have been able to confirm that it isn't an issue within my household, there is only have one master socket which the router is connected to along with a wireless phone thats connected to it.
This is what the results that I got from the router.

I see Imjolly was giving you a hand with this on another thread.
We still need to try and get you connected via the test socket to rule out external wiring and possible swap over micro-filters too.
I note you mentioned you have an I-plate. Take this off, as it could be faulty, as you will then see the test socket. If possible connect up via Ethernet and leave for a day or two and see if this stops the drops.
Its also important to look out for other sources of interference. You can see a list of common offenders on this link.
If you have tried this out and are still having problems drop me in an email please with your BT account and telephone number along with a link back to this thread.
Just send using the contact us form in my profile under the 'about me' section and mark FAO Craig please.

Is it possible to increase upload speeds?
My upload speed is reported as being 0.31mbps by BT's own speed tester, and checking with speedtest.net gave a somewhat similar 0.34mbps today (though this moves around a lot between 0.05 and 0.25 normally).
Is there a way of boosting this?

Extremely slow Wi-Fi upload speeds since upgrading
Hi everyone, apologies in advance if there's an answer to this buried somewhere here or on the 'net but I promise, I've been looking for and trying solutions for a while and just cannot crack this one.
Since upgrading to Mountain Lion my upload speed seems to be 'throttled' to a virtual standstill when using my iMac's Wi-Fi. Downloads however are fine. Weird or what??
Using Filezilla as an FTP client I can see the exact connection speed in real-time and the same thing always happens - for about 3 seconds the connection is great, then it suddenly drops to somewhere around dial-up speeds. Restarting the Wi-Fi repeats this - fast for a couple of seconds then back down again.
I've played merry **** with my ISP and they replaced the router and checked the cabling - but it's not their fault it turns out though as using a wired ethernet connection works fine (on my Xbox I play on Xbox Live as well - again, no problems). Another way I'm sure it's not the router is that as well as replacing it, my iPhone can upload to, say, Facebook no probs via Wi-Fi.
I read about problems with Time Machine so, even though they relate to a wireless Time Capsule, I unplugged and switched it off and, weirdly, that solved it apparently... for about 1 day. Now I have all my external drives unplugged - I have quite a few - but I can't recreate the 'solution'.
I'm sure it's not the site as it happens on several - Facebook, Mixcrate, Dropbox...
I've updated Java, all three of my browsers (Safari of course, Firefox and Chrome) and still no joy.
Other things I've tried - switched off the OS X firewall, switched off the Avast antivirus program, changed the DNS settings and deleted the SystemConfiguration folder as decribed in this article - http://blog.macsales.com/14629-mountain-lion-has-wi-fi-issues - umm, I think that's everything I've tried?!?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance guys - BrettI thin you did everthing you can.
If you connect to another network do you still have the problem? -
Very low Upload Speed. How can I increase this?
Hi there, new to the forums with my post.
I'm a frequent online gamer and have the Bt unlimited package as a result. However over the past month I've been experiencing high latency spikes or just high latency in general upward of 1000ms. Naturally this makes any form of gaming impossible. During this past month I've conducted many speed tests and only recently discovered that my upload speeds are ridiculously low, ranging from 0.02mbps to a maximum of 0.06mbps. I believe this is what is causing my lag issues.
My question is. What can I do to resolve this and raise my upload speed to an acceptable standard?

Why does Telstra slow uploads speed down
I have had ongoing issues with my internet connection over the last 18 mouths.Having a upload speed of 450/650 Kbps very slow no good for gaming an down load of 8/11Mbps down load if more than I needTo the point I have spent good dollars try to insuring that the infrastructures and the Asset Integrity with in house are in best condition this includes the replacement and work listed belowReplacement of the Wi-Fi system to a Cat.6 cabling at a cost of $2,300Replacement of the modem with a high speed 1G port modem at cost of $ 475Replacement of the fly-lead for the Telstra house connection to the new wall socket a cost of $360Total cost of $3135 this spend was braced on Telstra recommendation as the problem was with my part of the connection after a large number of call to my internet provider I at last had a appointment with a Telstra Tec to carry line testing and fault finding .At this point if no fault was found I was the be billed at $60 per 15min or part off and travel cost as I live in Bullsbrook WA this may I high . Lucky for me a fault was found in the exchange and reconfigured and the speed and the Exchange improved to 22Mbps down and 15 Mbps up an outstanding numbers >test at the house 15Mbps and so 5 / 7 Mbps loss for the Exchange to house don’t to good but still very happy with it BUT the upload was 650 kbps /750Kbps and please remember this testing was carry out by Telstra with good equipment so at this point I ask why the upload was so slow? After spending over $2000 and lot of time on the phone only to be told that Telstra slow the upload speed down so the max you can get is 1 Mbps and the only way you can increase this is by paying for a business line but you still may not get any more than 1MbpsThis is only a very small part of the story SO I LIKE TO ASK WHY IS TELSTRA SLOWING ME DOWNIf you like to know more please let me know
Hi bigdave618,
The simple answer is, that's the way the system and hardware is designed, all ISP's are the same. Uploads are limited to around 1Mbps. If you wish to get higher upload speeds you can see if Cable Broadband or NBN are available in your area as these systems allow for higher upload speeds.
Upload speeds are generally slower than download speeds because of the fact that most internet connected equipment is asymmetric. Asymmetric means that any one packet of data can either go in, or out, but not both ways at the same time. Since most internet users are receiving more data than sending, the internet connected equipment has shifted the higher majority of the signals to go toward downloading.
If you wish to find out more about ADSL I have added a link to a Wikipedia article below along with the link to the NBN and Telstra websites so you can check to see if Cable Broadband or NBN is available in your area.
ADSL Wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asymmetric_digital_subscriber_line
Check for available Telstra Cable Broadband: https://www.telstra.com.au/broadband/home-broadband
Check to see if NBN is available in your area: http://www.nbnco.com.au/connect-home-or-business/check-your-address.html

Hi all,
Yesterday I had an engineer call to resolve a fault on my line. Each time my house phone was used, my infinity 2 internet signal went down. He did find a wiring fault in the socket box and since then I happily have no further problem with losing internet signal being lost.
Sadly, my upload speed has reduced from 2000kb per sec to 20kb per sec. I've rebooted the router but to no avail. Any suggestions.
Thanks, PeterHi Peter,
How are things with your connection? It sounds like the DLM (Dynamic Line Management) equipment in the exchange has lowered your profile to try and improve the stability of your connection. As long as the fault has been fixed your should see the speeds increase as long as the connection remains stable.
Thanks

Infinity upload speeds atrocious at 0.67mbps
Hi,
We have recently upgraded to Infinity broadband with promised speeds of 36 mbps Download and 9 mbps upload.
Allowing ten days for the 'settling in' period we acheived the following using BT's own speed test:
dnload = 34.5
upload = 0.67
Ping = 352.50
This is pretty much the average achieved at different times of day and was also the speeds achieved using Speedtest.net etc all carried out with one laptop on the network via lan cable.
As you can see the upload is atrocious and the ping speed is extremely high.
We called BT customer services and after being told that "Upload speed wasn't important" ( Obviously not an online gamer ) we managed to get the agent to accept the upload speeds were not acceptable and they carried out some tests. They said they had found a network issue in our area and another engineer visit was arranged.
Second Open Reach engineer visit
The engineer arrived and after a quick chat about what the issue was he set about his work.
The engineer was working on the job for about two hours before he came back and said he had looked at all of the kit and checked the lines and as far as he was concerned the line passed the OpenReach acceptable standards test plus he was unable to do anything with the Upload speed.
He gave us a description of what he called "Cable Fill" being the likely reason our Upload speeds never achieve anywhere near those promised, but he did state he had managed to increase our download speed to nearer 40 mbps, the below are now a reflection of the average speeds we are currently getting, as you can see they have actually gotten worse.
dnload = 12.11
upload = 0.67
Ping = 350.50
Before we head down the road of complaining to BT I thought posting on the forum may turn up some valuable advice and further possible explanations as to why our Broadband is not achieving full promised speeds.
Regards

Thanks for the contact ChristopherP, we will fill out the form asap.
Latest as of today
Girlfriend ( account holder ) phoned BT customer services again.
Again we were greeted by another scripted robot. Here is what they had to say
- We were told that 'Upload' speed was not important again and there was nothing they could do about it.
- They had no idea what 'Cable Fill' was.
- Told us to turn the hub on/off as often as possible ( we did this and have continued to do this since first installation with absolutely no improvement whatsoever )
- Only to use Bt Wholesale test ( Common sense surely ? I already use to retrieve the results I post on here )
- They would call back after arranging another engineer visit
GF called at 12:40pm this afternoon and we have not yet received a call back - Nothing new, this is about the fourth time this has occured.
Todays results as of 19:50 9/8/2013
Download Speed (Mbps): 17.00
Upload Speed (Mbps): 0.66
Ping Latency(ms): 208.75
Download speed achieved during the test was - 17 Mbps
