Since the latest "update" Firefox crashes every time I open it

Since the latest Firefox update, the browser crashes every time I open it. Sometimes I get the "this is embarrasing screen" which asks to restore or start a new session. Either one has the same results - another crash.

    Crash ID: bp-fd8d9b45-e638-46ac-85a4-676d22130205

This is caused by a file on your computer called datamngr.dll, can you search and find that file?

  • What did the installation of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 changed in the system because after that Firefox crashes every time when opened?

My system worked normally but after I installation CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 Firefox crashes every time I try to open it. I've tried disabling plugins and add-ons but with no success. Reinstallation of Firefox hasn't helped. But as I this has happened to me on a couple of other computers too, I've been able pin point the source of problem to installation of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 (and earlier versions, too).
Firefox can be opened without problems in safe mode or in Windows XP SP3 compatiblity mode. Does Firefox use some different system components then?
I am using 32-bit Windows7 and latest version of Firefox.

It is possible that the CorelDRAW program installed extra fonts on your computer and that Firefox is having a problem with one or more of them.
You can use one of these to start Firefox in <u>Safe mode</u>:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
*On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
*Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
You can also do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • Firefox crashes every time I open it, within seconds, so I can't fix anything in the toolbars (if that's where the problem is).

Every time I open Firefox, even in Safe Mode, it crashes within 5 seconds. It's not enough time to make changes in the toolbars at top. The page says "Well, this is embarrassing..." and when it crashes it takes me to Mozilla Crash Reporter. I opened Fontbook, eliminated bad fonts, and that didn't help. I'm working on a Mac OS X 10.8.4 and Chrome works fine. There don't appear to be any malware problems. I've looked through all the help forums and none of them have contained suggestions that solve my problem.

Hello SEHW, we're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing when you open it. Please do the following to give us crash IDs that will help us understand more about the crash.
#Click the '''Finder''' icon in the dock. On the menu bar, click the '''Go''' menu, hold down the '''option''' or '''alt''' key and select '''Library'''. A window will open containing your Library folder. Then open the "Application Support" folder, the "Firefox" folder, the "Crash Reports" folder and finally the "submitted" folder.
#Open the 5 most recent files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID with '''bp-''' into the reply window on the forums.
    Thanks in advance!

  • My Firefox crashes every time I open it and none of the steps in the database solve the problem. My crash signature is PaintFrame(nsIRenderingContext*, nsIFrame*, nsRegion const&, unsigned int, unsigned int)

I tried opening it in safe mode and none of the other help tips in the database on firefox crashes when I open it apply to me. I also ran a couple of virus programs to check for any infections and found nothing. I had been having issues with java previous to firefox beginning to crash. So I attempted to uninstall java from my computer but it did not help.
My crash signature is PaintFrame(nsIRenderingContext*, nsIFrame*, nsRegion const&, unsigned int, unsigned int) and a search of this term on Mozilla Support pulled up no results.
I'm not terribly knowledgeable with programming so any suggestions would help!

I read online about a "clean reinstall" of firefox which seems to have worked! They should include direction on this on their page: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+crashes+when+you+open+it

  • Firefox crashes every time after opening an attachment

Hello, the problem I am having is EVERY TIME I open an attachment from email.
I use Yahoo email. I've tried the recommended solutions I've read on here with no luck.
Even updated to the latest version of Firefox. Still no luck.
I can open an attachment but after I close it, Firefox ALWAYS crashes.
What could I be missing that will resolve this problem?
I was using Windows Vista but now Windows 7 and same problem on both platforms.

Weeks of TRASH = FIREFOX 3.66
All three of my computers have been totally worthless since I upgraded to FF3.66. Each are built/configured differently. Each has a different OS. Each has all the above problems. Crashes constantly, RAM & CPU usage on a Q9650 is always near 100%. After screwing around for days I finally came here and found out that I was among a very large and upset group of users. With the last few upgrade I've had minor problems with my selection of add-ons Firefox disabled them for a later fix. I found a new DL today, 3.67 so I installed it figuring the problem was addressed. After installation of 3.67 it still says it's 3.66??
I went to their site to find help from them and couldn't get anyplace until I came here and read about my problem. Thanks for giving me a clear head so I could find a good solution.
My solution was to remove all Mozilla/Firefox products and then install other browsing options. It felt funny because for the first time in years I had to use Microsoft Internet Explorer to find other options. My computer is problem free and fast as usual now.
I wonder how many other users have abandoned them due to this BS?? I for one will probably stick with my new choices now.
YES, Weeks of TRASH = FIREFOX 3.66

  • Firefox crashes every time I open it and try to go between pages, I can not use firefox, help

I converted my new computer from an old one about a week ago.
Every time I open Firefox, it either crashes immediately or once I try to go between pages it crashes. I get a window that says Firefox quite Unexpectedly. Apple Care worked on this with me.
We opened Firefox in Test Mode, the crashes did not happen.
I would like to use Firefox, it is much better than Safari, but not being able to get help for Firefox; I have no choice.
I don't know how to submit information to Mozilla, therefore I have no crash ID.

With Test mode, do you mean starting Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • My firefox crashes every time I open it.

I was removing another program from my computer, when that was completed I went to reopen firefox. Upon doing so, firefox will no longer open. It crashes every time I try. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but I am unable to do that as well.

  • Since the last update, Firefox crashes constantly if the "Rewind and Fastforward Buttons" add-on is enabled: is there a solution, please?

Since the crashing started yesterday, I have opened Ff in safe mode, disabled all the add-ons and then re-enabled them (all except the Rewind etc. one) and Ff now seems to be stable again. The Rewind is a very valuable add-on and I regret very much having to disable it. The last crash report ID is below.

    Alex,
Thank you for referring me to the add-ons page. The edition of "Rewind..." it advises is the one that I have been using and is now causing the crashes, so obviously, and very reluctantly, I shall have to do without it! Are there any developers out there, I wonder, who can come to the rescue?
    Thanks again.

  • Firefox crashes EVERY TIME i open it. Help please!!!

All of a sudden, my firefox crashed on me, and every time I try to re-open it, it keeps on crashing.
I tried everything on here: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes%20when%20you%20open%20it#w_not-running-the-latest-version-of-firefox
It doesn't load on safe mode.
I don't know what to do. Please help...

Alice... I was not seeking an answer, as this was the solution that was causing mine to crash after updating firefox and flash. After much frustration, this solved it for me. I posted in all the forums where others were having a crash, as it may be the same problem and they seem to be related to what I was having. It was posted in the hopes it would solve their problem. All they can do is try it..... Then the group at Mozilla.org can work out why Firefox with the latest flash needs admin rights or not. I also have zone alarm set pretty high on security... so it could be that it does need to be run as admin... it is worth a try...

  • Java 7, Update 55 Crashes Every Time I Open My Email

    Hello,
I use and internet based email system called Countermail. Java must be running for me to log in and use the system, but I have had no such luck since the release of Java 7, Update 55. No matter what I do, as soon as I begin typing my username into the log in box, the BBOD appears and Java crashes. I have attempted to uninstall Java and reinstall it (I did that twice). The latest thing I was thinking I would try is uninstalling Java and all of my Internet browsers, but in attempting that, I learned you cannot uninstall Safari. So, I am stumped. Is this Malware? What do I do to get Java to behave normally. The Countermail support staff cannot replicate my problem.

This problem appears in all of my Browsers: Safari, Firefox and Opera. Google Chrome cannot use the laterst version of Java.

  • Firefox crashes every time I open it

When I first install Firefox it works perfectly fine. That is, until I close it for the first time after it is opened automatically after the install. After that first "close" it no longer runs properly, it will open to the mozilla start screen and then freeze and crash if I try to go to any website.
Running as administrator seems to work, but when I do that I am unable to scroll with my mouse's scroll wheel for some reason.
Starting in safe mode does nothing, and as I've said, reinstalling will only make firefox work until I close it for that first time. Obviously I could just opt to never close firefox, but I would like to be able to restart my computer and not have to reinstall firefox every time I do so.

It is probably best not to run Firefox as an administrator, and I am not sure why it should work then but not otherwise.
*What do you mean exactly by freeze and crash ?
    * If you have a Firefox crash and submit a crash report please paste a couple of CrashIDs into your next post.
    * Navigate to ''about:crashes'' look for crash ids starting with '''bp-'''
When reinstalling do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program files. (NOT the profile files)
    * see [[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox]]'''_5-reinstall-firefox'''
Please post back with how you get on.
We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
#Enter ''about:crashes'' in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
#Copy the '''5''' most recent Report IDs that start with '''bp-''' and paste them into your response here.
