Since transferring to a new PC (Windows 8) all my Bookmarks & options settings keep reverting to the initial "Defaults" whenever I restart.
This affects all my Bookmarks; Menu Bar settings; Add-on settings; history; Home Page et al

What files did you transfer to the new computer?
It sounds that there is a problem with the file that stores the preferences.
Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

I am having trouble transfering any media from my windows 7 pc to my iPad 3. Currently using the latest version of iTunes n my windows pc but still the media won't appear on my devicewhen being transferred..
The window would open and I would get the hourglass cursor suggesting something was happening, but the Apple home page (default from the install) would not load, nor would any other page I tried (google, yahoo, cnn).

since i change my new account in apple id , everytime i update it keeps showing and asking the old account.
Not knowing what yo are updating maybe this:
- Go to settings>Store and sign out and sign into your account.
- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account. -

To make a new document, go to File > New From Template chooser and choose the type of document you wish to create.
To add a new page to an existing document go to Insert > Sections > Blank. -

Back up all data. Quit System Preferences if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return. A folder should open. If it does, look for a file with a long name that begins "com.apple.screensaver". There may be several such files. Move them all to the Trash.
Log out or restart the computer. Test. If the problem is resolved, empty the Trash and recreate your settings in the Screen Saver tab. -
I have 4th gen nano that won't sync to my new laptop windows 7 I transfer everything off of my old pc onto my new one so all of my music was in my itunes library and it still is but when I go to sync new songs it keeps asking me to authorize my computer and it is already authorize just don't know what to do anymore. Should i deauthorize the 2 computers that it is saying that are authorize and start over? Please help

I close a Firefox browser and at a later time want to open a new browser window but get message "Firefox is still running and I need to shut down before I can open a new session" I do not want to shut down as this is laborious - I can go into task manager and processes and click on Firefox and end session that way but this is not the solution. Firefox seems to be running in background but I cannot open a new session window without doing on of the above.

I just updated the new iTunes and now all my playlists are gone!! What the heck?!
All my playlist are gone from itunes with the new update. If I click on "sync" it asks me to erase all my music and videos... Is there a way to avoid doing this? Thanks.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
In the unlikely event that your media has been wiped from your computer see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Classic 160GB, Itunes and Windows Explorer all disagree on how much space is on the Ipod
Hi,
I restored and resynced my Ipod Classic 160GB (about 2.5-3 years old) to see if it would help a problem I was having when plugging it into my stereo receiver via USB (the receiver was only recognizing it for four or five songs, then losing the connection).
It took a long time to restore the Ipod, due to the size of the collection and the number of MP3s that I had it convert to AACs.
The Ipod, which had had the exact same songs on it before with 2.7 GB left over, now claimed to have only 53 MB of empty space. Looking at the drive in Windows Explorer, it had 2.6 GB. In Itunes, the Ipod appeared to be 6 GB OVER its capacity.
So I took a chance and defragged and optimized the drive. It made it better, but not fixed:
Now, the Ipod claims that it has 2.3 GB of empty space remaining; looking at it as a drive in Windows, it appears to have 2.6 GB remaining; Itunes, however, claims that the Ipod is totally full (2.5 GB OVER CAPACITY), so it won't add the final 3,000 songs or so to my Ipod.
I know that this all fit on the Ipod fine before the restore - with the same songs checked in my library, I had 2.7 GB left over.
Also, now Itunes reads the Ipod and says that it has 12.6 GB (!!!) of "Other." I have no video, no photos, no contacts on the Ipod or in the library - nothing other than music and album cover images. There's no way that I'd have 12 gigs that I didn't know about.
Should I assume that the drive is dying? Is there anything that I can do to make this better?
Thanks for your help.Also, does an Ipod running on Windows need the "metadata_never_index" file? I don't remember this being on the pod until recently, and from what I've read it's a file for connection to Macs.

While of facebook, I try to click my scroll bar, but it doesn't register as being selected while I'm holding down the left mouse button. Finally, like stated in the question, when I'm on any site, any hyperlinks that I scroll over turned to blacked out blocks, as do pictures, and occassionally the entire window just blacks out.

Transferring session to new browser window
Hi Everybody,
I am using struts for a webapp and on one of of the pages, I have to put a link which would open a new window for the user. THen new window would have the same data as the original window and would also the user to play around in the new window, that's just the business requirement.
Lot of data in the original window is coming from and is associated with a session.
Now how do I transfer ( or refer to or whatever ) the session from the original window to the new window that is opening up. And we are using on IE, if that matters.
And help and comments would be appreciated.

VikasOk I think my understanding of the situation has changed in the meantime also. So here is what's going on exactly.
A user is logged into my application and did a search for a claim and is looking at a jsp page (call in claim.jsp) and the data on this page is coming from a value object ( basically a bean called claimVO) and this claimVO is store in the session. And claimVO is placed in session as a result of the search done by user after he logged in.
The user can hit a link on claim.jsp and open a new window (a popup) to edit the claim he was viewing in the previous window 1. The window 2 being a popup and cookies being enabled would share the same session as window 1 and claim.jsp in window 2 would also be populated from the original claimVO stored in session.
But what we want to achive here is that when window 2 is opened we start a new session and copy the claimVO from session1(in window1) to session2 and then the two windows behave as two different instances of the applicaiton.
Now I don't think that it is readily possible (if at all) to share objects between sesssions cause it would kill your security.
So how could this be achieved. I want to copy an object from one window session to another window session , the point is that the two windows need to have different objects with different states.
Second idea is the I could use a hashtable keyed by the window id (or some kinda id) associated with a browser window. And store my objects ( or instances ) in the hashtable.
And the two different browser windows would use the objects based on their windows ids.
So is there anything called or like browser window id that I can get in my java/jsp code. So each browser jsps in each browser window would use the instances stores in the hashtable(which is stored in the common session) based on the id of the window they are operating in.
I might have made it too complex.

I'm experiencing a not-quite-crash every time I attempt to open firefox on my new computer. What happens is that the menu bar (which I prefer to have visible instead of that orange single-button menu) has all the letters on it turn gray, and I lose my ability to click anywhere on the page, including to close it. If I attempt to close the page via the taskbar it doesn't let me. It does, however, let me open new windows via the taskbar which don't have the same problem, which allows for an easy-but-inconvenient fix. I've tried it out and it does not have the same problem in Safe Mode. As a result of not being a "true" crash I can't give a crash ID, so you won't be able to trace it that way, sorry.
''Problem:'' For whatever reason, NoScript is stopping Runescape Community Toolbar from working properly which freezes your first Firefox window.
''Fix:'' Uninstall the toolbar. Disable NoScript. Install the toolbar. Add your RS account to it and make sure it works, then Enable NoScript again.
