Since the time warner outage i can not send or receive email.

SInce the Time Warner Cable outage I can not send or receive any email from my phone. It keeps saying can not get mail. The connection to the server failed. What do i need to do to fix this? Please help!!

Try these basic troubleshooting steps first
1. Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage,follow these troubleshooting steps.
          - Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
                    1. Try a different Wi-Fi connection
                    2. If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fiand turn off Wi-Fi.
                    3. If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
2. Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
3. Restart your iOS device.
4. Delete the affected email account from your device.
          - Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
          - Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
          - Add your account again.
* If you are only able to use your email account while connected to your home network, this may be a limitation put in place by your email service provider. For further support, please contact your email service provider directly.

    Anti virus as you are probably aware operates on many different levels. The most obvious have been closed off. Lets try the second most obvious, real time scanning.
    I have no idea what you use and they all use different terminology for basically the same things, so you will have to read between the lines a bit.
    You have disabled the email scanning, now create an exception in the anti virus real time scanner for your [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_where-is-my-profile-stored Thunderbird profile] folders.
    Thunderbird uses a single file per folder to store mail and the anti virus can slow things to a crawl scanning those very large files every-time something is added or removed or a folder is changed. An exception means that does not happen and the folder is only scanned when a "full system" scan is done. This does not stop memory scanning or scanning of attachments when they are opened.

    The nice thing about owning this overpriced POS is that Apple not only doesn't support it, but also doesn't want to hear about anything negative regarding it.  So I spoke to the so-called "support" people at Apple who successfully screwed up my contacts beyond repair.  I got a nice email from Apple asking me to rate the support I got.  I was actually civil and described the issue tactfully.  What do I get in return?  Nothing.  Not a damned thing!!  You're luck you've got me by the short hairs on a 2 year contract but I'm still tempted to throw this POS through the front window of the nearest Apple store!!  Not only will I be replacing this phone with a competitive product but I won't be buying anymore Apple crap.  I guess when you con 27 million people into believing your rhetoric and sales lies, you don't have to care whether some customers get screwed or not.  I'll be going back to Verizon and threatening legal action if they don't take this electronic dung heap back but I'm sure the teams of lawyers Apple and Verizon have on staff have insured that I have no rights in this matter and you're free to screw me anytime you please.  Sad.     Is this on wifi or cellular data?
    Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home/power button until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
    Have you gone into the email settings and making sure the password are still there?

    That really sounds like anti virus scanning to me. Try rebooting your machine into safe mode with networking and see if it works correctly then.

  • Ipod touch generation 2 ~ I can't send or receive emails from my gmail account.  I have gone back to factory settings and updated the device. It will not take my password.

    I have not used this Touch iPod for quite some time and thought I would use it for collecting email when I am out.  I have wasted a lot of time trying to get this to work and now wonder if the 2nd generation is too old to send and receive email. 

    I am using imap on all my other devices.  I use a Google domain email address.  The only divice I have that will not sync is this older generation iTouch. The version without the camera. Model PB528LL.  I know my email address is correct and the password works everywhere else.

    I had this problem also. Yesterday, i called my e-mail provider. Turns out I had to change the port numbers in both the incoming and outgoing servers to numbers specific to that provider. Solved the problem.

    No, you cannot uninstall iOS 8 and downgrade to iOS 7, but you can try reinstall iOS 8.
    I would suggest you to do it from DFU mode.
    Here are some things you need to know before proceeding:
    You WILL NOT lose your photos, messages, notes, reminders or anything on your device.
    If you choose to backup on iTunes, you will NOT lose your Apps. Anyway, if that happens someway, (it shouldn't happen, don't worry) you can download them later for FREE.
    Here's how to proceed:
    -First of all, as usual, do a complete backup of your device either on iCloud or your iTunes (i personally suggest iTunes. If iTunes asks to backup Apps, agree.)
    -Put your device in DFU [While the iPad is connected to iTunes, press and hold both the home and the power button. When the Apple logo appears, release the power button and keep holding the home button until you see the iTunes logo on the iPad screen.]
    -Once your device is in DFU mode, iTunes will automatically detect it as an iPad in recovery mode, so it will ask you to restore your iPad.
    -Click on Restore and accept iOS 8 terms and conditions to continue the installation.
    -Wait for iTunes to download and install the software.
    -Once your iPad restarts, you will be guided to the configuration of your iPad. When it asks you if you want to configure it as a new iPad or restore from a backup, choose the iTunes or iCloud backup depending on where your backup is.
    -Wait for iTunes to restore your device.
    You're done!
    Now test your device and let me know if everything works well!
