Since safari 5.1.2 other apps not working :(

Hola!
Since I ran the safari 5.1.2 update, my internet has been sluggish, Chrome crashes on launch, Firefox bounces twice in the dock then nothing & Unison screams at me that it can't access the cache folder.
After I first installed it I was asked for my user name & password on every finder action which I found suspicious but a reboot fixed that.
I've AppDeleted Chrome & Firefox twice & reinstalled both twice to no avail.
Same with unison.
I've run Disk Utiltiy in both normal & recovery mode.
I've Time Machined chrome & firefox back in.
I've run MacPilot & thrown pretty much every available maintenance script at it.
I've even disabled all my fonts as they can be little monkeys at times.
One thing that struck me as odd was when the Safari updater ran it said something like (& I'm really paraphrasing here as I took little notice at the time) 'altering permissions & optimising system for installation'
Or something.
Liek I say, didn't pay much attantion other than "Hmm, not seen it say that before"
Anyone else having similar issues?
Oh, before anyone asks, I need all browsers for testing websites, plus I also use a separate browser for the kids to Moshi Monster etc on

How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space. Freeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac Guides

Nokia Social, some other apps not working on 701/B...

I have a 701 on which I recently installed Belle FP1 and the Microsoft Apps.
Immediately after the FP1 upgrade, I think that everything except Google maps worked, but now, a few weeks later, several apps have stopped working, most notably Nokia Social. When I try to start Social, I get the 'welcome to social' screen, then a spinning circle, then Social closes with no error message.
I have similar problems when I try to open Bloomberg and RamInfo apps and a game called color line, all of which worked until recently.
I have deleted and reinstalled all the Social components (1.5.216, available from the store and from the software updater) but it makes no difference. The same is true of the other apps that don't work. I have also reinstalled the FP1 firmware (112.010.1404 via Nokia Suite), which also changes nothing.
Everything else seems to work properly, except that Nokia Maps also sometimes, closes when I try to open it, although it always works on the second or third attempt.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions on how to fix this.

Thanks for your comments. I haven't managed to get it workding yet, although I have discovered one more piece of information. Every time I try to run Social (just the app, not even the widget) the background program 'AllWrtWidgets' stops running. I can only get it running again by re-starting the phone.
How might this be related to my problem, and does it suggest a fix?
I haven't tried a hard reset, because I know from experience that this deletes some apps loaded by Nokia Taiwan (including a very useful English<->Chinese dictionary) which are not reinstalled with a either a new firmware or a backup restore. So after a hard reset I will end up going to Nokia Care anyway, and they will do a fresh install whatever the problem.

Google and other apps not working

Hi,
I have a BB 8100 pearl that I purchased in the US with T-Mobile. After some time I moved to India and unlocked the phone. Now when I surf the internet, I click on the "t symbol" for accessing the internet. I have already downloaded the apps for google and facebook. But the problem now is that I'm not able to install these apps. Is there any setting that I need to enable/disable to use these apps? I have the icons on my menu screen but there is some problem in running these. I am using Vodafone service in India.
Please help!!

First you said you could not install these apps. Then you said they would not work (which would imply that they installed fine). Can you please clarify? And, while your at it, can you provide the exact error messages that you see? Exact symptoms? Details help...a lot.
Further -- did you, with your new carrier, purchase a Blackberry Data Plan? If not, that could as well explain why the apps won't work.

you mentioned that Terminal does not work at all for your MacBook Pro. What currently happens when you run Terminal? In what way does it not work?

May be slightly simple question from a new Mac user: Why can't I quit safari? I cannot quit it from top menu bar neither to do it from dock? All other apps are working normally.

Or you can actived the right button on your magic mouse and click on they icon in the dock. then you select "stop" and it's out of your dock.

I installed a new printer and Acrobat Pro is not listing it as an option in the drop down box. Other apps are working. Printer is networked, platform is Windows.

sorry, other apps are working fine and finding the new printer. HP Officejet 8620.

I've rebooted numerous times, reloaded the software twice, spent 4 hrs on the phone with HP and 2 with Adobe. No luck. It simply doesn't show the new printer in the drop down menu for Pro or Reader and yet shows time in all in Office, Paint, Web options. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Apps Not Working In Airplane Mode

I have an iPhone 4 running version 4.3.5. I am on the island of Ibiza in the Med off the coast of Spain.
There is no cell service available on the island. I have access to a wi-fi network where I'm staying.
I am in Airplane Mode with 3G, cellular data and data roaming turned off. I am connected to a wi-fi network.
I can send and receive email on my iPhone.
Here's my perdicament. The majority of my Apps will not open. As stated, the Mail App works.
Safari, The App Store, The iTunes Store Apps work. But every other App just flashes for a second,
when touched, but will not open.
I really need access to the other Apps on my iPhone.
Any help or solution is appreciated.

I manually turned WiFi back on and my iPhone automatically connected to the WiFi network
enabling my Mail App, Safari and the Apple Stores Apps to work as usual. But all other Apps will not launch.

Oh phooey. I had the same problem, so I decided to delete and reinstall. Only to discover that Google's YouTube app no longer supports anything below iOS 6. This is a problem since I'm running an original iPad.
Yes, I realize that my version of iOS still has the old YouTube app. But it's not the same. For one thing there are a lot of ad-supported videos that will only play in the new app.

I have a lot of apps not working after upgrade even apple's remote, splash id etc... Anyone else or is it just me?

I had trouble with MPR, but since it's free, I just deleted it and reloaded it directly from the App store onto the phone. It had an upgrade, too, that must have clashed with the 2.2 upgrade. Once I did the download, it was fine.

if your youtube was already running then I would exit out of the application completely by double clicking your home button and then search for your youtube app on the row that will show below and then press and hold down the youtube icon and then click the "X" to exit out of it. Afterwards try to reopen youtube and play a video to see if it works

I wanted to add something here that may or may not be accurate, since I was suffering the exact same issues (on an iPhone 6+, and replicated on an iPhone 5 patched to 8.0) you were describing Nick. In an effort to trouble shoot this I picked up one of the third party tools that allows you onto the iOS device file system. I've been trying since Friday night to reproduce the conditions that cause the issue but haven't quite narrowed it down. Including this here in case the Engineers are poking around in the discussion boards and are trying to reproduce this.
This is an iPhone 6+ running 8.0 (12A366) connecting physically to iTunes 11.4 on a MBP running 10.9.5 (13F34; fully patched).
Here's what I did last night and this seems to have worked (meaning, I can sync music now without issue at least for syncs this morning; will confirm tonight by syncing again):
Turned off iTunes Match on the iTunes library I am syncing from
Unchecked all non-AAC music files (Apple lossless and MPEG audio both; these were just flat out refusing to copy over, claiming to have copied but coming up with the exclamation point when accessed on the device via iTunes; none of these lossless or mp3 files have been an issue in any previous version of iOS, meaning they are all of the correct sample and bitrate to be used and can sync to other devices in the household running iOS 7)
Removed all music from the iOS device (by deselecting music syncing)
Hard rebooted the iOS device after disconnecting it; rebooted the iTunes library host
Reconnected the iOS device and fired up the third party app (this is the part I do not recommend, but I was eager to try to figure out what the root cause was)
Removed the iTunes library files on iOS (this is something I had done between other factory resets earlier to force the iOS device to rebuild the library; to rule out library corruption)
Removed any "music" folders remaining on the iOS device (this is also something I had done a few times which had had no effect)
Removed any saved artwork (this was something I had not done before, but I too had noticed a strange correlation between it stopping working and the artwork being synced)
Disconnected and rebooted the iOS device again (forcing a recreation of the iTunes library database files)
Reconnected the device and started syncing small playlists (50-100 songs). In increments it all seems to be syncing up now without issue
The two new steps this time around that seem, at least at initial glance, to have solved the problem are stopping syncing any non-AAC music media files and the deletion of the existing artwork folders on the iOS device. Syncing appears to be working, even after disconnecting and reconnecting the device.
