Since the last two Firefox updates, I can no longer open a new tab by clicking on it or using the options under file (new tab). Nothing works. Please help!
Control T doesn't work either.
The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

Quit Mail and restart.
Select each of your mailboxes and select Rebuild under the Mailboxes menu.
If those don't help, then reinstall Yosemite:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.

Firefox worked great. I have been using it for years. When i completed the recent update to 3.6.13, the new tab button/extension little + box quit working. I can click and nothing happens. I right click, get the drop down menu but nothing works. I cannot open a blank tab or windwo as when i want to go somewhere new without closing windows i have open. The only way i can access a new tab is if i go to my bookmarks and open one then use that screen to go where i wanted to go. I've had to switch to Google Chrome to complete tasks i need done online, but it doesn't let me do a lot of what i want to.
I'll try to make this clear. I USED to be able to left click on a hyper link and the hyper link would open in a NEW tab. Now for some unknown reason the hyper link by default opens in the same tab (window). I have to right click the hyper link in order for it to open in a NEW tab. (Yes, my 'tools'> 'options'> 'tabs' are set to "open new windows in a new tab." (Please no answers telling me to get rid of the Ask toolbar because I don't have one.) Thank you.

Since IOS8 update I can no longer open .rtf files in Safari
We have a system at work where by we have a lot of emails saved in our records as .rtf files. We access these on our iPad through safari by visiting our website, on the previous IOS they could just be opened within safari and they popped up in a new tab. Since the update they do not open, instead we get an error message dying that the file cannot be opened- "unable to read document, An error occurred while reading the document.".
Is there a fix for this?I have the same problem with Safari, it will not open any Rich Text File attachments in Gmail. I can see people thinking why is he using Gmail in safari? Two co-workers and I share a work related account and important stuff comes in by RTF file, the duty person can see it instantly there.
Anyway, I need to open RTF files using safari. A process of elimination, I found a free App that will let you "Open in" when you get an attachment in the mail.
IT is Called RTF Write by Mach Software Design.
(Apple you guys still need to pull your finger out and sort the IOS8 Issues. The RTF problem has been reported as a "Bug") -
I have used Firefox for some time and have enjoyed the bsend a link feature in the File drop dwon menu. Since installing Firefox 4 this feature no longer works. I click the option and nothing happens. In preferences and applications the mailt0 icon on the far left is not as distinct as it was and the option is set to googlemail which is correct. I have an Apple mac and also installed Firefox 4 and send a link works on the mac with no problem!

As I stated, I have Windows 7 on my laptop and have installed Firefox 5. I sometimes like to have multiple windows of the browser open. But, unlike any previous version of Firefox, now when I have the browser open, when I try to open a new window using the Start menu, it will not open one. I have to use Ctrl+N. Why did this change?
This may seem insignificant but it really hampers my work flow. For one, with other applications, Shift+N is what opens a new window. For two, I've been doing with with my browsers for years now and it's like second nature for me - having to remember that in Firefox it's Ctrl+N is a pain in my tuccus.
Firefox is my go to browser and I would like it to stay that way. Please find the solution for me! I have tried looking using Tools, Options, as well as looking at my start menu and taskbar options, and no dice.Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I have uninstalled firefox and reinstalled firefox to try and solve this
issue, but it has not fixed the issue. To open a new tab I must right click
any current page link to get a new browser tab and then navigate to a new web address. This is a recent issue that just started happening and I can't figure out what happened or what got disabled. Please help me fix this.Try uninstalling the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
