Since update, various sites load very slowly and some do not load until "Reload Current Page" is clicked several times.

Since Firefox update (6.0.2) many sites load very slowly and some do not load at all (green circle rotates infinitely) until "Reload Current Page" is clicked on 2 to 12 times.
Returned to version 5. No more slow load.
Automatically re-updated me to 6.0.2 and now slow again.
Returned to FF 5 again and turned off automatic update.
Downloaded 7.0.1 and the problem seems to be solved.

Same here, only that updating to 7.0 or 7.0.1 doesn't seem to solve this issue. Seems to have something to do with loading images (e.g: adobe.com stops loading when "wwwimages.adobe.com" is being loaded. imdb.com, on the other hand, seems to load images very slowly and not all of them).
Safe-mode. disabling add-ons, clearing cache and cookies and checking for malware doesn't help.

Movies on itunes will not load or load very slowly and freeze on my apple tv. both the computer and apple tv are wired connections on my home network. Checked the network speed and it is between 0 and 1 ms response. This problem just started last week. Only new software introduced recently was update to Norton 360.
    Thanks

I know very little about windows but security software is notorious for causing the type of problem you have, you may want to contact Symentec and ask them which settings you need to change.

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.
You can try to decrease the value of the pref <b>network.http.max-connections</b> from 255 to a more modest setting like 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

  • HT5622 valid apple id but not icloud account.  I tried downloading on a different computer and logging in and it did not work.  I have restarted my computer several times.  I have changed my password several times.  I have tried to access the icloud page.

repeating error message reads: "valid apple id but not icloud account." when trying to start my icloud account.  I tried downloading on a different computer and logging in and it did not work.  I have restarted my computer several times.  I have changed my password several times.  I have tried to access the icloud page.  Nothing has worked.  Now I have this stupid app and some of my music is still not being shared on both of my computers.

I have the same problem signing in...but, I finally got a screen saying you have to set up a account on a device..like an ipad to get a iCloud sign in ...my apple id is [email protected]   and this screen reset to [email protected]
If you don't have an apple device you may be out of luck.  I don't know.  I'm still waiting for help just as you are...good luck to both of us though.

  • IPhoto is loading very slowly and very unresponsive

I am running a 24" iMac with 2.16 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 1 GB SDRAM.
I recently upgraded to iPhoto 11 and really enjoy some of the new features, but it is running terribly slowly.  I have about 19,000 photos and very few videos, is that too many?  Should I split my Library into 2 smaller ones?  I would rather not have to do that but it is difficult to accomplish anything with how slowly it is running.
Any advice on ways to speed it up?  Is there library maintenace that can be done to make it run smoother?
    Thanks,
    April

Terence is correct about the amount of RAM.  1 GB is entire too little for any kind of performance.  That model can handle up to 3 GB so I strongly suggest  purchaseing a 2 GB memory stick for the iMac and install it.  It's not difficult to install memeory in the iMac.
You'll see a trememdous increase is overal response and speed.
Also how much free space do you have on your hard drive.  To optimize system and application speed and performance you should have a minimum of 10 GB of free space.

  • FileSelectPopup loading very slowly and displaying too many filetypes.

So this is something I've noticed recently on two Windows 7 Machines - when using FileSelectPopup, the first time I call for a FileSelectPopup, there's a good 2-3 second delay before the window pops up. Subsequent calls are much faster, but still on the order of 700ms-1s. Is there a way for me to reduce this time? I'd even be happy if I could make it so that the first call to FileSelectPopup were a bit faster. I'm guessing that since there's a change in the delay, that the first time it's called loads some kind of module that takes a bit to load - can I preload this module during startup?
The other problem I'm having with FileSelectPopup is that if I call it with the filetypes parameter set to "*.tdms", it will show me files with the extension .tdms, but also with the extension .tdms_index. This is quite annoying, as every single tdms file generates a tdms_index file as well, so it cuts in half the number of files I can display in a single panel. Is there a way to enforce that the ending is EXACTLY .tmds?

    Paul,
I may have told you information that is not completely correct. So let me correct myself. The issue that you have described actually known issue 247402 that was fixed  in CVI 2010. You can read about it in the CVI 2009 Known Issues List. The issue I linked previously is actually a separate, but similar, issue and the description may have been a bit misleading. I am going to correct this wording, but keep in mind that this was actually fixed in 2010 SP1. I would recommend using CVI 2010 SP1 Run-Time Engine in order to have the fix for both bugs.

  • I recently upgraded my internet service to be faster on myIMac tiger 10.4.11 and that lasted about a day. Now not only do I get TBBFH but even opening up let's say Face book it loads very slowly . It's not the BBFH but next to the facebook it's a circle o

Even when I am using Safari or Firefox  the spinning wheel of lines especially for face book just keeps spinning and it takes forever to load my pages. It was faster than this before I upgraded my internet service. I Check the speeds and those are fine (using a internet speed test). I have emptied all of my caches, cleaned my Mac with (Clean My Mac), I've taken out all old files, pictures, cleared my widgits, and I don't know what else to do. Is there some configuration I need to address some where inmy preferences? Do Ihave to just live with it? I do want to upgrade to Snow Leopard but, I can't afford that at this moment. Any ideas please forward. Another issue I have is that my IMac will not accept a DVD+Rdl but will accept any and all other DVD' and CD's what could cause that?
    Sincerely,
    Rochichi98

A warm welcome to Apple discussions!
A 2003 iMac cannot support Snow Leopard 10.6; you'd need an Intel processor and that cannot be retrofitted to your Mac. What does "About this Mac" in your Apple menu say  for your processor speed? What does it say about how much RAM you have?
If the processor is 1ghz or faster, you can run OS 10.5; otherwise, you are maxed out at 10.4.11.
Also, are you running any commercial ("pay for") anti-virus or security software? They are notorious for slowing most Macs to a fraction of their speed potential.
A too-full hard drive can drag down performance, especially if you don't have a lot of physical RAM installed. If you single-click your hard drive icon and then do command i, you'll see the disk usage. Looks like this:
The value for "Used" should be no more than about 90 percent of "Capacity." In the example image, that drive has about 34 percent of its space used and 66 percent free--more than enough. Please post what you see for your Capacity and Used numbers
There are a few more things we might check but this is a good start.
    Awaiting your information,
    Allan

  • WinXP SP3 FF24 (a) FF stopped putting pdf in tabs yesterday (b) updated adobe plugin to v11 today and FF will not load pdf's AT ALL.

In part (a) of my question I did not change anything at all, but suddenly lost the ability to have tabbed pdf files and could not get it back. So today I saw that the reader plugin was out of date.
Adobe reader XI (updated today from X) works by itself, but the plugin, which FF told me to update, and now says "up-to-date" does not work at all, and I will be forced to use IE, which I hate, to do my job.
Yes I rebooted the machine when told by Adobe installation.
    FDS

Actually I wanted to use the built-in viewer, but I could not get it to work, because I was confused--there is one item that states "Adobe Acrobat 7.0 document" (setting this didn't do anything) and another which is the correct "Portable Document Format..."
which I have now set correctly so it works for my coursework on Blackboard. For some weird reason many sites which I usually download pdf's from seem to be "not found" 404 err, etc, and I can't test things.

  • Webpages loading very slowly??

I haven't made any changes to my connection lately, but it is now suddenly running very slowly. I'm running 10.4.11 with all updates. The Internet (Safari, Firefox, and Mail) runs very slowly and takes minutes to load webpages, and sometimes doesn't load at all. I have made changes to the router, but it didn't fix the problem. Any suggestions? Should I scan for viruses?

When websites don't load, I now get this "Road Runner Web Site Suggestion" site that I have never gotten before. This leads me to believe that it has something to do with the ISP.
Also, I don't lose or drop my wireless connection, it just loads web pages extremely slowly until the point where it sometimes goes to this Road Runner page.

  • IBooks Author: in exported file, one page loads very slowly...

iBooks Author: in exported file, one page loads very slowly and drags when scrolling through pages, almost stopping the scroll.  I have never seen this problem before with photo pages.  Normally they scroll just as smoothly as text pages.
I have tried rebuilding the page with more compressed files to no avail.  The image files used on the page are not any bigger than others I have used previously without any problem.
I have tried restarting my iBook.
I am using a template that I have modified quite a bit.  The templates currently offered by Apple and third parties are not even close to what I am looking for in terms of layout, so I have to rip almost everything out of the page and start with a blank page, most of the time.  I tried modyfying the layouts to save time and then saved as a new template.  Apple really needs to add a module to create your own template at the beginning of a project.  Or they need to create one very open template, without much on the pages.

I finally solved the problem by using an unmodified template. I would still like to know how my modifications to the other template caused the problem, but for now it remains a mystery.  Thanks for your ideas.
Next I will try modifying the template without saving it as a template (merely saving it as a file) to see if I can get away with my modifications.  Also I will make fewer modifications.
Slowly but surely I am learning this program by trial and error.  Each time I try a few formatting variations, output an iBooks file, and open it on my iPad.  I have probably done 20 of these tests, so far.  Once I work out every detail of the design and structure, I will build the final book.  I am lucky to have a beautiful PDF of the hardcover version, generously provided by my publisher.  This not only sets a high bar for me, but also allows me to use some of their design elements via screen capture.
iBooks Author has great potential, but I along way to go to get there. One feature I would really like to see in the next update: the ability to add a hidden caption to a photo.  The reader would tap the image and the caption would appear. Tap again and it disappears.

  • Website loads very slowly in Safari....

I have had my website for quite a while and all of a sudden, when I try to view it in Safari, it loads very slowly and each time the welcome page loads, there are pictures missing. I have not done anything different to my site. Is this a problem with Mobileme or iWeb or both?? My site is captured4u.com
    Thanks

    First, not a bad page.
A quick analysis of the home page provides this information:
    Documents (4 files) 28 KB
    Images (33 files) 972 KB
    Objects (0 files)
Scripts (9 files) 291 KB (296 KB uncompressed)
Total 1300 KB (1305 KB uncompressed)
For Reference, Apple's current home page provides the following sizes:
Documents (2 files) 3 KB (9 KB uncompressed)
    Images (20 files) 143 KB
    Objects (0 files)
Style Sheets (2 files) 6 KB (30 KB uncompressed)
Total 250 KB (502 KB uncompressed)
The current MSN.com portal page shows:
Documents (4 files) 19 KB (52 KB uncompressed)
    Objects (0 files)
Scripts (7 files) 74 KB (158 KB uncompressed)
Style Sheets (3 files) 17 KB (65 KB uncompressed)
Total 228 KB (393 KB uncompressed)
I can't speak for past performance, but any page that is over a MB in size does take longer to load. A problem with your page is that you have an idea of how to add pictures and make the layout how you want it to look, but there is a price the viewer has to pay to download all of those graphics, including some of the text that are being converted to graphics by iWeb (which means Google can't read some of your categories for their index).
I don't find that iWeb does a very good job of optimizing graphics for the web. They work, but dedicated graphics programs like Photoshop or even Photoshop Elements will do much better when the files are resized and saved for web properly.
You would probably do better to simplify the home page with larger single graphics for each category that are used to point to other pages with more related photo's and descriptions. Remember, even the fancy picture frame outlines are more graphics the viewer has to load, and you need to be aware of when iWeb is going to convert your text into graphics either because you are not using standard web safe fonts, are rotating the text or adding other fancy attributes.
Design and optimization are always a compromise. iWeb is not always smart about optimization, and mobileme is not the best solution for speed. They're fairly easy to use, but go easy on them...

    Hi Larry,
Thankyou for your reply, this is a partial answer
This server has been running for about 3 years now,
The faults started after I did an service pack update for sharepoint. I then did the manual update but the C drive then started to run very slowly and was giving disk size too low errors so I moved the SUS to a different drive but this hasnt helped. It is
still running painfully slow. Ran SBS BPA and found no faults. However ran Exchange BPA and did find faults which I have now fixed. Still have large number of errors

  • Computer games run and load very slowly

Even though the requirements for my son's computer games are met (we have enough ram ,space etc) his games run very slowly and when loading from one section of the game to another it is slow too. What could be wrong?

As stated above the more RAM the better, I dont know the minimum requirements for the game but seeing as it is a preschool game and nothing TOO demanding i would think it should run ok; but personally i would upgrade to at least 256mb of ram. I think that would be a pretty good middle ground for you since you are running OS 9, and in my area PC100 ram is quite expensive in large module sizes (512mb approximately running $80-$100) you could buy another 128 module or one 256 module to run with your current 128. But make sure you investigate all possibilities before spending money on any upgrades. I would check to see if there are any game options you could change to make the game run/load a bit faster. I hope this is somewhat helpful.
